Last year I bought a 13 Fishing 6' Rely black ultalight rod and had a ball catching redbreast , rock bass and smallmouth. After 10 months the rod suddenly collapsed just above the reel mount. 13 Fishing replaced the rod immediately and upgraded me to a Defy silver. I'm impressed with the company and will definitely by more of their products for sure!
I've had mine for a year, and I just absolutely loved it. I've caught more fish with this rod in one year than any other pole I've owned during a similar time frame. Unfortunately, I also have a young son who frequently borrows my poles, and he figured out a way to get snagged and broke it in two pieces. I need a moment.
I am sorry for the fact that I read that and started laughing out loud at the "I need a moment." So happy you have been crushing fish - sorry about your rod though
Pulled the trigger and picked up one of these rods after seeing this video. Took it out yesterday and CRUSHED some bass on a 1/32 jig and a black donkey tail jr. Biggest was 3lbs, that little rod is a dream
This is the next stick Im adding to my arsenal. I love how you really get into the exact performance of each rod you test. You are making my decisions much easier. Thank you! 😁
Well, I just got the 6'6" 2 pc "light" rod, to start with, and I LOVE this rod. Ive already crushed a couple dinks on the dt jr, and this is my new favorite rod. And its the cheapest one i own. I did pair it with my 1000 shimano vanford, so its a sweet set up for sure.
I bought the Defy Silver 7' in UL and light last year. I highly recommend, for the money hard to beat. Also bought the TFO last year, both of these rods are great! Keep up the reviews nice job !
I have handled and tested both the 5’6” foot and 6‘6“ models. Both of them have very similar actions. Both are not wimpy noodles. When you shake the rod, the tip is quick to come back to straight and will not wobble for a long period of time like many of the flimsier rods, such as the Shakespeare micro series or Okuma Celilo. They have a somewhat firm tip that doesn’t like to load up a ton when casting ultra light lures and a very fast action bordering on extra fast. Most of the rod is backbone with 80% of the total rod flex happening in the first 16 inches of the rod. The backbone is pretty stout for an ultralight, and it is bordering on a lite power rod, but I wouldn’t consider it a broomstick by any means. It has plenty of backbone for reeling in the occasional larger fish. As for sensitivity it’s good but not Shimano Zodias great. Most likely because it has a 24 Ton HTC 2 Blank versus the more sensitive 30 and higher blanks. But this also makes it more durable and less susceptible to breakage, which is important for the thinner more fragile ultralight rods. You are not going to find a more sensitive rod without getting into the $80 and higher price range. The guides are decent and a step up from the lower end guides you find on cheaper rods, but they are nothing high end, or fancy. When it comes to ergonomics and comfort, it has good ergonomics and is designed for two different hand positions, a more forward grip with your index finger and thumb on the top cork and a second more neutral position with your index finger just below the cork on the next finger groove which is on the black plastic and your thumb resting on a cut out on the top of the handle so you can feel the blank a little better. Though it has good, well thought out ergonomics, I find the rod handle to be a little thin in diameter for my liking. As for fit and finish, it is very good for a rod in this price range and I couldn’t find any serious cosmetic issues with the rods I tested, but don’t be surprised if you see the occasional rod with less than stellar cork, epoxy, or component fitment and gap issues come off of the assembly line, and somehow make it to the store shelves. As for balance, this is where the 6’6” and 7’ model struggle. The 5’6” and 5’ model, balance really good but the 6’6” feels a bit tip heavy without a reel, and with a 2000 size Daiwa Legalis reel it balances perfectly on the small cork section at the top of the handle. But when you move your hand down to the next lower finger groove position, which is your index finger on the black plastic on the reel seat so that you can have your thumb sit on top of the top cutout and have the reel between your middle and ring finger, this is where you start to notice it feeling a bit tip heavy. Would I recommend this rod for an all around rod or your only ultralight rod? No, that would have to go to the TFO Trout-Panfish, this rod has a bit too much backbone for use with trout fishing and too firm of a tip to properly load up when casting super light jigs, and too fast of an action to use with treble hook lures. But I do think it has its place and works well for certain techniques, presentations, and lures.
I got the 13 Defy Silver last year. It's very well made and not expensive, performs great for trout. Really like these 13 Fishing rods so much got their other models also. Not been disappointed and I do have way higher end rods like G Loomis and St. Croix, Rogue, Shimano.
Your Celilo video made me want to grab the 6’ version and now I’m leaning more the to 6’6” version of this rod! Going to mostly jig and drop shot fish. Thanks for all the great content! Your videos got me into the ultralight life.
I think the 6'6 Defy Silver will definitely be a better rig than the Celilo. It maintains a fast action better so it is easier to detect bites and properly work small lures. Thanks Marco!
I have a couple of friends with the Defy silver and both have broken the rods (one on a snag). I decided to go with the 6’ Celilo for slip bobber fishing and have caught some great fish on it. I also just picked up the 5’ Ugly Stik Elite UL tonight to pair with smaller jigs and those donkey tail juniors!
My local fleet farm had them on sale for $39.99 so I had to pick one up. I haven’t got the chance to fish it, but my first impression, the rod is more stout and stiffer than most ultralight. Rod is well built and it look like it should cost more than what it’s actually worth.
I just picked up a Shakespeare Ugly Stick Lite Pro 5'0 ultralight 1 piece rod. It's a fast action glass composite rod. $36 at Walmart. I really like it so far. 7 year warranty too. 👍🏻😎
I have several of the 13 rods.. they are decent rods, but just a little too stiff. I have 2 of the 13 Defy Silver in 7' & those rods are perfect for long distance casting when using 1/16 oz jigs
So I bought this rod. I’m becoming a rod addict. But I bought the wrong model. I got light instead of UL. No regrets. It’s great for powerbait or Carolina rig artificial worm set up. I love how it casts. Getting TFO rod next ! I’m running out of space in my rod holder lol
@@FishAnythingawesome man. My top rods: Phenix elixir, defy silver, and believe it or not but a cheap $40 Berkeley lightning trout rod. Super stout for casting and I love the reel seat.
@@FishAnything I've bought 2 this makes my 3rd and man they spoiled me. Got a fury medium light and a siera ultrafiness(shop karls sells it as a ultralight...disappointment but I liked the rod so not sending it back haha
I admit after a few minutes seeing that on video I was like 🤔... “That one looks slick!” My favorite looking one so far and a fast tip?!... noice! I’m looking forward to see which one’s you review next!
I just watched your best budget rod videos and picked this one out to buy. I’m getting back into crappie fishing and appreciate your review on this rod. Subbed/liked and used your Amazon link. I’m looking for a solid little reel now.
Dad gum Ethan! Awesome on the water review of the 13 Defy Silver. Looks like a great rod for $50. Started off with the gills but got into some nice bass before getting back into those gills. Nice job in playing with all these UL rods. Looking forward to seeing that future comparison vid of all the models you've tested.
Thanks Fitzy - yeah I actually think this is one of my personal favorites so far. I have been having fun experimenting with the various rods out there.
Have you considered the Phenix Elixer's? They are high end rods in the $200 class. I have been fishing ultra-lite for many years and the quality and selection of ultra-lite rods is the best its ever been, Back in the 70's I had to have my rods custom built on flyrod blanks. I prefer a longer rod @ 7'6'' to provide good shock absorption for the lighter line
Great video!! I was looking at that rod, but was thinking about getting the 6'6 model. Will probably be using it more so in the creek for smallies but it may find its way onto the yak as well.
You should try the Daiwa Spinmatic ultralight rod... It's been my goto for probably the last eight or nine years... Super sensitive and having tried the current and last two generations it's a rod I recommend to anyone wanting an ultralight in any length...
Bro Ethan im an absolute addict of ultralight fishing lol I need some mule jigs asap lol 1/64 oz like yesterday lol plus the donkey Jr's lol keep it up with the Awsome ultralight videos ma stay blessed 🙌
Thank you Matthew! I feel like I keep saying this but I believe it won't be much longer. I have a lot of them ordered but everything is backed up due to COVID issues on supply chain.
How would you compare the 13 Defy Silver to the Daiwa Presso? Especially the regular (not the travel version) if you have tried it. And also I wonder how the 5’ defy silver would be, as all of the 5’6” models are out of stock! What do you think?
I have only used the regular Presso in the 7' 2pc model. I did not like that rod. The 5'6 4pc model, on the other hand, was money! I imagine the Presso less than 7' would be something I really like, but the 7' and above are not my style. The Defy Silver is a bit faster action but they are pretty similar rods. I would probably stick with the Presso but that would be a tough decision. The only reason I lean more into the Presso is because I think it will be more versatile and I have heard from numerous people who have broken their Defy Silver (I haven't had that issue yet).
Love watching your old video while I sit inside, 7 degrees in minnesota. Have to ask, do you seal your cork? I use a clear gloss polyurethane. Give it a very nice shine and feel
I don’t fish pan fish . I use bfs or ultra light for river smallies when river is down and shallow . Also late winter pond bass or whenever bite is slow and need to down size . This is great review and now I’m seriously looking at this rod for single hook applications which means mule jig , eurotackle b vibe and maybe small ned rigs. Maybe presso for treble hook . I just trying to figure 6”6 or 7 as I’m primarily a bank fisherman and wader. Ultra or light ?
Love your content. Being a finesse fanatic, you should check out old school Charlie Brewer Slider Fishing and Don Iovino (CA) methods like split-shot fishing. Their stuff is definitely dated Lots of good information there
You're probably the one who has tested the most UL rod on the world XD, glad you can. You prefer 1-4 pounds line or 2-6 ive seen some Daiwa UL rods but actually they're just able to cast until 1/8 oz which is to limited compared to Shimanos or Berkleys UL rods which are able to cast 3/16 oz lures... Those have more applications, or what do you think ?
It is all about your style as an angler. Personally, I never cast anything larger than 1/8oz anyway. I also mostly use 2lb test so I like when the ratings are lower.
Loving all the UL content! Just getting back into angling myself and have been leaning into UL. Would love to see you give the Daiwa Spinmatic Ultralight a shot. I picked one up a week back in 6’ to compare to my Celilo 6’6” and they’re totally different animals. Haven’t found much info out there on the Spinmatic and they’re kind of odd (trolling profile grip) but super accurate and nice fast action compared to the whippy Celilo.
@@xplicitfishin oh dude what are we to do with YOUR Rod Addiction? LOL if your like Ethan who just bought and tried out another new rod in the last 2 weeks someone is going to have to come up with some kind of therapy to help fisherman like you two. 😝
Ok I probably asked this question in the Break down ultralight video , but here goes ... I know you used a 5 foot or 5'6 rod this video so I have a 6'6 of the same name coming soon to me sooo ... Is there any difference in the rods except I'm guessing cast distance wise... ?? Hope to hear from ya Ethan . Keep up the great work. 🙂 Mike
@@FishAnythingI throw Ned Rigs constantly. Im hoping to use it for some live bait stuff as well. After I landed my PB Bass (6.24lbs) on 6lbs Ultralight set up I have been obsessed with moving towards lighter set ups and smaller baits.
So far most of what I do for intelligent fishing is to throw a 1/32 oz jig head and the mule minnow 1.2 although I do have the other size too. In your opinion, do I buy the 5.6 or 6.6?
Hmm between those two I would probably prefer the 5'6 for the smaller stuff. Hard to say though because I haven't had a chance to fish the 6'6. Don't think either are bad options - using a low diameter line would be my #1 tip to ensure good casting distance.
I’m also curious about this, a $20 UL rod, if it can throw 1 gram/1/32oz lures I’ll be at Walmart in about 5 minutes, and out in 6. Fiberglass rods are durable as hell and seem pretty interesting to use for UL if it’s half decent.
I haven't personally used the 6'6 but I have felt other 13 rods and I believe it will perform very similar to this one. Might be a bit too stout for trout fishing though.
Man, I own a few Defy, Fate and Omen rods. For the money you just can't go wrong with the defy! In my experience all of the 13 Fishing rods run a little stiffer and faster than they are rated for, but I like it. Looks like we have very similar taste in reels too, is that a Regal? Maybe my favorite spinning reel under $75. Subscribed!
I just picked up 2 daiwa legalis (newer model) for $55 on Amazon. I got the exceler 2 years ago for about $60. The revros and regal are in the same family of reels. I love them.
What's your normal bfs setup? I've been really wanting to get into it. I've got a baby okuma spinner and use an ultralight. Want to move to a light rod, I think, but I'm not sure. What are your thoughts between light and ultralight? I've been using mine forever and love it just wanting to cast a little bit heavier lures.
Nothing wrong with a light if you want to step the weights up a bit! I think a light is great for trout fishing with spinners and whatnot. Just depends on what you’re looking to do!
So for bettlespins, slip bobbers, micro crankbaits and rapala ultralight minnows would the light be good or the ultralight? I heard you mention the UL felt a bit stiffer than most are and just want to make sure I get the right ones. Looking to do the 6'6" and maybe a couple 7'. Great content btw realpy enjoyed it
Based on what you throw and your desired rod length, you may enjoy a light a little more. If you are not going to throw anything over 1/8oz, go UL, but if you are going to fish heavier stuff too, the L will handle that load better.
@@FishAnything I dont think I will be besides the weight of the slip bobber. Gonna get varied lengths two 6' for creek walking otherwise 6'6" and 7' lengths. The 7' would be what I would be throwing the slip bobbers with and the 6'6" and 6' would be lure setups.
I designed Mule Jigs to be super light so they don't sink into the grass and cover too quick. I am able to fish them around heavy cover without having them bog down. Other than that, you just need to cast accurately and feel your baits around the grass. I can try to talk about it more in the future!
hey do you think a light rod rated for 1/16-3/8 oz with 4-6 lb test mono be good for 1/32 oz and 1/64 oz lures. I know its not rated for that but i bet i can still get the lure out far. Anyways awesome video and remember to use trout magnets they work well for bass panfish trout and crappie i caught a couple of bass on them today!
If you are throwing mono go with 4lb. It will work. I have a light action and throw 1/32 oz. On it constantly. The real way to go would be braid to leader. Braid really helps in casting distance.
Thanks for helping Ben. I think you’ll definitely be fine with that setup but if you want extra distance, lower your line diameter and you’ll get several more yards on each cast. I get like 15-20% more casting distance on 2lb mono than on 4lb
Have you tried the Berkley Lightning Trout Rod? It’s around 35$ on bass pro and I’ve been really thinking about picking it up since my last ultralight snapped
Sorry I haven't yet! I will try to do that! Until then, I like to drift and twitch it most often. You can also fish it slowly off the bottom, straight retrieve, or even run it on a drop shot!
I think either would work just fine. From bank, I think the longer rods can help with certain applications but just make sure the rod you get isn't too whippy. I have never held the 7' defy so I can't say for sure. Heard good things about the 6'6 though so I would probably just go that route.
Where do you get your ultralight rods? Locally I was able to find very few of them, and looking online there don't seem to be a ton of options either, at least none that are in stock anywhere. I'm not a _huge_ fan of ordering one online though, my experience with shipping rods hasn't been great.
I have been buying most of the UL rods from Amazon. Sometimes they are out of stock but usually there are a few options. I have had zero rods show up to me broken.
@@FishAnything Hm, good to know. I've ordered one rod/reel combo from Amazon and it was probably the worst shipping experience I've ever had with them (the Shakespeare Dock Runner in a box big enough for a fridge, with zero packaging material). Maybe I'll give it another shot.
Hello !! Do you think that the 6'-6'' is as fast as this 5'-6'' one ? I fish in rivers and from a kayak . I would like to order one online so I can't test the tip / blank . Thanks a lot for all your tests and reviews ! I like watching your videos . Cheers from Montreal, Canada !
Hmmm I haven't used the 6'6 personally but I did feel the whole lineup of their upcoming Omen Trout & Panfish series (basically an upgrade to the defy ultralights) and they were all a good fast action. Based on that, I would assume the 6'6 will still be a true fast. Thanks for watching!
I just bought some cheap cork sealant on amazon for a few bucks. It almost reminds me of Elmer's glue. Basically you just put the white paste on there, it dries clear, then you wipe it off with a wet rag. Do that two times and it is coated perfectly. Super nice stuff! I don't think the sealant brand matters though.
Hi, nice rod. I was looking at it and I'm thinking of buying it, I need it for small lures but I would love to fish a bit bigger lures from time to time but what worries me is that it kind of limits my options seeing that it only 2.6 grams ( I'm in Europe) and I'm also worried about the bigger fish like 2-3 kg fish. If anyone could kindly reply thank you in advance. I love the rod but a bit worried.
If I were you I would tighten my drag a little more i notice that you tend to loose the better sized fish on the ultralight and from personal experience i think ur drag is a little too loose. Great vid too Im loving the new series!
Yeah if you’ll notice I finally got it set right on the last fish of the day lol I kept tightening it but it was never quite in the sweet spot. Thanks for the tip 🤠👊🏽
I’ve actually returned to fishing after long time away doing other interests! After running into your channel I became interested in getting into ultralight fishing at minimalistic way with maybe one or two rods and a lure setup like your design that can target multiple species of fish !!! I’m not after big fish but just fun catching what ever I can catch or maybe chase after black or other panfish! After watching your 13 fishing defy review I purchased the same rod with Daiwa Laguna 1000 LT reel and got the Daiwa 8x grand braid in 6lb and 4lb fluorocarbon leader line! You will also be seeing a panfish bundle order from me in the next couple of days aswell!
Ethan, defy silver vs tfo - your honest opinion please for trout and panfish. lost my celio recently due to a fish pulling in my rod a boat while soaking powerbait. I tried the phenix elixir and its super thin and good action but didnt like the reel seal and there were no 7ft elixirs available. I did like dobyns sierra trout's reel seat but a little too stout to cast light lures. I am dying to get my hands on a tfo to test it out.
I would go for the TFO if you plan to fish trout as well. I would go for the Defy Silver if you primarily will fish jigs for panfish though. They are both fantastic options but the TFO might be a bit more versatile.
@@FishAnything thanks for the thorough reply. Appreciate your expertise. Will definitely get the tfo as well. My collection of rods is slowly evolving into mostly ultralights lol. Oh and Ethan check out the zephyr SFS spinning reel! I’ve been using that mainly for ultralight. Weighs in at only 5 oz and has a shallow spool. Light management is good and very good at casting light mule jigs

I just watched your best budget rod videos and picked this one out to buy. I’m getting back into crappie fishing and appreciate your review on this rod. Subbed/liked and used your Amazon link. I’m looking for a solid little reel now.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Good luck out there :)
I love ultra light fishing great video and I slayed some nice bass and pan fish on my ultra light today so much fun
The best! Glad you’re popping them Sterling 🤠 Keep it up!
I’ve got this rod on order. Current favorite is the kastking resolute
Right on! Hope you like it :) I will have to check out that resolute.
I have had a few recommendations to try the Phenix rods! Definitely will look into them - thanks Michael :)
Good stuff Ethan!!! Bet those bass felt awesome on the UL.
Always do!!!
I'm about to buy some mule jigs but I'm waiting for the jig heads to be back in stock. So I can buy all of them at once.
Haha yeah they should be back in stock very soon I hope. I’m really sorry it’s taken so long!
Great video!! I was looking at that rod, but was thinking about getting the 6'6 model. Will probably be using it more so in the creek for smallies but it may find its way onto the yak as well.
That sounds like a blast! Don’t think you can go wrong 🤠
You should try the Daiwa Spinmatic ultralight rod... It's been my goto for probably the last eight or nine years... Super sensitive and having tried the current and last two generations it's a rod I recommend to anyone wanting an ultralight in any length...
I’ve heard great things! Thank you 🤠
Bro Ethan im an absolute addict of ultralight fishing lol I need some mule jigs asap lol 1/64 oz like yesterday lol plus the donkey Jr's lol keep it up with the Awsome ultralight videos ma stay blessed 🙌
Yeah I’m doing my best, I hate being out of stock 😭
When will more mule jigs be available? I really appreciate your videos and want to send some business your way. Thanks for doing what you do 👍👍👍
Thank you Matthew!
@@FishAnything I had the 6'6" presso and loved it!
Love watching your old video while I sit inside, 7 degrees in minnesota. Have to ask, do you seal your cork? I use a clear gloss polyurethane. Give it a very nice shine and feel
Haha thanks Travis! Yeah, I use a basic cork sealer product I picked up a few years ago. Seems to work pretty good.
What reel is that?
Daiwa Revros LT 1000
I don’t fish pan fish . I use bfs or ultra light for river smallies when river is down and shallow . Also late winter pond bass or whenever bite is slow and need to down size . This is great review and now I’m seriously looking at this rod for single hook applications which means mule jig , eurotackle b vibe and maybe small ned rigs. Maybe presso for treble hook . I just trying to figure 6”6 or 7 as I’m primarily a bank fisherman and wader. Ultra or light ?
You called that poor bluegill "weird-looking" and then you're surprised when he pees on the kayak! ☺
That was total karma XD
Love the video keep up the good work
Thanks 🤠 will do!
Love your content. Being a finesse fanatic, you should check out old school Charlie Brewer Slider Fishing and Don Iovino (CA) methods like split-shot fishing. Their stuff is definitely dated Lots of good information there
Yeah I 100% agree that I need to look into that. I’ve heard a lot about it over the years 🤠
You're probably the one who has tested the most UL rod on the world XD, glad you can.
I heave heard lots of good things about those Spinmatics. I will definitely consider picking one up :)
@@FishAnything Awesome! By the way, any idea when you'll be getting more mule jig heads in? Would love to order some jig heads and donkey tails soon!
I said it once, I’ll say it again Ethan, you have a Rod Addiction. I see an intervention coming in the near future.
@@xplicitfishin oh dude what are we to do with YOUR Rod Addiction? LOL if your like Ethan who just bought and tried out another new rod in the last 2 weeks someone is going to have to come up with some kind of therapy to help fisherman like you two. 😝
@@xplicitfishin lol it’s a good first step
Lol don’t worry I’m not going to keep them all! I’m just trying to help folks learn more about what’s out there 🤠 but yes I also have a problem 😭😭
@@FishAnything Ethan the first step is admitting you have a problem like XplicitFishin did. 🤪
Loving the Billy Strings karaoke!
Billy Strings is so dang talented. Love that guy!
@@FishAnything One of the best shows I have been to. 6' away from the guy and all I could do was stare in amazement at how quick his fingers move!
Can you do a review on Shimano sensilite and quantum extralite please? Thanks. I am about to get the 13 fishing defy sliver. Nice video 👍
Right on! I’ll look into those
Have you tried the KastKing Resolute UL yet? I've been using it for a few weeks and would enjoy hearing your take on it.
Dang! Yeah I’ll have to check it out thanks for the suggestion 🤠
Love your videos!!
Thank you very much 💚
Billy Strings!
Glad you can appreciate good music :)
I'm here for the Fast Action
It’s such a dope rod for $50! Big fan
@@FishAnything tested it this weekend...yeah for $50 you're not doing better
What reel are you using with this rod? Or what reel do you like best for ultra light
I mostly use size 1000 Daiwa or shimano reels!
Mike
Thanks Mike - I haven't used the 6'6 so I can't say for sure, but I would imagine it should cast just a bit further due to leverage.
Im really considering getting a Defy Black. Probably a 7'1 ML.
Heck yeah! Sounds like a good Ned Rig rod :)
@@FishAnything thanks! Currently I'm using the 6lb high vis braid truline you used in another video. (Floro leader) it's working well I think :)
You should test out Walmart UL rod and Reel that would be a great video.
I’m also curious about this, a $20 UL rod, if it can throw 1 gram/1/32oz lures I’ll be at Walmart in about 5 minutes, and out in 6.
Fiberglass rods are durable as hell and seem pretty interesting to use for UL if it’s half decent.
I’ll have to check this out!!
Would like to see a review of the acc crappie stix
Oooooh good suggestion!!
I just ordered a 6'6 of this rod would there be much difference from the 5'6 one Ethan ? 13 fishing defy silver for trout.
Thanks ,
Mike
I haven't personally used the 6'6 but I have felt other 13 rods and I believe it will perform very similar to this one. Might be a bit too stout for trout fishing though.
Man, I own a few Defy, Fate and Omen rods. For the money you just can't go wrong with the defy! In my experience all of the 13 Fishing rods run a little stiffer and faster than they are rated for, but I like it. Looks like we have very similar taste in reels too, is that a Regal? Maybe my favorite spinning reel under $75. Subscribed!
Thanks Tim! Yeah this rod is super nice, I really like the feel of it. And this reel is actually the Daiwa Revros LT1000. Solid reel for $45 :)
@@FishAnything they absolutely are! I have a couple. You should try the Regal too. They are amazing at $60.
Pretty rod to!
Sure is!!
Great video....where can i look at the actual rod? Academy sports or bass pro shop?
Not sure! I’d probably research it in your area and see if you can find one close 🤠
Fish on!!!!
🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼
You should try the shimano stimula rod
I will have to check it out!
He is causin problems boys
Hahaha 😂🤣 had me rollin
He gets me with the "holy Connolly" every time!
Glad I can give you guys a little chuckle 🤠 tight lines!!
Kind of a beginner question but how do you not get weeds and grass on your hook all the time in water like that? Are you just able to cast around it?
What rod is it?
diawa samuri 5ft 6 light
I’ll definitely check this out! Thanks Adam
Sensitivity wise, how is it compared to the okuma
I definitely think it’s better.
Can you test the field and stream tango...looks like a great cheap option
So many options! I’ll definitely check it out
Can you make a video on all the ways to fish the donkey tail jr please!
Sorry I haven't yet! I will try to do that!
Until then, I like to drift and twitch it most often. You can also fish it slowly off the bottom, straight retrieve, or even run it on a drop shot!
@@FishAnything ok thanks love the content😁
I usually fish of the bank and I don’t know if I should get a 7 foot or a 6.6
I think either would work just fine. From bank, I think the longer rods can help with certain applications but just make sure the rod you get isn't too whippy. I have never held the 7' defy so I can't say for sure. Heard good things about the 6'6 though so I would probably just go that route.
Just picked this up in 7’ can’t wait to get it in mail . Also love all your videos my man . Keep it up .
Thanks Josh :) Glad to hear you have one inbound. Hope you catch lots of fish on it!
BMFS! 🐐
BILLY!
Awesome reviews on the ul rods how are the Walmart ul rods at 10 dollars
I’ll have to pick one up!!
Try the SixGill Aether UL
I will have to look into this! Thanks for the suggestion :)
You had to see the size of these 2 creek chubs I caught you would have been impressed lol
😍 gotta love the jumbo creek chubs 🤠
@@FishAnything thanks a lot for your answer !
I was not aware of the new Omen serie upcoming , I will definitely wait and take one.
@@JBC69 Let me know your thoughts if you get it. Definitely loved the feel of it and made me want one lol
Is fast action and fast taper essentially the same thing?
Yeah I would say so :)
@@FishAnything yea I did some research. Seen the Abu Garcia Eradicator SUL? It's super slow taper and has a .1g casting!
What kind of cork sealer do you use on your rods? Looking to extend the life of my investments
I landed a big pike on this rod this summer! I think it can handle the fish you’re talking about 🤠🧡
Thanks for the reply. I bought another rod which was on sale but I will keep this in mind for the future.
It's 6.6 pounds it's not that often but we do catch them in fisheries where they stock them.
I keep trying to order this from amazon but it's showed up 3 times broken. They just throw it in a big box with no padding whatsoever
That’s so annoying! I’d probably reach out to 13 Fishing directly if I was you.
Holy caaannnoooollllliiiiii
the holiest of cannolis
What reel are you using ?
It looks like a daiwa. Not sure on gear ratio though. Daiwa reels are sooo good.
Correct! Daiwa Revros lt1000 🤠🕺🏼
@@FishAnything yeah I guess I commented too soon. Love your vids man!
Are you using 2lb r 4 lb test.
I believe I had this reel spooled up with 2lb trilene sensation
Try the Shimano Sensilite!
I’ve used the 7’ Light Casting rod! Loved it!
@@FishAnything Oh nice, I have the 5ft ultra light, and it has such a fast action it is kind of wild.
👍
🕺🏼🕺🏼
I have the Celilo ultralight 6' and I'm kinda torn on it. Feels very "noodly" to me. Does this Defy rod feel the same to you?
Sorry should've waited until the VERY end of your video where you answered my question! LOL.
Haha no need to apologize. The Defy is way better than the Celilo with regards to "The Noodle Factor"
What reel did you pair up with that 13 Fishing Defy Silver? You always kill me when you don't have your net ready :P I can't stand loosing fish so mine's almost always within reach. Another great video and caught some nice ones!
Haha yeah I need to pay more attention to my net. And it was my Revros LT1000 🤠
perfect with zephyr sfs reel. less than 6.5 oz!
Nice video man. Please check your Facebook Messenger. I sent a couple pics with some fish i caught. I think you might appreciate them you being a creek chub guy.
Them were some beauties!!
What reel are you using?
Daiwa Revros LT 1000 :)
