What’s your go to ultralight baits and gear?
Acc crappie stix 5ft or 5'6 with okuma ceymur tactical green 500 or 1000
Decided for first ultra light to go a little cheaper and got the 13 fishing code white 5’6” combo off Amazon for $35. Any chance of doing a comparison video to see if the extra cost is worth it?
Canyon creek super ultra light rod. 7ft with 4lb Mr crappie line. 1/32 ounce jig with swimbait or a light spinner.
Shimano sensilite with a shimano sierra 1000, that’s what I got and it’s hell of a light setup and around $80 I couldn’t be happier
For my ultralight I'm using a tfo trout/panfish in a 7ft paired with a Florida fishing products osprey ce 1000. My light is a tfo professional 7ft paired with a Penn battle 3 2500. I'm mainly using them for saltwater and the occasional freshwater trip.
The more I fish ultralight and have a great day catching lots of small fish and enjoying it, the more I want to get out and fish. I do not need to spend all day looking for big ones when I can fish the shore line and catch one after another all day. The small lakes and ponds are full of rock bass and sun fish and I cruise the shore line in my kuda 106 and end up having a great day. I enjoy your videos and get a lot great ideas and advise from both of you, have a great day and stay healthy.
i LOVE you guys!!! So glad i found you. Love your experience, the way you think, your humor, your presentation, EVERYTHING! I have been a half-@$$3d ultralighter since the 80’s. Am getting serious now (think whole-@$$3d) and found the perfect mentors at the perfect time. Thank you algorithmics! Cannot say it enough - love the way u think about this stuff coupled with your experience. Thank you so much! Love & respect from The Great Plains where even through the ice our water clarity is only measured in inches.
🙌
This video is gold. You guys are killing it🤙🏼
Thanks brother!
Mule baits and jigs are a staple in my tackle bag. The 1/80oz jig is absolutely amazing
Just picked up a 6'6" Fenwick with a small revo x it's killer. Those micro chatterbaits are deadly! I need to get some mule and Nikko stuff asap. Another great video
Amazing video. Great explanations. Ultralight fishing here I come!
In addition to everything you mentioned, I also ALWAYS carry a Heddon Teeny Torpedo and Leland Trout Magnet jigs and plastics. Good stuff!
I’m a rooster tail monster. All sizes! I just love how versatile they are. I’ve had so many skunked days where I just get frustrated with whatever I’ve bought and go back to inline spinners just to get a fish to keep from skunking. Caught my 31 inch brown trout on a 1/4 rooster tail
I'm getting into them got a ten pound bass on a white with silver roster tail
@@BobbyGiles-ie3nk caught my 31 inch brown trout just under 11lbs using a 1/4oz rooster tail green orange combo color. I have the best luck with 1/8 oz inline spinners though
Love the video guys! Love me some ultralight fishing. Go to baits currently are the Shad FryZ from Z-Man, the Rooster Tail and I am looking forward to trying out the Lunkerhunt Hive Micro baits as well.
I recently discovered the Okuma C Aria a 4000. The reel body is the size of a 2000, but it has a massively wide spool, which aids in casting. It balances well with my 5’ 6” light power fast action.
Great video guys!
“He’s eyeless, like that slipknot song” got my sub just from that 😂😂🔥👊
🤙
Good knowledge fellas. Appreciate the info.
Defy Silver is absolutely the value choice. I feel it’s perfectly balanced for light jigs and casts amazing.
Zman's Finesse Bulletz jigheads are hard to beat where I fish. The tapered head doesn't pick up weeds like a blunt Ned-type head and I think the 45-degree upright presentation is more natural than the bolt upright Ned look. Anything minnowy or buggy in a Zman or Nikko plastic will catch fish all day.
Been wanting to try those jig heads! You have success throwing the regular TRD on those too?
@@MrParadiseHotDog For sure. Other favorites of mine are Zman Ticklerz, Hula Stickz and Paddlerz, and Nikko Hellgrammites.
I agree. Snags way less than the Ned locks and the TRD craws look more natural.
I really enjoyed fishing with the Leland's Lures Panfish Magnet Kit. I've caught some nice smallies fishing those under a float rig in creeks. They catch a variety of species. Bobby Garlands baby shads work well too. I really need to try those Nikko leeches. I fish with there hellgramites alot. 👊👍
Love my 5’ defy silver with a 1000 Daiwa Legalis. Besides a rapala original, I use Eurotackle hard baits. They have a crank bait, jerkbait, lipless, and popper.
Great run down fellas
My lite spinning kit is 90% Mule jig heads and plastics, but I did just pick up some Zman micro trds to play around with too
Great video 👍👍👍
Pistol Pete’s are awesome. Even some larger flys work too. Love the video, can’t wait to find some of the zman neko weights
🙌
I use a $25 Okuma 6'6 MediumLight Combo. I got from my local bait shop. It's whippy as hell the reel is so so. But it does the job and for $25 I have no complaints.
So I’m too much of a coward to go full Ultra lite for fear of breaking little fragile things with my klutzy hands. However I just treated myself to a new Lite combo. Got a carbon x 1000 reel and a KastKing 6’ lite resolute rod. Small enough I can leave it in the truck for quick sessions between work and family. First outing landed a nice 1.5lb largie which was a blast. Using a black DTJ of course.
My favorite ultralight crank is the Rebel Cricket. It catches everything. Reel it slow and it wiggles through the water like a wake bait or speed up and dive it. If I have a day I can't catch bass I tie it on and catch something every time. Natural brown color.
I feel like you guys read my mind then made this video lol great job guys!
Thanks, I have just recently gotten into ultralight
So fun!
If you have a hard time finding 13 fishing rods, they make them for Scheels store brand. Just picked up a UL combo when I was on vacation In Omaha and it’s awesome and less expensive than 13 fishing branded rods. Okuma also private labels reels for the combos and they really rock.
I have a carbon lite 2.0 limited edition reel on my 7ft lite defy silver on mine and I love it and another light rod is the Shimano senselite it's 50$.
Just found this video. Lots of great info. I subscribed and also followed your Mule Fishing link and order tons of jigs from them so hopefully this will help you two out some!
🙌 Thank you!
I use a swivel and mono 4#. No issues and catch a lot of fish in Az.
That inspira is an awesome reel!
Leland lures Trout Slayer craw kit!! Try it under a float!
I’ve been meaning to buy a small tackle box like the Buzbe ones or one of the Plano Edge 3500. I love ultralight and bfs fishing so this is all on track for me.
🤘
I got that defy silver. In 7ft ultralight Love that rod
I love 1/8 spinner baits. You guys should try them. Maxx Bass makes a good 1/8oz spinner that is still larger in size but at that 1/8oz. This unlike Boomyah and Strike King. Their 1/8oz spinner baits are really small.
Wow super nice 🤩🤩🥳 i really like it....
I’ve had crazy luck on the zman trd hogz and Ned shrimpz for smallmouth in my area
I have the Defy Silver 5'-6'' with an Okuma Ceymar Tactical green 1000 size , amazing setup for UL fishing . I love it . Caught a lot of perch , crappies and even smallmouth on it.
How do you like the balance of the 1000 with the 5’6 rod.
@@jessebarrera5471 1000 reel is the perfect size for this rod , don't go smaller ! A light 2000 reel could also be perfect ( a Daiwa LT reel for example )
@@JBC69Thank you! I'm looking forward to hitting my waters with this combo soon,
This is all you need. Diawa Presso 7' UL..... Diawa legatis reel or similar......Trout magnets in bison color. $150.00 tops and you have a sweet set up.
Googan micro hard baits are my go to hard baits on my ultralight / light set up
If y’all are interested in high end bfs fishing, grab the 2022 aldeberan and pair with old 18 suppressor UL rod
It would be awesome if you did some more videos on UL fishing. After your live the other night I am hooked!!
Will do!
You should have the best catch all for rivers. The phoebe.
Wow. Thanks for all the great info. I'm just getting into light and ultralight fishing and love it. You didn't mention eurotackle. Any impressions on their products? Thanks!
I have eurotackle stuff, but I haven’t had as much luck on it. Always open to keep trying though
Great shot out to classic slipknot
I love swim baits
# 1 drop shot
Had to turn on the bell 🔔
🙌
I’m ready for the Monster Bass UL rod. The Burly special. My favorite way to fish
The 13 Defy silver is hard to beat. I absolutely love mine. Paired with a Kastking zephyr sfs and it’s like a feather.
Great choices in product.
I use the okuma celilo 6ft and okuma ceymar and they’re wonderful. And mule fishing equipment is just a MUST have for beginners or dedicated ultralight anglers. Stunning quality and affordability
K kk by
Good to see more positive reviews on the ceymar reels. I use mostly a 30 series for trout. What do you guys think of the Okuma celilio ultralight rods as a budget option like 25-40 bucks roughly
Never used the celilio... and pretty sure I won't . I haven't had much luck in that price range. I wish Okuma had an option at a slightly more premium tier. It makes a big difference just having the better components.
Thanks for the video and great Info. Out here in San Antonio TX I been doing good with the gulp alive minnows and the powerbait honey worms for pan fish I just started using the mule products which are doing great too.
Rebel crawdad crankbait dont forget twitching like top water around laydowns
Mister twister/trout magnet helgrammites on a small ned
Would you pair the Donkey Tails with the Nedlockz EWG? I am looking for a weedless jig for them.
Yes!
I got an ultralight Celilo 7’6’’, w/ a ceymar 30 reel. What type of braid can I spool it with and what # leader can I tie to it
Whatever braid you want. Depends on how light you want to go. 8-10 lb braid to a 4-6 lb leader is a good place to start.
Hi guys! Love the channel . Im just getting started. I have a light rod with 500 reel. Can I the same setups your using for Ultra lite rod and reel set up?
Ideally you want an ultralight rod for the stuff in this video. But you can get away with it. You'll want to use heavier line though to match your rod power.
@@aaanglers thank you!! You guys are great! I’m learning a lot from you.
how do you match your leader to your braid like what do you look for line diameter or?
Rule of thumb is to use line that is half the lb test of your braid. So 8 lb braid to 4 lb fluorocarbon.
I've just got an ultra light outfit, it consists of an Abu Garcia Devil 7ft
5g to 15g rod,
an Abu 506 mk2 reel,
(yep, I'm an Abu fanboy lol,)
4lb. Monofilament line, and a selection of Rapala/Salmo plugs,,
I'm returning to fishing after many years, and this is the "starter" set up, which I'll hopefully expand as funds permit,,
What do you guys think of my choices ??..
That rig will do it! Sounds good!
What's it going to cost for a box of lures
If you guys put together a starter kit with all of these products, you would make a ton of $
For baits probably trout magnet
What hooks are you using for the plastics? My "weedless" talents are lacking and I need to practice/perfect.
Ned lockz from zman are great for neds. Gamakatsu ewg in a 1/0 or 2/0 are great for finesse as well
@@aaanglers I got some Mule jigs today too - thanks!
What other small soft plastics would you suggest? It appears the Mule fishing Donkey Jr are sold out everywherel
Check out Bait Finesse Empire. Lots of options.
@@aaanglers Thanks, loving your content. I have 3 ponds on my farm loaded with bream and warmouth. So ultralight is the name of the game.
Interesting...I didn't see you mention any tubes. Do you not have much luck with them?
I have, but I don’t ultralight them
Why do u need a liter for a ultra lite setup can you use just braid or fluorocarbon
you don't, we just prefer it. Braid for casting and leader for clear water, line shy fish.
I'm having issues casting 1/24 oz rooster tail on a lews mach lite combo 15 lbs braid I couldn't find thinner braid the rod is rated 1/32oz not sure max weight I'd have to look at it but it's not casting more than 10 feet of course upping weight would probably work a little better but I bought it for ultra ultra light
I would google some downsized braid. For ultralight, we like 10 lbs or less. Mine has 6 lb braid to 4 lb fluorocarbon leader right now
@@aaanglers I switched to 10 lbs and used a 1/16 since it was little windy today and it was casting like budder thank you!
What kind of knot do you use for 6 lb braid to lighter test flouro?
Alberto works great
@paulkavska1941
I would do the improved Alberto. As for knot at the hook definitely when using floro the double pitzen.
Ive heard you mention Michigan many times. Just wondering what part of MI you in.
Im in Coldwater/Quincy area.
Jackson area!
Awesome. My sister is in Hanover and I used to work for Aunt Millie bakery - Coldwater/Jackson/Fort Wayne.
Not far from me actually. Love the vids! New to kayak fishing.
No Megabass karashi mentioned is a sin to ultralight/BFS fishing 😂😂
Cant have everything in hand lol
Have you seen the new Buzby boxes?
The thin ones?
Yes, the colony 8t. They are nice.
What kind of finesse jigs are those and where can I get them?please respond
Not sure which ones you are referring to. Probably Mule Fishing
@@aaanglers the purple finesse jig 1/8 ounce with the z man trd bug trailer?
0:01 dang why you hit me with the what’s up nerds 😢
Our entire community is nerds. We are nerds, for fishing
I literally never get bird nests with my Power Pro.
I can't find the dufy 56 anywhere, only the 66 or 7 feet
defy silver on fish usa in 5 and 56
Total nut tapped dat bell
Medium/light rod will cast these farther than a medium rod?
It depends on line diameter and weight of the lure. We're talking ultralight here
@@aaanglers I’m casting z man micros on a 6’3” medium /xfast …they don’t go far lol would a medium light/ xfast cast them farther?
@TRUTHandANSWERS got it, yes, lighter tackle will cast further on lighter rods
@@aaanglersbought a cashion ultra light today. Hope I did good!
what size work house mule jigs??
1/16 oz is great for ultralight
@@aaanglers thank you i’m just getting into it and i’m hearing 1 32nd or 3 32nd what’s the difference is it just preference or does one catch bigger fish than the other what’s the big difference with all these sizes
I just stocked up for fall freshwater and salt fish…my wallet can’t take this anymore. 😢😢
Haha, story of a fishermans life!
Japan the bes
Damn that backpack is 380 dollars.
Got a 7ft today 🤦🏻♂️
Wait. WUT? Meps is an old man bait? Man, that hurts!
And we love it. It is a classic lure
Why don’t you all have 3Xl in your shirts I do. Now I can’t wear it on my live show
Sorry man, we’re at the mercy of the shirt company
How does a reel get you a PB? come on man.
A reel does not. We are saying that you CAN catch a PB on Ultralight
I don't understand why these clowns on these videos keep pushing these Wal Mart quality rod and reel combo. They are crap. They are rods with no feel, or balance or casting quality and the reels are no better. Buy something good the first time out and safe yourself the hassle of having to do it over correctly the second time. Any rod and reel combo that costs less then $225 isn't worth buying.
Calm down man. Some people just need an entry level to see if its for them. We catch plenty of fish on these and have a blast. I don’t understand how people don’t understand how to just have normal communication. Try commenting like this: “in my opinion it’s better to go up to a 225 combo for better quality.” Not that hard bro. No need to be so rude all the time. Have a day.
The irony of “clown”
This would be a great video if each of you would stop trying to talk over the other person. It is rude, very annoying, and distracts from the information.
We aren’t scripted… so that’s probably always gonna happen. It’s real life. But there are plenty of great scripted shows if we aren’t your cup of tea 😂
