- Hello everyone in todays video its the long awaited family day and graduation from MCRD SAN DIEGO!! My brother did it he is a Marine!! A few comments since I’m here today for my marine: 1) After your car has been inspected, no civilians seems to know where to drive into the lot by the parade deck parking lot. 2) Commercial planes fly ever 10 minutes since the airport is just next to the base. 3) Your marine is craving for real food so just take them to the Bay restaurant and order a large meal for them to their content. After, hit the mart and get them their sweets, chips and juices. 4) I thought the parade deck was sacred yet after the graduation, civilians are running all over the deck with no respect. 5) Your marine has never been over to the food court area so he’s just as lost as you are on where to get food and stuff. LOL

Thank you for sharing your video, I was in the Marines from 1974 to 1980. my grandson is now in Boot camp, my question is if you can answer it? which Hotel should we stay at near MCRD? My wife and daughter will be there at the end of Oct. so 3 of us will be in a room. Thank you. We live in Kansas. :)

I actually live like 40 min away from base so we didn’t have to fly so I don’t know but hopefully someone else in the comments can reply to you with an answer!! 🥰 also congrats to your son 🫡

No you don’t need to purchase any!!
What time was graduation over & were they able to head home?
Graduation was done a little before 11 am and yes right after they are aloud to go home with you!

I ended arriving around 7am on family day and for graduation around 8!

Would you recommend driving to the base or just taking an uber there?
Depends how far you are from base I was 45 min out and I drove there it wasn’t too bad ! I feel it’s easier if your bringing your marine any snacks or food to take your own car ! 😁
