    I can confirm this mod works on a 2018 WRX. Took me about 25 mins to install with a jack and jack stands. I Also have the perrin shift stop but the bushing so far has proved to be more beneficial. After installing the bushing the shifter feels a bit tighter and there is less noise and clanking when shifting. Its also helps the shifter snap into gear faster and basically improves shifter feel. Glad I purchased it.

    Just did this on my '19. Word of advice is the bushing can be stuck in there. Instead of fighting it use WD40 and it'll slide right out. Also, THAT COTTER PIN CAN GO FLYING, and it'll add 30 minutes to your job looking for it on the garage floor.

    Great product. Virtually no play with the shifter while in gear. The screwdriver leverage method didn't quite work for me. I found that applying pressure with my thumb on the center of the bushing to be much easier. I may have loosened it a bit with the screwdriver but was able to push it out with my thumb in a few seconds.

    🚨 if you are having trouble getting the new bushing on like I was, try taking a small piece of sand paper to the rod the bushing goes on. This was the only way I could get the new bushing on!

    Just installed my Perrin shift stop and brass bushing. Took me 15 minutes for the shift stop, and about 45 for the bushing since I jacked my car and had to cram under and it is in a pretty awkward spot.

    Forgive me, I am noob. But, why does Subaru use rubber if brass/metal is that much better? Does any more vibration come up through the shifter after switching to brass? Just curious before I order one. Thanks for the video!

    • @SubiSpeed
      @SubiSpeed  10 років тому +3

      Rubber is cheaper when building thousands of cars, also it absorbs any possible vibration. We did not notice any new vibration with this mod. But to anyone asking us about additional vibrations and etc after modifying a car, I always tell them to leave it stock. If you like the stock feel then don't mess with it. :) If looking for something a bit more sporty and connected feel to the mechanical workings then it's a perfect simple mod.

    • @SubiSpeed
      @SubiSpeed  10 років тому

      Comes down to cost of production for Subaru. Rubber is less expensive and easier to manufacture. There is a slight increase in vibration at idle, but it is hardly noticeable.

    I assuming this uses a 2-cable system as I haven't had a chance to look at the shift mechanism yet. If it does, is the cable in the video the front-to-back shifter cable or the left-to-right shifter cable? Also, would the other shifter cable use the same bushing?

      Warranty's can't be voided, a mod can only give them reason to deny the claim. The mod would also have to directly affect the broken piece that is covered by the warranty to be used as a reason to deny the claim.

      Just saying my bushing would go onto the little shaft, OR go into the hole for the linkage (with a LOT, A WHOLE LOT of difficulty), i stressed and shoved and sweated trying to get both things to line up and it simply would not get the angle to install correctly, no matter which part i installed it into 1st. My bushing was NEVER going to fit on both, i even countersunk the inside to give the install angle less of a lip to overcome and still nothing, the rubber gasket eventually broke off so i threw the thing across the garage, then found it to return it. I found many similar complaints in the product review, wondering if they should try another batch bc theirs was NEVER going to fit either.
