    Really interesting to see your process. Completely not suprised that the 'drums' section was most of this video it's definitely where I spend the bulk of my time setting up and tweaking when recording jams.

      Haha agreed! I can spend sooooo much time on drums if I’m not careful 😅 it’s funny because I’m primarily a guitarist but guitar kind of becomes the afterthought because I get so into the drums lol

    Here is one thing that I’ve been able to do to add some swing and humanization to things like ahigh hat groove. Record a little bit of empty space right before your high hat sample. You have to be able to resample to do this now lay on your hats on the sequencer, and nudge them early. now use an LFO to randomly change the start point of the sample just a little bit.

    i keep coming back to your videos. great stuff
    man im in a pickle now. the price of the digitakt 2 down here in australia is around $1800. i can get a ableton move AND a blackbox on marketplace for much less then a digitakt2, i miss my digitakt quite a bit but the having a octatrack i dont know if i need one (but i just miss it and we all know how that goes with gear)
    your looping videos with the blackbox has my interest peaked on one of those

      Thanks so much man!! Yikes that’s expensive for the DTII…. But if you already have the octatrack I bet a Blackbox/Octatrack combo would be epic!

    This is great. Really nice to see your process of making a short track, would love to see more in the future. Are you just using an octaver for the bass part?

    • @tjguardino
      @tjguardino  3 місяці тому +1

      Thanks!! Much appreciated! Yes, using an octave down into a bass amp sim.. that’s pretty much it!

    I see I’m not the only one enjoying seeing your progress with this setup since the last vid! There’s definitely a shortcut for global microtiming on the DT, but I don’t know it by heart
    Have you ever played around with a midi (pad) controller and the blackbox? It brings 1-click loop recording for all pads from the homescreen, plus you can put level and filter on dedicated knobs. Granted, it adds another device. But it adds so much immediacy that it’s worth it for me!

      Ahh I haven’t yet, but I absolutely need to! Being able to finger drum on pads AND one touch recording would be ⚡️⚡️⚡️

      @@tjguardino The only thing I don't like about the blackbox is the touchscreen interface with all the pages and such. I've had the ESI Xjam connected which makes the looping process truly perfect. I had four blackbox-pads set up as loopers and for each looper I had three midi-pads: REC, PLAY/STOP and CLEAR.
      You could definitely set up a second page on the controller to do finger-drumming on the Digitakt! I'm currently setting up a more advanced controller to control more functions in my setup. Probably the midi fighter twister

    This was again awesome. Really digging the vibe. If you wanted to could you create a similar drum sequence on the back box? Clearly the digitakt has way more optionality…but if you were on the move with just the Hx and the BB could you get close?

    • @tjguardino
      @tjguardino  3 місяці тому

      Thanks so much!You absolutely could! The blackbox is a powerful sampler in addition to being a great looping device :)

    Subbed. New to the digitakt as well and as a guitar player I am very interested in watch your process and set up.

      Awesome!! Guitars and grooveboxes pair so well together I love finding other folks who use both 😎

    Could you use ipad with loopy pro in place of the black box using stomp as interface? So, it would go... Stomp into ipad loopy via usb then into digitakt via audio for the compressor and drums?

    • @tjguardino
      @tjguardino  15 днів тому +1

      Yes I think that would work fine! You might just need some adapters to get audio from iPad into Digitakt if the USB port is occupied by HX Stomp
