My favorite feature is the expanded ram and content space. After that, it's the stereo sound. My friend got a DTII and played me a few tracks and I was sold. Sample loading with the current version of Transfer is concerning, but I was able to load samples one folder at a time without crashing. Hope they fix that soon.
Awesome! Just opened up my package from Thomann! I didn't have the Digitakt mk1 before, but it's amazing how hands-on this thing is, and it sounds great too!
Thank you for the video, love the "trick" at the end. I hadn't gotten to putting Euclidean sequencer patterns as trigs on the tracks, that is a VERY useful function to know.
I get that these videos aren't aimed at me.... but as someone looking to get into one of these things for the first time, this looks super intimidating!
You probly wanna start with an OG Digitakt or a Syntakt. More basic entry to the Elektron workflow. Digitakt 2 is a little more complicated. I got used to my 1st Elektron device after about a week or two of working with it a few hours every afternoon. Once you get it, it sticks though, mainreason ppl like them so much is the workflow.
Thanks for the video! - Is there a way to get rid of the "clicks" at the start of sliced clips? Like fade-ins or crossfades? The clicks in your demonstration of the grid mode are quite pronounced imo.
Exactly this. I won’t upgrade until they add those features. If they don’t, they’re idiots. Every other sampler does all of the things you mentioned and more.
Cool video! Didn’t know that the vel could be used as a mod source :) Re the slicing and random locks, was your 303 loop the same bpm as your sequence bpm (because it sounded quite in sync with the tempo) or you usually do not pay attention to that?
Oora, the intro. audio clip, you did here, is brilliant! Not that i've heard nearly all of your work, but this little intro is some of your best work (for me of course). Also, just wondering if you have used it in a finished song, or if you're currently working on a piece that has the intro in it? It's simply gorgeous, man! I do, would though, really like to hear it further developed in a completed song. Please let us know if, and/or when it may be completed...my fingers are crossed.
This is great, glad you were sent one and are enjoying it! I've been really loving mine paired with the Perfourmer running through the Empress Reverb, I feel like I can do anything 💜 (also I have the same poster from Analog Heat+FX on my wall behind me 😎)
hi and thank you for the tuto , how to have the auto preview always activated, each time I leave the sound bank and come back to choose a sound I have to reactivate it, thank you very much
It was worth mentioning that unlike the OT slicing, you can’t set custom start and end points for each slice, so chopping things like vocal or melodic samples up that aren’t already perfectly on grid is only so useful
This, and the ability to actually link two or more tracks to make samples play polyphonically, are the only two things on my wishlist honestly. But those limitations are pretty easily worked around, and I love the device so far otherwise.
New to the channel. Great video! DT2 is the best thing since (and including) sliced bread. You gave 10 reasons why - plus there's also the new chorus effect and I believe it also has time/pitch stretching?
@@OoraMusic "page loop functionality in GRID RECORDING mode, the master playback position is now indicated by a blinking TRIG key on the top row (TRIG 1-8), and the currently played looping page is indicated by a blinking TRIG key on the bottom row (TRIG 9-16)."
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been looking at a lot of vids, and would really like one. But then I have a Maschine plus, and if I see what Maschine does vs DT2, honestly I think M+ does more. It doesn’t have a few things like choose if a note is played or not, but that’s no biggie and I can do that with M+ in standalone, controlled by reason (via midi) and that way I can do Euclidean, scales, arps, note repeat and so on. Also more fx, drum synth, better audio editor and stretching, built in synths…Biggest pro is Maschine has an arrangement/ better song mode. So what can you guys say to get me along the elektron path (syntakt is on my list together with the dt2) or should I just stay with Maschine plus?
it is really hard to say mate. I have M+ and obviously it can be a way more capable machine, IF you like the workflow. I am an elektron guy and to me nothing beats it to me. At this point we have lot of options and you just have to find the one that resonates with you!
Maschine is a daw . Digitakt is an instrument ( and of course , a sampler ) , It allows to increase your creativity by manipulating samples as you want and sequencing them in an infinite way
Maaaaan.... The perpetual struggle between getting this or the Octatrack... I've been in this limbo for the last 2 years haha. And Digitakt II doesn't make it easier because it still doesn't have transient detection or manual slicing for samples, which sort of drives me crazy haha. This thing does look really cool though. I have an MPC, which works great for synthy hip-hop, DnB, and a lot in general, but it can be really tedious to get into glitchier/IDM style sounds, which is the other big part of how I like making music... Bottom line... Elektron's gotta get the manual slicing on this thing... haha. Edit: Dang... your last point about the resampling and looping on the Octatrack really pushed me in the direction of the OT.
I just had my first proper deep session with the DT2, I'm utterly in love. Great news about Overbridge on the horizon?? Are we talking weeks until the Public Beta launches, or the full release?
Has anyone figured out the issue with the +drive corrupting samples after around 9 or 10 gb has been transferred to the unit. It's VERY frustrating!!!!!!

I wonder at what point Elektron, Polyend, OXI, Deluge, etc all have software feature parity, then it only becomes a matter of what hardware you prefer to use. Something with more performance controls and I/O might win, right?
The main differentiator is workflow. MPC is probably most capable box of them all and feature/price ratio is phenomenal and still Electron is way more fun and fast to use. It it was about features only, there would be no place for those boxes since DAW has more features than any of them have.
If they could just make this a keyboard sampler like the old Analog Keys form factor so I would love it.. Also a bigger screen similar to Waldorf Iridium. Just bigger! Ha ha
Exactly what I did. I bought the OT before the DTII came out but decided to keep instead cause it’s different enough and it has the cross fader/ extra ins.
i really miss the digitakt (i sold it after getting my octatract). i wanted live looping cause im a guitar player first and formost and realised i could only sample>same>save> assign on the digi so i got the octa and digi got sold. but man oh man i miss its straight to the point operation. if a firmware update gave the digi the ability to sample directly to a step (with possibly pre saved trigs) without needing to name/save then i would probably ditch the octa purely for the form factor being better with the DT2
i would have seen so badly a digitakt 2 as octatrack killer. why not make it bigger and with more ins and outs? as amazing as it is now. it still don't fit in my workflow cause i cant integrate with only 2 stereo pairs 😞
@@OoraMusicElektron know there are bunch of bugs with the Transfer app and seem to be on the case. Hopefully sample transfer will get better at some point soon when Transfer is updated.
Its important to point out that OT slicing allows you to choose start and end points of each slice whereas DT2 doesnt. At the moment, DT1 and 2 slice mode is still just a useful gimmick, but without the real power of a proper user choice slice ability.
