@@LizzyDidntDoIt I didn't recognize the bottle, but it was likely shaoxing wine. I buy it in the pretty ceramic crock that looks nice on the shelf after the wine is gone. Several of the bottled varieties are really nice too. Pick one you like - they're not terribly expensive, so you can try them and decide.

Chinese cooking wine is easily obtained and is what gives authentic Chinese food that "Chinese food" taste. Granted, a lot of American Chinese restaurants have started leaving the Xiao Xing wine out because they know Americans don't know the difference, so it saves them money. But using Xiao Xing wine makes all the difference!

Whew! I sure like Bok Choy. It didn't exist for us when I was a kid. I only just started trying to actually cook it myself (and I don't really know how to cook, but I DO cook spinach and other greens, it all ends up being pretty easy) and it is a regular item in the local grocery. Also, first time buying oyster sauce. Surprised how big the ginger slices are. Thanks! Yeah!

I have to say that i was pleasantly surprised. I'm an ABC and was never taught to cook so I'm self taught. I typically stir fry the bok choy with oil but i tried it her way and it came out really crunchy. The ginger and rice wine is a nice touchand gives it just a little bit more taste. One recommendation is to add measurements in the comment section.
