5 key lifestyle changes empaths need to make

  • In this video I discuss 5 key lifestyle changes/strategies that will help the empath begin to reclaim their energy and honour their body. Empaths are well known for neglecting their physical needs, often to a point of martyrdom. An essential part of the recovery journey for all empaths is to learn that their body has legitimate needs which must be made a top priority. Without doing so, the empath will continue to perpetuate their self-sacrificing ways, breeding resentment and non-reciprocal relationships.
    *The ending to the video was cut short by a few seconds. I was finishing up by saying that my next video will be on 5 ways the empath self-sabotages in the workplace.

      Fruit Loops. We call them Fruit Loops. 8) Cookies, pronounced more like lookies than kookies. Look, not kook. We get it, not too many simple starches, carbs, sugars in the AM. Absolutely agree. Another good vid by you! thanks!

      Pamela Christian Oh honey, you're in for a lifetime of suffering and illness if you maintain this type of rose-colored thinking. Of course love is innately good but then there's the martyr... When you make yourself sick (I'm assuming you're the empath and not the narcissist), you'll hopefully remember this and begin your recovery before it's too late. Perhaps you're too young to understand yet what you're doing to yourself...

      I am also an INFJ...I was married and then divorced by a (what I now believe) is a narcissist. I am now engaged to a woman who I recently became fearful is also a narcissist. I think she has the tendency but is not as severe a narcissist....not sure if I should be concerned as everyone has issues and I'm sure I will always be with someone who has narcissistic tendencies as I have always had, and continue to have, codependent/empathic tendencies....any thoughts welcome. :-)

      Brandon Dudley Premarital counseling would be helpful, especially if they could give you some insight in what they glean from both of you. Of course, family and friends are a good resource. My family and friends picked up certain cues that I didn’t see till much later.

Excellent job especially about understanding the role of the CNS and minerals like magnesium, your compilation and use of current relevant understandings of how the body is impacted by trauma and how people can start to have hope for a re set is refreshing.

    I had to smile sheepishly, recognizing that I need to make all 5 of these changes. Just recently having resolved that I need to take better care of myself, I would like to respectfully add 2 more items to the list, strategies that I find lacking in myself: learning how to breathe more deeply throughout the day, and taking the time to exercise or move my body in some pleasurable way such as taking a nice walk or dancing. I only drink herbal tea, organic and the water I use is high alkaline. I burned out my adrenals, had incredibly low cortisol, but have remedied that and several other symptoms with high quality supplements. Stress literally is a killer. I have fibromyalgia. Run from stress, don't allow high anxiety and stress to go on and on, because you can possibly become ill as I did. Do not take on others' problems and burdens. People with problems are drawn to us as we are so compassionate and empathetic. Limit your time with those people or even choose to walk away. Don't lose your health as I did..........you don't realize how important it is until it's gone. Blessings.

      Definitely a night owl! I hate going to bed before 2am and especially during the summer because the night comes so late (sundown at 9pm) so I'm up chasing the night. 11pm-2am are the times most people are in bed so that gives me my quiet time to get in tune with my creative side. Also, too many hours/days of sunlight causes me to become anxious and depressed. Love rainy or overcast days!!

I try to limit my coffee,eat lots of almonds(always thought it was the magnesium i craved but didnt know why),have my alarm set for the same time every morning(though wake up before it).Recently have started a paleo type diet but havent been taking too much protein in the morning ,which i may try after watching this. Never fit in but am able to assimilate into almost any group but never really ^click^ with people. Used to feel i was lacking something but have realised actually im just different.Thanks for the insights. I have been listening to you off and on the last 2 years but I was universally brought back and i have been watching video after video and finally hearing someone acknowledge everything I know to be true about me...and and in being sagittarius and whew you get my struggle! I put my life on hold 11/23/16 to figure out what was going on why has everything been spiralling out of control for 17+ years and I figured things out for myself but you have put it all in order and given it validity through your research! I can not thank you enough! Thank you soooo much!

    As you said, coffee masks the fatigue. Coffee does not activate body energy but actually blocks the enzyme which shuts down activated cells. If you happy and drink coffee you be longer happy, if you sad you be longer sad etc, and in both cases, feeling tired after . Great video, Thank you

    As an empath, I would love to keep people I hardly know from telling all of their life problems on me. Because that’s impossible, do you have a video to help us to erase what they tell us so that we don’t have their problems running through our minds while we try to sleep? I experience restless sleep when people dump their problems on me as if my subconscious is busy trying to find a solution for their problems. A video on this topic would be wonderful,

      Cmathias86 I learned to school myself to keep my face passive (expressionless) when approached by drama/problem dumpers. I will listen, but then ask the question "so, what are you going to do about it". This politely but firmly hands the problem back to them. They eventually stop using you as first port of call for future dramas/problems when they recognise, subliminally or otherwise, that you are not reacting to what they want. If you find you can't sleep ruminating on others problems, then take your mind to a happy place (plan a holiday, recall celebration, etc) to lift your mood and self distract until you naturally fall asleep.

    Excellent, excellent video! You hit the NAIL ON THE HEAD! Point after point you described me and the lifestyle changes I urgently need to make.
    Only thing I didn't like in this video is you recommending eggs or whey protein, twice. The dairy industry and egg industry are absolutely horrible. What does eating products from animals that were full of anxiety, confusion and fear do to us? Not good. Vegan and plant-based is the way, especially for an empath.

    • @ahershey8523

      what do you eat for breakfast usually?

    • @elisasophiagrace6547
      @elisasophiagrace6547 7 років тому +44

      Eggs and whey are wonderful sources of protein and are very grounding to the spirit into this earthly plane. There are organic and local farm to table options when purchasing these foods. Also, a single "way of eating" does not work for everyone's health or body type. We need to find out what works best for us as individuals and this changes frequently over time. So, I think these are great basic starting off points on this journey of self-care for the empath. Blessed be ~

    • @ErinJanus
      @ErinJanus 7 років тому +10

      A Hershey, for breakfast I sometimes have a vegan smoothie with greens and protein powder, or almond cashew yogurt with healthy granola, or maple walnut or pecan oatmeal. 100% vegan, 100% cruelty-free, and healthy! :)

    • @ErinJanus
      @ErinJanus 7 років тому +16

      The Celestial Enchantress, organic and local farm to table options are still cruel and unethical. Egg-laying hens have been selectively bred to produce 300+ eggs a year, when it is only natural and healthy for them to produce less than 20 per year. They often die of preventable diseases due to the over-production of eggs, and suffer (and die) from egg binding, egg yolk peritonitis, ovarian cancer, and more. All egg laying hens are usually slaughtered at a fraction of their natural lifespan when their egg production declines if they don't already die of complications. Please educate yourself. And you do not need to eat any 'single' way, but you certainly also do not need to eat the eggs of exploited birds, or any animal protein for that matter to be healthy and fulfilled. Blessed be ~

I live in an area where we have a “research park” for huge companies like IBM, SAS, Big pharma etc. She told me that there is a tendency for more narcissists around these types of companies and computer geeks etc. It makes sense. I am an accused narcissist from a fan of your page, I think your videos are very helpful and informative and I have learned quite a bit watching them. You might think this is narcissistic, but I think some of your followers might be using this concept as a crutch. The key in my mind for people who believe they have been "taken advantage of" is to increase their self esteem, and not rely on someone to provide them happiness, but be happy internally. Thanks for your work, it is very informative. If you could respond to my comment and give me your opinion I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

    • @maekong2010
      @maekong2010 7 років тому +19

      Hello, Robert. While being "taken advantage of" is a common and quite annoying phenomenon that can and does happen to most people at some point, what happens as a consequence of malignant narcissism is both unexpected due to its covert nature and adversely life-changing for most people due to its nefarious nature. One, is a repeated life pattern resulting from, among other things, insufficient self-value coupled with the mistaken belief that happiness can be derived from pleasing others, while the other is a soul-ripping, debilitating assault that quite often leads to early and/or untimely death.
      True narcissists are detectable only by individuals with previous personal experience or who have seen numerous videos like this one in an attempt to understand what is happening to somebody else. The dawning of awareness for most comes with the realization that he or she is just another in a long line of broken bodies, minds, and souls of undeserving individuals that the disordered (so-called because narcissists are not the only purveyors of this range of destruction) entity leaves in its wake. While it is often true that victims of malignant narcissism have underlying issues and some of the needs you outlined (reliance on others for a sense of completion and happiness, for example), those issues are not always pronounced, and regardless, are certainly not a crime.
      What the narcissist does is malicious and should be considered criminal; the victim needs to be defended and/or treated. In most cases, it is unrealistic to expect someone so-debilitated to find their way out of their quandary alone or to be able to make the necessary changes that you imply would end the cycle (and for the most part, rightly so). What I hope you would take away from this is that very few would be willing to use their own destruction as a crutch, even unwittingly.
      Perhaps you should ask yourself, how would you feel if someone close to you, say a daughter or a close friend fell victim to a malignant narcissist... If the answer is something like sorry, troubled, or angry, you are likely not a narcissist, but simply an emotionally distant, pragmatic and self-actualized individual with some narcissistic tendencies (all of which fall within the range of acceptable human behavior). Given the opportunity, I would tell whoever is accusing you that yours are characteristics society needs and that malignant narcissism is quite another matter and shouldn't be bandied about lightly. I, for one, don't get that from what you wrote.
      Have a great day. Unless I am wrong in my assessment, in which case, die a painful, lingering death. ;-)

      Nope. That is a crutch. When u understand fully you will find that can be part of it but it is also much deeper than that sometimes. Dig deeper then assert. Find some intelligible reading and do your research then asked an informed question. Don't ask the Dr to do the research for you. I could make a sweeping generalization and suggest narcissist are lazy or prefer others to the work but it's actually deeper than that also.

    • @georgouspeach
      @georgouspeach 6 років тому

      Maekong Mike good for u. But he should be given the tools to do the work instead of u handing it to him. That s partly how some of them get created and the empath enables the behavior by doing it for them and as such then surely nothing is wrong with the narc because you chose this and they can not think beyond that point as unfortunate as the implications of that thought is.

    I hate breakfast. But again, make myself eat by 9am. I cannot eat eggs bc I am allergic. I eat Oatmeal with MCT oil, chia seeds and it has helped my blood sugar crashes too.
    I cut down to one cup of coffee a day. But still love tea. So when I need a afternoon pick me up-it is all green tea. But somedays-it isnt enough.
    I drink tons of water by habit now. Again it helped me to recognize that problem when I had kids. Cannot nurse when you are dehydrated.

    Coffee makes the body also acidic, which increases the risk of heart attack and stroke at older age. It's better to drink lemon water, teas (herbs not fruits) and green smoothies for holding it alkaline.

Maple syrup--same chemicals almost as regular sugar with a few microns of different flavorings. (I mean natural maple sugar--syrup--it's sugar.) Anyone who is diabetic on insulin will have to learn the hard way if they don't know already.

    I gave up trying to live a 'normal' life and I stay home most of the time. I love staying up at night, sometimes I work in the yard at 3am and my only company is a stray cat I feed.

    Great video! I survived my narcissistic home by making everyone discuss health and diet a lot, for some reason narcs enjoy this. They get quite motivated with you to become "perfect". So I reduced a lot of cortisol release with tea, meditation and protein. However beware the narcissist will use your stress illness against you, to excuse their abuse. For instance the constant distress gave me a hormonal imbalance and developed polycystic ovaries (an expression of anger over the constant attack on femininity and creativity.) my mother said this disease made me say crazy things when I was standing up to her abuse.

      As a child I sketched beautifully until my mother said crazy people did drawings. I stopped sketching. She criticized everything I did until she passed away. Today my creativity comes through sketching and needle arts. She was very pathetic.

      Oh wooow. All you write here is almost like I have written myself. Is very surprising, I have polycystic ovaries too and always have felt the way you described. My mom have been very aggressive with my and my feminity, like she was in an absurd permanent competition with me (sorry for my bad English).

    Thanks for your videos. They're incredibly helpful. I relate to all of this, but I don't understand the link between empaths and these particular lifestyle habits. In the U.S., it seems nearly everyone struggles with all five of these. Perhaps you could do a short follow up explaining why you see more of this with empaths.

      Hi Brett - it's because empath's are conditioned to deny their own needs, including physical so as a group they tend to have worse health outcomes compared to others. Although I agree, large chunks of the population struggle with these things too but the empath, I believe, is particularly vulnerable to them.

      Just even being labeled as an empath gives me a sense of dignity...which I automatically want to transfer as a gift to narcissists everywhere. Is there really no hope anywhere, anyhow for the Shy Covert Narc even? As I sit safely at a distance having escaped what could've been deadly, I can't help but want to share good news, even if it's of no benefit to me.

      +Vital Mind Psychology ~~~> thankyou, absolutely, very good reminder to revisit cause. Narcs etc. can read the energy signature of depletion, heightened awareness, willingness to sacrifice. By giving to self, brings one into normal energy, grounded, less vulnerable to destabilise, which is how "they" are able to commence draining you. Plug the leaks. It's how "they" create doubts, start the IV of your energetic system.

      +kaylashalaylaaaaa ~~~> I think it's coming from both directions, the sensitive, creative child is bullied, made a scapegoat by narc parents, or others, and retreats further into inner resources to find safety. Narcs and that spectrum, have little resource to stream originality and create, they depend upon bothering the sensitives for their energy, vampire it, look for a hook in point. The sharks ate hunting for blood in the water, and children of narc parents have no defence from the moment they take breath, all their conditioning is in the hands of the predator. They are molded to be of useful service! And so it is! If not for that conditioning I think they would still be gifted and sensitive, only have better boundaries, and not be vulnerable to predators.
