I play games, sometimes the not intended way and have a good time.
Can you beat Final Fantasy III PR with only White mage?
In this video I attempt to finish Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster with only using a party of White mages. Can our magic light the way to victory or will darkness fall upon us.
I apologize in advance for anything I have pronounced wrong in this video or not using the most viable strategy at times.
Since This is a long video I have decided to start putting timestamps in the description so you can jump and skip to whichever part you want.

Can you beat Final Fantasy III using Onion Knight only?

In this video I attempt to beat Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster with only using Onion Knight. This is ridiculous idea I had for a while, so I decided to actually do it. This is the first video I ever made doing something like this, so this is very scuff quality. Special thanks to everyone who came to the wedding. You are all beautiful people and never forget that.
Seems like the onion knight is a useless class. Why isn't this class more like the final class you can get like near the end game instead?
Just found this video and it's made me start my own run of this. Just beat Hein, which was painful because i didn't have any damaging items to use. Now I'm trying to farm up some before the next boss.
@@paulhiggins6433 hein without damaging items is insane. Good to hear you came out victorious!
@@solitaryscargaming I chipped him basic attacks down with one spamming high potions. That worked for Kraken and Goldor too. Random battles are getting to be harder than the bosses though.
Now I'm stuck on Garuda. Having the same problem as you. Haven't found those Raven's Yawn yet though.
@@paulhiggins6433 Garuda is going to be wall. I wish you the best of luck on Raven Yawn drops and on Garuda not spamming lightning.
where can I get so many antartic winds for the rat fight?
@@javierpg8386 outside the temple . Ride the boat and try to trigger encounters with Sahagins and any other monster in the water. They have a small chance of dropping Antarctic winds. But be careful not to trigger the fight against Nepto.
@@solitaryscargaming thank you very much
Thank you 🙏 im currently playing ff3 and named a character after my bf and he got to choose the job for his character He chose onion knight He looked so sad when i said i switched him to dragoon then dark knight 😢 Im in the crystal caves now and will take time to grind yellow dragon for the onion gear Cant wait to show him 🥺
This was so hard to watch you suffer through, internet stranger. I'm glad it paid off in the end, though! Great video.
Your editting is fine bro have a like.
The only challenge I see being tougher would be a SINGLE onion knight run. That probably IS impossible.
Should have named one Elixir Field!
Yuna Garnet Rosa and Aerith *cries in Porom* 😂
Why punish yourself even further?! I've never done any challenge runs myself, but I always love the ideas. I'm currently playing through all six pixel remaster games and I'm on FF5 PR right now.
"challenge runs" are what makes games to have longevity. Final Fantasy series are no strangers to "challenge" ad "self imposed" type runs, especially with FF3 and 5 which have job system as their core mechanic.
A few people have done min/max runs where they try to get 9999hp by keeping the monk job for much of the game, and they noticed you have to really plan carefully because of stats are gained at level up. So they maximize the job level first by defending and running a lot. When they hit Monk 99 they start leveling their characters. And yes all those people noticed the onion knight has garbage stats the whole game.
Men, you are just a self harm master, but I love your challenges
C
I always thought it was kinda disappointing that cloud of darkness was just like a numbers game, no strategy just brute force out damaging and outhealing
Before watching: YES. But it sucks before it git gud.
Vefore watching it all, can a monk get past garuda? Yep. No.
Yep
@@solitaryscargamingOh, I saw it now. The timate cheat code, GRINDING until the math transcends the devs' evil purposes.
I thought the base Job was called freelancer
In the Final Fantasy III 3D Remake the base job is the freelancer.
Any fan of _Final Fantasy III_ earns a sub from me.
Thank you!
Aaa this guy.... he even like heavy onion on his pizza!!😊🍕👏🏼🎶👏🏼
10:50 final fantasy tactics is prone to that. I have a low level vid with cup of life and math skilled toad lol. But seriously general rules: no mana shield, auto potion (lifefont is good enough), teleport, arcane strength (buffs speechcraft that can reliably make minions join or bosses sleep/not have a turn, geomancy and iaido) holy, flare, tailwind speed abuse, orlandeau, blood sword equip swords ninja, graviga/invigoration (graviga 2 shots all bosses and invigoration life drains in 4 shots, and can be a war of attrition with defense boost). Some do single class but that's too much effort let alone chapter 1 is easy to cheese giving everyone black magic to own enemies with less speed to dodge and less hp so fire spam can be lethal. I'd also say to ban rend speed as the game is a joke if you dual wield or have some concentration brawler monk doing that (and ch 2 steel maxes bravery better than orator's praise for monk/reaction attacks).
Beautiful run lol And let’s be real: Aerith is a red mage. She has a peculiar style, uses black and white magic at equal proficiencies, and has a red color scheme.
I think you should be allowed to change to the advanced version of the class in these runs so you can use advanced spells and weapons. Shaman, Magus, Black Belt, Knight, Etc.
I haven't played this game in a long time and thought there was something about the onion knight. Came across this video in a search and now I'm reminded. There was a small miss on the opening statements. The first final fantasy had a job system. You chose your jobs and you were locked into those jobs the whole game. This was the first to allow you to change jobs during the game since ff2 didn't have a job system.
I can honestly say ive never used onion knight, it comes so late in the game.
I like Final Fantasy V because it took the job system and made it much more customizable and interactive. Not just switching jobs, but combining them.
Got to be a special kind of hell for the final boss, just being continually ground down as the enemy heals up after every attack and realizing "Damn, I have NOTHING I can throw at these people" after a few minutes. But still having to keep fighting because they can't retreat.
Would love to see some challanges on the 3D Version since it's harder :)
I beat the NES version back in the 90's, but Cloud of Darkness on the PSP? I lost three times against her and got sick of having to traverse Xande's Tower & Dark World back to back.
Wait there's no detective guy?
my fave final fantasy is 5 its just very replayable and deep in its mechanics n shit. final fantasy 4 is a close second that game is so cozy for me
At Hein: yeah, besides their weak magic (even with items), the other big issue with the Monks is lousy magic defense. Prorings definately help, al-though the game only gives you 3 so you have to farm one from a Behamoth king, or do without. Good news is that if the enemy doesn't pick magic often you can pretty easily nuke anything (including the cloud of darkness) from Orbit with these guy's absurd attack stats (just make sure you leave them unarmed or else they do bad damage)
At Garuda, yeah, he's really rough for these guys because of his Lightning spam.
At Hecatoncair: yeah, the baccus wine is a great strat (and one I forgot about during my PR onion run), during my playthrough on translated Nes I saved all of those for the end since they are un-buyable and rarely dropped (save for certain glitches.) Though PR greatly increases the drop rate so they'll definatley make the world of darkness and cloud of darkness much easier if you end up farming them.
At goldor in video. Didn't know he resisted magic, interesting. Also, in my analysis on the last video I made an error: white MAGES don't learn Holy/White, only White Wizzards and Sages. Good news is I forgot about Aeroaga, so maybe that'll fill in the gap (spell items probably will as well, but definately access to a few charges of Holy/White would have probably been real nice in the dark world -- we'll see when I get there). Also, good news for Goldor is that (at least in FFV), Staffs are considered the same kind of weapon as Axes so they go through physical defense (not that that is much of a consolation as they are REALLY weak)
Staffs as items are definately interesting, I didn't realize they cast spells in this version (probably because I played 3DS version which, like the NES version, didn't have staffs that cast spells) and I assumed it was true here too -- it's not, so good find. This might also help end game.
At end: good game! Looks like I was partially wrong about the Cloud of Darkness and Dark World as it looks like they weren't significantly harder, just slower with this party, so well played!
at start: I've done it on PR, so I know it's possible, I will say though, going into the video that I expect MASSIVE pain between Water crystal and onion equipment (I got through by farming magic casting items starting just after Kracken then REALLY needed them to get through Doga, Uni, and Eureka). But once you get Onion equipment you can pretty easily destroy the game. Let's see if you end up in your high 70s at the end, like I was, or if you come up with some novel ways to solve this problem.
And, yeah, you might need to change items at the Gnome cave if you don't get mallots before Anchient's villiage in PR (I don't recall if I had to or not, but once you have them Mallots can transform you small as well as make you big), as well as to get into underwater cave in Fire Cave section and the Tower of Owens (technically one of the monsters in tower of Owens is supposed to cast Toad sometimes, but I had NO luck getting him to do so, so I eventually bit the bullet and just changed jobs to cast Toad)
Actually your job stats do go up, one point every 10 levels -- but yeah, effectively they don't go up ☹ (until level 90, then your stats go crazy and you have the best stats of anyone -- though if you are playing right you should have onion equipment before then so it will be a mute point) EDIT: ok you mentioned it, I was just a little fast 🥶
at rat: yeah, I luckily avoided that issue (using my sell items too early) in my PR run because I'd ALREADY made that mistake on earlier attempts in 3DS version and when using an translated rom dump. I found you have to keep all your spell items as well as get at least one as a drop from either Djinn or the Griffon (I beleive the turtle also drops, but I've never tried)
just before attempt two against the rat: WELL PLAYED! I didn't think to farm from the sea monsters, so very well played. That means in exchange for some over grinding you could potentially stock pile a few for the Rat as well as other dungeons (I farmed spell items from the Griffon's outside Anchient's villiage since they seem to drop all the good ones at the highest rate I could find.)
at Dwarf villiage (I'll try to slow down on the comments, but it's hard since this was a very interesting run for me, and you've done a good job of boiling down the hours of pain in this run to a pretty good condenced form). Yeah, last weapon's the Onion Knights can equip (other then the King's sword and one of the knives in the same dungeon) is the Mithril swords until the onion Sword. For sheilds, the Ice Shields are their final ones until the Crystal Shields (which they CAN equip, luckily), greaves, helmets and armor are capped at Mithril until Crystal (luckily) and eventually Onion. So yeah, their equipment choices are pretty bad...
Favorite is FF1, but mainly because it is the only one I've played. I didn't finish though. Got stuck at some graveyard where the ghosts kept paralyzing me and it was the version where you have to go back to town to replenish mp iirc.
Video was honestly great and comprehensive. You did me a solid because I'm never going to go through the agony that is this run.
25:57 My favourite is FF8 : )
I feel like your voice kind of rambled/trailed off at times, so using a script (or sticking closer to one, if you were already using one) would probably help, since it just sounded like you were bored for most of the video. I do appreciate the spirit of the run, though. I've always had a soft spot for FF3, despite how janky it is.
I actually appreciate that he's not using some transparently fake high energy vibe that other youtubers would. It feels like an old internet style video and I identify with the realness of that. Anyways, I'm sure if he keeps making stuff that he'll find his own voice, and this is pretty good for a first video.
What a legend, man; steel resolution 😂 - nice ending. My FF list is: ff6,ff3,ff7 and ff15 for my favorites (:
i usually watch youtube or maybe something like british baking show while grinding
my favorite final fantasy games are 6, 7 and 9(only played ff1-10 and didnt care for 8 or 10 much)
great video, ur voice is really relaxing
This is a pretty solid video, especially for the first one you're editing. You deserve to be proud of it.
I recently tried this on the pixal remaster and uhhhh i quickly gave up on it lol. Im patient, but apparently not enough to do Onion knight only.
My fave is FF6, it's my fave cause for me it had the best most moving story. My fave character is Celes from FF6. And I am enjoying your play of this i also liked ff3
3:20 "we come face to face with Muhammad" 😂
FF3 is my favorite one so far but the fights that require a certain job really weigh down the game and the job system overall
that was a fun watch! thanks for making this video -- it's a ton of work to put a good production together.
