    The voice control of the P7 is understated. It is heads and shoulders above their competitors, so much so, almost all their customers use it on a daily basis. They also have 3,000kWh of free charging per year

    I don't know how you can determine how good an interface is without spending extensive time using it. The XPeng P7 looks fantastic. It looks something like a Tesla S, not sure if that was intentional. I think this and Nio ET7 are serious competitors with everyone, including Tesla.

    Reliable fast charging is important when on long trips, the last thing you want is slow charging and faulty chargers.
    For daily commute it doesn't really matter.

      @4literv6 2 роки тому

      Plus those using evs without easy access to lvl2 charging in apts condos and homes they rent where the landlords won't allow or help with a charger installation. Really need quick, easy to access reliable fast chargers more than the occasional road trippers. 🤔

  • @pwells2389
    @pwells2389 2 роки тому +6

    Really well balanced, objective and thorough review. I thought the P7 was going to blow the Tesla away seeing as they have been designing and developing in the knowledge of Tesla's capabilities. Or at the very least, seriously undercut the Tesla... So I was encouraged to hear that wasn't the case and in fact the overall ownership experience is likely quite a bit better with the Tesla than the Xpeng. I'm not sure what the general charging infrastructure in like in China but I imagine Tesla provide a better experience.

    Please STOP with the time from 30% to 80% charging. Just tell us the amount of time it takes to charge up a mile or a 100 miles so that it's consistent between vehicles!!! There's no need to confuse the audience

    • @4literv6
      @4literv6 2 роки тому

      Thank you, I really wish they would just say miles per minute of charging. Or like some say recover 50 miles in 5 mins or 100 miles in 10mins.
      Would make more sense for those not completely into charging speeds, curves etc. 👍🏻
      I also think they need to severely modify the charging curves from 0-80%. If that's the range they want most batteries charged to?
      Then they should definitely optimize that so it's as fast as possible once the car is connected up to a dcfc.

    • @bluetoad2668
      @bluetoad2668 2 роки тому +2

      I have an old 2018 model S. That already has 'fast enough' charging for most occasions. Charge time is becoming one of those headline specs which actually doesn't move the needle much on your decision unless you've never owned an EV before. Tesla superchargers however are one of the things that, once you've owned and EV, you realise you cannot do without if you want to do road trips.

    • @johnpoldo8817
      @johnpoldo8817 2 роки тому +1

      Absolutely correct! Let us know how long it takes to restore 100, 200, 300, or 400 miles to the battery (model s & Lucid). Batteries come in too many sizes so percentage makes no sense. Miles of available driving is paramount.

    • @johnpoldo8817
      @johnpoldo8817 2 роки тому

      EVs only have 2.5% market share so growth will come from new adopters. Most of these people want very quick road trip charge time of 5-10 mins. As a Tesla owner, I’m fine with 15 min, but know many ice vehicle drivers won’t buy an EV until it’s faster.

    • @4literv6
      @4literv6 2 роки тому +1

      @@johnpoldo8817 the same driver's who can charge every day at home? And only road trip a couple time's per year. 🤔
      Or the mythical I drive 200+miles every day no stopping for breaks type?
      Genuinely curious about your real world experiences as over half the drivers in the us reside in homes that all have electrical outlets.
      And the average commute or daily vehicle mileage is well under 40 miles in the U.S. now.

    561l for M3 must be an error. Standard tests say something around 430 l for the trunk. The MY instead has I think 580 l app. But that is an SUV. also 675km for M3 pefromance is wayyyyyy wrong. M3LR has a max of 614km and Performance on the European website states 567 so I guess you accidentally turned some numbers here :)

    The most important thing is how much they make on these cars, it's all about margin and manufacturing effeciency. Xpeng have made 40k cars, what is their gross margin? Based just on the cars themselves plus the infrastructure and cars in the field Tesla has its no contest - a rational person would buy Tesla.

    • @chrisnewman7281

      They’re selling well in China

    • @Enoch-Root
      @Enoch-Root 2 роки тому +2

      You mean buy stock or an actual car? Buying a car based on your typical rational process of evaluating tech, speed, safety etc actually often ends up leading to disappointment. One of the main factors for whether or not someone is happy with a new car simply comes down to whether or not they like the car. I live in China and am looking at getting the Xpeng P7 because I think it's just much better looking than the model 3, and that's despite knowing it has slower 0-60 and top speed doesn't come close to the model 3 either. If you're saying that a rational person would buy a Tesla because they've sold more that is just like saying a rational personal will buy what everyone else is buying. Granted the Tesla is popular for good reason, but buying it because it's popular is a shortcut in evaluating a car.

    • @Amidat

    I would like Elon take on the molten salts reactors and build a module factory to build them. I think in the long term nuclear is the future not solar or wind. You only have to look at what’s happing with what happens to waste solar panels they don’t get recycled the same happens with wind turbines. Plus the making of solar cells is a dirty business with numerous numbers of mines needed and processing needed high energy and waste to make them.
    Nuclear is by far the best solution if look at the hole environmental process to build and run nuclear. it is best by far the most environmental friendly way to go forward in the long term solution and is not weather dependent. I do not like to think of a future of wind turbines all over the skyline and fields full of solar panels. What’s your thoughts on this.

    • @Moses_VII
      @Moses_VII 2 роки тому

      I am not sure. I see solar, mainly desert-based concentrated solar power rather than PV panels, as well as wind energy offshore and in deserts to be the main energy resources.
      I see countries like Morocco and Australia exporting their electricity by cables to nearby countries and as hydrogen to be used by the grid in far away countries.

    • @ericdauster
      @ericdauster 2 роки тому +2
