G6 is much better, i drove both cars
nice alternative to the Model Y. They really intended the suspension to be softer considering the car elevation and thicker tires vs the Y. The rear slope looks heavy and bulky for more headroom and likely more cargo.
Their battery pack design is an inch lower than most EV like Tesla. A good 2in/3cm lower than NIO’s battery swap base. Very comfy leg space. This has more interior room than some large SUVs.
Maybe it's a nice vehicle, but this thing is hideous, ouch!
Has it got camp and or dog mode?
We want this in Australia! Currently only MG and BYD is selling reasonable price on electric cars..
这个比比亚迪的车要贵一些
@@yigangwang7813but the byd in Australian market is its low end model Atto3, the specs of which is not in the same tier of G6, especially the cruising range.

the interior of xpeng is much better than model y
Like where? They use mostly plastic. Tesla Model Y not only has less plastic but also has more storage than G6. The desgin is much cleaner than G6 and looks more premium.
@@m.a3914the design is outdated. It’s literally the same as my M3 2018.
@@mrt8096 It has some similarities and definitely the same design language but there are also major changes to the 2018 model.
Love Xpeng, hope it will come to NZ market one day
tezla, scammers, give me back my money for not delivering the vehicle to me and for scamming me out of the costs of accessories for this scrap metal, I will advertise for you until I get my money back and by the way, this happened in February 2022
XPENG went up nearly 25% today due to VWs announcement...
Nio should help fellow Chinese autos BYD and Xpeng with exterior designs
True, nio's design is world class
I think NIO definitely has the best interiors of any Chinese car, especially since the debut of the ES6.
In China Byd‘s design means terrible design
agree
@chiao2408 Including its logo and the slogan behind the car
Y: 10 TFLOPs processing power.
G6: 508 TFLOPS.
Y: 340 V platform
G6: 800 V
Y: 20 sensors
G6: 31
No more needed to be said
More does not equal better. You can have all the TFLOPs in the world, but with rubbish software it won't matter.
@@Jeroenneman Did you actually look into xnpg? Do a bit research b4 comment would be better
Pff no it is not 508 TFLOPS. What are you talking about?? If that was the case it should have the equal power of 6 RTX 4090 inside. If we talk about the computer running the system it has Snapdragon 8155. It is equivalent to the SD855 in mobile phones. This is late 2018 chip. The GPU is Adreno 640 which has less than 1 TFLOPS.
@@KayAnderson888 A lot more needs to be said. What this guy is saying is a joke. It is not 508 TFLOPS of performance. This is ridiculous! The RTX 4090 has 82 TFLOPS of performance. It runs on snapdragon 8155 which has Adreno 640 GPU. That GPU is from late 2018. It has less than 1 TFLOPS of performance.

Nice Car! Tesla is not so good! Tesla looks like Frog
What’s G6 look like then? If they copied MY?
@@haroldmichael3492well they didn't 😂
The range and efficiency on this will be insane. They haven’t announced official numbers. Some reviewers are noticing 13kwh/100km in mixed use, sports version not long range, ADAS and heavy cooling on. The long range will probably beat Model 3 LR efficiency. And 150km more range than Y of same battery size. 800V SiC tech.
Tesla is an industry leader when it comes to efficiency. It would be nice to see how well Xpeng can compete. Definitely a big bite. Tesla is also not doing so well with 4680 batteries. Clearly there are some issues there.
@@m.a3914 this model is now out and selling a few thousand per week. The efficiency is insane. It can edge out M3 in efficiency, and it’s a mid-size SUV. People trying to stress test it need three shifts, because it lasts forever. You need to drive it like 15-17 hours straight to run out a full battery.
@@enigmatum Yeah G6 is selling pretty well for Xpeng's standards but really have nothing on Model Y as of now.
As for efficiency I have no idea how efficient it is. Could be more efficient than Model Y. After all the car set the record for the most efficient EV SUV when it launched. They had enough time to improve on it. Now is Tesla's turn.
@@m.a3914 the LR one runs 12-13kWh/100km in summer heat. It was quite popular among social media streamers after launch, since the efficiency blew away everyone’s expectations. SiC 800V electrical system is the difference. Some EVs have 800V charging. Only G6/G9 runs the higher voltage throughout the car and uses more robust SiC chips to withstand the higher V.
@@enigmatum That sounds very impressive
this car design like splitting two old cars and welding front and back to come up with a new G6
to shame the Americans don’t get to experience Chinese EVS who would’ve thought that’s in the home of the brave and free market things could be so unfree
bring down to australia..guranteed you most of the people like who are waiting for RAV4 will turn to G6 right away! You will see more than 50 thousands order before end of 2023 here!
You can't represent most people, maybe a thousand orders can't be reached.
@@JasonZhang666 Thousand my ass... what would you know about Australian drivers. We love SUV more and Aussie locals love off-road trips. You Chinese spent too much time at work and home resting and hardly go out on road trips. And for your information, Aussie has over 5 millions SUV drivers in Australia since 2022.
Looking like a young Tom Selleck there...
How can they make such a beautiful car as the G9, and then make this afterwards? It gives me Prius vibes, which is a very bad thing imo :D
G6 have 800V SiC....far better
5:10 The G6 is priced much lower than the P7, as can tell by the numbering as well. So it’s perfectly normal for it to use cheaper materials.
So.. The Chinese is STILL copying western automakers 😅
Very astute remark about the G6. One KWH less and one torque less than the Y. Coincidence - no - It can do .2sec less to 100km/hr (apologies if I’m paraphrasing) - to me that says the Chinese designers were told to make a car that on paper is slightly better - hence KWH and torque figures are just one more. Or else the real figures are roughly same or less so the marketing people state one more to make it look good for those who only look at the numbers. The lower acceleration time - always varies according to real world conditions and tyres - well - clearly they made a very good clone of the Y but didn’t make it quite as good! The G6 looks pretty good; but it’s a Chinese copy of a Y. It just is.
this EGG is on the way to win!
awesome car and video!!
It seems like they do have talented designers and manufacturing capability, but the design language still needs some iterations. The exterior design although smooth, and proportionally "Ok", the front facia looks goofy.
Wish it was in the US. Love the rear cup holders. Would have like a one piece front screen like Mercedes. It should be more aerodynamic than it is. Those lower bumper lights look unnecessary and create drag
xpeng is trouncing Japanese cars in China, and soon in export markets.
I'm still a sucker for the Avatr 11

that's the best car ever made...period...change my mind!!!
how bout im ls7 ls6 just came out to compete with g6@@CabaloVolador_3172
another cool car. the comparison thing is pretty funny
One of the few things I don't like about the Tesla is the extremely boring "minimalistic" design. This X-Peng somewhat solves that problem.
One thing you are not disclosing, there is ZERO originality, copies are fakes, there is ZERO chance the TECHNICAL details of the materials and engineering. These Chinese cars would NEVER pass FMVSS and successful crash testing. YOU are a joke for not disclosing this.
Proudly WUHAN 😅😢😅

Great video! Thanks Wheelsboy 👍
Apparently the Taycan 800v system only charges at 50kwh at the 400v Tesla SC system. Will this be the same issue with the G6?
Why does the wireless chargepad have holes in them? fluids and dirt will eventually fall into it

I will definitely consider getting this G6 over the Model Y if ever it reaches the US.
I concur. If it gets real world ~350mi or more and the navigation is similar, I would strongly consider this over my model Y. I hate the fact that Tesla lies so much about their range. The long range model Y doesn't even get 270mi on a full batt in the real world.
They did what I would do as an auto manufacturer- just copy Tesla and add some differences.
Excellent comparison Ethan. What happened to your hand??
is there a big difference in comfort and quietness between the G9 and G6? Of course, the G6 is cheaper with a little less expensive material, but how big do you feel the difference is between the two models in terms of quality, comfort and efficiency? we have only G9 in Sweden but I'm waiting for a smaller car if it doesn't get that much "worse" than G9 which gets a lot of praise in Scandinavia.
Hoping for a response even though it's been some time since your video was published
The G6 isnt near the amount of luxury you get in the G9, but its good quality still.
i am in China now. g9 is excellent,g6 is cheaper but meets all my demands.

Igniting the roads with a luminescent light.
I wish Ethan would hop on a plane & fly to Vietnam to test some Vinfast models for us ... or will they sell in China eventually ? I saw first batch of 99 U.S. spec vehicles in route to California & some presentation ones for The Netherlands and Germany. NA & EU first on export , understandably since China is inundated w/ Chinese EV brands itself.
I was in Vietnam this year, but never had time to drive a Vinfast. I was very disappointed! I don't see them entering the Chinese market anytime soon, because as you indicated, there is just too much competition here. In that respect, it's easier for them to enter markets with fewer EV options, like the US and EU.
@@Wheelsboy Vinfast recently allowed for multiple US media outlets to test and review their VF8, and those reviews were not good to say the least. The VF8 is heavy, has mediocre build quality, half baked software, and just horrendous efficiency. Like it has a 90 kWh battery pack, but cannot even go 200 miles on a full charge. Currently Vinfast is not competitive in any market, let alone the cut throat Chinese EV market.
He has been to Vietnam before
@@tren133 The EPA tested VF8 was tested on the performance mode and never on ECO , as customers report eco range to be 265 mls average w/ 88 kWh pack. Perhaps the tester were Vietnam veterans still holding a grudge ..? EV lobbyists are pushing a re-testing of the VF8 in eco mode as we speak.
@@ideallogic I don't think the western journalists even bothered to do serious range testing at all actually. I've wasted many a hour watching Tom Peng's channel. He is a Canadian business man who lives in Vietnam and has purchased every Vinfast EV ever released and range tested them all. And he is living in tropical Vietnam stuck in HCMC traffic, which means 80 degree temps and 30-40 kph average speeds. You can't get better conditions than that in terms of EV range, and without fail he gets HORRIBLE range results in every single car he's tested.
For instance the best result he could wring out of his VF8, in eco mode, at 60 kph, at night in nice mild weather, was 340 km, and his VF8 had 88 kWh of usable battery capacity. His VF9 with 92 kWh battery capacity only managed 250 km of range on a full charge. And his VF5, which is a tiny light car, with a 37 kWh usable capacity, could only get 190 km. Which is crazy bad, because the big battery BYD Seagull with a 40 kWh pack will almost certainly do 400 km if driven in those same conditions.
Vinfast is woefully behind on the tech side of EVs right now. All of their cars, big or small, have extremely poor efficiency.
And that's not even considering their software issues, suspension damping issues (multiple western media reporters independently reporting motion sickness from riding in the VF8), build quality issues, as well as random bricking issues and occasional extreme phantom battery drain issues. Peng's VF9 only had 200 km on the odo, and the rear air suspension was already collapsed!
For some reason I really like it
Remember guys that xpeng is using the CLTC standard to measure range. This up to 25% less accurate than WLTP and 40% less than EPA range. They may still have higher, but No the car will never drive 780km real kilometers in one charge, then you have to go 50km/h and have good weather conditions. But so can the Model Y.. Also Xpeng G6 has 10kwh bigger battery which means more range but its also heavier so take the range with a little bit of salt
The xpeng ceo said 13.2kmh/100km, fyi
@@oliveryb If you mean kWh/100km, yes that is very low, but again that is CLTC numbers which are kind numbers compared to WLTP. But even if the car does 15kWh/100km that is still very good consumption numbers. Time will tell how it handles up hills, winter time on low temperatures, driving in rain and wind.
@@TheEdmaster87 thx for your correction, you are right, for me WLTP=0.85*NEDC=0.8*CLTC
It makes sense. Cltc is definitely less of a reference value. However, the G6 weighs only 2,000kg, despite its 87.5kwh battery. This is the same level of weight as Model y.
Xpeng will be lucky to survive in the Chinese market

Interesting car, does it have a bottom trunk and a frunk ? What’s the real world range ?. Prices need to be far less thatTesla to gain any traction in Europe as XPeng isn’t a brand we know….or trust
No to the frunk, yes to a space under the rear cargo area. That space isn't as large as the one in the Model Y, if I recall correctly. Official range hasn't been announced, only that the CLTC range will be around 750 km on the longest range model.
