This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "easiest judo throw" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Keyandon Judo Process - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my cousin got excellent success with it.
I am a green belt, but have not trained Judo for more then twenty years... Now I have decided to start again to take my black belt. Your videos are great help. I will get in touch when the belt is on my body.
Thank you Sensei... A complete and easy to follow step by step ...I'm choosing 6 throws for my BJJ examination and uchi mata is definitely on the list.. thank you again ...
thanks I was looking for an alternate grip. That whizzer grip I've seen before wasn't what I wanted but the lapel grip was what I was looking for. Thank you.
Have been doing Judo for years. Must admit this is one of the best explanations of uchimata I've ever seen. Definitely going to implement some of these drills. Thanks dude
Love your tutorials, mate. Short and to the point, yet very descriptive and detailed. Lots of material to work with. These videos are really helpful for me, being an novice grappler who has fallen in love with Judo, but finding it very difficult to execute. Hopefully I will improve with time. I really want to start implementing it into my takedown game.
I hope to share this with my instructors to practice this. I really like learning set ups. It's not all about knowing the moves as much being able to actually execute them
+Archie Samuels can't agree more guys without proper kuzushi always kicking up their legs into groin before breaking balance and placing my body on theirs. Hated that so much...
You clearly have experience and technique, so I will spend a word for you: the only example I actually appreciated is at 2:40...the timing between right leg and the left hand is good, yet the hand is way to high (it's called hikite for a reason: it pulls, it does not lift). My master taught me this combination many years ago, but the strength of the athletes nowadays tends to reward forward-forward combinations, backward-forward combinations usually expose to strong counters.
I am unfortunately unable to train Judo very often, usually only once a week and because of this i've been doing solo drills of these throws at my house. What throws would you recomend a white belt begginer drills, and how many times should I drill each throw? Also, it would be great if you could do a solo drill video, but I understand if you can't. Please reply and thank you for helping me get into Judo. You're truly inspirational.
Sir your detailed explanations of each throw is very awesome. I feel like if you incorporate some "slow motion" throws on the last throw before transitioning to another throw or setup would be most useful. Oss!
bob johnson You can do underhooks, you can latch onto your opponents head, you can insert your elbow between your opponents elbow when you both have a grab on eachother's head, you can use overhooks, I personally prefer underhooks, it starts to become Greco-Roman Wrestling, and even in No-Gi Judo, Suplexes and Body Drops become popular, and it's allowed since you're not actually touching the legs. In gi, Suplexes and Body Drops are still usable, but then your opponent can Uchi Mata or Shoulder throw you.
bob johnson I use Suplexes and Body Drops all the time in Gi and No Gi, cus I am addicted to underhooking standing up and on the ground, so I normally take the back. If my opponent is larger than I am, a Body Drop from behind the knees works best. Becareful tho, you can knock the wind out of people who weigh alot less than you.
Will you do a breakdown of uchi mata defense? I've been having a heck of a time against taller players who throw great 'lifting hip' throws (uchi mata, harai (sp?), hani). The height difference is about the same as you v. your uke. If you would, thank you so much.
Do shadow uchikomi like "BeyondGrappling" does here in "Judo home training part 2" or you can do wall training with or without resistance like "senseishin" does in "Innertube Uchikomi". Just remember to focus on proper execution of technique building speed on once you've gotten the technique right. As part of our road work my coach used to make us do sets of shadow uchikomi during the circuit training after the run. When I'm on vacation I'd usually do 5 sets of 10 repetitions, like in training.
The uchimata at 3:00 is almost an ura nage. For me, at least, I think it should be done kind of like an utsuri goshi where you shift your hips in front before you throw your leg up to land him on his back.
Judo is totally underutilized in American wrestling. I was lucky enough to do both in college; I learned Judo under an Olympian. I teach all my wrestlers Judo moves now. They compliment each other perfectly. Each one has moves that kill in the other discipline. Obviously the setups are a little different in wreslting, but the Judo moves still work really well. All wrestlers and coaches should try out Judo.
it's really helpull for me,and for everybody, i´ve been watching your videos and I´m putig them into practice when i´m training. and now I´m gettig ready for a tournamen. thanks for your videos again they have been really helpfull for me, and sorry my englesh is not pretty good.
Thank you for all the different setups. You are doing a great job, I'm learning a lot with your videos.
no problem my friend :)

I love it that you always go back to basics. Setting up the throw and then breaking the balance.
+paul yang basics are what make people good
Great instruction, as always. Many thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I am a green belt, but have not trained Judo for more then twenty years... Now I have decided to start again to take my black belt. Your videos are great help. I will get in touch when the belt is on my body.

Beautiful work. Judo is so fun and endless, I watch these videos and comtemplate is all day long, as I'm sure most players do. Your vids are great.
thanks, i watch you from Paris, I think your videos are the best ones on judo. Please continue !
Thanks, really ways of looking at setting an uchi mata. I think set ups are the most overlooked part regular dojo training.
1:26 "if I go for uchi maataa, it's gonna be a lil haadaa" - love your videos man.
Ive been doing judo for a few years now,and have been involved in competitions, thought it was well explained and helpful.
The technique combined with strategy is wonderful. Non judoka like myself understand the mechanics when he explains it.
Thank you.
No problems :) glad it helped
great video, uchimata is one of my favourite throws and learning different entry scenarios is really useful. Thank you.
Have been doing Judo for years. Must admit this is one of the best explanations of uchimata I've ever seen. Definitely going to implement some of these drills. Thanks dude

Learning uchimata as a kid resulted in way too many nut shots
+Archie Samuels can't agree more guys without proper kuzushi always kicking up their legs into groin before breaking balance and placing my body on theirs. Hated that so much...

Hello Matt, where can I buy one of your tshirts or polos? Thanks & greetings from Oklahoma City, USA.

Nice. How about Seoi nage set-ups?

Good Sensei. thank you!
Really nice job!!
great video!
Uchimata is technique in 5 folds, was fun been green belt in Kyushu.
Uke is practicing his breakfalls nicely.
The uchimata at 3:00 is almost an ura nage. For me, at least, I think it should be done kind of like an utsuri goshi where you shift your hips in front before you throw your leg up to land him on his back.
But of course whatever works for you, works for you.
Was that arm around the neck variation the Mongolian version of the Uchi mata?
