i bought some flowers and approached a girl in class i liked. so as i started reciting a poem about the love i feel for her she did not realize my right heel snaking behind her leg and easy peasy osoto gari.
i woke up in the morning, brush my teeth, had a shower and went into the kitchen saw my younger brother eating the last tiny amount of my fav cereal and finishing it off got pissed off when out to the super store bought some more cereal came home brother asked if he can have some i said yes and gave him a bowl of Osoto Gari
Brilliant, this is exactly the sort of video the sport needs; not of the throws per se, but material on actually getting to them. Throws are easy, getting your opponent to them is hard. Will be passing this around my club. Do you mind doing a mini-series along similar lines?
Hey love this video, I just started judo like a month ago and landed my first throw on someone last practice. I was looking to learn better set up to it because I not really good at disguising it. The move is...and Osoto gari
Awesome! I like your speed to go through all the different setups. Will suggest this as a new part of training in our club. My favorite setup is the one on 2:21, totally unexpected!
Great tutorials, thanks, please can you do a tutorial on entries into tia-otoshi? Fighting for first dan at the moment. Thanks for all your help from the uk👍
Those are lovely, I am definitely going to try a couple in the next judo class as Osotos are my favourite throws! I really like your videos Matt, keep up with the good stuff!
Hi, i really like your setups Can u do seoi nage, sumi.gaeshi, ura nage, uchi mata and other common throws? And, can u do morote gari, uchiki taoshi for people who is into mma?
in every osoto I see in high level competition, the non-reaping leg is set back (driving forwards) at least until the opponent has already begun to fall, while in these demos I primarily see the non-reaping leg step past the opponent before the reap is set in. If this footwork doesn't show up in high level competition, is it really competition effective? Sorry if my question is dumb, my background includes only a little judo.
You are right. They do a negative step. I tried to see if that was correct and I have to say, I have the same observation as you most of the time. I think their Osoto Gari works similar to an Kouchi Makikomi. Seems to be an effective throw once they lock in the leg.
Osoto gari is one of the most frustrating things I did at japanese ju jitsu. I have a terrible balance. Many times I put myself in "danger" instead of the training partner.
You forgot these variations- Osatagari - while eating, waiting in line, and playing chess. Just kidding - love how he can extrapolate so many applications for one technique.
Glenn Hino: I laugh when Karateka insist that Karate also practices throws. There’s 18 judo variations here on one throw ! My 4 th Dan Japanese Judo instructors used to throw us shodans like so many pillows . And I used to throw/ sweep my opponents easily.
Throws his partner around like rag doll but didnt even give poor guy credit, rushed though both guy's name and website, couldn't even understand it, no print. Oh, well, as long as he got paid i guess. He's not going to complain, he's not privileged..

Guess she must have fallen head over heels for you then!
hahahahah

Woke-up. Kissed my gal, aaaand osoto gari.
I drive my car and then Osoto Gari
All roads lead to Osotogari.
LOL
My favourite is the last combo; Like, Comment, Share into Osoto Gari.

Thank you for this one! That Russian grip looks brutal

Sorry if my question is dumb, my background includes only a little judo.
I guess it's about the explosive pushing power one is able to generate

Guy bumps into be at work and Osoto Gari!
For sure lol
Osoto gari is one of the most frustrating things I did at japanese ju jitsu.
I have a terrible balance. Many times I put myself in "danger" instead of the training partner.
That doesn’t sound fun at all :(
It ain't.
Onother one is Kosotogari
and osoto gari LOL
Another one I have is he goes to unlock his car door after training and bang, Osoto gari.
Lol
I like "and Osotogari".
Woooooowww
and Osoto gari :-)
You forgot these variations-
Osatagari - while eating, waiting in line, and playing chess. Just kidding - love how he can extrapolate so many applications for one technique.
Hahahhaha
The fakes are very deceptive and good for setting up the real move.
Great techniques but could please first do them slowly like in this video then show us a quick execution ?
I o soto gari and then o soto gari
So good
Osoto gari
