I haven't seen a whole ad video like this before but one of the things I love about your videos over some other van life videos is that you are very knowledgeable and explain things very clearly. Even though it's an ad, you are super informative about products and where you can get them. And if I recall Trent used to work for Backcountry so it's awesome that they are sponsoring you guys, and clearly Trent was a good employee!

I love everything about this video. I loved the tone of the narration and the pacing kept it so interesting throughout. It broke my heart to see your comment saying you wouldn't do more of these because this was beautiful. I would love to see this style of video done on so many different outdoor brands, especially the ones that are passionate about what they create. I don't know why it matters that it's sponsored or an ad for some people. If you're passionate about something and getting paid to represent it, that is amazing! I am not put off by the video ad. Sponsor identification, brand recognition, etc., are parts of the commercialized outdoor lifestyle landscape. At least T&A present their pitch in an 'organic' way, very much in keeping with their natural style. The emotional / inspirational music at the end was a nice touch.

I found you guys by searching how to build a home inside a van, because I’m always interested in building things, having a cozy home inside of a van sounds like a good idea. I was here only to see the build, it does impressed me, but when I go through your channel I found myself hooked on your lifestyle! I’ve never heard of Backcountry. And I will admit, I felt a range of reactions watching this vlog. I almost skipped it. But, like the rain is following Trent around trying to get him to embrace it; I decided to watch to the end as I am never disappointed by the photography and editing skills; - and I just might learn something. I am sure you struggled with the decision to do this, and knew you’d get negative feedback. However, take the positive feedback too. You guys have been living this life, and now I know how! And I know I can seek Backcountry out as a resource for myself as a solo traveler as I want to add kayaking as a more active fixture in my life. Plus, I need a new yoga mat. If I was a vlogger and the sponsor was already vetted by me as a great resource- why not?! You are living this life for you - not us. We just get to come along for the ride. Keep going for it and keep letting us know who & what helps you pursue it. It’s no different than telling us what solar gear you installed, or brand van you converted, etc.

Well you hit on all my favorite brands! Arcteryx, Northface and smart wool have been my winter wear for a long time and now is worn to get out and watch you young people perform! You could do a good deed and venture west to SoCal with your companion rain cloud! We need it and while here try out Sawtooth Canyon in Lucerne Valley for rock climbing. They come from all over to tackle it! Great photography!

... well now, this one must have taken plenty of time to assemble... BackcountryGear must be very stoked to see your well composed vid... a full 10 min advertisement with a genuine feel... you two may have just opened up something in the way of a new category in the advertising (and financial support) game ... the AdVlog ... one thing to just have a 'mention' and 30 sec commentary ... another altogether to have a full vlog devoted to a companies' products... opens possibilities for you and others as pioneers (for new avenues of revgen, and also for ad agencies). I say it must have taken plenty of time to assemble because of all the clips you pulled together from the archives - necessary, and it makes it real and watchable - as there is a fine line to shoot between watching an adventure vid vs. an ad, however it seems to me you have done an admirable job in marrying the two, especially considering the 10min length. While such a AdVlog should command thousands of $, the inconsistency of audio ambiance from starts/stops detracts a notch. Still, the continuity is good enuf imo... and thats just it - its all just mo. Congrats! ~ Steve

It's totally dry, here in Hungary we have traditionally very few rain, but this year is extreme...Hope you meet soon a dry zone in US...besides Quartzside and Ehrenburg there are certainly enough regions left ;-))))) In Novembre I start over to Greece with the van....snowbirding

Have still a nice house and ground here, but we wanna sell it because we are separated and in divorce; enough space for boondocking :-) Your van is like mine, a bit longer...the Dodge Rig is here the Fiat Ducato Rig, I have a van build by Hymer which I took over from Mom...this "Streetline Car" is really a wonder in space, I never would have believed it, but if you are active and mostly outside this rig is quite the best you can do for van dwelling....there is another nice van lifer channel by 2 Finns, very nice channel: ua-cam.com/channels/L7n1UgTK1ek9o6MMxl7FBQ.html; and be sure, I have only outdoor clothes, I am sort of country guy...hahahahahaha; time to upgrade my clothes, thanks for your video :-)

Sad to see all the negative comments on this video. Sponsored videos are becoming more and more common, and this is probably one of the best put together sponsored videos I have seen. Van lifers are inherently "outdoorsy" channels, and the watchers lend themselves to being outdoorsy as well, so having a sponsor like Backcountry seems to be right on point. From the looks of some of the comments, this video is doing exactly what it was intended and informing people about their services, who they are and what they provide. I would suspect those negative comments are coming from those that are happy heading down to Walmart or Target and picking up a Coleman tent and a few other odds and ends for a once a year camping trip... and for those, Backcountry is not the place for them, and that is ok.
I don't think Trent and Allie's viewership is just all campers. Maybe some like me have just liked the two of them and their adventures. I personally came to YT to get away from TV. If YT goes commercial like TV, too, I'll see what else pops up.
Just look at it like buying a fantastic steak, you still may need to trim a little fat from time to time. And as far as I am concerned, Backcountry is in my top 3 for places to pick up gear. I am in SLC as well, and having a warehouse here in town where I can see something online, chat in with a gearhead and see if it is in local stock and then go by the retail store and have a runner go grab it in multiple styles/sizes is a game changer as far ask I am concerned. I find myself researching something online, and then heading over to West Valley to try it on and pick it up from there. It is crazy what I have seen people in there trying out before they buy.
But Cary, like what Eliza said, and I agree with, is that some if not most of us are here for maybe a different reason and so we'd kindly like to skip the great detail of information on a subject that does not interest us at the time. Maybe some day it will but for now it does not. As a result we'd like to kindly move on to the other stuff T and A create because they are fun to watch. And, this is not a hate message. Just pointing out a preference in peace.

You could do a good deed and venture west to SoCal with your companion rain cloud! We need it and while here try out Sawtooth Canyon in Lucerne Valley for rock climbing. I love Backcountry too and If I made videos I would have no problem making an ad for them. To me they are just that good. You were upfront and honest about it being a sponsored video and I don't think anyone could ask more than honesty. Loved the vibe of the video. Keep up the great work.
That's how I felt as well! But some people don't like sponsored videos. Doesn't make a lot of sense if you ask me. The video was just like one we would have put out if they didn't pay for it. Oh well, you live and you learn

Great video beautiful scenes and great information about Backcountry … I’ve been very satisfied with the advice they gave me… Great customer service… if you’re not sure what size will fit you well you could order different sizes and return the one that doesn’t fit without any problem…I also like it because you could compare many different brands of a similar nature… like “men’s fleece jackets“… And compare what’s available from different manufacturers…Prices reasonable and they often have sales… Also if you’re looking for real bargains check out their discount department… “Steep and cheap“…And their phone app works very well…

... well now, this one must have taken plenty of time to assemble... BackcountryGear must be very stoked to see your well composed vid... a full 10 min advertisement with a genuine feel... you two may have just opened up something in the way of a new category in the advertising (and financial support) game ... the AdVlog ... one thing to just have a 'mention' and 30 sec commentary ... another altogether to have a full vlog devoted to a companies' products... opens possibilities for you and others as pioneers (for new avenues of revgen, and also for ad agencies).
I say it must have taken plenty of time to assemble because of all the clips you pulled together from the archives - necessary, and it makes it real and watchable - as there is a fine line to shoot between watching an adventure vid vs. an ad, however it seems to me you have done an admirable job in marrying the two, especially considering the 10min length. While such a AdVlog should command thousands of $, the inconsistency of audio ambiance from starts/stops detracts a notch. Still, the continuity is good enuf imo... and thats just it - its all just mo. Congrats! ~ Steve

It's totally dry, here in Hungary we have traditionally very few rain, but this year is extreme...Hope you meet soon a dry zone in US...besides Quartzside and Ehrenburg there are certainly enough regions left ;-))))) In Novembre I start over to Greece with the van....snowbirding

Yeahhh, You are welcome !!!! I am at the moment 89 km south-east of Vienna at the southend of Lake Neusiedl. Have still a nice house and ground here, but we wanna sell it because we are separated and in divorce; enough space for boondocking :-) Your van is like mine, a bit longer...the Dodge Rig is here the Fiat Ducato Rig, I have a van build by Hymer which I took over from Mom...this "Streetline Car" is really a wonder in space, I never would have believed it, but if you are active and mostly outside this rig is quite the best you can do for van dwelling....there is another nice van lifer channel by 2 Finns, very nice channel: ua-cam.com/channels/L7n1UgTK1ek9o6MMxl7FBQ.html; and be sure, I have only outdoor clothes, I am sort of country guy...hahahahahaha; time to upgrade my clothes, thanks for your video :-)

Sad to see all the negative comments on this video. Sponsored videos are becoming more and more common, and this is probably one of the best put together sponsored videos I have seen. Van lifers are inherently "outdoorsy" channels, and the watchers lend themselves to being outdoorsy as well, so having a sponsor like Backcountry seems to be right on point. From the looks of some of the comments, this video is doing exactly what it was intended and informing people about their services, who they are and what they provide. I would suspect those negative comments are coming from those that are happy heading down to Walmart or Target and picking up a Coleman tent and a few other odds and ends for a once a year camping trip... and for those, Backcountry is not the place for them, and that is ok.

I don't think Trent and Allie's viewership is just all campers. Maybe some like me have just liked the two of them and their adventures. I personally came to YT to get away from TV. If YT goes commercial like TV, too, I'll see what else pops up.
Just look at it like buying a fantastic steak, you still may need to trim a little fat from time to time. And as far as I am concerned, Backcountry is in my top 3 for places to pick up gear. I am in SLC as well, and having a warehouse here in town where I can see something online, chat in with a gearhead and see if it is in local stock and then go by the retail store and have a runner go grab it in multiple styles/sizes is a game changer as far ask I am concerned. I find myself researching something online, and then heading over to West Valley to try it on and pick it up from there. It is crazy what I have seen people in there trying out before they buy.
But Cary, like what Eliza said, and I agree with, is that some if not most of us are here for maybe a different reason and so we'd kindly like to skip the great detail of information on a subject that does not interest us at the time. Maybe some day it will but for now it does not. As a result we'd like to kindly move on to the other stuff T and A create because they are fun to watch. And, this is not a hate message. Just pointing out a preference in peace.
