I think its too expensive. It is supposed to replace the t150 and it ends up being twice the price. I cant believe that its 2021 and g29 is still the best beginner wheel.
With it's ancient gear system. How long ago was the G25? More than a decade, surely. I feel the same. For that money I could get a proper belt driven wheel with swappable rims.
@@diplomatofthesosbrigade931 i currently own a g29. These 400-500 dollar wheels are in a really weird spot imo. Way better than a g29, but way worse than fanatec stuff. The way ill be upgrading is by slowly buying fanatec gear and in the end getting a fanatec wheelbase and rim. First thing i am going to buy are clubsport pedals v3.
@@andrija4789 You, me and everyone man and his dog will be getting a CSL DD and joining the Fanatec ecosystem when they finally get stock again. Thrustmaster need to do waaay better than this. It’s a sick joke now.
Honestly, if you are getting into Sim Racing or have kids who like racing games, this is probably a really good entry level set up that doesn't require much more than the time to set it up and maybe a wheel stand or cockpit aside from the H pattern shifter. $400 isn't horrible considering you get the 2nd best set of pedals and an interesting looking wheel with a screen that kind of does look like it's straight out of a car. You pretty much get everything you'd need to keep a kid happy until he or she starts getting good and maybe upgrading becomes a thing. Those paddles though. Those are loud. Ouch. Otherwise this is a cool wheel. Not my thing, but if I ever got to the point where I wanted to do one of the truck driving sims, this would be the wheel I would use at it reminds me of the wheel in the trucks I actually drive at work. Think I'll stick with my T300RS for now, as I patiently wait for the prices to drop on the SF1000. I'm not paying $875 for something that was advertised at less than $400 and an extra $70 for the Chrono trigger upgrade. I'm good with $500 after taxes and shipping. But I'm not paying some price gouging scalper an extra $400 because reasons. I'll wait. This is probably the first video review of the T248 that actually gives you a realistic view point of the product in use as it might look in your own home. Good video. I like this channel. Fair, objective and not afraid to give us the facts, no matter how much someone or some manufacturer might not like them. It's the only way things get better.
The T248's shifter paddle noise is actually STUPID EASY (& cheap) to fix! 🤷 Just check the latest short on my channel for one of the better solutions. And if you want to get even CHEAPER/EASIER there are ways to dampen them in seconds with just a couple household rubber bands.
The thing that bothers me most about these higher end of the lower tier wheels. They are so small. Even the Thrustmaster Tx with a respectable 3.9 nm. The wheel is tiny at 28cm. Feels a little toyish, and makes it hard to do full wheel turns if you like to drift. At their price range its kind of really infringing on the mid-tier wheel bases like fanatec or Moza.
I bought this wheel last year and so far I've been really happy with it for the most part. I do agree with the plasticky feel of the inner rim which is a shame but since I use gloves(my hands tend to sweat a bit given I'm a lardass). Torque is pretty decent(3.5nm I think) and compared to the tmx pro I previously had it does feel better to use. I paid $599 aud for it when I bought it which is about $415 usd so yeah, quite expensive at the time but now it's down to about $350 usd so at least it's come down in price. I have the Playseat Evolution cockpit and it fits to that ok and apart from a bit of wobble when racing in Dirt Rally, it's fairly stable as well. I haven't noticed the slow return of the ffb but I don't really have anything else to measure it by as I'm only starting out with sim racing. For now though it's good enough for what I want and should serve me for now while I learn how to race without causing too much destruction to other racers. :)
" I haven't noticed the slow return of the ffb but I don't really have anything else to measure it by as I'm only starting out with sim racing." That's a key remark, the majority of people when starting with racing will be satisfied because they have no comparison. i have the same set and it is perfect for starting out and starting out for me is already 2 years and it still works fine.
I got one of these from ebay for $220. Looking forward to seeing how it goes. I used to have a T300 but it pretty much got stolen. With my budget and requirements I had limited options. The T248 was kinda the only choice. I have to avoid G Hub and it has to be PS5 compatible for Gran Turismo. For the MOST part I'm just casual anyways. I primarily am an American Truck Simulator player 😅
If fanetec had a budget wheel instead of their cheapest being $200 they could blow these out of the water with the CSL DD. Even still you could get a full setup for $600 with the cheapest pedals and wheel
Oof those paddle shifters... That's a hard pass for me. Most of my racing these days happens after my son has gone to sleep and I already can't use my H pattern because it's too loud. I'll be keeping my G29 until I can step up to a CSL DD.
@@be8w I've been really happy with it. I've been using it for years and prior to that I had a G27. Some of the fastest sim racers are still using logitech wheels so they're good from entry level on up to pro. I built a sim rig out of a closet door and some spare plywood. So for less than $300 I have a fully functional rig built to fit me perfectly.
I can absolutely respect that! That's what I'm waiting for. Hopefully it'll be soon. My G29 died literally today. There's a wire coming from the main wheel hub, and one of the smaller wires ended up getting severed. After an attempt to fix it with a splice, I found I could not find any way to fit the splice through the tiny hole to feed it back to the buttons. Very sad, but encourages me further to shoot for Fanatec. I definitely don't regret getting the Logitech to start with.
@@drunk3n_m0nk12 i hate how the logitech wheel feels for some reason, maybe im too picky but i wanted the wheel to feel as close to real car as it can and for me g29 just was not it.
I think I will just hold onto my old TX until I'm ready to pony up for a CSL DD. I already have the TLCM pedals and TH8A shifter, and the next logical upgrade is the high speed of a DD wheel.
Yup. If you already have high end pedals that can be driven independently straight from the PC (aka can be used with ANY wheel/base from ANY manufacturer) like Thrustmaster T-LCM's, it doesn't make sense to not just save up a little more and go straight Direct Drive with something like a Fanatec CSL DD. For a first time force feedback wheel & pedal buyer though, the T248 is a great all-in-one package at the current $300 price point (aka ≈$320 w/ tax) and ESPECIALLY if you can find it for ≈$200-$250 used in good condition w/ everything included. 🤷
I recently bought the t248 I had a g923 it’s a lot stronger then the g923 the pedals feel way higher quality and the ability to change springs easily is convenient and for me the paddle shifters feel really good and for me I don’t think there to loud overall way better then the g923. (sorry if I have any mistakes while writing English isn’t my first language)
In Canada, I can get the fully belt driven + changeable wheel t300rsgt for $100 CAD more. I know it's older but I can't see any reason to not get that instead
I am in Canada also and what bothers me with the T300rs GT vs T248 are the pedals. The T300 wheel is better but the T3PM pedals of the T248 kit are more advanced. I tend to think like other sim racers that the pedals are more important than the wheel to get better and consistent performance on the track.
@@alexandrevaillancourt5535 Yes and no, there are a multitude of ways to mod the TP3A's into good pedals. Including, load cells, spring swaps, brake mod rubbers. Since my issue is I can't use realistic pedals I went the low buck route, I used a squash ball. These New one's look like a dual stage spring mod for the logi pedals. They definitely went after the G923 here.
Those paddles sound like a G920 with a magnetic mod on them, which is what I have done to mine. Loud as hell, but the improvement of shifting feel is well worth it IMO.
The slow snap back is the reason why I wouldnt touch this wheel, it's already terrible on the g29 so this would feel like a downgrade to me when it comes to drifting.
@@TheTWEEK95 I just got the t300rs around a week ago, upgrading from a g29 and I'm more than happy with the rotation speed with the t300rs for drifting, it's MUCH faster than the g29 and makes drifting a lot easier, I don't see a csl dd being much faster but I could be wrong
This won't work with my sim setup, which I can use for racing and playing more relaxed games like Euro truck and/or American truck sims. I am still using the G27. I removed the buttons and paddles, changed the wheel for something slightly bigger, added real indicator/wiper stalks which gave me the room to add a bmw cluster. The base on the logitech wheel is smaller and sleeker allowing room for the positioning of the cluster so one can see the gauges from within the steering wheels center as it would be in a car. I was considering an upgrade but am finding it hard choosing a suitable replacement for both budget and ease of transfer of all the modifications already in use. Because of your review I can remove this wheel from the list, thank you.
Hey I'm using a G29 for ATS. Do you have any pics or vids of your setup or your inspiration? I really want to start on a project similar to what you're describing but having trouble with which parts would go best with each other.
@@IchWillNicht0119 My sim rig is still a work in progress but I do plan on uploading video's with an explanation of what I used and how I incorporated it into my rig to show you don't have to be a tech expert to build your own sim but there are a lot of pitfalls to overcome. I watched a lot of UA-cam videos looking for inspiration prior to starting but i don't have the money for something pre-built, even the cheaper setups are still quite expensive and take up quite a lot of space, neither of which I have a lot of not to mention, they are all centered around racing which would have put me off buying pre-built anyway. I play either ets2 or Ats more so I wanted to build something with that in mind and I wanted it to look somewhat realistic. Once I figure out how to uploaded video's on UA-cam I'll leave a link to make them easy to find.
Can someone answer my question. I just ordered a PSVR2. Ill be playing gran turismo 7. Since i cant even see the wheel while in VR, would you reccomend this one or the logitech one?
judging the price drop of your every day wheel, this most likely will go to around $300 and will be affordable hopefully, so i think its worth the wait to let this thing reduce in price instead of rushing to buy something else
@@fieradrake7855 yeah I paid $230 at dell, you could remove the game. My wheel will be in tomorrow and it's my first wheel, I'll be using it on PC. Not looking for anything special, just something to have fun with. I do want a shifter though, kinda boring with paddle shifters
This video helped with choosing this wheel . I’ve had mine for about a year(xbox version) love playing all the forza games . It was an upgrade from a previous thrust-master wheel that I owned for 6 years. I’m a novice gamer meaning I hook it up maybe twice. Week to casually play for an hour or so. For an entry level wheel i highly suggest, the pedals are A1, love the feel.
Its funny people complain about the paddle shifter noise when its something you think you would be able to ignore if your trying to simulate a car reving its engine while doing 100mph.
Can’t understand how both Logitech and TM release new “updated” wheels where many features are a step back from previous models with a much higher price tag.
Love the video! I have seen this wheel on sale a lot around 300 dollars. I am definitely picking one up over the G923. The Logitech wheels are way to loud for my liking and I don't need a drifting wheel so this should be perfect for me.
The proper "Direct Drive" powered Fanatec CSL DD bundle is currently just $400 (so ≈$430 w/ tax) if you can step up to that puppy, which is BY FAAAAAAAR the best absolute "bang/$" currently available in force feedback sim-racing wheels. 🤷 (The CSL DD has ≈5nm vs the T248's ≈3.5nm of motor power/torque [aka, ≈+40% more], AND all the many, MANY benefits of a proper Direct Drive motor; although you are giving up the T248's included clutch pedal & adjustable tension brake pedal to make this particular upgrade happen.) That said, if you can find the T248 used (in good condition w/ everything included) for like ≈$200-$250 though, then it becomes an absolutely SCREAMING good deal! (I actually found one this past month for just $195 on my local classifieds site! 🥳) The T248 is definitely still totally solid value at the current $300 price brand new (so ≈$320 w/ tax), but I still heavily, HEAVILY recommend that most people just wait to save up another +$100 to get the much superior $400 Fanatec CSL DD bundle instead. 🤷
I don't understand, I got T300 2 years ago, for 250 us. Based on the reviews I've seen, while this wheel has a few more bells and whistles, it falls short on performance and build quality. Although the pedal set looks a little more user friendly and adjustable over the TP3A set. The T3PA's are tough, the pedal mounts are all metal, the arms are plastic, but very durable, the footrest is plastic. They are a simpler design and can be used inverted. No one has mentioned that about the new ones.
I’m sure they can be inverted. I’m gonna flip mine when I get them. Same as the T3pa basically. I bought pedals only (t3pm) and gonna pair with t300 inverted on my custom rig. I’m excited for pedal upgrade. Cheers
The T300 you got for $250 was literally just the base by itself though... 🤦 Aka, that's not even REMOTELY a 1:1/fair comparison!!! At the time the T248 launched ≈2 years ago, the equivalent T300RS full bundle w/ its SIGNIFICANTLY worse 2x pedal box was $450 (so +$50 more), & the 3x pedal T3PA containing T300RS GT was $500 (so +$100 more). That meant to get a wheel, a 3x pedal box, and the smoother + more powerful T300 base you had to spend +$100 more, and even then you still got worse pedals! (As someone who has heavily used both, the T3PM's are a SIGNIFICANT upgrade! The move to Hall effect sensors is DRAMATIC!!! And the more adjustable brake pedal is super nice too). Still, most people at the time would probably have been better off w/ the 2x pedal T300RS at $450 vs this for $400 tbf. 🤷 Nowadays though? The T248 is just $300, while the T300RS is $400 and the T300RS GT (STILL w/ the older & inferior T3PA pedals!) is a hefty $450, which is basically right into entry level direct drive pricing now! Aka the T248 makes PLENTY of sense at its current retail price, whereas the T300RS/GT both look absolutely fucking stupid vs the currently $400 Fanatec CSL DD bundle.
Hello i just placed an order for this wheel at 274 dollars. I am from India and i have no previous experience of force feedback wheels. I had a very cheap wheel with 270 degrees of rotation and 2 pedal set which i was using for a while in ETS 2. But now i will have a far more experience with the T248. Hope it will not disappoint me. 😊
I quite like the noise of the paddle, Its actually alot more realistic than people think, Most cars with this system do "CLUNK" and i think they where going for a realism level a bit too high for gaming! Its nice to have but is just a bit too much for a controller
Given that price, I'll go with Thrustmaster T300RS GT which has a better build quality, better motor, and has a replaceable wheel. I'm going to buy one later thanks to your vids! Keep up the good work!
Paid €250 for it (new) last week. At that price, there is just nothing better. I'm very happy with my purchase. I've been playing FH5, ETS2, ACC and DR2 and it did great in all of these.
Lol I got one in basically 100% mint condition used (w/ everything, including all the brake pedal parts + manual) off my local classifieds site like 2 months ago for just $200! 🥳 And by this point I can pretty confidently say that we both ABSOLUTELY FUCKING CRUSHED IT on the raw bang/$(€) front!!! 😄😁 To seriously do better than we did, we'd have had to have spent ≈$510 (shipped) or whatever the equivalent in Euros is on a ≈5nm (w/ optional ≈8nm PSU brick upgrade) full-fat direct drive Fanatec CSL DD Ready2Race bundle! 😳🤯
@@arkyun I bet the t300 rs gt is way better. It is great for drifting and also has stronger ffb. Also it's smoother because it's completely belt-driven.
I might have bought this over the T150 if it came out last July. but at $400, it is a tough sell especially my reasoning for it is mainly the wheel aesthetics. considering I bought the T150 for around just half the cost of the T248 with maybe some upgrade with the FF and pedals, I believe the cheaper T150 is a much better investment for a starter wheel. anyways, since I can't get over the plastic toy feel of the steering wheel of the T150, I customized it with a $10 wheel cover which is now looks premium and feels a lot better than any of the starter wheels from TM and Logitech.
I'm about to buy my first wheel. What would you buy? TMX for 200€, T150 for 200€, T248 for 300€ or T300 for 400€? I don't really care for the way it looks because I'm going to use it in VR, so I care mostly for quality and precision.
@@wilhufftarkin8543 for a starter wheel? TMX/T150 (both are similar) other than button placement and compatibility for XBox and PS. I would have gone with the T300 which was midrange and better precision but I didn't have the cash and was hearing some durability issues with the T300 like overheating and bricking. I'd say go for the cheaper version til you outgrow it.
I have a Logitech G920 and wanted to change it up, I dislike so much how they didn't fully leather the wheel. I would instantly buy it otherwise now I'm on the fence. I want more buttons on my wheel.
I don't know about you guys, but I think the T-MP on the T248 is very good, except for the noise. For me I feel the T300's paddles are quite 'deep' as you press the paddle and only when you reach a certain 'depth', you will hear the click. The T-MP sound is quite satisfying and nice to press down, but it's just a bit loud when releasing the paddle. Also, the MP is very precise in my opinion and I think you could downshift faster with this one xD as they are magnetic paddles once more. Hoped that the paddles were less chubby tho. Build quality is OK, FFB is ok as well. But the pedals and paddles are the stars of the show. I might consider buying this
I’ve just switched to the t300 base and sf1000 from this. Mine broke after only a couple months. Got it fixed and it broke again in the same time period.
I just order this wheel last night. I was gonna buy the g29 because of the price but the t248 was on sale for 300 which was the same price as the g29 at the time.
Mine had the “leather” peel within 50 hours and my pedals have discolored. My pedals also stop registering fully pressed after an hour of gameplay without fail. I cannot use the paddles because my kids sleep across the house from my setup. They are stupid loud.
I bought this as my first wheel and plan on upgrading to a Fanatec or some other high quality DD eventually but I got this on sale for around $300 and say it is worth it at that price but I wouldn't pay anymore than that for it. At that point invest a lil more and go straight to DD.
Hi i hope u get this in time, is this a good first time sim wheel, im 37 n recently quite literally yesterday got back into gaming, now this wheel is now available on xbox one, next week im buying it. So as ive never used one ever not even in my 20's as always used a controller but as im buying a bundle n want to go round corners smoother plus i dont drive a real world car with a joystick. Basically does this feel realistic enough to feel natural?
Main issue to me is the fact that it doesn’t work with their existing ecosystem of wheel rims. I have a few hundred dollars in thrustmaster rims that are now useless since my TX bricked and it’s not possible to upgrade anymore.
After the slower than ideal motor driven wheel turning speed, this is by FAR the biggest problem with the T248, IMO. Aka, not allowing removable/swappable wheels. The base honestly has PLENTY of raw power/torque for this market segment (≈3.5nm vs just ≈2.5nm on Logitech's similarly priced stuff, or even ≈2nm on TM's older T150/TMX), so having it be permanently locked to just the wheel it comes with just kinda fucking sucks... 🤷
I just brought two of these one for each console. I got the PS5 one for an excellent price £0.00 and the Xbox for £219. So really I got them both for £110. The PS5 box looked really poor so I got onto customer services as I could only return via the post office and because they are heavy there was no way that I could get it about a mile, so after giving them a bit of grief they just said keep the wheel or dispose of it and we will refund you the money. Hopefully it works so I would have got a bargain, but the wheel is better in the hands than I was expecting, it is soft in the hands, yes the gears are noisy, and so far I have not tested these as I am awaiting a rig, but I think that I made the right choice and not getting the G923 or the PX 10 or whatever they are called.
"it's slow to react and in that sense the g29 is a better beginners drifting wheel" as someone who wanted a wheel for mostly forza 5 and dirt rally 2.0 i'll save the extra money and go with g29!
I've read that, tho i race quite often and have done so for a long time with many a different people who often use Thrustmaster aswell and i have never know anybody to have an heat issue.
$400 is a bit high priced with current pricing and availability, T300 + 28GT wheel + T3PA Pedals = $497. Fanatic CSL DD about the same money, If they keep the T150 Pro priced around $250 US, then the T248 is not a that good of a deal, especially with not being able to change wheels. It looks cool but should be around $350. Still a lot of money for a lot of people.
$347 on amazon, but sold out. Love my G29 I bought years ago, but does has some forward and backward flex, but when I'm getting into the race I don't notice.
I think in all honesty if you're looking to upgrade, you should probably be looking at the CSL DD, since an entire package can be had for as little as 650 USD. And with that extra 250 USD you're not only getting a far superior drive system, pedals, and wheel, you're also entering into fanatec's far superior ecosystem with easily identifiable upgrade paths. I think this wheel just completely misses the mark now that the CSL DD is a factor and if TM really wanted *this* to dominate anything, it needs to be 100 dollars cheaper at the minimum.
I have the Logitech g29 and looking to upgrade soon any suggestions I play f1 and gran turismo manly but I do play other games I would really appreciate suggestions
@OCRacing I want to buy a wheel for myself but I do not know what steering wheel should I buy. And because the Thrustmaster T248 is mostly the same prize as the Logitech G923, and by Google, Thrustmaster is better overall, which one You recommend Logitech G923 or Thrustmaster T248?
2 years later and that's basically where it's at. 🤷 $300 when normally priced and as low as $260 when on a proper sale. It now legitimately splits the difference between the entry level T150/TMX vanilla & Pro at $200-$250 and the T300RS vanilla & GT at $400-$450.
I bought both the G29 with shifter and the T248 for the same price $349 USD for GT7 and I I’m trying both and I don’t know which one to keep what do you think sir. I appreciate your opinion.
it looks cool but I've seen a video where a T150 or T150 pro caught on fire because of the force feed back being too much or something like that. I hope that Thrustmaster fixed this issue by keeping and overheat safeguard or something that prevents overheating. But 400$ for a wheel is too much. You can get a Logitech g29 with a shifter and a handbrake and still come under 400$ I think...
G29 with a shifter is about 310. As far as I know Logitech does not make a Estop. There is not a connector on the wheel base either. I'm sure you could get a 3rd party one and connect it seperately. I have the G920 (Xbox version of G29) and I like it. For me the noise and rachety feel is way over emphasized in review videos. I don't notice either when I'm playing. Many complain about the "toy" feel, you will not get rid of this "toy" feel under $500+. I've used a friend's $1000+ setup and it's great, I'm just not willing to spend that kind of money to play a game. And that's just the beginning, once you spend that much for a wheel you're not going to be happy with just a desk and chair or a single 27" monitor you're going to want the whole setup. Start off with a $250 wheel and make sure you REALLY like it before you spend thousands on something you may not use that often. If on the other hand you find that you don't want to do any thing else but simrace in your spare time and you can afford go for it. A full blown setup is VERY nice. For me though my G920 and Quest 2 headset is "real" enough for me considering its not the only game I play.
@@mpholicx2 yes you are correct but in ebay there is handbrake and it costs around 85 dollars, even then it is still lower than the 400$ T248 That comes with the wheel it self and pedals with paddle shifters (I think)
@@mpholicx2Lol way to tell everyone that your current Logitech wheel is the only one you've ever actually used without telling everyone! 🤣 The gear only Logitech motors make the wheel feel like absolute chunky ASS vs even Thrustmaster's entry level gear + belt hybrids, and the feedback itself has significantly less "fidelity/resolution" thanks to the smallest motor movements possible being limited by the width of each gear tooth (whereas TM's additional belt let's their motor move the wheel anywhere they want, even if in-between gear teeth). Not to mention that the motor in this particular wheel (T248) is also SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful! (≈3.5nm vs Logi's ≈2.5nm) Where Logitech has an unquestionable significant advantage otoh is in terms of external build quality/materials, but is that really where you want the build budget on an entry level force feedback wheel set going instead of into the actual motor & pedals?... O_o ... REALLY??? Basically/TL;DR = If buying cheap (=$400) you go proper "Direct Drive" with something like Fanatec's ≈5nm CSL DD bundle being just $400 nowadays. None of Logitech's offerings even REMOTELY make any sense anymore at current prices. 🤷
Except that Logitech's gear only motors feel like absolute FUCKING ASS compared to even Thrustmaster's entry level gear + belt hybrids. 🤷 Not to mention they are just straight up weaker motors (≈2.5nm vs the T248 here's ≈3.5nm), even if totally excusing their significantly worse feedback "resolution/fidelity". Essentially, literally NOBODY should be buying Logitech force feedback wheels in the modern era with prices the way they are. Thrustmaster kicks the absolute fucking shit out of them under $400 and Fanatec + Moza's proper direct drive setups kick the shit out of them at/over $400.
Will be waiting for the comparison to t300rs. Thinking about buying my first set and the market is confusing to say the least. Thanks for the video! Note: did not like g29 that much, feels too much like a toy.
Get a DD CSL and a decent set of pedals. Nothing else in the mid tier makes sence to buy now. Or buy one of the many 2nd hand CSW CSL elite Wheelbase is now available on the second-hand market once everybody has upgraded to a CSLDD
What's your budget? I think regarding wheels you are better off with a T300 RS (with the T3PA pedals) as a package. I had the T300 and it's a solid wheel with really good feedback. The T300 may not considered an entry-level wheel but at 400 you can't call the T248 an "entry level" wheel either. Thrustmaster are shooting themselves on the foot with this price tag in the current market.
@@Dzul74Except that the vanilla T300RS has crap pedals and even the T300RS GT has the older and significantly worse (in my personal experience) T3PA pedals vs the T248's lusciously magnetic T3PM's. 🤷 At T300RS prices you should just buy a proper entry level direct drive setup like Fanatec's currently just $400 CSL DD bundle. Full belt driven motors like the T300 simply do not make any market sense anymore in a world when entry level direct drive bundles have hit the exact same price points. (Aka ≈$400 now or like ≈$500-$600 when the T248 in this video first launched like ≈2 years ago.)
Bro, A suggestion why not compare wheels next time from your own car?! And is this pedal compatible with thrustmaster t150? Because I already bought one on the Amazon sale I have more money to spare?
I bought this wheel in July 2022, pedals lost connection on june 2023. It was a struggle but eventally got a new replacement after a month of back and forth emails. After 5 months, the wheel broke. It would lose connection after 2 to 3 laps or turn left or right on its own then disconnect completely. I'm out of warranty so going to try repair it by someone. I'm not impressed with the quality of the T248. Very poor.
9:00 The T3PM's pedals actually have FOUR different brake pedal tension settings, not two!!! As in it's not just the two different springs you can swap in/out, but also that super thick white rubber spring depressing washer as well! Aka, each spring has two VERY DISTINCT tension settings based on whether or not you ALSO use that thick rubber washer on top (w/ washer = more & stiffer tension; w/o washer = less & softer tension). 🤷
I have a TMX with a 3 petal set. It's about 3 years old now, and worn down. I've had to take it apart many times to fix the shifters, and the rubber grips have been shredded with use. Is this worth the $200 bucks extra? I love the extra switches and the small display, but IDK?

This is why I love this channel. Quick, to the point, and honest as hell.
@@andrija4789 Good choice, and csl dd with any csl wheel will cost you around 550 if you buy the boost kit later.
@@andrija4789 im in the exact same boat as you. Nothing makes sense in the mid tier anymore besides getting a csl dd and going full fanatec from there
@@andrija4789 You, me and everyone man and his dog will be getting a CSL DD and joining the Fanatec ecosystem when they finally get stock again.
I agree with everything you wrote. Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Steve. 🙏

400$ for a kid? Shii even if i was elon musk ima buy my kid a used g27 for 80$ fr.
The T248's shifter paddle noise is actually STUPID EASY (& cheap) to fix! 🤷 Just check the latest short on my channel for one of the better solutions. And if you want to get even CHEAPER/EASIER there are ways to dampen them in seconds with just a couple household rubber bands.
a 400$ product replacing a 200$ one seems kind of oof
also, that miata is looking 👌
Yeah dont really see why anyone would buy this over a t300 which is cheaper and has better FFB.

Literally waited for the second part of the review. Solid job
That's facts
thats cuz they want to sell goddamn add on wheels for drifting
thanks for this review OC, I ended up going with the Thrustmaster TX leather edition in the end.
Is it worth it?
I’ve checked and Amazon sells these for 300 now making it a pretty solid option
" I haven't noticed the slow return of the ffb but I don't really have anything else to measure it by as I'm only starting out with sim racing."
That's a key remark, the majority of people when starting with racing will be satisfied because they have no comparison. i have the same set and it is perfect for starting out and starting out for me is already 2 years and it still works fine.
G923 vs T248, battle of the overpriced wheels
coming soon!
If fanetec had a budget wheel instead of their cheapest being $200 they could blow these out of the water with the CSL DD. Even still you could get a full setup for $600 with the cheapest pedals and wheel
@@ethanhiggins4887 Honestly 200.00 for a sim wheel and button box is SUPER cheap.

Oof those paddle shifters... That's a hard pass for me. Most of my racing these days happens after my son has gone to sleep and I already can't use my H pattern because it's too loud. I'll be keeping my G29 until I can step up to a CSL DD.
Are you happy with the g29? I play alot of F1 2020 on controller, but I want to try with wheel and pedals.
@@drunk3n_m0nk12 Cool, thanks for the reply. I will try with the g29 and see if its for me, then later maybe rip appart a door or two.

Yup CSL DD is my next purchase
@@ethanhiggins4887 me too, moving on from g29
How is the reliability?
Of the TX
DD CSL ( when in stock) is the biggest reason I can think of.
Lucky you, in Amazon and EBay that T300 GT it’s $600 USD or more.

The slow snap back is the reason why I wouldnt touch this wheel, it's already terrible on the g29 so this would feel like a downgrade to me when it comes to drifting.

You're an idiot. You realize you calibrate that right?
I bought mine for $299 at Gamestop on sale 2 years ago. Probably right after this video hahaha I LOVE it compared to my T150
YES,ive been asking for this for 2 weeks Thank you
This video helped with choosing this wheel .
(The CSL DD has ≈5nm vs the T248's ≈3.5nm of motor power/torque [aka, ≈+40% more], AND all the many, MANY benefits of a proper Direct Drive motor; although you are giving up the T248's included clutch pedal & adjustable tension brake pedal to make this particular upgrade happen.)
That said, if you can find the T248 used (in good condition w/ everything included) for like ≈$200-$250 though, then it becomes an absolutely SCREAMING good deal! (I actually found one this past month for just $195 on my local classifieds site! 🥳)
The T248 is definitely still totally solid value at the current $300 price brand new (so ≈$320 w/ tax), but I still heavily, HEAVILY recommend that most people just wait to save up another +$100 to get the much superior $400 Fanatec CSL DD bundle instead. 🤷
Your channel is growing so fast, keep it up bro :D
Nowadays though? The T248 is just $300, while the T300RS is $400 and the T300RS GT (STILL w/ the older & inferior T3PA pedals!) is a hefty $450, which is basically right into entry level direct drive pricing now! Aka the T248 makes PLENTY of sense at its current retail price, whereas the T300RS/GT both look absolutely fucking stupid vs the currently $400 Fanatec CSL DD bundle.
@@Cooe. No I got the GT3 package one came with the wheel and pedals.

To seriously do better than we did, we'd have had to have spent ≈$510 (shipped) or whatever the equivalent in Euros is on a ≈5nm (w/ optional ≈8nm PSU brick upgrade) full-fat direct drive Fanatec CSL DD Ready2Race bundle! 😳🤯

It comes with full plastic pedals

Logitech all the way dude ✌️
Mine had the “leather” peel within 50 hours and my pedals have discolored. My pedals also stop registering fully pressed after an hour of gameplay without fail. I cannot use the paddles because my kids sleep across the house from my setup. They are stupid loud.

Yup, totally agree.
Good review, just ordered one for 249 $
I just brought two of these one for each console.
"it's slow to react and in that sense the g29 is a better beginners drifting wheel"
as someone who wanted a wheel for mostly forza 5 and dirt rally 2.0 i'll save the extra money and go with g29!
As of now February 3rd 2024 it costs less than 300 usd ( 278 euro ) on Amazon. Should I consider it?
I love the fact that you referenced Doug Demuro or however you spell it lol 😅
What about its cooling capability? Seems that overheating is a common problem on previous Thrustmaster wheels.

Oof
I have the Logitech g29 and looking to upgrade soon any suggestions I play f1 and gran turismo manly but I do play other games I would really appreciate suggestions
Can always get a wheel cover to make the feel more comfortable
@OCRacing I want to buy a wheel for myself but I do not know what steering wheel should I buy. And because the Thrustmaster T248 is mostly the same prize as the Logitech G923, and by Google, Thrustmaster is better overall, which one You recommend Logitech G923 or Thrustmaster T248?
A $279 price point and that is a game changer for many.
Thats exactly what a quality super car padel shifter is supposed to sound like. That sounds actually a good thing
I've scoured the internet and still can't find the bit resolution of this wheel. Have found this information?
any conclusion?
it looks cool but I've seen a video where a T150 or T150 pro caught on fire because of the force feed back being too much or something like that.
The gear only Logitech motors make the wheel feel like absolute chunky ASS vs even Thrustmaster's entry level gear + belt hybrids, and the feedback itself has significantly less "fidelity/resolution" thanks to the smallest motor movements possible being limited by the width of each gear tooth (whereas TM's additional belt let's their motor move the wheel anywhere they want, even if in-between gear teeth). Not to mention that the motor in this particular wheel (T248) is also SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful! (≈3.5nm vs Logi's ≈2.5nm)
Where Logitech has an unquestionable significant advantage otoh is in terms of external build quality/materials, but is that really where you want the build budget on an entry level force feedback wheel set going instead of into the actual motor & pedals?... O_o ...
Been trying to get my hands on a T300 but no luck so far :(
Get a DD CSL and a decent set of pedals.
@@Cooe. I agree with what you say... the thread is from a year ago though. ;) MOZA would be my choice right now.
Bro, A suggestion why not compare wheels next time from your own car?! And is this pedal compatible with thrustmaster t150? Because I already bought one on the Amazon sale I have more money to spare?
Pretty sure it should work!
@@OCRacing thanks man!
Dang dude, you talked me out of what I was looking at. What is a good 4-5 hundred wheel? I hope you have a vid for that
pro: better than any budget wheel
cons: not a budget wheel
I have a TMX with a 3 petal set. It's about 3 years old now, and worn down. I've had to take it apart many times to fix the shifters, and the rubber grips have been shredded with use. Is this worth the $200 bucks extra? I love the extra switches and the small display, but IDK?
I have no wheel and this is the cheapest and the latest option. Should be good right?
@@thegreat4954 I think so
I feel like they listened to everything you said when they came out with the Leather Edition for Xbox! except the fact that it’s $100 more😫
Looking forward to buy my first Steering wheel and found one t248 at 200 euros, is this worth for it ?
Been waiting for this!
