Hey Emma, you add lemon juice to help lower the PH to help the pectin gel properly and ‘set’ the jam. Lemon juice also helps lower bacteria growth I think.
I've been wanting to go to Japan for a long time now, and I was planning on going after a big project I have is finished at the end of 2023, but something happened today and I now realise I won't ever be fit enough to travel, I have a lung condition and it's getting harder for me to just do everyday things. I am very down so I've been watching your videos all again to cheer me up, but at least I have them and others like them to show me what it's like and live vicariously through haha. Thank you so much!
The canoeing looked amazing!!! Floating down the river like a pooh stick. Imagine floating on a raft on your back, on a load of cushions wrapped in a blanket, just letting the current take you. 🦦🧘🏼
I love your video style. Informative but also relaxing. The music you pick is very chill and soothing. Double the entertainment too, watching it through once, then again with auto generated subtitles to see what a mess it makes out of the Japanese words lol
Looks like fun, thanks for sharing...although as a long time kayak & canoe instructor, they're called kayaks. Canoes are open topped and you paddle them with a single bladed paddle. 🙂
That’s what I thought too! Definitely kayaks, but the place called them canoes so I’m like ?? Ah well still an amazing time on the water! The scenery was so beautiful
@@TokidokiTraveller Whether you're in a kayak or canoe, just being on the water is awesome. You see the world from such a different perspective and notice things that landlovers miss out on! 😊
I started laughing so hard at the "Look at this tiny pumpkin! Look at this child!" since that is 100% something I would do. My boyfriend heard me and I showed him that clip. He said, "That's you. How'd you get to Japan?" 🤣
I was just watching Ocean Waves from Studio Ghibli :))) one of my favorite films from them and it’s also set in Kochi! Good to see how it looks like irl
If you have a Q & A I'd love answers to a few questions. In junior high I had an exchange student stay with us for a few days at least. I still have the kimono and a couple other things. I took a semester of Japanese a little after that time. I find it all fascinating.
They took a van down to where we finished further down the river and picked us and the boats up and drove us back 😄 I was so worried we would have to kayak all the way back up the river 😂
Girl in the background, look mom i'm on UA-cam, lol. Emma should be a expert biker since she was on Broad's insane challenge to bike across Japan... too bad Chris was sick and didn't make good footage with Emma and Chris.
LOVED THE VIDEO! This might sound dumb but what is the most common way for travellers to get to the Kochi area from the mainland, especially if they have a JR pass?
Actually I just looked it up and you can use JR pass to get to kochi! It will take a while if you go from Tokyo because you can’t take the fastest train -nozomi. But the trip to kochi should be completely covered by JR pass 😄 to get to this specific area you can take a train to Tokawa station 😊 The quickest way to get there would probably be flying, but if you already have JR pass that would be super convenient 💪🏻
Was hoping for: Travelling by bike on a train in a canoe on the water in the countryside by a town.
Bahahahahaha

Well now I know! Thanks for the info 😄
You often see citric acid as an ingredient in food, which acts as a preservative.
That kayaking looked amazing I love how making things is a big part of tourism in Japan.
Such a fun and peaceful trip 😌❤️ The blueberry jam turned out so good! 😋

This cute little shiman torocco reminds me of that little train in Spirited away
It was truly the most peaceful trip I’ve event been on☺️ Perfect weather for canoeing💕 It was fun chasing and filming you guys😁
You did a great job filming us!!! Thanks so much for everything, I reeeeally loved Kochi, I want to visit again during the koinobori!
Tokidoki Traveller Ooooo yeah the Koinobori season must be gorgeous🤩
What a beautiful town! I'm glad that you are helping Japan promote the lesser known areas to international tourists :)

Watching this made me feel so peaceful. What a gorgeous place!
THat's right, keep em comin Emma! These are so soothing!
All the food and scenery looked gorgeous. Also, I’m pleased that you didn’t get cooked as a stew 😂
With the heat of the water I did wonder if being stew was my fate 😂
I really enjoy your videos. You are so wholesome and honest.
You look so happy! Thank you for taking us with!
The canoeing part made this whole video one of the most relaxing video I've seen.
Emma, I just started watching your videos. You really REALLY deserve more views!
It would be so nice to hear you speaking Japanese a lot more Emma!
Emma. I’m so glad I found you. Awesome channel ☺️👍🏻 Thank you
I loved this video!! I would love to travel here 😭

it was so nice to hear you speak more japanese than usual in this video

Nice! Kochi is Japan's hidden gem. Home of the countries cleanest and most beautiful rivers
What a wonderful trip ❤
I so love watching your videos! Also, the scenery is beautiful!
PS. I've been a fan ever since I watched you on Living Big in a Tiny House 💕

This is so my kind of trip ❣️ lovely seeing Japan this way.
I love your jacket haha & I love your adventures in Japan :D
I just got to say: Best intro on UA-cam!
Great videos

The kayaking looked like a lot of fun!
Love your adventurous food nature. That whitefish... I don’t know if I could eat that.
Was it bones and all?
Yes! Please! More videos like this!
The weather looks amazing!
That looked like a fun place to visit.
Hey there, i actually stumbled upon your channel by accident. But i love your video's! Hope to see a lot more of them. Love from Holland.
This was one beautiful video!
what a lovely place to kayak
It’s actually my favourite kayak experience I’ve had in Japan! I think if I lived in the area I would have to buy a kayak 😂
Oh, good, they've got blueberries over there. :) (Oh, also I think the citrus juice is to help preserve it, it has those properties. :) )
I would love to visit! Great video :)
5:52 The Wedding Feast - Bonnie Grace
So beautiful!😍
usually you'll add citric acid like lemon juice to jam to help it set, if the fruit itself is not acidic enough.
I think Mont-Blanc cake might be French actually :) very popular over there
Yes it is !
Love food, looks really good.

It looks so nice there! Although now I have to admit I'm craving blueberry jam...
I really really want to go to Japan and live there.
Thanks for feeding my procrastination.🙏🏼✨ Wasn’t gonna study anyway lol
Oops 😅 happy to help out haha but I hope you can study soooon 👀👀👀
A chestnut mashed cream cake "MontBlanc" is not popular in Australia. I didn't know that!
You are the best 😍...but the subscriber to views ratio is mildly said astonishing (where are these people? 🤔) 😃😄😀😁😂
Cool.
The hotpot @9:10 looks very delicious. By the way, whatever happened to your pet hamster? Haven't seen it for some time.
Such a beautiful place. It looks so calm and relaxing, if I could choose anywhere in the world to live in, that'd be it. Followed closely by Ehime.
おもしろかった!
Anyone else notice the ice cream hiding in the background @12:46 ?....like in the outro. Also love that jacket Emma! Where'd it from?
I wanna Yuru-camp by that river!
Emma, the human hot pot.
I can't stop wondering about what you do after drifting down-river. Do you portage the canoes back, or do they have a place to drop them off?
They took a van down to where we finished further down the river and picked us and the boats up and drove us back 😄 I was so worried we would have to kayak all the way back up the river 😂
8:09 "Here the little birdy goes, hippidy hop, all the way to the birdy boiler."
I was so scared for your getting in that bath!
Silly question Emma, but do you go back to your videos to watch your journey so far, and how have you changed?
Brandon was here. p.s. Good video. I'll be sure to try out that 蜂蜜ゆず drink some day! Sounds great.
Good to see you Brandon 😂

sit up in that boat emma! much more comfortable 😋
If you're served Ramen on a Canoe, is that Canoodling?
Cool video 👍👍👍😎
I am your friend 😉
How do you get to travel and study around Japan?
You add lemon juice to add acidity to the jam. Signed, a Chef.
Hi Emma!
8:16 I wonder what taste "Emma soup" has.
It’s gonna be nasty 🤢
Come on Emma do the Math, ik you can do the Math, math can be really hard, you can do the math !
