    This is an excellent explanation of this common XK8 problem. It only took 30yrs to solve. Once installed these will last forever. I went with Peter Hobman's parts, but both are excellent. Thank you.

      Thank you, Gary. I have the top mounts re-assembled now with Steve's isolators. Video coming up soon.

    A great balanced piece of pro and con weighing. Also I had not come across the ENERGY SUSPENSION option previously, so something new learnt.👍

      I just checked ENERGY SUSPENSION website and nothing. I wish they did make these parts but I see they make nothing for Jaguars???

      Yes, they don't list anything explicitly for Jaguar, but from what I remember when I did my research across forums, there were people saying that Energy do have mount isolators which actually match the exact dimensions of the isolators we need. I wish I had saved those posts, but at the end I would still recommend going with the custom-made products by Steve Davis or Peter Hobman. I am super happy with Steve's kit.

    we used URO Parts shock mounts (isolators are the same color as OEMs in the Video) in jag xkr 3 years ago , driven it almost 10k Miles since install and no problems, and half our roads in town aren't exactly smooth, its been 3 years

      That's great to hear! I wonder if there is inconsistency in manufacturing quality at the factory line for the Uro mounts, as multiple owners have experienced failures in short periods after install. I am also noticing that the price for the Uro mounts went up and with the current price levels, choosing Steve or Peter's isolators is a no-brainer.

    Those URO mounts appear to be made from a different material than the poor URO mounts that John and others have experienced. Perhaps URO have finally worked out how to make a decent product? If I were intending to use URO mounts I would give them a call and confirm that I was going to receive the new brown formulation rather than the original yellow version. It would be great to see some proper compression tests on the new URO mounts compared with the alternatives.

      Yes indeed. At least the colour is definitely different. I hope the quality of the isolator material itself has gone up, just as the price did :)

    I bought mine from SNG Barratt(in 2021), it was not OEM if I remember well, but to be honest they didn't give info about what brand it was. Most likely URO because its yellow...

    Can these shock mounts/spring isolators be a reason for creaking noise when going over speed bumps?

    • @2001JaguarXK8
      @2001JaguarXK8  4 місяці тому

      Hi Neven, I have heard that they could be the cause of creaking noises, but on my vehicle they were not causing any noises. I did have squeaks coming from the upper wishbone bushings. You can hear the kind of squeaks here: ua-cam.com/video/naqTEQ5rsSA/v-deo.html and also at 5:42 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/ewBVtG99E8A/v-deo.html. To get rid of the squeaks I had to change the upper control arm bushings, lubricating was not enough. @nevengordic9888

    To me, it appears that the 'new' Uro's are the way to go.

      The revised Uros may be better than the previous yellow ones, I have not used them personally and could not confirm. So far I am very happy with Steve's mounts - they fit perfectly and the car drives beautifully with them.

    Just an idea... have you thought of doing a video on replacing your transmission and engine mounts? I suppose they are still the original ones and need replacement? Thanks for your videos. I enjoy them a lot and are very helpful!

      Hi Nathan, thank you for your feedback. My car is under 50k miles and I haven't noticed any problems or symptoms which point towards worn engine or transmission mounts. I hope I don't have to do that service any time soon :)

      @@2001JaguarXK8 What video subjects do you have in the pipeline?

    • @2001JaguarXK8
      @2001JaguarXK8  5 місяців тому

      I document my ownership journey with the XK8. I tend to record the more interesting/key maintenance and repair activities. I don't have an explicit list of topics, basically wherever the ownership journey takes me.
      Having said that, there are a number of topics I want to cover:
      - Power steering fluid change (first video is published, the fluid change itself remains to be done)
      - Gearbox fluid change
      - Differential fluid change (first video is published, fluid change remains to be done)
      - Engine oil change
      - Upper timing chain tensioners
      - Thermostat tower
      - Water pump
      - Sway Bar bushings (front and rear)
      I have bought all the parts already, just have to do the work and film it. None of this is mandatory at this point, just prudent preventative maintenance.
      I am also open to suggestions, as long as the proposed activity is not something unnecessary for my car - for example, I would not be filming replacing a wheel bearing, unless a wheel bearing is actually on its way out. I hope this makes sense :)
      Cheers!

    ENERGY SUSPENSION Jaguar XK8 Nothing Found !!!...... ? Can you help me please ? Thank you

    • @2001JaguarXK8
      @2001JaguarXK8  2 місяці тому

      Hi @Lolololo-bg6ep , like I mentioned in the video, Energy do not carry a product specifically for the XK8 (our Jag is not in the list). I have read in Jag forums that Energy Suspension do have isolators that fit our cars, but the product is not categorized for an XK8. I don't know which product this is, I did not research it further. The main reason being that in terms of overall cost and quality, the best way to solve your problem once and forever is to get the kit offered by Steve Davis (like I did), or Peter - you can't go wrong with either of those products.
