People really tend to focus on the graphics/animations on these videos. I just want to point out, this is incredibly well written. No amount of pretty graphics can make up for a bad story, and this is so well told I would have listened to it with no graphics at all.

Important addition about 17:48: the dark web and onion routing aren't just random places regular people created to stay anonymous, the entire technology and the Tor browser were created by the US intelligence offices, however they had to make it publicly available, since you can't just run these servers to anonymise yourself, and then use them for yourself only, anyone running a website could just see a connection from those servers and instantly recognise that some agent from the USA was connected to your website. They just have to take the bad with the good, because they need the system.

After all that, the site still exists. That was the most surprising part of this video. Authorities got extremely lucky to get as far in the case as they did, if not for that email. Maybe the anon was Desnake himself, settling a score over money not paid or something. He was the main guy now after all. Knew the site down to the ones and zeros. He bides his time then comes back in full force, now safer with the knowledge of where and how his predecessor fucked up, and wont make the same mistakes, getting the respect and money he wanted in the first place.

not everything is a movie plot! there are no big bosses like kingpins involved in this as there's no point when they could sell IRL (and prob aren't based in Thailand anyways) and the authorities don't need to run darknet markets because they already have the connections and power to sell this stuff in person as well. No cartel or mafia or police agency has anything to gain from this guy dying lmfao.
