It's always interesting to hear how the family members of victims feel like "no one cared" but these are many times the same people that enjoyed whatever their now deceased loved ones illegal lifestyle garnered for them. This isn't always the case but it is the case many times. When a hard working good person is robbed and murdered, people feel anger and want action, strangers included. When people hear that a person that was selling poison to their loved ones was killed, they don't usually care as much. That's just being honest and real. Another big part of the problem is that you're dealing with a culture that usually refuses to work with the authorities. When it's not their loved one needing help, they don't want to get involved. It's very similar to how things were when the Mafia was openly powerful, people didn't cooperate with the police much and things were allowed to carry on for years.
Living in Chicago, I see this. The folks in the bad part of town get killed left and right, and no one cares. It's not that people are heartless. It is because these people choose to continue to live in these areas (Illinois is generally is a low-cost state, and there are TONS of places to live that are not infested by criminals for similar prices with similar job markets), not talk to authorities, and generally accept or even partake in criminal activity. There is definitely a lack of interest when members of these communities are injured or killed. It's just the trash taking out the trash.
@@PS_____ You're fairly spot on. I don't know anything about the cost of living and housing costs near Chicago and in Illinois but if it is affordable, like you're saying, then people are crazy for staying in the bad neighborhoods.

6:32 I don't think it's that weird for Martinez to fly under the radar if he is listed in numerous murder investigations. That is assuming he committed them in different jurisdictions, because in the 70s and 80s they did not keep databases on everything. Doing what we would now consider due diligence must have been much more time-consuming back then, when you would have to make a phone call to ask someone to dig through a filing cabinet, or even travel there to do it yourself.

OP - I thought the same as you 👍 I got to 1:15 &, as soon as they called him "cold-blooded", my instant reaction was "nope, they killed his sister! That's not cold-blooded, that's vengeance!". For those saying that the people in the house may or may not have been involved, remember that he dropped her off the night she went missing. He saw them and they made him uncomfortable, so he knew who they were and who he was targeting. Police will have needed descriptions from him because nobody came forward. Whether they killed her or not, they were involved because they didn't come forward, didn't help her, and did nothing to let the family know what was happening or look for her. He knew the score at 16. It's difficult to knock him for that.
US police in general are very bad at catching murderers, the US have a nation wide closure rate for this type of crome of only 52.3%, Germany has a closure rate of 91,2 % down from the best it was in this decade with 95,1 % and even better 99,8 in the 90s.

It suprised me how sloppy and careless this cartel hitman was. He would probably been able to go on for much longer if he was more careful.
You do realize most hitman are just drug addicts or poor people.
Movies like to make them look cunning, but in reality most of them aren't that bright and just know the basics.
@@FenrirAlter Like Netflixs new movie "the killer"
@@FenrirAlter - Right, cuz poor and cunning are obviously antonyms to each other... 💀
@@wes4736 I think you took the point wrong, I believe he meant to convey that most of these “hit men” are not highly trained killers. They are usually just unfortunate people that are a product of their environment and/or choices who take this job out of desperation.
I was thinking the same thing but I suppose he was more of a 'contractor' for the cartel, not really a 'member/employee' so to speak. Since he was effective he kept getting jobs, but if he got caught the cartel could claim plausible deniability and avoid heat from law enforcement by being targeted for investigation into local operations (obv LE cant do anything if they're in Mexico)

It’s because he accidentally said the Chuck E. Cheese slogan instead of the toys r us slogan

You see this message in so many societies on missing people-
It’s scary to know whole generations in schools are being told no one cares.

WOW, I wanna thank you for your talent in animating and putting in into this beautiful video. It's really impressive to tell something and keep it interesting for 21 minutes straight!

I appreciate you putting the length of the ad in your video
Your production quality is so high, it almost doesn't belong on UA-cam.
You guys are balling at a Vimeo level, every video, every time.
the fact that 12:30 is replayed so much should hint you that it was a bit confusing
or you are just stupid
That was butchered, as well as ownership of the truck earlier in the video. The vague use of “his” when you’re talking about multiple male characters at the same time makes it hard to keep track of who’s “his.”
Quit bitching
12:30 is replayed so much is because that joke was funny af.
Continuously impressed by this channel and its quality.

This is my first Fern. Instant fan. Subbed. 😊
I just found your channel it's so good! Keep going, these stories are so interesting and aren't talked about enough
The book about this guy is fascinating. It's like he's horrible, but does have a conscience. He's definitely a psychopath, but different than a serial killer.
Hes a sociopath
He can't be a psychopath and have a conscience. You need to pick one. The word psychopath is thrown around so much today when most of the time it's wrong. People can be evil or just do horrible things due to their circumstances etc. Not every murderer or criminal is one.

I really like the visual style of this video. Very engaging but not over the top, well done
I mean it IS heartbreaking that he killed all those folks, but lets not try to beat around the fact that most of them were stupid enough to steal from the cartel.
New to your videos but, LOVE them! I have scrolled all of them yet but have you considered doing longer form content on topics like this?

Most grandparents are.
This is coming from a 16 year old kid who lives in Tulare, I found it crazy how he could do those things only at 16, on top of that being my age, it's truly scary knowing the type of people who are out there.
At 14 he was smuggling drugs.
he grew up with crime, thats why.
i say keep your tail between your legs, don't be rude and don't mess around with anyone so that u don't accidendantly fuc with some psycho cartel gringo and u should be fine, no one will try to hurt u for 0 reason so dw :)
And he's your uncle right ?
What is special about your age, that you feel you specifically couldn't do it now? Ask most old people, and they'll say they could never kill anybody at any point in their lives.
Well he didn't exactly grew up with a stellar father/mother figure. Makes perfect sense to me
This is a very high quality documentary, thank you for your work!
Homicide detectives are ambitious. They only stop investigating when there's nothing to go on.
Holy moly I’m from Tulare County and I’ve never heard of this dude. Haven’t lived there for a while but still.
I've seen documentaries on him but I never knew that he was from Tulare county... He was taking out rivals and other drug dealers and pedos so I don't think he's that bad... Also heroin is a drug that has to be well protected it makes the most money and there's a lot of cutthroat politics when it comes to dealing it...
I love the style of your animations. Its informative and helps layout the crimescene but also has this empty ominous feeling which goes great with your video. Great work keep it up!

@@PS_____
You're fairly spot on. I don't know anything about the cost of living and housing costs near Chicago and in Illinois but if it is affordable, like you're saying, then people are crazy for staying in the bad neighborhoods.

The hitman element puts him in a grey area. Serial killers do it purely for personal reasons. There are tens of millions of military personnel around the world who are legally allowed to kill other people. It's one reason this case is not as disturbing.
He’s working for the cartels. There is no grey area here.
Is disregarding human life for money supposed to somehow be less evil than doing it for personal reasons?
@@diexbag7637 In principle, as it relates to the military and law enforcement, yes. I wouldn’t really call it “disregarding human life” either. In almost every other case, no.
@@AdanSolas I was mostly responding to the first comment. Being a hitman is almost never a grey area.

Where has this channel been I love it
6:32 I don't think it's that weird for Martinez to fly under the radar if he is listed in numerous murder investigations.

A cold blooded homicide? They killed his sister. I don’t think it was cold blooded at all.
He killed 3 people who may or may not have been involved with his sisters death that's pretty cold blooded
@@shadowknightgaming1874don’t explain things to him he’s a yogurt brain who wants to believe a guy who killed 40+ is justified
He had no clue if those people had killed his sister, they were just in the same building. Could have been the killer and his two random friends he invited over for poker, for all he knew
His own family did he kills alot of people connected to his family members im from the town next to earlimart he was rich and owned buisness in my town at one point he's part of the marrtinez/fernandez family in my area
