What an awful sponsor pick :/
I don't understand how this can be promoted by a creator... Have we been watching AI generated videos all this time?
Poor sponsor choice my guys
I love how the police took only a month to find the perps... if it happened to me they would just go "well... you shouldn't click random links"
that's how they be
@@siyacerA two-tiered justice system is not how they should be.
Yep, if they even talk to you lol. They’ll always care more about the people on top
Exactly. And after all that, we are supposed to feel sorry for these people? You got justice and you still get to b*tch about it on the internet and earn money and PR points off of said b*tching while there are people who have permanent mental health issues, can't afford therapy and got blown off by the police.
Now ask why they don't know who the Jan 6th bomber was even tho they have video evidence....and why they say they don't know who left the cocaine in the white house despite it being in...THE WHITE HOUSE.
I feel like people worship celebrities so much they don’t see them as people anymore, hence why they treat them so terribly. It’s a curse to be famous and a blessing.
People worship celebrities so much they treat them as gods, as infallible and perfect, so when they do something they don’t like or have a different opinion people feel as though a god has fallen and lost their mandate, it’s such a strange concept to idealize people like we do celebrities
I think it goes both ways, either they see them as absolute gods, and worship them as such or they dont see them as people anymore and treat them terribly like you stated. In both instances people forget they ARE people.
Wow I wonder why the incredibly rich and famous aren’t treated as just people.
Let's not pretend celebrities don't play into this. I'm not saying they deserve to be doxxed or treated as "other". However, they market their own baby pictures and old clothes as if they are prized possessions and not just garbage or personal mementoes.
As a society we need to stop idolizing people period.
Also lets not forget that men did all this hacking and distributing. Fathers even. To what extent do we owe regular old objectification of women to this phenomenon? I would say its way more of a factor than the supposed dehumanization of fame
What's worse, is celeb gets hacked, fbi gets involved. But dozens of people (not just women) get hacked and leaked and even blackmailed daily, and are just told "well you shouldn't have done it"
my thoughts, your words
Better not take such pictures, don't store them on your devices

This is why I plan on telling my daughter, when she's older, that you don't even need to upload to a website. If you have anything digitalized, it can be uploaded to the internet.
I mean, this pictures and vids were uploaded to the internet, iCloud is part of the internet. If the photos were only in their phone and not in an online backup, stealing the pics would have been much harder. It would have needed to be a more targeted attack and they would have needed more than just a mail and a password

When people try to be privacy advocates, they are shunned and spoken down to. Common responses are, "Well I've got nothing to hide."
Yes, yes, you do
Privacy and security are important and everyone should know how to take care of their stuff. Do what you can to protect yourself.
On the other end of the spectrum, did these people really need to break in, steal all these celebrities photos and share them? No they did not, and they are deplorable for it.
My most favourite and dire example: Even if the ppl gathering the data are harmless you'll never know what happens when this data is found by the wrong ppl.
The Netherlands mass-stored the religion of every citizen before ww2, right next to their names and addresses. No problem until the Nazis came, looked at those records and suddenly had a nice list of whom to kill.
And those are just about basic information, not even private photos, messages etc.
@@ntPingu shut up

This was not just celeb but also normal people who nobody cares about like that teacher who accessed his sister in law's account.
We don't have any right regardless of if they are famous or not.
The question rather is, would there be as much investigation and/or action from the government or media be if it were not celebrities, but rather normal people?
Seeing that the persons in question were already trading in a lot of images of a lot more people long before this happened shows that the answer would probably be not.
So IMO the public`s reaction of being indifferent is fair, as they would not get the same preferential treatment (or rather not treated at all).
What I find more damaging and more attention should be giving to the lack of knowledge being spread by the media and the government on steps how to prevent this from happening to you.

It all falls back on the parents. Parents need to teach their boys to respect a girls boundaries and not pressure them to do anything they’re not comfortable with. And parents need to teach their daughters about trust and not succumbing to pressure from their bfs or friends, and not pressure other girls or female friends to do things they’re not comfortable with.
Look at the rape kit backlog in this country. Agencies can’t even take rape seriously enough to test evidence and put away rapists. Protecting teens and women from getting hacked is way low on the totem pole of importance.

What kind of shitty security does apple have if it doesn't detect the same IP accessing so many different accounts to at least flag it as suspicious?
Regardless if the account owner got phished, these are major flaws in preventive security
It probably wasn't even checked, it was just stored info, then when they started digging someone though "let's check ip duplicates".
Now it's probably monitored.
because this still won’t help, people will start using a proxy to change the IP address
IT here. Sadly IP based security is not great. Many user use VPN when they connect from untrustworthy network (as they should). As a result, on the server side, you receive the ip of one of the vpn proxy. As a result, it is not uncommon to have many ip for one account, or many account for one ip.
@@DNX3M of course, it's the endless race between security and hackers. When this happened nobody cared about hiding ip and now tracking ip (as a security measure) is pointless.
I mean, the only reason you still think of Apple as a premium despite their incredibly highly priced products is the security protection they always bragged about, but now they suck in it 🤷

I can't imagine being a celebrity. I wouldn't survive. I learned by getting DDOS'd by some other players in a game around the same time this happened that the best defense against cyber attacks is to just not be a target.

Exactly! lol.
Why a ""celebrity"" have nudes on her phone someone has to tell them they cant live like normal people
As an aside, I've thought for a while that those standard recovery questions are hopelessly out of date. Birthdays and pets are all over social media. If you and your family are on facebook, anyone on your friends list could discern your mother's maiden name. The 'rap name' meme is literally your first pet and the street you lived on.

it's just weird 😂,,,
Your documentaries are amazing! I’ve only watched two and I’m blown away by the fact you upload documentaries almost weekly. Your channel should have 1 million plus subscribers. Keep up the great work
Why the celebrities shoot their nude picture? It's uncommon in other parts of the world.
Makes me laugh that the women on the talk show are all laughing and clapping about it, but it's of course toxic masculinity that probably gets blamed.
If you take pictures of yourself in the nude or record yourself doing anything, and you think it’s all secure “especially if you’re famous” you’re mistaken!
what do we learn, people dont know how to protect their stuff
That's the thing, you can't hide anything these days especially online
you don't have multiple terminally online weirdos desparately trying to see you naked
that goes both way tbh, the celebrity and the hackers lol
we need to teach people to protect stuff online and not save sensitive photos on icloud. and to teach greasy old men to stop violating random women online to get their willies wet.
Porbably ironically a good thing that AI has gotten so good at creating imagery lately. People probably will care less for compromising images because everybody knows it's impossible to tell if anything is real anymore. And celebs can always say it's all fake anyway.
I can understand frustration of actress like Jennifer Lawrence, what she said in audio clip,

@@keatonwastaken Hating one's body does not seem correlated to making photos; from my point of view, arguing logically, for context. I guess that if you like to look at your body, having photos of yourself is normal? Maybe that's a girl's thing, or a normal thing among most people, that my recluse self never found out. Since I have very few points of reference; I guess there are a few reasons why anyone would take such photos... I'll not argue about that. Still, entrusting that to the cloud... It's like you expected nothing will happen when you literarily beam a broadcast of your data to the whole globe... Okay, it's apple's fault (they really never cared until you make it their problem)... But people really should not carelessly handle sensitive data like that. I guess they lack the awareness, since not everyone is a cryptography and cybersecurity "expert". My "over-"reaction might be attributed to hearing about such news the first time, and also the fact that I find it very strange to engage in the activity of photographing one's naked body and uploading it into someone else's computer. Don't you agree that, from my point of view, this is worth lifting an eyebrow and saying "what the ****?"? I thought women with "status" would have the modesty of not doing such a thing... unless they are filming ****.
If you're trying to say celebrities are also normal people then everyone's leaks should be taken as seriously as the likes of Taylor Swift.
