- Hello everyone!
This is a cover version of ‘Worship the digital Age' by Whitechapel.
I really dig their sound and “in your face” songs and I think Ben Harclerode was just a great enrichment for the band.
I didn’t spend too much time on learning this song, so it’s not really a note-for-note cover, but still pretty close to the original. I tracked this song two times: the first version right after I did a Nile and Cattle Decapitation song (which I will release later) and the second version the day after and you can tell by the fact that I’m wearing something different, that I chose the second version. I’ve never heard that clear, how big the differences can be in terms of your dais condition. But I guess that’s just normal…
Very special thanks to my buddies Bartol and Reins from bazn sounds & records, Sebastian from DreamCatch Audio!!!
I also want to thank Mark from Pedaltrigger and Fabian, Hendrick, Dieter (and everyone who's involved) from Murat Diril Cymbals for always supporting me the best possible way - THANK YOU!
If you want to get in contact:

Another special thanks goes out to the local Arts- and Music-School in my hometown (Deutschlandsberg) where I recorded everything. It’s actually the concert hall where I had my first “concerts” as a young student and so it just felt great to come back after more than 15 years.
As a kid I never understood how important the environment you’re drumming in is for your wellbeing and of course for your sound. And this big wooden room, whit all its warmth just feels and sounds absolutely incredible!
Which leads to the next point:
Except for the bass drum and (not even half) of the snare drum, all the drum sounds are natural and as pure as possible. We spend a lot of time to set everything up. I also switched sticks - from regular 5a to 3a to get more power, but not by necessarily swinging the stick higher or hitting any harder but because of the shape of the stick.
For the bass I used a standard sample from the Steven Slate foundry and for the snare I mixed signals (about two thirds natural sound with eq, comp and just a little verb; and one third is again a standard snare from the Steven Slate foundry. I had to pitch the sound of the sample, so it would match my real snare and it’s just for the attack during all the blast beats.)
Furthermore I used
Dixon MBS shells (2x22", 8", 10", 12", 13", 16", 18")
p.d.p. Limited Edition 20ply Snare with Die Cast Hoops (14"x8")
Axis A Longboards
Roland SPD-S for triggering (bass drums)
And Murat Diril Cymbals:
20" t(h)rash crash with 6” renaissance splash on top
18" blast china
14" blast china
20” rock mega bell ride
14" custom arena hi hat
9" mini hats (renaissance splash bottom, luminous splash top)
7" & 8" renaissance splash
17" fast crash
16 speckled crash
18" fast crash
10" stack
18" rock china
19" rock china
22" rock mega bell ride
11" black sea hi hat
12" black sea trash hats
21" custom crash/ride

I'm thinking Mr. Diepold is one of my favorite drummers. He makes ridiculously fast and accurate look casual. amazing.
Ninja Flips John Bonham Sick of these speed demons
+Ninja Flips Also barely triggered, the kit sounds natural and the blast beats on the snare and double bass blend in perfectly, not overdone at all. True Artist here.
+Titouan Paitier You do know that trigger sounds/samples can be anything, right? The samples he's using could very well be of his own bass drum.
***** Yes, I do. I just really like the natural sound of his kit, so many triggers are shit nowadays. That was the point I was trying to make.
Born to blast.
I find it so unbelievable that you can play such a huge set, yet every single stroke is purposeful and accurate. It's nice to see a massive kit player not going over the top and deviating from the original
the power of samples
After 30+ years of drumming myself...I am COMPLETELY AWESTRUCK in how you've attacked this song with such a relaxing state but with so much strength...WOWWWWW!!!! Sooooooo freaking good!
...and btw...your setup is KILLER! Ground sound quality in the entire kit!
I was thinking the same thing. He is so relaxed it's crazy!!!!
Its a little overkill with how many cymbals he had, you really only need 2 chinas one on each side 2 or 3 crash, a splash, bell and ride and hats.
Scotty Weißmüller one can not have too many cymbals
Yes insane stamine
Why aren't you featured on Sickdrummer yet??
Am i the only one who thinks im getting good then i come across people like this and just wanna quit? Lmfao.
+Noah claxton I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to sell, throw out or burn my drum set because I watched some video like this. Still... they sit in my basement... and I practice.
Same.
+Noah claxton Guys, this is just a grouping of techniques you guys arent fucking practicing!!!!
Get your single stroke speed up, practice your double bounce rolls. Flying fingers, isolating each limbs joints at a different section and work on stability and speed within the stroke. This is all endurance and stroke work, it has nothing to do with any complex techniques or any of that.
I discovered Death Metal-esque (esque to include all sub genres) when I was 14. Became obsessed, had already been playing drums to bands like TOOL, Korn, Zepplin, Dream Theatre for 11 years. Took me about 6 or 7 months to Get down all of TbDM's nocturnal, Vicer Exciser, albums like those. YOU ALL CAN DO THIS, JUST BY LEARNING AND BECOMING OBSSESSED WITH A FEW TECHNIQUES AND PATTERNS. Just need to know what to look for^^^.
+Ajax Dan bro Exactly
+The Pudge To Edit, This has lots to do with complex techniques. Don't know why I said it doesn't.
Damn brother, you never stop amazing me. After drumming 31 years myself you inspire me to reevaluate my playing and my techniques. Now I practice 6 hours a day, every day. It's the only way to improve. Thanks!!
Best Drummer on UA-cam...period...seen hundreds of maniacs on Drums, but this guy is the shit...on every level...and has by far the most beautiful bus stop
Super tight controlled drumming, awesome work! Especially love the staggered kicks in the blast section at 0:38 - 0:42.
Such a pain in the ass section to kick...He made it look easy, and trust me, it isn't
@@lefthook4878 When simultaneously blasting, I find the staggered double kick sections much easier than the extended flat-chat runs.
Ben Harclerode’s work on ‘OEW’ cements it as one of my all time favourite drumming albums. Brutally heavy, insanely fast, technically difficult and produced beautifully. Love that album and am still listening to it constantly 9yrs later.
Drums only version please. They sound magnificent!
Music store : How many crash do you want ?
David : Yes !!
haha wth so accurate
This is so sick!
Those cymbals are freaking awesome!!
it's refreshing to be able to listen to a drummer who can actually play
Almost 10 years later and I’m still watching this video. I love it
Let's not forget to give props to the original artist that created this incredible assault on our ears. Without them these amazing covers wouldn't be. You are a beast by the way. I haven't seen many drummers as talented as you.
Ben Harclerode. God tier drummer.
Edit : David also composes ridiculously technical, gobsmackingly good drum tracks himself.
That was too sick! That whole kit looks like a god sculpted it!
I know, his drumset was delicious!
Pigly_Jainda Squad Delicious is the right word.
My bad, did I offend you?
Pigly_Jainda Squad Not at all, I'm actually in complete agreement!
xD. My bad Sir or Ms OberrisOfficial.
His technique is perfect. Seriously, one of the very best drummer I've seen in my life. I would like to see him something else beside deat black, grincore etc... Like DT or some technical progressive bands.
Prog Lover well he is now the drummer for obscura
@@AFacemarkedbyFea Yes sir ! What a nice add tho Sebastian is a monster too ... Someone know why he left ? And where did he go.
@@melomandrumspassion3959 Steffen (guitar/band "owner") is a dick. That's known. And for some reason he kicks the crew after some time
@@AFacemarkedbyFea Remember me of Schuldiner and Mustaine.
Why? The stuff he is playing here is WAY more difficult than Dream Theater. lol
you and Alex Rudinger are in a league all of your own. You deserve nothing but the best dude. You've obviously worked your ass off to get where you are as a musician. Mucho Respect!!!
that cymbal work! i always come back to watch this drumset in action by this guy
Excellent!!
One of the most solid drum compositions I've seen!
You and Alex always do the most tasteful covers of Whitechapel!
holy fuck, that's a spaceship of a drum Kit.
seriously good. very tech fingers and feet. very neat setup and easy to get to toms. lovely kit. makes it look easy
Wow the coordination👏 amazing, loved watching you play this piece with ease😍
I want his main ride as my ringtone. That is one of the best sounding rides I've ever heard next to the Sabian HH powerbell. you sir are a fucking master.
Totally Agree..Even after your post 5 years ago.
I don't think I've ever said this to an musician before, but you're perfect.
I think I saw a third hand on 2:26
Videos like this give me something to strive towards and keep me practicing every day
This is perhaps the coolest/most badass looking drumkit I have ever seen. Subbed. Great stuff!
Love that kit, especially the snare.
I can bet that sounds even more incredible when you're standing right next to it.
That's one beautiful drum set. And the drums are on point. Bravo!
That kit is amazing. The operator is amazing-er. Holy damn!
i can't get over how amazing your ride cymbal sounds!
Wow... so clean and you make it look effortless
You make this look so God Damn easy, it's not fair. Very impressive.
great work and i'm so impress by the forest of cymbals who's surrounding you
and the sound of those is incredible
Dude! Sensational playing sir! Beautiful drum kit and cymbals. I really appreciated the details below. Keep up the great work! I'll be watching for ya.
David makes it look so easy and effortless!!! Super Human skills
Incredible talent aside, you helped me discover a band I had never really listened to. Thank you.
Infant Annihilator drum covers here ;) .. btw fucking awesome WC cover dude :)
Absolute perfection!
This kit is massive, I'd feel so overwhelmed on it, it's sick to see you actually use all of it, spot on drumming dude!
bro you're raw as hell bro! I can listen to you all day man! you're BA!
Everytime i see this video, i just keep thinking i need to practice alot lol. I watch this video alot. I have this video on one of my playlists. this is like one of my staple songs i listen to
Dude is flawless and seems to connect directly with the entire set.
I think you should do a video walkthrough of your kit, so we can hear how everything sounds without the music.
Awesome video, as always!
You really outdid yourself on this one. That was astonishing skill you just showcased.
That's something to play whitechapel that good, hey man you are one of a kind. Nice drum set
Outstanding. Very well played
I get goose bumps on this one!all 77 times ive watched it
I love how clean he is in his execution!!
Great job! Really enjoyed watching you play :)
AMAZING MIRACLE
holy shit, that was amazing, so tight, yet so effortless, deff earned yourself a sub sir.
Been waiting so long for a new cover but was worth it, Smashed it yet again!
You're beard is epic. x3
Awesome skills bro..A natural, born with it.
That drum set is more valuable than your life..
AttilatheThrilla YOUR life
10k + set
Mayhem 11x id say more like 20k+ bro. The cheapest Murat Diril cymbals are like 350 and all that hardware and shell package was already probably 10
Seems legit.
Todd Wilson except he gets all the cymbals for free cause they sponsor him.... but the 9 piece pearl masterworks, the 1000 dollar set of pedals he has, the drum rack, and the boom arms probably amounts to somewhere like 11 grand
Your kit sounds perfect dude.
How the fuck is this even possible?
Troy O'Brien practice.
Tam Sixx Yes but it looks unnaturally fast xD
Troy O'Brien lol i see your point. its crazy fast :)
Troy O'Brien well... it's a cover... meaning there is some guy you never seen that actually thought up and recorded those drums haha but i agree, seeing it is so much more IN YOUR FACE!!
Qukrapok that's a great point
I so wish there was a dry drums only track for this... SO good. How you play this and barely sweat is beyond me man.
Great cover as always. Greetings from Mexico!
Yes 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻💪 that was awesome 👏
Skills to pay the bills! I dig it!
That was insane dude ! I subscribe !
youre a machine! ive just watched your fleshgod apocalypses cover as well, sick!
another great video!!!! you have some skills man.
Those cymbals sound amazing. Gotta look into them for sure.
Unbelievable! I've been a drummer off and on whenever conditions permit. I've NEVER seen a human machine like you in my life, and I've seen a lot of sick drummers in my time as well. You rule bro!
Pretty damn sick, dude. Technique is tight AF. Nice job.
oh man! that was great!!!!
Sooooo sweet blastbeats!
Pure perfection
Gorgeous Kit

Beast Mode. Wow!!!
I need to see what Austin archey thinks about this cover…. I think this is every bit as 🤯🤯
me impresiona tambien la cantidad de ritmos que hace solo con los platillos, de los mejores bateros que se pueden ver en youtube, saludos a David si lo lee, respect !
