- Hello everyone!
This is a cover version of ‘Prometheus' by Septicflesh.
After I finished the Whitechapel cover I had some time left and because I was very impressed with the whole Titan album, I wanted to do something from it. So I sat down and learned/recorded Prometheus in about one hour. For the end section I didn’t want to copy every fill so I tried to improvise over that part. I did three versions and chose the most fluid one. I’m not really happy with it, but like I said, it all happened in about one hour…
Very special thanks to my buddies Bartol from bazn sounds & records, Sebastian form DreamCatch Audio!!!
I also want to thank Mark from Pedaltrigger and Fabian, Hendrick, Dieter (and everyone who's involved) from Murat Diril Cymbals for always supporting me the best possible way - THANK YOU!

Another special thanks goes out to the local Arts- and Music-School in my hometown (Deutschlandsberg) where I recorded everything. It’s actually the concert hall where I had my first “concerts” as a young student and so it just felt great to come back after more than 15 years. As a kid I never understood how important the environment you’re drumming in is for your wellbeing and of course for your sound. And this big wooden room, whit all its warmth just feels and sounds absolutely incredible!
Which leads to the next point:
Except for the bass drum and (not even half) of the snare drum, all the drum sounds are natural and as pure as possible. We spent a lot of time to set everything up. I also switched sticks - from regular 5a to 3a to get more power, but not by necessarily swinging the stick higher or hitting any harder but because of its shape.
For the bass I used a standard sample from the Steven Slate foundry and for the snare I mixed signals (about two thirds natural sound with eq, comp and just a little verb; and one third is again a standard snare from the Steven Slate foundry. I had to pitch the sound of the sample, so it would match my real snare and it’s just for the attack during all the blast beats.)
Furthermore I used
Dixon MBS shells (2x22", 8", 10", 12", 13", 16", 18")
p.d.p. Limited Edition 20ply Snare with Die Cast Hoops (14"x8")
Axis A Longboards
Roland SPD-S for triggering (bass drums)
And Murat Diril Cymbals:
20" t(h)rash crash with 6” renaissance splash on top
18" blast china
14" blast china
20” rock mega bell ride
14" custom arena hi hat
9" mini hats (renaissance splash bottom, luminous splash top)
7" & 8" renaissance splash
17" fast crash
16 speckled crash
18" fast crash
10" stack
18" rock china
19" rock china
22" rock mega bell ride
11" black sea hi hat
12" black sea trash hats
21" custom crash/ride

OMG time is going so fast, 8 years ago, and I am still admiring this cover...
Who you telling
This guy is so talented he even sweats better than most drummers
🤘🤘
I’m surprised he sweats lol.
DD is one of bests out , hands down
The best drummer to ever walk the planet imo ..and iv'e seen a lot of them live and mainly youtube
Does he sweat?
the sound of this Drumset is delicious
Michael Froschauer I was just thinkin the same thing. Can't even imagine how much that shit is worth
+Stefano Magaddino Each of those cymbals are probably $150-$400 a piece, the drums are custom so probably $1500 - $2500, the axis pedals are $680 and the rack seems to be a custom so probably close to $1000 for the mounts, all other mechanical hardware is probably close to $500 and the sound system, man I won't even guess on that shit. Where he is, they probably have a $100K sound system, but the mics, triggers, and drum module are most likely around $1000-$1200. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a $10k kit or more
QuorthonsInferno lil late. But I designed a custom kit with SJC just to see the price. Smaller than this. It was 2 floor Toms. Single rack. Single bass drum and a snare. Total was around $7,000
And its great looking too
@@quorthonsinferno5119 You've got absolutely no idea. Way off.
Titan was such a killer album, nice cover.
empire I agree, usually bands go downhill, I think Titan is best album of them
Love SEPTIC FLESH’s arrangements. They are brilliant song writers. David’s brilliance goes without saying.
I can't tell how many times I've watched this. The song is excellent, and you're playing on it is near flawless. I fucking love that snare sound. So fat and full of body.
watch it again bro
Absolutely amazing! I have watched this so many times and it still gives me goose bumps
Very refreshing to see a drummer of your caliber covering all these extreme metal songs. IMO you're making many of them sound (and look) way better than the originals. You seem to have the kind of powerful yet dynamic touch on the kit that many extreme metal drummers lack completely.
watch it again bro
This dude continues to impress the shit out of me! He is the only extreme metal drummer I've seen that can just blister the drums but still be musical. 4:39 is a perfect example.
So tasteful and powerful! He complements the orchestra so well!
I listen to all your cover before, during and after work. You and Nea Batera are my faves. Thank You.
This is just beautiful.
The precision...
Big round of applause for u David!!! Absolutely genial
David is one of the best drummers out there, deserves waaay more subscribers 🤘🤘
Watching this guys is mesmerizing. He really is a great drum player. Also, nice cover.
watch it again bro
Way to stay clean and maintain the power at all the high speeds. Solid recording David, looking forward to more. You're one of the truly dedicated extreme metal drummers out there and it shows.
Brilliant as always
Man! That snare! Sounds great!
The kit sound is one thing, but when you have playing this good that sound goes to the next level! 🤘🏼
My favourite with Dogma on this album.
You totally nailed it man, awesome cover !
The bell on those ride cymbals make me drool. I need those rides 🤤🤤

God damn this is perfect and such a amazing song too
Your set is very very beautifull!
Pity i can't like this twice. The final part is absolutely amazing. I'm waiting for Your material and tour, would love to see You playing live.

Nailed as usual, brilliant!
Im glad you chose heavier sticks! Great job on the fills at the end!

Dude... You are amazing!!!!
Nothing but good things to say man! I have severe kit envy, you're technique is impeccable and your floor toms sound huge! Good job man, keep it up. 1 sub from me.

Blew all the money on (KickAss) Cymbals, got no money left for the AC.
Awesome cover!
Its the long sleeves. I can sweat just putting them on. AC doesnt help at that point
One of the best covers ever! Dude... I see 15 def people here.
probably one of his less extreme covers, and by far his most watched vid?
thanks, fucking rap play.
I'm bringing all the people from 8 years ago back to this video
Hey bro I'm a fellow percussionist and great work on that kit it's amazing how heavy and awesome you are your ready for the musical war and your the shit
Thats great!!
Bravo 👏
Incredible cover as always! Cool to see you doing some slower stuff too! :)
Absolutely love that fill at 5:30 lml
+TheMathMog93 Oh, and any chance you could be convinced to do "Order of Dracul"? That one is incredible drum-wise!
Please do a cover of Second Skin from Dying Foetus!
Great, Great, Great!!!
LOVE IT!!!!
watch it again bro
Epic is the Word!
dude...that was fuckin BADASS
Zajebisty koles , Super!!!
some tasty fills there for a death metal song, well done
what an epic song
Can I please have that 21" crash/ride? Murat Diril make the most beautiful cymbals anyway, but that 21" crash on your right side is the best sounding cymbal I've ever heard.
you might have to check / ask what kind of mic / techniques he used to record it too brother ;) but it's true it sounds awesome ^^
EVEN NEIL PEART WOULD BE LIKE DAMN!!!!...LOL
Great cover!!! Amazing drumset and sound!! What rack you use?
i'm enjoyed when you play with all cymbals
Very tasteful drumming! Holy shit at that kit though!
Офигителен!!!
sick
Can you do Fleshgod Apocalypse - The Fool? :D
Emil Mijatov sapeeeee
dude i cant get focused on job ... u drumming it's just a perfection OoO
you rule !!!
Greetings from Hellas.
I was certain that first blast section was a gravity blast. I'm mind blown at him being able to achieve that speed with a regular blast
It sounds a little faster because he's doubleing the blast speed with his feet on the kicks (8th note blast, 16th note kicks)
Not to say the blast isn't fast though, it is.
@@emilh5477 Ah, that makes sense. Yeah, it's the double bass kicks that are making it sound like a gravity blast.
U'r really super fuckin good, dude. Nothing else to say.
Keep it up!
two thumbs up!
This music is not for me, but i came for this awesome cymbal sound! I wish Czech Republic has (more) stores with Murat Diril cymbals, oh god they sounds really nice.
Holy shit!
Nah you ain't sweating man lol killer cover as always.
+Chimichanga Guy That's the way his shirt is painted! Right? o0 haha!
Not sure why a drummer would wear a long sleeve shirt oitside of waking up in the cold and warming up the body for 2 minutes
NOT REALLY HAPPY WITH IT!?!?!?!?!? i like this version better than the actual album song version
Nah
I love the sound of this snare OMg.. what are the spec?
please do a cover for Damaged 'token remedies research'... any track would be great. keep up the good work
That was sweaty
People who don’t know that kind of drumming can’t see or hear how good this guy plays….
Alright I gotta go to bed before I stay up until 4am watching this second coming of god drum
Clean! :o
David Diepold is inhuman. Extreme artistry
watch it again bro
Great drumming David. What snare is that?
which makes these cymbals? never heard a sound as good as these cymbals
what the fuck to say man?you are an awesome drummer!congrats!
Love your work man! Lets see a The Black Dahlia Murder - Carbonized in Cruciform Cover! If you can do Francesco Paoli you can do Shannon Lucas! Awesome Videos though man.
HI from GREECE!! AWESOME!!! CONGRATULATION!!
WHAT DRUM PEDAL DO YOU USE?
Those are axis pedals
+Emil Mijatov no, they are trick bigfoots
+FutileExistence It says they are Axis in the description.
I coulda sworn they were Trick haha, you're right. Probably saw this in my phone when I said that
And you can see those axis signs on footboard too mate. Doesn't matter anyway, this guy kills the song. :-D
Still, after watching this 20X..... amazed. The ending is crazy epic. So what band does David play in? Must follow.
Not sure but i think a foud. He is in Amon Din and Give em blood
Cognizance, they just dropped a new EP, check it!
they recorded this album in Poland! hertz studio. same, like Vader does, and many other me thinks. nice music.
that snare!
This is some serious percussion
those cymbals tho o_o
The part right at 1:38 where the bass drum goes from (I’m not good at music theory lingo) the quicker subdivisions down to what I think sounds like a triplet subdivision.
That part is fooookin sick.
Tasteful as fuck.
Oh and a big fuck you to Diepold for learning this tune in an hour and saying he is unhappy with this cover.
I didn’t realize the end part was full of improvised fills and such.
A+ my dude
