IK it's irrelevant, but I love 3:31 lots of people have been killed, this thing is practically the embodiment of misery, yet, the camera looks down on it. It's basically the only shot that looks down/up on something, yet, it's looking down at this monstrosity. And, like, although usually angles from down are used to put something as powerful, so, it would be more intuitive to do so, it feels way more impacting like this, because everything that happens during the animatic is passive's misery and this, this is the lower a character can go - death. IDK if I'm only that amazed because I just got into studying angle, but I do know that this is an absolute chief kiss and I love it.
This particular frame always kind of reminds me of that nightmare. Once he "killed" his only family (Dream and Nim), he was presumably left in a desolate world by himself for an amount of time, and I can't imagine when he finally got out it was any better. When Nightmare became corrupted, he was still a child. From 7 to 18, he was a kid-a corrupted and hate-filled kid, but still a kid. ( Plus, on a not-so-serious note, imagining a Nightmare with little goop tendrils that he couldn't completely control yet, licking the corruption to see what it tastes like, and doing a bunch of weird stuff that kids do is adorable and kinda sad.)

He never had anybody to guide him in any way, shape of form, even doing as much as limiting him. I do think that an eldritch nightmare, as old as it might be, would probably still retain some behaviours deemed "childish", maybe in something like chidren are picky eaters (though that would probably need some abstraction, since yknow) or don't like to bathe or take small things that they managed to avoid and blow them up into absolute war. I even picture a bit of his lack of empathy as that. it's a really interesting interpretation to explore

I kinda wonder why nightmare was picked on considering he was protecting the dark apples from those whom might use them for evil and also keeping people from being corrupted by him… but dream was keeping people from the ‘good’ apples…it just kinda seems like dream was protecting the apples from the people where as nightmare was protecting the people from the apples, so why didn’t they like him? Was it just because of his name? Or because he was associated with darkness? Or did they not understand how the whole guardian of the tree thing worked and just assumed he was bad because he was guarding evil, without realizing he was guarding evil from evil, and keeping the apples from corrupting people?
Well... Its more like assuming Devil is bad, and he cause of all evil thing. Even though human do that by themselves... And they assume : "And since they are bad it's ok do bad things to them" And since Nightmare doesn't want to worried Dream, he do not tell him. And since Villager think Dream doesn't mind because he still play together, they think it's right thing...

Ok I just read some comments, and I really like the observation by Flowerflour. About the specific angles used in this animatic ( I cant remeber how to tag the person or time sorry. Corrupted looks up in victory, kind of as if he's looking for someone stronger, since the villagers used to be stronger than him he was forced to look up at them - and know they've switched places. There's also the point made by Flowerflour that we look down at him a bit, since he's a strong being. I would also, like to thanks the artist for 1 getting me back into art and the undertale fandom, as well as introducing me to this song. I loved watching this gorgeous animatic.
