He did say that he learned many styles of dance to make his yoyo performance better. He really put a 100% of what he has learned to good use like the theatrical movements, the body flexibility, and balance.
To those who's like: "Meh, seen better" or "He sucks". Take into consideration that he's matching the techniques used here to sync with the BGM. It's a performance or art for inspiration and ideas. Not a show-off talent of who can do jaw-dropping tricks. When you can mix your line of work with other arts, you create something that can be motivational/inspiring and be considered as "beautiful" work or "level of awesomeness".
Inner monolouge: “I have to give it all I GOT! I used to be an untalented loser, but that all changed when I found my passion, my yo-yos. I have to give this my all, this is what my life has lead to, I’ve never felt as alive as today, so please, lend me your power….”
As a performance that was brilliant! People need to keep in mind that while some of the tricks may not have seemed all that difficult, to incorporate all those moves into a routine to fit with the music and then pull them all off without fail takes a huge amount of practice and concentration. While you may have seen better tricks elsewhere, they were probably done one at time and not up on stage in front of many people. If he's been the world champion twice he probably has much more difficult tricks that probably didn't fit into the brilliant Japanese samurai performance. I just hope one day I can find something that I can be that passionate about, mad respect to this man who went as far as learning another language just to perform and bring his talent to another country.
Doing this by yourself and doing this on a stage in-front of thousands of people when you know you are being filmed are two completely different levels.
