Awesome firearm! Great overview… And for those wondering if 9mm equal to or superior to 357 Sig? Let’s think about that for ourselves for just a moment, shall we? I get it that some people pick a side and feel the need to defend their choice, but not to the extent of regurgitating pure nonsense that they themselves were misinformed on. Some ammo manufacturers actually have loads that even surpasses the ballistics of traditional 357 magnum performance. Underwood's 357 SIG Gold Dot for example. Also because it’s a bottleneck cartridge it has the added benefit of feeding more reliably than other pistol rounds. It’s flat shooting and will punch through auto glass like it was butter. It’s literally a 9mm projectile “except” because it’s 200-300 fps faster it penetrates most barriers as well as 10mm yet doesn’t over penetrate flesh, which is welcomed to aid in avoiding collateral damage. It has a flatter trajectory that in turn makes it more accurate and potent at distance. Though the penetration is no greater than 9mm in flesh, the cavity damage is much more devastating making it more likely to stop a threat with less shots. Underwood has a 357 Sig 65g Xtreme Penetrator round that exceeds 2250+ fps out of just a 6” barrel. I don’t know of any other semiautomatic pistol caliber that has rounds capable of such velocities from a handgun. It goes straight through a 3A panel even. At those velocities normally temporary cavities tear. One of the most attractive benefits of owning a 357 Sig is the ability to convert the firearm to 40 S&W & 9mm with nothing more than a simple barrel swap. You also normally can do a 357 Sig or 9mm conversion if you own a 40 S&W firearm as well. That means you can train on whatever platform you’re most comfortable with and whatever ammo is the most affordable, and no it isn’t always 9mm. That means that you are less hindered by ammo shortages… and when you’re done training simply swap out the barrel and ammo back to 357SIG and you’re all set. Sadly on a native 9mm firearm you don’t have any option to do a conversion. I never understood what’s not to like about 357 SIG… well other than ammunition availability and cost being the only negatives I guess, but it is the better round. Keep in mind that when you compare 9mm +P or +P+ to try to achieve 357 Sig performance, 357 Sig is actually cheaper than 9mm. When I searched +P+ to get as close to 357 Sig performance as possible, it was more expensive than a standard 357 Sig JHP round. 9mm +P+ is still only 1300 fps in 124 grain. That’s 50 fps slower than the lowest end 125 grain Sig round at 1350 fps and we’re comparing +P+ 9mm ammo here. Yet the bare minimum 357 Sig performance isn’t even achievable and this is usually attempted in a platform that isn’t even recommended for +P+ or even +P at times. I say it’s best to swap to a 9mm conversion barrel when training and back to 357 Sig right before you’re all done to finish up with 357 to cut that expense down. In most cases the recoil of any superior round can be overcome with training. I do understand that some people are recoil sensitive and are more comfortable with 9mm or other lower recoiling rounds. I understand some just prefer the thought of higher capacity. I totally understand your decisions. But let’s not bash any superior round because you prematurely decided on a specific one. There’s nothing wrong with 9mm it’s awesome, but let’s be clear… it isn’t equal to 357 Sig and the few extra rounds it’s capable of holding in a magazine over 357 Sig definitely doesn’t make it the superior choice. In time I expect 357 Sig to make the comeback that 10mm has made in recent years… For myself these 357 Sig advantages make 9mm less desirable. How about for you?
They said the same thing about the 40 cal it's not going anywhere stoeger just came out with a 40 cal I'm my opinion 357sig and 40 cal are superior to the 9mm 😎
I really like my 33 ,I also have the 9mm and the 40 baby glock. The 33 is the last one I got a hold of and was impressed on how well mine shoots too.. I don't know if it the caliber that's inherently accurate or it's me just shooting better, but it out shoots the 9 and 40 for me . I carry it a lot and also it is a good woods gun too . In case you run in to a wild hog ,coyote, couger small bear. ,not a grizzly gun by no means ,if in grizzly County carry somthing else. But the 357 sig is a hard hitter and fast round ,I trust it in my neck of the woods . Yes ammo is expensive and hard to find nowadays. I miss the days you go out and shoot 100 rounds every weekend and wouldn't break the bank , last box of 357 sig ammo I bought was winchester white box of 50 hp cost me 55 bucks and had to hunt hard to find them. Plinking is a thing of the past nowdays ,unless you can find and afford 3 to 400 bucks a weekend to play, not me.. Good caliber and a good shooter ...
Oh, also, get some night sights. Those really are a must for a defensive EDC. You can leave everything else stock if you want, but night sights are a must have. Also, carry a flashlight 🔦 😂
is the glock 33 - 357 sig also suitable for defending the forest against game - dog, wolf, wild boar, bear? thank you for your opinion - i don't want a 44 magnnum caliber - it's too big and heavy
If I were you I would look to the .10mm for that. Its an excellent heaver round compared to the .357 Sig. There are several smaller .10 mm pistols such as the Springfield Armory Xdm compact elite. or the Glock m29. See my review of the .10mm Xdm. Don't get me wrong, I love my glock 33 for my EDC around town and it will put down pretty much everything ill encounter in and about town, but if I'm going hiking in bear county my .10mm is my choice as a carry gun.
Underwood makes hunting and medium game ammo specifically for .357 Sig. Not saying it is the best choice for defense against game & wildlife, but it can be used for that purpose. I agree with the big man though. 10mm glocks are the best for that purpose. 357 Sig is second rank for that.
@@farmersneed thank you for answer. I don't think 10 mm has a strong penetration like 357 sig. For example, in a bear, a 357 sig projectile would penetrate the body better than 10 mm. But I'm not sure :-)
Because Gen 4s are not CA-compliant (mag disconnect, etc). The only reason Gen 3s and older are "approved" is because they existed at the time that law was passed (2001) and were grandfathered in. At least thats what I heard. Thank God im in a Red state and don't have to worry about that sort of thing.
Just got my Glock 32 yesterday. I put 100 rounds through it and I must say its a shooter. I have the 31 & 33 out of the 3 if I could just owe one it would be the 31
The GLOCK 31 can be concealed with a good holster and coat 🧥, the high ride [rise] belt adapter for safariland holsters with a good retention and double magazine pouch for CCW God Bless America 🇺🇲 Long Live The Republic
@@spurgeondotson4998 I like them both. The 33 is more concealable during the summer the 32 has less of a snap to it. I think I shoot the 32 just a little bit more accurate of course 3 2 holds more rounds and both will take all of the the different size mags in 357 but I like them both
Subcompact.45’s have horrible ballistics ... may as well just carry FMJ in that configuration... 4 inch is the minimum for .45 and even then bullet performance is spotty even with some of the best ammo available... just my personal experience..
Soft tissue and bone 🍗🦴 doesn't know the difference, most CCW encounters are 5-10 feet, the short barrel is negligible on subcompacts, stay safe and enjoy the freedom to protect yourselves God Bless America 🇺🇲 Long Live The Republic
Get some G32 or G23 mags and put some Xgrip sleeves on them. I’m running that in my G27. I also have .357 sig bbl for my G23 & 27. .357 sig rounds run fine in .40 mags. But if you don’t run any .40, I guess it doesn’t matter. 😂

The 357 Sig is what the other calibers want to be. I would rather hunt for 357 Sig ammo than stumble over cases of 9mm in gun stores.

If the box of ammo is $50 it's worth the extra money, life doesn't have a price on it
