- Headlamp failure - Service required | Headlight level sensor Volvo XC70 |
This must be a quite common failure in Volvos. I had mine failure message, had codes read and switched the rear level sensor. And now the xenon lights are working like they should. I'm not a mechanic but I managed to fix it. ;)

Ajovalovika vaatii huollon? When has a fault started to demand a service ha ha ha ha, well, ei taalla Filippineilla olla niin tarkkoja noista viosta. Oma 2005 XC90 2.5T tulee olemaan PHRX 2025 kauden ajokki, viela tama kausi ajetaan 525i Bemarilla. Thanks for Your videos, always pleasure to watch them. 🥰
great video Thank you, hope mine is as easy to repair too!!
Probably same shit ahead of me. Thanks for the video 👍
It might be quite common...🤔 I hope you can fix yours.👍
I think this is the same part as used on the Mk4 Ford Mondeo, some Galaxy and S-Max models, the part number is the same. My XC70 passed the UK MOT but the warning lamp came on after the car drove off the ramp.
I get this message just when driving over speed bumps for 3 sec.
Changed the sensor but the fault stayed. At a bit of a loss now over what could be wrong.
Hi. Thanks for the really clear video. I have the same error code but when I contacted the parts supplier they asked me if it was right or left sensor. The error code gives no indication of left or right. How did you know which side to replace?
In this 2011 Volvo has only one sensor in back.
are your lights bendy lights that steer when you go around corner .. mine stopped working and when I drive in the dark now the lights seem to be pointing to the ground, I have to drive on full beam just to see 👀
My lights just go up and down. Sounds interesting... Is there any error codes?
When the sensors are not giving proper values or both front and rear level sensors are bad, lights go automatically into base position aiming completely down right ahead of car...it's because the control unit doesn't know what is the current height of the car, so it will turn light beam down in order not to blind oncoming traffic ;)..I have bending lights as well (ABL) with same issue, Vida shows faulty level sensor in front.
@@martinv.178 That's interesting. My 2012 XC60 lights are also permanently down but theres no fault or error code showing. Maybe as you said all the sensors are bad. Unfortunately the service centres advice has been to replace both the headlight units (and not the sensors).
Mine has this message, but lights are levelling up, but active bending function is not working !!
Is this the same fix !!
@@hungryboy424 Error codes should give you the answer. Codes helped me to locate the problem.
