    Thank you guys for this perfect description. I like to add a short hint, that might help... Those two sticks that hold the headlights in position should be greased a bit to prevent corrosion. Might be useful in countries where they salt the roads in wintertime. ;-) AND IMPORTANT: NEVER EVER TOUCH THE BULBS!

    Good video as always! Just remember that when you turn on the lights for the first time they have to be on for a minimum of 3 minutes so they last longer.

    Very good video,it took me a while to disconnect the block connector but that was me being careful. A couple of points about the bulbs. I went to the local NAPA motor factor and was charged £41 for one bulb which was own brand.On the internet well reviewed pattern parts are less for two bulbs.Second point if your plastic headlamp lenses are getting misty you may wish to refurb them with the headlamps out

    Hi, thanks for this great video. Now I will confidently replace my lamps. However I still have one doubt. I am about to order the same lamp model from Philips but when I read the spec in their Web site they indicate that it can be used both for high and low beams; does this mean that this is a bi-xenon lamp? My XC70 has a separate H7 halogen lamp for high beam, so can I still use this model from Philips just for the low beam or will I get some kind or error from the centralite?

    • @volvosweden

      Can’t answer . Don’t know

    • @DanielMartinez-bv8fr
      @DanielMartinez-bv8fr 7 місяців тому

      Found out yesterday that the halogen lamp comes on at the same time that the xenon lamp becomes more intense when activating the high beam. So this reassures what I read in the net that the xenon light is permanently on high beam with part of the beam being mechanically shaded inside the headlight casing. When the lever is pulled in the cockpit this activates the halogen lamp and the Mechanical barrier in front of the xenon bulb moves away to allow more light out.
      This would explain why the new lamp box indicates valid for both low and high beams. I am replacing the lamps tomorrow so will confirm then.

    • @marcusjosefsson4998
      @marcusjosefsson4998 4 роки тому +3

      Well, it's not necessary but recommended. Recommendation is based mainly on two factors:
      1) Bulbs usually have roughly the same lifespan. If one is done for, chances are the other will break pretty soon too.
      2) Xenon/HID-bulbs slightly changes color when nearing the end of their lifespan. The light gets weaker and develops a more reddish tint the older the bulb gets, thus the light turns purple/pink. A phenomenon known as "pink eye" that'll have a negative affects on light output.
      But besides from that there's no reason for changing a perfectly good xenon bulb. If you're satisfied with the good one, keep it. But inspect the light first, if you've got pink eye you should change it.

      @@volvosweden Suppose you don't have lot's of scrap yards/breaker yards with heaps of Volvo's in Canada? Here in Sweden you can make some bargain deals from time to time, parts are plentyful here.
      I've made some upgrades on my '11 V70 R-Design with cheap used (but in extremely good shape) parts from scrap yards. I'm really not that into making videos of my projects, but perhaps I should be? Have done some really nice, and cheap, upgrades:
      2015 illuminated shifter, with some extra mods. Swapped out the entire shifter assembly. Also replaced the leather part of the gear knob to one with perforated leather, just to keep the R-Design sporty style. Also swapped the shifter gaiter/boot to one with white stitching, it fits my black/white R-Design seats perfectly.
      Then I found a complete armrest console on my go-to scrap yard. It's the newer one with LED-ligts in the cupholder. It also had the aluminum rolling cover over the cupholders. Really nice with the original R-Design aluminum trim panels!
      I also swapped out the armrest cover lid, but this came from an S80 Executive so it had the white stitching too. Also installed the LED-ligts just above the inside door handles, also from the S80 Executive.
      To complete the interior I swapped the original four spoke R-Design steering wheel for a three spoke steering wheel from an XC60 R-Design. With, you guessed it, white stitching.
      I've done some other mods too, like replacing the front fog lights with XC70 LED DRL's, tail light module etc.

      Без разбора фары ее не поменять. Это при условии что у меня светодиодный габарит с завода. На более ранних версиях лампочка меняется без разбора фары. Там стоит простая лампочка накаливания
