Hi, thanks for this great video. Now I will confidently replace my lamps. However I still have one doubt. I am about to order the same lamp model from Philips but when I read the spec in their Web site they indicate that it can be used both for high and low beams; does this mean that this is a bi-xenon lamp? My XC70 has a separate H7 halogen lamp for high beam, so can I still use this model from Philips just for the low beam or will I get some kind or error from the centralite?
Found out yesterday that the halogen lamp comes on at the same time that the xenon lamp becomes more intense when activating the high beam. So this reassures what I read in the net that the xenon light is permanently on high beam with part of the beam being mechanically shaded inside the headlight casing. When the lever is pulled in the cockpit this activates the halogen lamp and the Mechanical barrier in front of the xenon bulb moves away to allow more light out. This would explain why the new lamp box indicates valid for both low and high beams. I am replacing the lamps tomorrow so will confirm then.
The easiest headlight bulb change ever kind of lol the fact Volvo did that to remove the entire assembly is wild and crazy who else is doing that good on Volvo they should have kept doing this maybe others manufacturers would have followed instead of making it so hard like taking off fender liner or a wheel or a bumper.

when replacing one of these Ive read that you should replace in pairs...is this true or just an angle at selling more bulbs? asking as one of mine has just gone down & dont want to buy a pair if not really needed
Well, it's not necessary but recommended. Recommendation is based mainly on two factors: 1) Bulbs usually have roughly the same lifespan. If one is done for, chances are the other will break pretty soon too. 2) Xenon/HID-bulbs slightly changes color when nearing the end of their lifespan. The light gets weaker and develops a more reddish tint the older the bulb gets, thus the light turns purple/pink. A phenomenon known as "pink eye" that'll have a negative affects on light output. But besides from that there's no reason for changing a perfectly good xenon bulb. If you're satisfied with the good one, keep it. But inspect the light first, if you've got pink eye you should change it.
Hello, Please can you tell me the part number on the Volvo xc70? It is a front mask with radar and has a six-angle pattern. Thank you very much J. Lukacovic
The later model years have clear sidemarkers, this car is from 2015 so it probably had them from the factory, can't imagine someone buying new headlights just for the clear sidemarker.
No, only a system which automatically turns off the high beams when it sees another car was available. There was also an option called active bending lights (ABL) which turns the headlights along with the steering wheel but i'm not sure if that was offered in north america.
Thanks again for another great video! I changed all position lights as well to LED but my volvo keeps giving me the position light error message. All lights work, any clue how to eliminate the error message?
I'm sure it's way too late now but for anyone else: the position lights are usually the "side marker" lights found in the front / rear bumper at the fender. You might not even notice it's a light, you might think it's just a reflector.
Over time (years) they slowly get less and less bright. I replaced the xenon bulbs in my parents' car because they got very dim and were pretty useless. You could think about changing them when they are getting older and you notice the low light output or when they actually break like described in the other replies.
