    On some models you can also set the headlights to a neutral position, which gets over the need to put beam benders on for travel on the continent. On mine, in this setting it is also a UK MOT pass, so no need to constantly have to change it over between the UK and the EU.

    Good day. Recently got a 2003 xc90. I switch it to zero(off) but the headlight still turned ON. Is this normal?

    When I drive from Sweden to UK in my 2016 XC70 I have to switch the angle of the headlight beam so as not to blind uk drivers. I simply go into the head unit of the lights and there is a small switch to adjust for uk usage. Easy job and don’t need to stick anything on the headlights. 😎

      2 questions:
      Why would it be a different angle in UK as opposed to other countries?
      And you know there is always a switch inside that lets you regulate the angle right? Or do you mean something else?

      @@stefancgxz7799 if you were driving a UK car in the EU the angle of the light would blind oncoming cars as it was ment to highlight pedestrians sides. Same vice-versa.. so when I drive my EU car in the UK i adjust the lamps to act like they were uk headlights so it doesn’t blind the oncoming traffic. Some modern cars might not need adjusting as it is a completely flat beam.

      @@stefancgxz7799 the UK drive on the left hand side of the road and europe (sweden) drive on the right hand side of the road. Headlights are made to light up the side of the road where there are no oncoming cars so in the UK, the left headlight will be aimed slightly higher than the right one which is aimed at oncoming traffic. It will be the opposite for cars that drive on the opposite side of the road.

    The xenon head lights don't have manual adjusting headlights. And if you got a lefthand drive car in the settings you can choose temporarily change the lights to meet the UK requirements. And the same if you got a righthand drive

    I have a v70 2010 left hand Volvo, as I bought it over when I moved back to the UK. I placed stickers on the lamps to comply with UK laws. However are you saying that I can adjust my lamps so to comply with UK laws and can then remove the stickers?

    I wish my 2005 S60 had benefitted from those metal retaining stalks in the headlights! Bulbs were a pain to change with sausage fingers. It was an "air box out job" on the passenger side

    My XC60 2010 has the same switches as your car and the 0 position used to function the same as yours but when my car was serviced by Volvo and the software was up dated many years ago the 0 position now functions the same as other position so the 0 position is obsolete. .

    On the top of the light "box" there are 2 "buttons". 1 marked "L-R" and the other "Up-Down." Are they for adjusting the horizontal and the vertical beam throw and if so, what tool is required? ( Info from my 2016 V40 ,with HID Main Beam and H7 Bulb Hi Beam.)

    • @drivelife.channel
      @drivelife.channel  2 роки тому +1

    • @Bellakelpie
      @Bellakelpie 2 роки тому

      @@drivelife.channel Thank you. 🤩 It is the height adjustment I am looking for. The Hi-Beam lights on my car throw far too low. My local Volvo Dealer told me they were non adjustable.🤔🙄🙄. I’ll have a careful fiddle and see if I can get them up a bit.

    • @Bellakelpie
      @Bellakelpie 2 роки тому +1

      2 weeks on and I made height adjustments via the 2 so termed, "buttons," just above the headlights on my (P1 chassis) Volvo V40. I discovered that I could turn them with my fingers, but that they were hard to turn. The embossed directions next to each the buttons indicated that only 1 degree of up or down change was possible. Each button allowed the entire headlight assembly to be raised or lowered, therefore moving both low and high beam throws together. (I really only wanted high beam adjustment, but it was both or nothing.) I wound each button through1 complete turn to raise the assembly and the end result is an overall improvement over the start position. I did not want to end up blinding oncoming traffic on low beam, so have decided to just go with what I now have, rather than chance any further. 😁

    I need to change mine from a set of right hand drive to left hand drive. I've noticed that a lot of aftermarket replacements state that they come "without bulbs and bulb holders". Now, your video has just made me go "No way am I taking it into a garage to swap the units out! I can do that easy peesey!", but I was wondering how much there is to do to swap over the aforementioned to the new units? Totally doable or a nightmare of wires and whatnot? Thanks!

But it does have front fog lamps which come on as daytime running lights but when I switch the Normal headlights on the the front fogs go off and no way of switching them back on. Anyone any ideas how to have both on

    • @adibsdall
      @adibsdall Рік тому

      As they are day running lights and not fog lights you would not want them on with dipped headlights anyway as they would be too bright at night and cause dazzle.
