    I know I say this every time but that black on the Russian Tea Cake really is stunning. And I love your understated trim. But what I love the absolute most is how much you are embracing the possibilities of the box, having fun and getting imaginative with the interior, and collecting treasures to store in it! To me the potential to have an object that is fascinating inside and out, that has hidden surprises and treasures, is a lot of the fun and charm of embroidered boxes, so absolutely love to see everything you are doing with yours. Can't wait to see it all!

I have enjoyed you and Ethel together as well and hope you will let her come again to visit us. Isn't it wonderful to spend our day just doing the things we love. Also enjoy the antique of the day and look forward to seeing more of your treasures. The miniature spinning wheel is such a find. Hi Christine!
    Love, love, love your videos!!!
    You are a woman after my own heart with the kind of quilts you love!
    Recreating the look of the past has always inspired my creative endeavors.
    Your peachy pink and navy stars quilt is absolutely stunning. The colors remind of an antique that was on the series Alias Grace. I was going to attach a picture I saved of the quilt but it won’t allow me to insert it on here.
    I collected all the fabrics to make a similar quilt and now you have inspired me to get it started! Thank you.
    How funny that I have all the Kim Diehl books except Simple Harvest. So, maybe I’ll get lucky! That’s a really NICE give away.
    I have gone back and enjoyed all of your videos so I will be looking forward to seeing what you have in store in the future.

    Wow Christine...what a jam packed flosstube! The frame was made for your LaDDa piece. Just perfect! And what a deal too.
    I love MFE charts. He does amazing patterns and your box is going to be beautiful. The mixture of a single thread of dmc and diamant will be so pretty.
    Love your new bed quilt. Quilts and cats go together. And Lincoln's Watch is fabulous. It is a kaleidoscope pattern isn't it? I have so many quilts waiting to be quilted. I hand quilt so it is a slow process. I love Kim's quilts so I can imagine buying Simple Harvest twice. Just means you really like it. 🤭😉🤣
    You are the queen of vintage sewing boxes.

    • @mountaincraftsstudio
      @mountaincraftsstudio  2 роки тому +1

      It is a kaleidoscope block. I’m happy with how it turned out and regret waiting so long to get it finished. I love to hand quilt but I do so many other hand crafts that I have to pace myself or I end up with carpal tunnel issues.

    • @heidikuijer3612
      @heidikuijer3612 2 роки тому

      @@mountaincraftsstudio Carpal tunnel is not fun. I am sure my mother has it. I don't have a longer quilt machine so I have to hand quilt. I switch it off with my other hobbies...stitching, bobbin lacemaking, crochet. I think it helps to switch types and handwork. You have the weaving loom I wanted buy 35 years ago when we lived in Sweden. I decided it would not work as houses in The Netherlands are small. Do you find you can do weaving to give your hands a rest and still be creative?
      By the way, I agree about wondering what people who don't do any crafts do with themselves??? 😃

    Your Peace on Earth sampler is just beautiful and I will be looking for that frame in Hobby Lobby. I do appreciate Kim Diehl fabrics and try to collect the darker colors and I also use the leaders and enders method, great tip. Harvest colors are a favorite and reminds me of primitive stitching.

    Love your studio. It's nice to see someone who is as crazy as myself with all the different crafts. I started spinning wool and weaving a few years back, then knitting crocheting then sewing and cross stitching, now quilting and embroidery. Also other weirder crafts nalbinding, tatting and lace making. Like you said what do other people do if they are not crafting lol. Hello from Australia.

    • @mountaincraftsstudio
      @mountaincraftsstudio  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, Stacey. I tried nalbinding and bobbin lace, but I’m by no means proficient. And tatting is probably the only textile craft I’ve not tried. So you are ahead of me! Although I saw some tatted snowflake ornaments recently that tempted me. lol

    Your finish is lovely and that's a nice frame for it, too. I've often wondered what non-crafters do, as well! haha! I equate our house to the The Money Pit (movie), too. It's 50 years old and at one time was a foreclosure. The owners right before us did a lot of work and Lord help me, I do hope we've done the last as far as getting the rest of the cosmetics and high cost maintenance out of the way. Good luck with it all. Sometimes I feel that home ownership isn't every American's dream! I enjoy hearing your family history and seeing what you're working on!

      The two previous owners here had no DIY skills whatsoever. And apparently had no idea what sandpaper was used for. I’ll be sanding for years.

      @@mountaincraftsstudio I surely hope not! Your cross stitching is extraordinary and I didn't even mention your quilting, which is say is even more spectacular! You have so many fiber arts that your hands are busy with, I'd hate for you to sand the skin off your hands. 😆

    Egads girl, you’re going to drive me into bankruptcy! I love both quilts, but seeing the Lincoln quilt close up … I.MUST.HAVE! Kim Diehl and Jo Morton are favorites (of course) and love you’re idea. I’m off to Country Sampler Spring Green next week, so I’ll be looking for the Lincoln’s Watch. I’m pretty sure they carry Red Crinoline patterns. I’m with you on the browns and reds, and have several quilts in that color way. I would consider doing a Baptist Fan for the pieced portion of the Lincoln’s Watch, a braid or serpentine for the narrow borders and some kind of feather or feather with pearls for the large border. It’s so hard when you really love the quilt and want to get the quilting just right!

    • @mountaincraftsstudio
      @mountaincraftsstudio  2 роки тому +1

      I literally laughed out loud because I said the same thing after watching YOUR videos. And I absolutely was thinking exactly that for the quilting. I am beyond envious that you are going to Spring Green. I’ve not made it up there yet. I may need to rob a bank if I ever do.

      @@mountaincraftsstudio I’ve been doing a lot of self talk before Spring Green … I will not go overboard, I will not go overboard. Having said that, there is a new Whig Rose quilt that is dropping in June with Jeanne’s new line that I do plan to get. I just want to see it in person first. It was a very expensive trip last time I went. Watch for IG stories next week because I plan on a tour of upstairs and the shop.
