Taxiway lines in the sim don't follow FAR 139 at all. Marking on lighter surfaces require the black contrast. They're also too light of a yellow color. RL airport markings are more toward the orange spectrum. Asobo really needs to fix this. IRL there's also reflecting beads in the paint.
Yes, that is all correct. That's why many of us use custom materials....however, you won't be able to replicate the reflecting unless you use a brighter yellow...but then again, it will be bright all the time.
You skip a lot of steps in order to get the the material lib, I get an error NO pacakge selected I dont see you select any package can you explain please
Opening a package into the sim project editor should be obvious. In order to use a material library you have to have project loaded. Here in my case I have my 5A1 project open.
hello, I changed the color of the lines to a darker yellow and I did some testing with ortho edge lines, it doesnt seem to be geting the cross line from thesame file as the cross line stays default yellow color, also thesame happens with the marked holdshort, there must be a second image file we have to edit in order to make these oder lines custom
Thank you for these videos! You’ve helped me go from knowing nothing about the sdk to completely building an airport from scratch. The custom painted lines are causing me a lot of headaches though. I edited the taxi line texture and it shows up properly in the project editor but for some reason it does not show up at all after building the project in the sim. Are there any gotchas that I’m missing that might cause this?
@@myphysicalworld3958 I followed your example exactly and the material lib name matches the project name like in your example. I also exited out and did the usual process of moving the folder to community folder. Just not sure if it is a problem with how I changed the texture file that it doesn’t like. I will experiment with it more this afternoon.
@@sovietwizard1620 isn't it? If you do default_lighted which is taxiway centerline with green lights, it puts the taxiway edge lights for some weird reason. Pls help if I'm doing sth wrong
@@uross4743 the lights thing isn't related to the draw centerline and custom painted lines, but if you want a centerline ... you will have to do that by yourself again. Just like the lines, you will need to trace a light row (change the type) on top of the custom line.
WOW,after a ylong long time! new tutorial about lines!!
This was absolutely perfect for custom lines tutorial. Thank you.
Thank you. So glad you found it useful!

what does it mean when no package selected
Need to be more specific.

It does. I have not deciphered the other files yet.
I can concur this statement
Great tutorial thanks.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.

Did you get out of the sim and come back in? What is the name of your MaterialLib? Could be many reasons, to be honest.

BTW, is there a way to change the normal taxiway line? or we have to draw an invisible taxiway and draw a line above?
You have to remove the "Draw Centerline" from the taxiway property then actually draw the line... unfortunately.
i don't think its too bad because the original taxiway isn't as smooth as the custom painted lines.
