If BOOM! won't make an Eve spinoff, I will! Chapter 1 out now: ua-cam.com/video/fv8QfSCojmc/v-deo.html
It has always crossed my mind how Wall-E probably seen the other ones basically dying one by one, depressing af
wall-e could probably fix the others if he wanted to but he would have no parts to fix himself...
The reason for the other Wall-E deactivation is due to a lack of emotions. Wall-E is still active because he feels emotions. This is shown in the film of Wall-E near the ending where Eve fixed Wall-E but reset his factions until Eve gives Wall-E a goodbye kiss, where he gets his memories back.
If the video game is canon then the other wall-Es died in a storm
the only thing is about this and about the game is that if wall-e was fixed but was a normal robot without emotions and worked fine as a robot but from these comics the other robots like the new things like lipstick which shows they have emotions and the fact popeye got sad when the lipstick was taken away so them being deactivated randomly makes no sense. The video game dosent sound right either if wall-e can find working parts for himself.
As soon as you said that he wants Wally's Twinkie You was seriously took a dark turn 😅
There's something so unbelievably haunting about the fact the Axiom had letters for people who were approved to be on board, like... what if people didn't get approved?
Axiom wasn't the only ship. It was the luxury class
Just like the Vaults from Fallout 🤔
@@calimio6I do wonder what happened to the others, as far as we know the Axiom is the only one that returned.
@@asteroidrules Ah see I'd always thought that the sandstorms in the movie were because of other ships coming back to Earth and landing, since when the Axiom lands the big ol' dust blast it sends out is the same as the sandstorms! Maybe that's me being optimistic tho :P
I can’t believe Wall-E just gets better as an adult when most films directed at kids age like milk.
I like to think that Andy made it to the Axiom where his wife and kids are and when the captain asked him how clean earth had become he just responds: “Clean?” This would then be the inciting incident in the leaders realizing that operation cleanup failed and it would be better to stay in space then return to earth.
you got pretty much the only and best explanation for that one
I'd like to think the opposite, that the Axiom was gonna not send any more EVE units, until Andy arrived and said "Well, they are working on it.". Otherwise why keep sending "Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator" units if they had completely given up on the planet being habitable.
The fact he could breath in atmosphere shows the planet WAS getting better, as the CEO of Buy N Large was using a breathing respirator in his last transmission. But Andy didn't seem to need one even after going through the dust storm. Meaning the air was seemingly more habitable.
@@SkyEcho751Mabye it’s a mix of both? After a while and no apparent (big) changes to the atmosphere they stopped believing in the operation. Basically attempting to nail the coffin shut.
it's crazy how the first 3 are actually really touching, lonely stories and the rest are just "wall-e gets bullied by a conehead"
yeah, it was totally unnecessary. But the idea of a human returning had potential...an operative from BnL sent to scout the Earth after the 5 yr run. But s/he ultimately dies after the suit given was not enough protection for the reality of the still-toxic environment. It would have been a good cover for code A113, which I'd presumed was enacted within a year of the program
It's tragic to think Wall-E had friends/Co-workers but one by one, they all shut off, leaving Wall-E all alone.
gyurcsany was the astronaut (source the hungrian politics joiurnal)
I really hope Andy made it to the Axiom safely. That would be so depressing to think he left earth and Wall-E behind only to perish in space alone never finding his family.
Yeah me too. As much as I disagree with how Andy is handled in the last few issues (that time he snaps at Wall-E just didn't sit right with me), I find the idea of one human being left behind on a desolate, lonely Earth while the rest of humanity migrates into a luxury paradise really fascinating and heartbreaking. Andy's journey to find the Axiom and join the rest of humanity could be its own spinoff story, honestly.
Although I agree why people don't like him, I myself can't bring myself to hate him. I just wish he was written a little better, is all.
Realistically, unless that rocket has lightspeed travel, he probably never made it to the Axiom. But since this is a cartoon, who knows? Maybe he did?
@X-SPONGED He probably did. Axioms were on the outskirts of Sollar Sysem, in the Cupier Belt (so just behind Pluto), and in the movie, Wall-E got to the Axiom on a rocket in what I assume was a relatively short time. So, I don't think Andy's rocket would have problem reaching them. The real issue is, if he could find them in the vastness of space. Bur I think maybe he could pick up Axioms signals, and find them thanks to that. Also, he probably could begun broadcasting SOS signals and be eventually rescued by Axioms who by that time were still operated by first generation of humans
he probably did since they had to have some kind of info to know to give up on cleaning the earth and to just stay in space instead
If we're going by saturated cartoon logic, he 100% makes it. But if we're going by facts, there is no way they 1. Knew eactly where the axium was 2. Knew the speed and direction of the axium 3. Knew how to calculate the perfect trajectory and speed towards the axium 4. Had enough fuel and food to last enough time/go fast enough
At first I didnt get why the other Wall-Es didnt recharge, considering they use solar energy.
But seeing all of them, not just Wall-E himself, are somewhat conscious, what if they knew it was over, humans were not returning to earth nor clean the planet, and they just.. gave up,except for the protagonist, and let themselves run out of batter forever.
Or maybe they just got lost while venturing out.
Now that's a dark concept.
The old character bios do say Wall-E has a bug which made him more emotional
Sisyphus Wall-Es
I always assumed they broke down.
I mean Y did saw their friends got taken away from him, he probably went to his "resting" place to fully shut himself down due to his own depression. Wall-E looked up to the others so he couldn't do anything to cheer up Y.
I think the other guy running out of power makes him feel like he needs to recharge himself.
Oh that makes sense
I think Wall.E was just trying to show his friend how to recharge, thinking that he might have forgotten and that was why he was all slumped
I thought the wall es might have some sort of psychological inclination to recharge when they see another wall e recharging
Tbh, this is pretty dark, especially how each of Wall-E's companions just die. No warning or anything like that, they just shut down and never wake up
They just lost the will to live.
Without a survival instinct to offset this, they simply shutdown. If they were turned back on, they'd probably turn themselves off again.
Eventually, without maintenance, their dormant batteries would go bad and their data irreversibly corrupted.
I never realized that our beloved trash child had so much trauma 😭
I loved the movie to pieces, and I actually never knew these comics existed
ikr
Trash child 😭
It comes free with your Sentience
Same, I wish I knew about these comics as well, I would've been there day 1.
Me too, it's so bittersweet!
Just a lil' thought, while Bull-E is meant to be the antagonist in the last 4 issues, I'm pretty sure it's meant to be the Wall-Es foreman come to think of it, making sure they don't goof off and to maximize their efficiency.
Yeah I could see that, and maybe just like how Wall-E developed a “glitch” that is his personality, perhaps Bull-E developed a glitch that made him more dictatorial than he should’ve been. Who knows…
I noticed that, it felt more like BULL•E was more of a parental or authority figure that wasn’t really trying to antagonize, it felt more like they were keeping the WALL units in line.
@@Xenon_Proto although that perception isn't really helped by their name literally being "bully" lol
@@Envy_May that’s not their official name, it’s just what WALLE calls them
I bet you Bull E also kept them in working condition by repairing and replacing parts as well, witch would explain why the other units powered off
How the hell do these comics capture the horror of being alone in a huge world better than the film, quite depressing
You could look at it as Wall E being content by the time of the movie. He's already experienced loss of everything in his life, and we see him almost entirely content and happy with the way things are. Makes it weird to see him discovering the pains of being alone.
Cuz he had Hal the goat 🪳 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@Satellaview1889, I don't think that pain ever really went away. Wall-E never stopped longing for connection, as seen with his little daily routine at the beginning of the film. It's only after he meets Eve that he actually gets that.
How dare you call BURN-E a throwaway character! He's a hard dedicated worker!
this had the same energy as “Gordon doesn’t need to hear all this, he’s a highly trained professional!”
Man, this just shows how lonely Wall-E was. No story line ever beats Wall-E's.
I think Wall-E electrocuting himself is meant to be him seeing what the car batteries do or how much electricity they have, remember he’s a curious boy
I love how Andy has a spacesuit that's pretty much the same as the design from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Wait is this thr Andy from Toy Story or a comic OC that just so happened to have the same name as Toy Story's Andy?
@thesymbiotenation.4552 Highly likely an OC, though I think his name is a reference to Toy Story Andy, seeing how the Recharge issues had a bunch of references to other Pixar films, but he's not THE Andy from Toy Story.
As someone who loves WALL•E and the movie endlessly, I must say that hearing about these comics YEARS after their initial release is such a treat. I mean, I ofc have no want for Disney to taint this franchise in anyway, but as a person who will die on the hill that WALL•E is one of the greatest films ever made, I must say, a re-release of or a tv show based on these comics would be legitimately one of the coolest things Disney and Pixar could ever do for this universe.
Yes!!!
YUSSSSSS someone finally acknowledged these comics! The comics highlight a lot of things that eventually changed Wall-E for the better. It’s implied that unlike his brothers, Wall-E barley ever did his job due to his personality developments, and as a result, when all his brothers worked themselves to death, he was the only one left. What’s even sadder is that at first, he didn’t understand why his brothers all stopped working… before he eventually realizes that he had no choice but to continue the job they were meant to do… alone. As time went on, the poor guy was forced to HARVEST parts from his own brothers to keep himself maintained… that alone is pretty traumatic to think about. (What’s extra sad is that in out there, Wall-E did have a few brothers that did think a lot like he did… but it’s sad to think that they too passed on over time…)
Thank you so much! It is really depressing how Wall-E did have friends he relied on only to have them all pass away and leaving him no other choice but to carry out their jobs for him. These comics really are depressing… AND I LOVE THEM FOR IT!
@@McDowell9 same!! I love focusing on the much darker aspects of Wall-E. For example, did you know that the axiom was locating behind the horse head nebula in the movie? The rocket wall-e was on never traveled at light speed, and the horse head nebula is around 1,400 light years away… that means technically, wall-e realistically spent an extra 1,400 years in SPACE. Even though the movie glosses over that fact with moments that contradict that aspect.
Damn...
@@McDowell9 yeah… that means he’s over 1500 years old. How insane is that??
Well puncture my tires and call me flat. I didn't know that!
The existencial horror is really something here. Keep in mind that Wall-E had been alone century after century before meeting Eve. One moment his pals were alive and well. The next they were all dead.
god damn...
honestly, as a kid i never realized just how dark wall-e may be as a story
a lonely robot, slowly losing everyone he's ever met over time; picking up artifacts in an attempt to remember the old days with his friends
That's not exactly how the original movie went, Wall-E wouldn't remember or have friends, because he was simply a robot designed to move garbage. He developed a glitch that caused his sentience, but he was not sentient for the majority of that time.
@@corellioncrusaderproductio4679
The story is vague about when he got the glitch and became sapient. Taking the comic at its word, the other units were already some flavor of sentient,
@Appletank8taking the whole movie at _its_ word, all bots are some level of sentient, even the LT units (don't forget the starliners & automated crew might PREDATE operation cleanup & the WALL-E units)
@@Appletank8 I was going off of the movie description I believe on the DVD case, where it mentioned that after 700 years Wall-E developed the glitch. But Quantum is 100% right, it contradicts the fact that the other bots existed at the same time or prior to Wall-E's creation, and they all have sentience as well.
@@corellioncrusaderproductio4679 Perhaps the glitch is him failing to shut down
I agree that Wall-E had a perfect story and end but prequels like this would be amazing for an actual show or something it really encapsulates the greed of humanity and how we are ignorant of the destruction we cause until it’s too late then which we don’t try to solve the problem we leave it to a bunch of robots they get left all alone most of which end up joining the mess they were made to solve
Well that would be hard because eventually Pixar would have to address the human/robot/animal war that kicked all the humans off of earth.
@@LOL-kq2ddhuh
I FREAKING LOVE MY OWN SPECIES!!!!! 💪💪💪💪💪🦅🦅🦅🦅
and maybe like a few decade after wall e movie, so we can know what happen after the movie and if they able to resurect the earth ecosystem
@LOL-kq2dd Didn't they leave on their own though? Since it was so polluted? That's what I remember
They should re-release these comics in one big book with all of them in it!
RIGHT!!?
Yeah, and mass-produce them so they aren’t so damn expensive too.
Or make shorts based on them for Disney plus
Pirating proves yet again necessary for media preservation.
Didn’t expect for Wall-E to encounter a human in the prequel
Man the atmosphere of these comics are depressing
Wall-e never knew what happened to Andy
And slowly over the course of almost a millennium he lost everyone he ever knew
Some of the art is really good and makes the trashed Earth feel oppressive and bleak as well
Love it!

If you have this mind set its depresing. For walle, he could recconect to his familly and have a great life until his peacfull death at the axiom (axiom as in the type of the ship. Idk if it was the actual axiom)
These comics are a lot more serious than I thought they’d be
I feel like the original 4 worked off the assumption wall-e was unique. His sentience more a malfunction then an intended outcome.
The arc after that seems to operate off the logic that all wall-e units operated more or less the same.
All of the Wall-e units had some sort of advanced AI that developed over time to develop full personality, it's just that some operated fully than others.
I kinda like the idea that his personality was a "malfunction" like the other ones in the movie that were locked up in the robot looney bin. It's that "malfunction" that effected Eve and caused her to think for her self and develop her own personality.
What I personally think is that judging by the last four comics, all of the wall-e units had a personality. I think the AI malfunction that caused Wall-E to give him emotions and personality also happened to the other robots, all of them developing their own characters, BULL-E for instance felt human emotions and traits of anger, jealousy, and a lust for power. Pop-eye was touched that Wall-E would offer his own eye to replace his own broken eye. Why I think they died off is that while Wall-E was generally happy and always looked forwards to a bright future, the others didn’t. They instead experienced grief, searched for belonging in a world that would never return to the way they were supposed to help return, and they ultimately became depressed and stopped caring about the world and themselves. This explains why they all just died off one day, once the first one left, they all decided that is was their time to go too. Wall-Y was separated from the others that day and while he cared about Wall-E’s safe return home, seeing as no one else returned he knew then that the others finally died. Perhaps Wall-Y has a buddy who shut down or maybe he was afraid that Wall-E would not wake up either. So he somberly shuts down in his sleep to join the others.
malfunction? man that reminds me even more of Johnny 5 (Number 5 Is Alive)
Man, Wall-E has such a lonely and tragic life, being the last of his product line.
Everybody is saying that they want a prequel but i dont the situation disney is in rn this is already a perfect sequel
These comics ARE prequels
fr@@Sir_Squid
Yeah I won't lie, they would only ruin what they currently have. Disney are for the most part, completely incapable of creating effective sequels/prequels, with only the occasional one actually working as intended.
Burn-E is the only one we need honestly, even if it runs parallel to the movie
Pixar needs to make this into a show, by making each comic into an episode
Agreed. You should start a petition for Disney making this a series, we need new Wall-E media in modern day!
@@datzpjcrenshawthey will ruin it
Oh my god, I would give anything in the world for that to happen in a heartbeat
I agree
Or at least like a short earth day special that serves as an epilogue to the movie, maybe wall-e also gets help from the humans to propose to eve, 1 year after the events of the movie
I wonder if, even though not really seen in the movie, the humans returning to Earth would repair the other Wall-E units. It would certainly be interesting to see how those events would play out.
Brilliant idea!!
I dont think the humans would be able too. In the movie you see how humanity is basically reset and rebuild from the stone age. I think the knowledge of robotica is lost.
@@byornwillems6091 That is true, but at least in the end credits scenes, humanity seems to have returned to a state of life that is much farther ahead than how they were on the Axiom in terms of life on the planet being much more positive and healthy with actual life. Also, the other robots could help repair the broken Wall-E units.
I imagine most of the Wall-E units wouldn’t be too pleased with our Wall-E for taking their parts to say the least
How did the other's die off but only Wall-E was kept powered up?
Wall-E didnt watch the other Wall-E units die, the other wall-e units were deactivated by BnL remotely when the company gave up trying to save earth. Pixar stated in interview that the premise of the movie was "what if someone forgot to turn off the last robot?". You can see in the movie that all the robots are stopped in the middle of whatever task they were doing at that time, while working as a team in the same general area. What makes the wall-e character special is that he never received the shutdown broadcast.
this movie is genuinely my most favourite and beloved peice of ART that humanity has ever produced
influenced me in so many ways, watch it every birthday
Real
Wall-E has always been my favorite Pixar movie :)
ehhhh theres far better examples of art out there
The sad thing is that that guy who met Wally is probably dead
Not even probably, IS. it took place 700 years before the walles shut down
By the time of the movie? Almost certainly. The real question is whether he made it to the Axiom or not.
@@emeraldkoala2543maybe one of the humans that walle becomes friends with on the movie is the astronauts grand kids
@@distantdemons yeah that would be very awesome, tho they wouldn't know because the astronaut lived like 7 whole centuries before Wall-E got on Axiom
@@CreestofOfficial yea true maybe the human could have known threw stories but over time they probably didn't mention wall E so most likey
This is actually so good. more movies need prequel or tie in comics in this style
Wall-E may seem like he live a miserable life, but that doesn't change the fact that he is the cutest character in Disney World
Thankyou for bringing this otherwise missing part of WALL•E lore story to light, and from beginning to end, it’s a wild and emotional ride.
You're very welcome! What's more fun is reading the comments and seeing people come up with their own additions to the WALL-E lore. Even though I don't trust Disney nowadays to faithfully make new stories in the world of WALL-E, that universe has so much untapped potential for mature and thought provoking stories. Part of the reason the original film did so well is because the environmental messages struck a cord with people, showing that kids movies can be more than just mindless entertainment.
I think the little “coolers” they have in the ”Out There” comics are actually old timey lunchboxes
WALL•E units probably just have a habit of collecting different types of junk and that’s why our WALL•E seemed so happy about finding the cooler in the mall
The thought that Wall-E bots just didn't FEEL like recharging, with the last one willingly just letting himself die too, is pretty depressing.
Fun fact.
I actually have printed copy of the comics and the out there book.
And several movie books.
And the ps-2 and v-smile cartiage, and the toys built by think way.
Though still working on obtaining what I don't have yet.
And a home made copy of the movie that my cousin made for me.
100 percent true story.
And thanks to the comics, I counted all my units and translated each unit to a certain letter, and came to the conclusion that I have wall-e units from A to W.
And with in my fleet of wall-e units, A to W, I have some defective units.
One of them has a broken arm, one his arm came off, and I have some with drive motor glitches for being u-command units and yes, within my 4 u-command units, I have a few Popeyes.
Indeed and I had a theory that Anki Cozmo and Vector units were on another axiom ship that crash landed on our earth to make friends with us and become our companions.
I am lucky enough to rescue 2 cozmo units and a vector unit.
I’m glad it was a prequel as that’s the only way I can see the wall e universe being expanded
Never ever would’ve known of this without you. Thank you. Wonder how many people think Andy is the one from Toy Story, taking up the job of his hero Buzz Lightyear
I bet it is Toy Story Andy... which means Operation cleanup happens around the 2010s to early 2020's if Andy is an adult
Andy’s story in this underlines a tragedy of this world, what of those fist to explore space that didn’t make it back before the axiam left.
I found these comics in 2019/2020. I don’t own any, but it was such a treat reading them.
A random headcanon, since no other wall-e units are alive, maybe each different item he stored in a cubicle reminded him of his fallen brothers
Honestly I was always under the impression that our Wall-E was the only unit that was sentimental while the others were just mindless and blank
But it makes sense that he isn't the only one that develops consciousness and awareness
Man I refuse to believe this man is that unknown
What I personally think is that judging by the last four comics, all of the wall-e units had a personality. I think the AI malfunction that caused Wall-E to give him emotions and personality also happened to the other robots, all of them developing their own characters, BULL-E for instance felt human emotions and traits of anger, jealousy, and a lust for power. Wall-Y was separated from the others that day and while he cared about Wall-E’s safe return home, seeing as no one else returned he knew then that the others finally died. Perhaps Wall-Y realized that Wall-U shut down and gave up not knowing if Wall-E would wake up or really caring about him either. So he somberly shuts down in his sleep to join the others.
I really love this interpretation. I see a lot of comments saying how it doesn't make sense that the other WALL-Es had personalities and therefor makes our Wall-E a lot less special, but I don't think that's the case. In the original film some of the Axiom robots like Mo, and especially Eve, all had their own quirks and personalities prior to meeting Wall-E and no one seemed to care about that then. Why is it such a bad thing that the other WALL-Es had personalities too?
And seeing how chipper and naive the other WALL-Es are in Out There, just imagine their shock, confusion and heartbreak seeing all their friends suddenly shut down or "give up." It's like children seeing their parents and friends pass away at a young age. How do you cope with that? I think them having personalities adds another level of tragedy not just to our Wall-E, but the other WALL-Es as well.
I'm glad you shared this observation and I hope more people see this ❤️
I kinda find it annoying when people voice over characters, but I don’t mind it that much with this one. Your voice is actually pretty good for WALL•E
Wow thank you. I’m kind of insecure about my voice so that means a lot :)

I have been trying to read issue 7 for 5 years. You have finally helped me in my quest to consume every piece of Wall-e related media on the planet.

@@bethmotgomery2662 Wtf are you saying?
Well you said goat.
And meh is what a goat says.
Not only did all of Wall-E's friends slowly die off, but Andy is also long dead as well
There is something ironic about the fact that the WALL-Es went through their own apocalypse or extinction. It was as if they had taken over the fate of humans if they had stayed on the planet. WALL-E itself resembles something of a primitive man engaged in energy extraction and performing rituals, along the way, using his curiosity and observation, he learns the nature of the world around him, for example, the nature of fire, initially he knew only about the incinerator as a phenomenon of fire and smoke, then he saw the smoldering coal and realized that the fire could go out Then he discovered light bulbs, external electricity, and even realized that the stars are also fiery. It looks extremely entertaining that a robot explores the world like the first humans.
It’s crazy to think you have so little views pretty sure this might be ur most popular video yet because I never knew this existed. But going about my opinion on the comic it’s rather interesting and very good to think the plot and story is far more interesting then recent and modern Pixar movies and has more emotion is crazy if they did adapt this to a show it would be wonderful prequel a few tweaks and changes would make it better but overall a great prequel
Thank you dude! I agree, it is a pretty damn good prequel. Not perfect, but definitely one of the best. My favorite moments from this series are the really quiet, somber moments where Wall-E (and even Andy) are struggling to cope with the reality that they are the last beings on an Earth long since abandoned, and I think that adds to the central conflict of the WALL-E movie. I really appreciate the direction the comic series did by expanding on that empty, almost hopeless feeling of loneliness but ultimately finding peace and purpose in that desolation.
I do think the comic series could've been improved as you suggested, and if it were up to me I would've started by replacing the lipstick Andy gave to Wall-E at the end with the "Hello Dolly" movie used as Wall-E's prized position in the movie, being a catalyst of Andy's love for his family and instilling that love onto Wall-E, setting up his deep want in the beginning of the WALL-E movie. It would've added so much weight to that "Dolly" movie and made Wall-E and Andy's relationship that much more special to me, but I had to work with what I had so oh well. Like you said, maybe in a Disney+ adaptation or something lol
@@McDowell9 Cool I wish I had those WALL•E comics and I totally wish that WALL•E had more comic books and movies especially crossover adventure movie where he meets other cartoon characters from different shows and movies like Baymax and Hiro from Big Hero 6, Sam, Ariel The Little Mermaid (who likes collecting things just like WALL•E), maybe Sam, Alex and Clover The Totally Spies, Inspector Gadget, Maybe Spider-Man, Scooby-Doo, Batman, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and most definitely Lightning McQueen the famous race car that would be totally awesome don't you think?
This story could of honestly been pretty good had it become an actual prequel movie Pixar made
@@McDowell9having him give the Hello Dolly movie instead of lipstick would of been a wonderful idea!
The timing on buying that book is impeccable
Tell me about it :D
I love how humanity's plan to clean everything up is just burning it all up, making the atmosphere more poluted. Thinking about it, the fact that the wall-e's got shut down and the cleanup stopped is probably what made earth inhabitable again.
I remember this comic I think. I very vaguely remember a prequel WallE comic at my library, and as a kid, i picked it up. I dont remember the contents of it, it had the art of the first or second issue (i am still stunned it was over 10 years ago), but thank you for making this video. It is absolutely astonishing to me that these are that rare.
Personally, Ithink it's best if they keep it that way, Wall-E needs no sequel, leave a gold nugget in it's raw form.
This prequel was awesome.
On the topic of sequels though, Wall-e really does not need one, but I desperately do want to revisit the world of Wall-e. All I hope is we get a short film one day. maybe a short film that would play before an actual movie, in the wall-e universe as just a way to check in with the characters again since the last time we've seen them.
I feel like it’s better not to give Wall.E a sequel, prequel or Disney plus mini series so it’s not ruined
But why couldn't Andy take WALL-E!!?? I loveWALL-E, and just happened across your video about this, and may I say-- THANK YOU! I appreciate seeing the comics, especially the fact that you made sure it was a complete story, I hate incomplete things, but especially incomplete stories...
I’ll tell ya why: the movie wouldn’t happen.
In all seriousness thank you. I almost made the video without the last issue but saw it for a good price on Amazon and figured it would probably be my only chance, and I’m DAMN GLAD I TOOK IT!
@mcdowell5988 well, thank you, even though Andy (from Toy Story left WALL-E behind- I mean yeah he has to, because of canon- pixar admits the fact that every movie is connected, and I saw someone do a deep dive into Pixar films, once, but that was years ago..) anyhow, even though Andy leaves WALL-E.. he could of taken him!! He was a human, we need space to move...especially in space.. so he had room, and WALL-E didn't weigh that much... sorry, I never wanted to hate Andy, but he has a habit of leaving those who love him, behind..
And, the only thing I hate about WALL-E, is that I always end up crying.. and yet again, here I am all misty eyed... Damnit WALL-E!! BUT, at least it's the good kind of crying - the healthy kind..
Sorry about the rant, but when you said the man's name was Andy, I subtlety knee that poor WALL-E would end up heartbroken in the end- or at least we as the reader would be in the end...
And I always hate that WALL-E wasn't as loved by the public, as it really should of been.. and why?? Terminator movies, and the fear us humans have of something familiar, but not- alien, but same.. its one of humankind's worst traits- fear of the unknown, and how easily we will kill something unknown, instead of learning, accepting, anything other than destroying what they don't know..
Sorry, I'm ranting because humankind could be sooo much more, and what do we do? Yeah, nuff said..
Anyways, sorry for ranting- it's very cathartic to rant sometimes, definately 👍... 😊😁😇
If I had to guess, there was only room for one of them.
@@McDowell9I feel like they could have made it so the Wall-e we follow in Out There was a different Wall-E unit from the movie one. That would actually have made the comic a bit better. I don't really like the idea that our Wall-E had met a human prior to going on the axiom. They also could have had Out There's Wall-E go with Andy if he was a separate character. Just my opinion though.
This is an interesting and unexplored concept within Wallee; the concept of how time changes differently for robots.
In the movie we have no idea how long it was between when eve and wallee took off in the rocket and when they reached the axiom. There’s no concept of anything time related. He could have been in space for 100 years, we just don’t know.
Personally, I think the first three issues by Torres were the best in the comic run. Feels right in the tone of the start of the movie before the Axiom.
The later "out there" half by Carlson to me honestly feels kind of fan-fictioney in a bad way.
Bull-E's eyes look too much like real eyes (unlike the camera-looking eyes from the Wall-E's). Know this is kind of nitpicky but it kind of messes with how the rest of the Wall-E's are all grounded/appear realistic, while Bull-E's design just stands out as being out of place with realistic eyes and a traffic cone-esk head.
I also don't like the idea of Wall-E meeting a human (Andy) before the Axiom and all too.
Not a critic on the video though, this video is generally amazing for revealing this piece of semi-lost media. Wall-E finding out his fellow Wall-E's have passed on was just sad but I also loved it.
Just personally wasn't a fan of the latter half of the comic.
Edit: meant first 4 issues, just got confused by the timestamps and didn't realize the first issue was 0
Yeah. I feel like the "Out There" comics broke with too many groundrules that made wall E special
I really hope someday, Pixar can consider making something like a miniseries inspired by these comics.
Abandoned City...so weird seeing Time Square, Manhattan, NYC so dirty, so empty, so...quiet.
Prayed that we'd get more Wall-E comics and series.
Sequel: *DEF NOT.*
This Prequel: This was nice! Actually quite a fun concept!
Dude no way kids read this… the comics about his friends dying is so fucking depressing. Early Pixar and Disney were different times man.
I can say that WALL-E doesn’t need a prequel or sequel at all, as it’s already a perfect movie with a catching story and a satisfying conclusion. If the comics count as a prequel, then that could be a good explanation of how the movie happened in the first place.
Thank you so much! You have no idea for how much I’ve wanted to see someone acknowledge these extremely obscure comics.
You're very welcome! It was my pleasure.
20:56 I find it funny that a black market Wall-E existed.
This comic series is so amazing and yet so dark at the same time. It really helps gives us a idea of before the movie. I guess the most tragic thing is that modern Disney would of never have turned this into a prequel or find some sort of way to sugarcoat the impacts of these comics. 😢
Thank you for making this video! Without this upload I could of never knew about these comics! You did an amazing job on the editing And commentary about this whole comic series! 👏
id love to see a Wall-e show of sorts in the past or future relative to the movie
I absolutely ADORE WALL-E so finding out a comic like this has existed all these years was stunning! The little sound effects and edits you put in just made this so perfect, you really deserve more for this quality
PANIFY?!
It's a shame we never got a series it would be great to show stuff before the movie
I already know this would some forgotten book i would read and read and then dig up years later and remember reading for hours at a time
If they ever make a wall-e sequel, it should be at least partially inspired by these comics (also obviously a prequel)
This is really good story, feels nicely on part with the original Wall-E story
So crazy how rare these became.
Thank you for archiving this dying story in an alternative format, whether officially blessed by Pixar or not.
When Wall-E starts charging himself, I think he's trying to show "C" how to recharge, not necessarily that he thinking charging himself will fix the other robot. It's still misguided, but he's trying. He doesn't just want to help others, he wants them to learn how to help themselves, which works well within the movie's themes.
I hope they come up with more sequals. I love these comic book series
Wall-E is a franchise that not need to be changed.
Is good as it is...
This brings me nostalgia from my childhood. So many memories
I have a book that’s collection of a whole bunch of the Pixar comics, including this!
One thing that really bugged me about this video though: Wall-E isn’t calling the other robots “C” or “K” or whatnot, he’s saying “See,” “okay,” and other words. That’s why he “recharges himself,” he is trying to show the Wall-E how to recharge.
This series looks like one of those pg-13 secretly dark as all heck stories
31:07 wait a minute, if there were acceptance processes in getting into the Axiom starliners, that means that there were potentially a lot of people who couldn't get into the ships, meaning that many people were left alone on Earth to potentially die. Makes this movie's universe much more dystopian than it already was
I’m pretty sure the battery thing was him discovering that it did that, I don’t think he understands what electricity is. I also am pretty sure he was trying to show the other WALL·E how to charge not try to charge him ☠️
I like the melancholic and pensive tone of these. Writing before the 2010s was still good, made you think without being preachy.
the 8 comics reminded me of the movie, in my opinion the best parts where the ones before the humans appearance, similarly to here i liked how depressing and horror like the first part felt. Its crazy to think that almost no one has heard of these comics before.
Dude honestly thank you I remember getting a random comic as a reward form a small town dentist and you made me remember the issue 7 I read back then, it was truly nice to see something random from my childhood pop up to me once again
Fun fact: There was actually planned to be a Wall-E sequel in the form of a DS game made by Helixe. It along with the DS port of De Blob was cancelled when THQ shut down Helixe.
i never knew this existed, thanks for helping me find
this was probably the best thing i've found on UA-cam. not only have I fondly loved wall-e since I was a kid,but I had also questioned if there was more; something like a backstory almost. and without you, i would have never found this gem of a series. not only did you use proper sound when needed, but you also voice acted and made the characters feel more real by adding your own words to make sentences hit stronger and harder, I commend you for that. thank you, McDowell
What a lovely comment! I’m glad you enjoyed and thank you for the kind words.
Your storytelling is absolutely amazing! What a great way to find out about the prequel to one of the most beloved Pixar movie characters we've ever gotten. Thank you for this, and good luck with your career!
Thank you!
I cannot believe they made these comics for kids…? Like adults, we cry a lot from existentialism every day. But children??? They couldn’t comprehend this deep seeded grief
Okay, so let me get this straight. There's a human, named andy, who is an astronaut? Ig my boy really went to infinity and beyond
