As a kid, I saw the line "I don't wanna survive, I wanna live!" as a joke. As an adult, I finally understand how meaningful that line was to the movie, and even real life
Oh my god, me too! I don't feel like I was as much of a dumb kid now.

Before this movie, I never would have imagined two robots loving each other. Then I realized it was more human than some real life interactions.

The fact that this movie is the only one that will make you sad for the death of a cockroach shows what a masterpiece it is.
I never even thought of that... I'm a 40 yr old man and roaches terrify me. Spiders and snakes are just fine but roaches make me squeal like a girl and I was still heartbroken when he accidentally ran over him.
Or just seeing Wall-e run over the cockroach without it mattering to him at that point of the movie

Something I wanted to mention was how adorable the Wall-E script was. It's filled with sort of Wall-E translations. In that first scene when Wall-E and EvE meet each other it is so adorable in script form! For example:

I mean, you can visually see him melting because of it, it’s so adorable.
I never took the "wake up" joke as a "drunk/ hung-over" bit.
To me, it was always a play on the "I am absolutely USELESS without my morning coffee!" bit. (or in Wall-E's case, his battery recharge)
Such an amazing movie that evokes SO many emotions with barely ANY dialogue!

It totally screams that to me, or maybe "I love my job, but getting up *always* sucks!" But maybe that's just projection.

My favourite scene is when the captain asks for an analysis of some dirt. When the computer mentions the word "earth" he asks for a definition and gets a ton of information in the end.
Like... some simple dirt opened the eyes of the captain to so many things... It kinda shows how even small things can have a lot of impact on us.
that time a "Wikipedia rabbithole" saved humanity.
lol for some reason this moment also always gets me. It's like could you imagine a time when the Earth is gone and someone comes across some reference to it and asks about it and the deep web pulls up these moments of us laughing it up on youtube, wildlife, and everything else that makes this place so amazing.
Or more accurately, Human Curiosity.
I think one of my favorite things about this movie is how strongly humans bond with nonsentient things and imbue them with human qualities. We see it a ton with the robots in the film but it really makes me think about how we do this in the real world: naming our cars, talking to appliances that aren’t working, treating roombas as pets, etc. we as humans care so much about each other that that care expands beyond us and touches everything we come in contact with
I remember when a not insignificant part of the internet was distraught as one of the Mars rovers shut down. It's always interesting what humans will have that connection with.

This is one hundred percent true. I still love Stabby the Roomba, even though he's just a character in a Tumblr post about this very phenomenon.
@gabrielmalaguti5512 Oppy had become such a symbol of everything that is good about humanity. The fact it survived against the odds for WAYYYYY longer than it wa ever meant to, the fact we could play a birthday tune through its motors and servos every year without fail, the way it was used to explore the unknown. All of it is so in touch with the human experience
I’d argue that Wall-E is an incredible love story for two reasons. You can feel them get closer and closer despite them only really saying their names, and the “Define Dancing” scene is truly so beautiful. The romance didn’t feel artificial (despite them being robots), it felt rather organic as the movie progressed over time. Wall-E is smitten and infatuated with Eve at first glance, while she is slowly charmed by him. She was so focused on her objective while he was showing his collection. It was really cute to see how Eve and Wall-E were polar opposites and how quickly they cared for one another.
I would say she saw him as a threat, then an annoyance. Wonder if it was the lightning that struck some sense into her.

I love the music in the Define Dancing.
My theory about how Wall-E got his personality back after EVE revives him is that their first electric shock "kiss" after the space dance scene she was able to "download" some of his "personality," and then with the "kiss" back on Earth she's able to "upload" it back into the new components
His ram was damaged, not his hard drive. He needed to be "reboot" similar to how a pc does when ram is swapped. The electrical surge caused a reboot

I mean, there's no way that Wall-E is able to wirelessly transmit or receive anything.
My theory is it's 700 years of experience that gave him sentience, which is why so many other robots are also so human-like. It takes a while to load all that back in after a reboot. Her kiss to him then triggered his recent memories that were buried under so much data, like a high priority database query.
Also, I cry every time I see that scene. Including just now.

One thing I like about the neutral moral messaging is that you can get multiple messages from it. The one I got from it is that complacency is the root problem, that you have to take risks and learn for yourself to actually live.
"I don't want to survive, I want to LIVE!"
Change is hard, and disrupting a stable status quo, no matter how soul-crushing that staus quo may be, is one of the biggest changes you can make.
Complacency, the urge to just... give in, let the status quo remain unchanged, isn't easy to fall into, but very hard to climb out of.
It's scary, and dangerous, but NOT doing it kicks the can down the road at best, and chucks the can entirely out of reach at worst.
Ignorance is dangerous, willfull ignorance the deadliest thing in the world... Just think if Napoleon went into Russia prepared... Better yet, knew to stay out. It's too big an area to conquer.

@@Hoshimaru57 "The nail that sticks out gets hammered down" concept isn't the norm where I live, but I know it is in some places. I do think it's a negative side to taking collectivism too far. The really crazy thing is collectivism and individualism aren't opposites in my experience, and completely compatible philosophies when both done in a healthy way. I don't know how to promote that healthy way to society as a whole though. I've seen it done on a small scale, but it requires the community to all be invested in working towards a better life for everyone.
Wall-E's little "Ta-da" when he shows EVE what he can do is my favorite thing in the whole movie. It's just so cute.
Finally. I needed this.
Also, you should’ve added a win for when EVE kisses WALL-E for the first time. After that, WALL-E floats away completely frozen stiff in shock. Such an over exaggerated yet adorable reaction, especially when you consider that it’s most likely his first kiss as well. Even his energy bar rapidly goes from max bars to zero bars repeatedly, almost like he’s flustered or really excited. Maybe that means his energy bar is actually his heart rate or his actual energy? Not sure, but that specific moment shows such a genuine reaction to a first kiss, and it STILL makes me laugh every time.

Wall-E opening on "Sunday Clothes" and the all encompassing Buy-n-Large being the cause of and "saviour" is a huge Fallout vibe. Something about the Mid 1900s aesthetic blends seamlessly with the post apocalyptic setting. You could almost call this a Fallout movie in a sense.
I think a factor is how much post-apocalyptic fiction comes from and was later inspired by the Cold War era.
I always loved how as soon as Eva's ship left, you could see her relief that she could be herself and the first thing she does is fly around.
This is my favorite romance movie. If a 700-year-ish old trash compactor can find someone to love him for who he is, I'm not beyond hope.
This movie was always a weird spot for me because it came out when I was a kid but the aesthetic of the whole thing always fascinated me. The beauty of space and the ship, the dour and brownness of the earth, and the honestly great message of how we can make a difference if we try.
Always stuck with me as a kid.
Also, I wanted a cockroach until I actually saw one and saw how nasty they looked irl haha
I feel the same way, I was always like “what in the world am I watching?” Not like a car crash where you have to watch even though it’s morbid, but more like pure fascination and connection you feel in the movie to you learning about your own world around you. Then when I grew up I appreciated the movie even more for it!
A neat little detail I noticed watching this video is that just as Wall-E's E stands for "Earth class", the Wall-A's A most likely stands for "Axiom class".
This movie is filled to the brim with little details. One of my favorite Pixar movies
I have been watching this with my daughter 5 year old daughter since she was 2. She used to want it on over and over again on repeat. It's easy to understand there isn't anything complicated to understand for a child but at the same time there is depth to it watching it as an adult such an amazing film
You remind me I have to watch this with my 9 & 6 year old kids now.
They stayed completely still during Tom & Jerry and that was one of these most animated films recently (well more action & less talk)

The same happened to me when this came out, the only difference is that I was the child that asked to see it over and over. I don’t even know how many times I made my parents watch it but I’m sure it’s many
This is why i love pixar, dreamworks, and some cartoon shows. They are made to be kid friendly but is enjoyable by everyone.
From the moment Wall-E gets crushed, Eve's desperation is palpable and heartbreaking, and it gets to me every time I watch it.
The way it delivers the environmental message is better then most other films of this nature.

13:10 that scream hits me so hard. After watching the movie you start to understand their emotions and motivations more based on their pitches in their tone than actual words and when she screams it makes me tear up every time
For a good moment, I forgot that CinemaWins already did a two-parter for Wall-E and was really excited to see what CinemaWins was gonna say about the movie.
I guess that goes to show just how much Wall-E offers as a film that I’m so eager to re-experience Wall-E!
One thing I was surprised no one talked about is how when Eve does the little shock kiss thing in space, wall-e's battery gauge goes up and down like a heart beat speeding up :)
One of the best movies. Ever. Doesn't matter if you've got nostalgia for it or not, everyone can see the beauty for what it is.
Also one unique thing I thought about that I wanna discuss real quick: I find it interesting that of all the robots we see in the film, AUTO is the only one that speaks in full sentences. Like, he's the only robot character that can fluently verbally communitate with others. And I think that says something to add to his 'villany' I noticed this from Lee's compiments for the movie but every robot character feels very..'alive' for lack of a better term. You can get their deals immideately. Wall-E is goofy, a little naive, and wants to help people. EVE is serious, but she can also be playful and caring. Mo believes in 'the rules', he likes things clean, but isn't above getting dirty for the right reasons. All the robots have things you can interpret from them just by watching them move, the noises they make, they way they interact with others.
AUTO..doesn't have any of that. He moves rigedly, efficently...*automatically.* There's no personality to anything he does. He's a machine, down to the code. He was given an order and he will carry it out until he can do so no longer. There's not really anything you can deceipher from him just by watching him interact with the world. I feel you could watch this whole movie muted, without sound (not that I recommend that, the sound is amazing) and still be able to get a picture of who our characters are. Except AUTO. And THAT'S why he has an actual voice. It's the only way he can communicate his 'beliefs' and his 'desires' in any way, cause he has nothing else. He *had* to have a voice cause there just wasn't a creative way for him to express these things otherwise, he's just too machine-like, both in concept and desing to do the same thing the other bots do.
You'd think not allowing your characters to speak would be a limitation to express who they are, and it can be. So It really says something that they were able to get around this for all of the characters to make their personalites come to life so well. And the one character who wouldn't need a work-around ended up with the least personality of them all.
@@riolulover9784 Out of experience as an engineer, I find that a lot of the time, the "limitations", the constraints, often don't restrict what the product becomes. Answering the questions that come from systemic issues doesn't limit the solutions; Limitation breeds creativity. With that creativity usually comes brilliant answers, designs, and systems that lead to other questions, that when answered, invent a beautiful web of decisions that create a full vision. That end result of that vision is stuff like Wall-E, Starcraft 2, amphitheaters, etc. It results in defining pieces of art.
i remember in elementary school we did a movie night on field day, and one of the choices to go see was WALL-E. it was me and maybe 5 other kids in there since the other 40 or so went to watch the other film offered. never regretted my choice
This is one is easy: What's great about Wall-E? All of it. The fact that a film from 2008 (Had totally forgotten it's THAT old) whose two protagonists and love interests have the vocabular range off a Pokemon, and yet their story will leave most grown adults openly in tears every single time without fail means it is absolutely a masterpiece. And it will entertain kids just as brilliantly. Favourite Pixar film? Heck, this is one of my absolute favourite films outright.
The best part of Wall-E for me is there not being a message. It is up to the viewer to interpret what they're seeing. With no talkative protagonist or monologing antagonist, it gives the film more room, letting the viewer decide what they are seeing. A love story between two robots, Wall-E being the change needed for humanity to move forward, or a political film highlighting what is wrong with the world. All in all, it actually gives a clearer picture of what is actually happening. Making the viewer pay more attention to what is happening so they are more interested. Making them feel like paying attention, instead of having tropes laid in front of them.
As someone who was squarely in the target demo when this movie came out, and Obsessed over it for months, it's a lot of fun watching someone discover all the little world building details that have been rattling around in my brain for a decade now.

I was never a fan of the 'sentient robot'-trope, yet this remains my favourite Pixar film of all time. The imagery and storytelling are just so flawless, and the silent communication shows how much of our emotions and expressions have nothing to do with language. And I LOVE language.
The thing that makes it particularly... good with that. Is that it's not just "Robots are just like people" Because... they aren't. All of them need something that *changes* them to be more human, with Auto being the one whose programming simply doesn't allow it to take root. He is a robot, he fulfills his programmed directives and *nothing else*.
There's a reason that Wall-E is my most favourite movies of ALL time and nothing will ever be able to top that, it's truly a Spectacle! Focusing on every single part of the movie to make it excellent and even more so how much emotion Wall-E has as a robot and how he affects those around him!
And god, seeing Wall-E get crushed by the podium followed up by Eve's scream turns my heart into shredded paper.
I agree, this is the movie that made me feel sentimental towards robots.
I have always loved the way the from the minute he rolls onto the Axiom, he begins changing every character her interacts with. Hes this unintentional agent of change.
My mom, without fail, has always cried at 13:09, no matter how many times she watches it.
Easily in the top 5 in the best animated films ranking, such a beautiful film.
I had to stay in a hospital room for five days straight after an attempt, on day three I started watching this(the tv had some movies to pick from). By time I left I watched this movie 7 times. Each time I saw it I saw more and more. It’s truly a masterpiece

my favorite part of this movie will always be the understanding and communication that the robots all share without talking. and the way it s portrayed with “put on your sunday clothes”! the way that the rogue robots follow behind wall-e and beep an approximation of the melody is a silent scream of “we understand you!! we re JUST like you!!” and i think thats just darling
Wall-E has one of the best end-credits songs ever. Down To Earth is so beautiful and it makes me teary-eyed every time ;__; ♥

Everything great about WALL-E is the entire movie! It’s completely underrated, and the animation of it was completely well done, and it and completely captivating! There needs to be a sequel!

forever my favorite Pixar movie. so atmospheric and surprisingly emotional for assumingly unemotional robots
This film just gets better and better every time you watch it. There's genuinely so much to appreciate and love about this one, from its commentary on consumerism and complacency, to the beautiful love story told with minimal dialogue, to the gorgeous animation, to what I think is definitely Thomas Newman's best musical score. It's easy to see why this was the first Pixar film to be included in the Criterion collection, not just one of the best animated films ever made, but one of the best _films_ ever made *period*
Little fun fact, this movie's score is by Thomas Newman, who also worked on the first movie of A Series of Unfortunate Events, and you can really tell by some of his styles and techniques, and I highly reccomend the score of ASoUE movie, some tracks like Wide Window and the Storm are delightful!
That soundtrack (SoUE) is phenomenal.
WALL-E is one of my favorite movies and it says a lot that two robots can make me feel a bunch of things. Mostly giddy. A wondrous and beautiful film.
I love Wall-E so much, I can't find the smallest downside to it at all, which is something I can say about very very very few Pixar films. Even the ever-present Pixar Face works perfectly here with their hundreds of years spent blobbing out in microgravity.
I cry every time with this film. That ending with Wall-e being crushed, and the slow slow, slow reboot of his soul just absolutely cuts me 😭😭😭😭
5:09 a nice little detail about EVE. Is that she immediately starts looking for life when the space ship is still grounded. But as soon as it takes off, she starts flying around & appears to be enjoying all the room she has to fly. She was as sentient as Wall-E when she was first introduced.
Another note. When she's changing languages to find one he'd understand, he didnt asnwer her when she asked him who he was. So she assumed he wasn't programmed to understand english.
I love how much fun Ben Burtt must have had doing the sound design for this movie abd once again voicing a lovable little robot.

WALL-E is by far my favourite movie ever made. It's an amazing example of "show, don't tell" - the dialogue is extremely limited yet we understand everything that's going on. And the fact that the movie could exist perfectly fine without AUTO ever being in it shows just how amazing the movie is.
Incredible to think that this Magnum Opus of a film is about 15 years in age. Long live, WALL-E!

According to this Google search result of dubious quality, "Wall-E only has 17 lines of dialogue and 862 words". It's amazing how much emotion and character is displayed with so few words. THAT'S filmmaking. Also, I highly recommend Eddache's video on Wall-E. The history of Hello Dolly and the way that the opening line of both the film and Put On Your Sunday Clothes align is just...well, it's poetic, really.
Not even my favorite Pixar movie, but still undeniably a masterpiece. Wonderful movie.
The thing I love most about this movie is it’s ability to tell a story with little to no dialogue. Just WallE interacting with the environment. Been a WallE fan my whole life and it’s gonna stay that way❤️

This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece. It gets me emotional every single time I watch it. I wish I could give a big hug and thanks to everyone involved in the making of this amazing, beautiful movie
I remember watching the movie, as a kid for fun. But I was assigned to watch it in 12th grade as part of an astronomical academy for consumerism and wow it changed my view on life and how we always replace slightly damaged or outdated devices. WALL*E really stays up to date with animation, story and message.

This is one of the best animated movies of all time. The animation was truly ahead of its time, and the story is becoming more relevant and timeless.
You should do some videos on the Transformers movies! For the most part, the fans love it and the critics dog on them, so it’s a pretty good fit for your channel.
I’ve always wondered what you thought of Interstellar as well. I know that it is enjoyed by pretty much everyone, but it’s just such a good flick.
I always thought the spark-kiss eve gives WALL-E at the end was supposed to be more fantasy than sci-fi, because everyone knows that at the end of the fairytale, it's true loves kiss that saves the day.
I remember being 6 and seeing this in the cinema and being absolutely enthralled by it. I can't believe its been 15 years and yet this is only one of few movies that stuck with me.

Is a movie like this easier or harder to make a wins video than the deliberate positivity some other films require?
The great thing is that it really shows something that most people do not think about. When movies first came out they did not have sound and there were some great actors and actresses that could make those really come to life. The same with some of the theater arts that show a story without spoken word. This was a truly great show and I with they could make something this good again, it has been a long time.
Rewatched wall-e recently before this and loved it all over again. Very few movies can bring a tear but just the detail of the love! The kiss in space after the dance he goes stiff with his charge meter going crazy (his heart) like couldn’t have been better
this episode put me into that emotionally vulnerable state and i had to watch more episodes like this so im watching your inside out one next
I think the opening and 1st act is my favorite part of Wall-E its very "Human" just seeing wall-e go about his day feels really nice.
In the clip at 20:23 wall-e’s battery percentage is rapidly moving up and down like his heart’s beating quickly because of eve’s kiss

god, even just watching a synopsis of the movie makes me tear up; I watched this movie alone a couple years ago cuz I hadn't seen it since I was a kid and I thought it'd be a fun lil thing to watch at night cuz it was one of my favorites. As a grown man who was never cried at a movie EVER.. I cried four separate times watching this. Four. It wasn't little sniffles and wiping away a single tear crying either. It was ugly body-shaking sob crying. I was a mess by the end of it. What a fuckin fantastic film.
@1:22 my mom is a coda, I watch everything with subtitles. I know a lot of ppl say it kills their immersion but for me it helps. When I read because of sign language I tend to only focus on what I’m reading and can hear the words. Subtitles for me let me drown out the world(outside theatre, audience, background noise) and hear the words.

An amazing little detail I found out while rewatching, Whenever Wall-E uses his eye wipers you could see his lenses sink back slightly, likely to keep the blade sealed from the elements, and I think they even do that just a little less for his eyelids.

It was my one of mom's favorite movies, still can't watch it without crying.
There's a surprising overlap between WALL-E and Westworld, honestly. The message, in my opinion, is to break the status quo. To embrace change, real change. Not just color swaps but transformative, all-encompassing change to how we live and see the world. The setting full of trash exists as a cautionary tale, a warning of what could happen, should we stagnate and remain "in our loops" as Westworld would put it. WALL-E only survives _because_ they change from a mindless robot into a thinking, feeling, living being. And I have a whole video essay's worth on my thoughts of what makes something a "living being." But suffice to say, WALL-E more than qualifies.

I am sad that I only now am discovering this channel. I have been binging it a bunch during this past week. I have to say that the positivity of this is infectious, and it even affects the way you communicate about difficult and divisive issues.
Exploiting the negativity of online political and social issues for extra clicks us such an easy (and ultimately toxic) thing to do. Pointing out where people disagree, accepting that we may disagree, and then trying to encourage dialogue and understanding is something that is missing from the world right now and I am so happy to see a channel that is encouraging that.
To me, it's clear where your likely political and social leanings are, but you're concentrated on the reasons and goals, trying to find that balance to bring people in. Much like you have done with this channel.
This channel is an excellent example of what we should be putting out into the world. Point out why a thing can and should be enjoyed, or why other people do enjoy it even if you personally may not like it or even understand it. Then, leave it at that. Agree to disagree, but have respect because the other person is just that, a person.

This is the best modern silent movie.
I haven't seen this movie for years, but it's always stuck with me. I loved it as a kid, and I love it as an adult, because of how unique it is, along with the surprising attention to detail, character depth and more.
WALL-E is a strange movie, it kinda sits on it's own. But that too is one of it's charms. It felt like an indie movie, but it was anything but.
One of the things that I didn't notice the first dozen times I watched the movie: The place where the probe ship lands is actually a dried up seabed; the ocean has retreated that far.
Also, Buy N' Large absolutely held the main responsibility for the state of the earth, not the consumers. The corporation ran everything, including the governments, which meant they had a free hand to ignore environmental regulations and cut corners on trash disposal. At one point, you can even see the slogan, "Do Your Part - Fill Your Cart" on a store wall: Consumerism was literally turned into a matter of civic duty. And when the degree of the problem they created became obvious, the corporate executives didn't invest the resources needed to actually fix the problem, they went with the "easier" option of cutting their losses and leaving everyone in space.

This movie is underrated. And despite it seeming like there’s not much to it, it actually has a heartwarming and inspiring message as well as a cute story about two characters from completely different worlds that , despite their differences, legitimately care for one another.
I just wanted to say that I love the “hauling cube” that you slipped in there. Love these videos, please keep going.

I loved this film when it came out, and still love it today. I was a kid when I watched it and had toys of it back in the day, just one of the films that’s stuck with me. Love watching the videos you do, and looking forward to more 😁
Wall-E is up there as one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. I love the story, the message, the visuals, everything about it is just a complete joy to watch. I remember seeing it in theaters and being absolutely blown away and I seem to always catch something new every time I re-watch it.

I am happy this video came out, I’ve been meaning to rewatch this movie recently, because I’ve been helping pick up a lot of trash recently, and judging by the emotional wave of tears I got from this video, I’d say it’s time to watch the movie.
Honestly, I would love to see him do a video on The Iron Giant! It was one of my fav growing up and I would love to see his interpretation of it!
When I was younger, this was my favorite movie by far, im now 17 and I haven’t watched it in years, I’m so glad I ended up on this video bc it’s taught me a lot about myself. I’ve more recently started to find out that I’m more of the hopeless romantic type and I’m not much of a ppl person. This movie being my favorite as a kid reflects that beautiful in a way that was unknowing. I had never know what type of person I was back then and knowing more about who I am today and now seeing that I reflected that is very special and interesting to me. This movie holds a dear place in my heart. I’ve learned something valuable from watching this video about not only myself but about the human mind as well
