It's so strange that this never seemed to get much attention. Sort of just appeared and then had a few days in the spotlight then disappeared. It's a really interesting movie, with a really interesting backstory.
I thought this movie was too dark and depressing when I saw it. I was like 12 so cut me some slack but it still doesn’t leave me feeling good at the end you know. I love Coraline.
This film has my respect on so many levels: -Didn't try to cater to children like 100% of animated films do -Wasn't afraid to tell a bleak story that pulled no punches -It's Tim Burton of all people making this movie, why wouldn't I love it?
Shane Acker made it. They put Burton's name all over the marketing to appeal to the Nightmare Before Christmas crowd, but Burton was just a producer on this one.
Fun fact: The Russian dub for the movie actually tweaks the characters to give the movie a more distinctive feel. In this version, 9 is the reincarnation of the Scientist who made him, while the other 8 ragdolls are reincarnations of people who have relations to the Scientist, rather than representing the Scientist's personality. 1 is the dictator, 2 is the Scientist's lab assistant, 3 and 4 are the Scientist's kids, 5 is the doctor who saved the Scientist when the robot uprising began, 6 is the robots' engineer, 7 is the Scientist's wife, and 8 is the dictator's bodyguard.

I would say the same with the Studio Ghibli movie Grave of the Fireflies but honestly that movie isn't for adults either. Holy crap seen it once, once is enough
This movie is masterful, the characters might not be as fleshed out as most people wanted them to be, but they're all literally 9 different fragments of a single person. The theme is dark, and the creators make sure you understand that, killing off characters in the most disturbing (animated) fashion I have ever seen, so probably not meant for the younger minds. It's also got great casting, and their VA isn't the worst. I enjoyed it when I was younger and I still do. Also, Tim Burton... what is there not to love?
Wait, aren't they figuratively fragments of the scientist? Literally would be physical parts of his body, like his fingers or something. Sorry, I just couldn't resist lol

When I first watched this movie I was both in awe and terrified. I watched it again years later and realised that the characters needed fleshing out, but I have an incredible love for 3,4 and 6. They were just the purest little things. Mind, 5 and 2 were amazing as well, and 1 was just doing his best. Idk, this is one of my favourite animated movies ever.
I always wondered, what the actual result of the B.R.A.I.N. machine absorbing every piece of the soul would have been. Would it have paired the intellect with emotion and given it an awakening?
I'm pretty sure if it absorbed all of the scientist's soul, it would have an awakening so to speak. However, giving morality and awareness to the robot which caused all life on earth to be eradicated would not be good
@@NotBeef I think so, it only killed mankind because in its logical mind human forcibly separated it from its creator, so all humans must be evil and killed them all, except for the scientist, which is still alive even after the apocalypse. If it managed to get all the soul pieces, two things could've happened, either the machine would create a better conscience and start to try to revert its actions, or the scientist would be reborn as the machine.
Thank you mom for having me watch this movie as a kid when it came out. By far my favorite movie and the reason I love so many of the things I love growing up today.

They actually don't have the parts of the same soul. IF I remember correctly, 7 is the soul of his wife, 3,4 - their children, 1 was the president or something, some were his friends and so on. Or maybe they are the parts of creators soul, dedicated to each one of these people, like memories idk.

This movie was so formative for me thank you for reminding me it exists
9:10 12 minion out of 9 crayons.
Basically 125% so he must have liked this movie then.
Doesn't work like that, a Minion ≠ a crayon
7:10 bro rolled a d20
"HOW THE FUCK ARE THEY GONNA FUCK MAN-"
Got me laughing to the point where i fell off my chair
Well you know what they say, 7 ate 9- I don’t know what is wrong with my mind m8s!
When I was younger whenever I tried to watch this movie at my uncle's house he would be like "That movies to scary for you" LIKE WHAT?
Why is 1:24 so funny?
“Pregnant coin thingy!” You know what?! That’s the talismans new name now!!!
Still my favorite movie. Thought the fandom was dead and buried but it’s still kicking
this is my favorite movie yet it's so underrated
Lol I’m so happy I found this Channel . It’s like finding a new show that has 6 seasons already so you can just binged.
I remember watching this as a kid, scared me a little at points.
Great animation with a great story.
This movie scarred and fascinated me when I was a child. 10 stitches over 10 dolls
One of my favorite high boi meme moments is when we are introduced to 8 and 1 in this video🤣
REAAAALLLL SHIIITTTTTT
Did you drink my mountain dew?? Lemme smell your breath
5:45 fucking horrifying demon from hell
I loved this movie as a kid and ended up being a coheed and Cambria fan cuz of the trailer and even learned how to play the song on the guitar 😅 I was always bummed they didn’t come out with a sequel or hell, even a tv show.
I think a prequel about the war would be very good
HOW TF IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT HOW 7 IS DEFO GONNA “eat” 9 AND THAT HE DIDNT MAKE A JOKE ABOUT IT
This movie was the main part of my childhood
It's so nice for a change to hear the real names of characters instead of nicknames which always confuses the sh@t out of me.
@@jackdaniels5071 No way. How could I be so blind?
2:49 Ooo, self burn. That's rare
1:59 mustard gas
I loved this movie ever since I was old enough to not be terrified by it
bro why do ppl on youtube bring back this fever dream of a movie always back?
Everybody talking about how "underrated" it is, but did you notice that the videos about the movie here are blowing up? The movie now gets the recognition of the generation that grew up with it. I am proud to be a part of it :)
