Marty. Can’t believe you replied. THANK YOU. I love Australia and as a pro pilot and involved in GPS technology throughout the 1990s I have been to your part of the word many times. I have about 100 1960 / 1970s matchbox cars. I love your channel. I am semi retired and am looking forward to “restoring” them. Your videos are wonderful. Please bear in mind I am not complaining and am sure you have no control. For example, this morning on this video here are the commercials: Time zero when you start - liberty mutual. (Typical on most). 3 min 10 sec - Groupon. 9 min 56 sec - don’t even remember. 17 min 00 sec Liberty mutual. 23 min 20 sec - Liberty mutual. And one at the end. So about 6 or 7. Please just do one a week and enjoy it. Do not feel an obligation. I would rather wait and enjoy high quality worthwhile. Yes dental tools are great. I did a lot of plastic model building, HO trains and radio control stuff. Your regular dentist will be happy to give you some of their “old” tools. Stay away from cheap stuff from online. Enjoy! Ralph. Milford Ohio.
Thank you Ralph for bringing that to my attention. I have no idea how that happened and I'm sure it spoilt the continuity of the video for you and others. I have now rectified this anomaly to my standard of one 5 second 'click to skip' ad at the beginning!
I understand when you say you are busy. My husband is handicapped and enjoys your videos. He's always searching for your work Late a nite will watch old videos. Thank you for sharing!
Great video as always! In case you're interested, I worked for the Douglas organisation for some time, based in their Birmingham, UK head office. Sir Robert Douglas founded the firm as civil engineering contractors, mainly relating to concreting works. In the 50's/60's the firm were heavily involved in building the main motorway system in the UK, including works in and around Birmingham using gravel extracted from a patch of land across the road from the offices! When finished, the gravel pits were landscaped and are now a beautiful park, much used by the staff for fresh air at lunch times!! So it's good to see one of the firm's wagons still in use, even if it half a world away....Sir Robert would be proud!
Marty, don't worry one video a week is great, you don't have to break your neck. We all appreciate your time and effort. Your videos are my weekly relaxation. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for taking the time to entertain me with the restorations. And bonus points for showing you turning on the fan in the spray booth. Health and safety first!
It's an AEC (Associated Equipment Company) Mammoth Major. They became part of Leyland Commercials. Great video Marty, always enjoy them thanks. I'm in the uk.
Your videos have gone up a level, by inserting stills, proper display of all separate parts, and your camera angles as well. And your green screen running gags are hilarious. Hats off to Marty!
One of my favourite castings, used to ride in the cab of one of these as a kid with a friends dad. Slow and loud with plenty of time to see the countryside. ' Top Job Fella'
Marty: I really just wanted to say how much I appreciate the time you put into your video's for our enjoyment. You should be proud of the many hours of sharing your craftsmanship and love of Matchbox toy's. They transport us back to a time of innocence and wonder when we were children. Thank you again and keep up the good work!!!
I call it a bobbin sander. The Dremel isn’t a tool I use often but when I do need it, it’s the only tool that will do for the job! Very handy little thing!
I like the idea that the AEC stands for the Atomic Energy Commission, and they use the truck to haul off atomic waste. So, If your yard glows at night, you know they've been dumping in your neighborhood. Good job, Marty! Always fun to watch. And you need to keep a closer eye on Kevin.
Another quality video! I really appreciate how you take the extra time to include the sight gags and other jokes, it adds so much to your videos and elevates them above simple restoration videos. They instead become genuine pieces of entertainment. I think my favorite was the “Tank Invasion”. Again, terrific work!
I'm not a Matchbox car collector. My hobby is railroad modelling. But your videos are so good that looking for a new one is the first thing I do when I start the computer. Great job, Marty !
Seven twits gave this the thumbs down. Seriously? Why would you not like this? It was twenty four minutes and eighteen seconds of therapeutic joy. Thanks man.
Marty, you constantly twang my sentimental nerve but the Douglas tipper almost made me cry. Not only did I have the model, literally hundreds of the real ones used to rumble past my old school , Greenholm Road in Birmingham UK when they built the M6 back in the mid to late 60s. Keep up the good work chap.
As ever, a fantastic makeover. Your videos are getting better all the time and especially love the bloopers at the end, it just goes to show it's not all plain sailing when making your videos.
Just watched this one while eating my breakfast as I am on my own working away from home. As usual from you, a wonderful video. What a great way to start the day!
No worries Marty, 1 video a week is just fine. I get it nice and early Saturday morning and sit on the back porch with coffee while I watch, great way to start the day!
Another great resto, these videos frequently bring back a memory of a model that i had as a kid in the UK in the 50s and 60s. I recall an articulated horse box with a ford Thames trader prime mover, i had to jam a small piece of paper in the tail gate to keep it closed. And memories of others that i haven't thought of since i was a kid .
Hello! I say thanks for you videos. sometimes watching your video is only thing that make me feel better. It is freshing to remember that one can find joy in small things like old toys, perhaps thats why it's so pure because you don't have to take it so adult-serious but serious like childrens play. Greetings from Finland.
Really nice work on this model. I especially like the details of the door handles, I have often wondered why you never painted them before. It really sharpens up the model. Thanks for the work.
Marty, this is to me is your best video yet! Very smooth and well narrated. Maybe your best restoration as well, much better than the yellow truck. Thank you for producing such fun and interesting videos.
I really liked how this one turned out. Great job also I like seeing the problems along the way it really makes me appreciate how much goes into thesel little makeovers.
Another great restoration Marty. My mum worked at the Matchbox factory in the sixties on a press machine. I had a chat with her about it last weekend. Dad still has some boxed vehicles in the loft from that time.
Yes. When my brother and I were young Mum did all types of different jobs. So we were given cars when she was at Matchbox and ice cream when she was working at Lyons Maid!
I used to have a couple of the Douglas 8 wheeled tippers and they were my favorites so this was a very neat tutorial to watch. You have a lot of helpful tips in this as well. Thanks for taking time to share this with us.
Imagine...If I hadn't watched this today, I never would have learned about that bus they finally found buried at the South Pole. I was beginning to lose sleep over the whereabouts of that poor bus. Great vids! I'm getting ideas about how to occupy my time when I retire.
I just love you're subtle humour, also the sparks flying towards the end was a great affect. Another great source of chrome paint is White Knights super chrome or gold aerosol paint, just spray a little into the lid for small jobs. You can find it at Bunnings hardware. Cheers.
LMAO! Marty, you always seem so prim and proper throughout the videos then we get to the outtakes and realize you're human just like the rest of us. 😄 Great video. Awesome looking truck.
once again a cool video. I drive a 4-axle truck myself, that's why I found it very special. and right at the beginning I thought about how you would put it into scene. I thought so with the dump. but also in the authentic work clothes - yeah - well done!
I just bought the yellow variation today in fair shape at a local diecast show for $3.00 Now to find this orange version soon 😎 love how you made yours look. Cheers Marty 👍🏼👍🏼
First: I don't know Marty so no ulterior motive - head on over and support Marty on Patreon. Those supplies cost $. I personally think he deserves a bit of my $ since UA-cam don't pay squat. Second: Marty - I believe I speak for most when I say the moment this starts to be a chore with your day job decrease the video count like only record every other restoration. Doing the recording has to triple the time it takes to do one of these. Third: There are few if any UA-cam channels that consistently bring a smile to my growly mug. Always with your videos Marty. Thank you.
If the container with the silver paint is tight to open , rather than using grips to undo the top run hot water over the top for a couple of minutes and the top will come off easily .Or sit the container in a small bowl of near boiling water will also soften the paint as well stop it getting gluggy . Great video by the way 👍
Your close-up shots are getting really good! Always nice to see Kevin, even if he did take a dump on you. .. probably for all that salty language. He must have delicate sensibilities, I suppose. Thanks for this great project and sharing the really great result.
Your videos have become a highlight of my week. I'm always looking forward to the Continuing Adventures of Kevin. 🐨🐨🐨 And that Molotow chrome paint is remarkable.
Marty, you've inspired me. I've begun my own restorations and now, you have a be fan.I'd live to actually get in contact with you and pick your brain about some I'd my own rebuilds...
Another awesome restoration, Marty! Always a pleasure! I found a great technique to loosen stuck Tamiya lids, run it under a hot water faucet for a minute or two, softens the dried paint and loosens it quite nicely. I've also noticed the metallic tamiya's thicken a lot, must be the pigments.
Another excellent video Marty. Gee you must be busy working full time as well as this! So happy you keep the videos coming. My brain is fried from all the work I do so really appreciate your vids .cheers Marty
Sad to see you succumb to commercialization of your passion. Four or more adverts. Not happy....
I need to check that didnt know there was 4 ads up

Curious - I didn’t have any.
No adds while I viewed it. Another great video

One a week, one in two weeks, it doesn't matter. We will come here to enjoy your films as long as you enjoy doing them. Please don't rush it!
Thanks Mate

It's an AEC (Associated Equipment Company) Mammoth Major. They became part of Leyland Commercials. Great video Marty, always enjoy them thanks. I'm in the uk.
Yeah, I just found that myself.
AEC was also the manufacturer of the chassis of the traditional London buses, like the one in your 'newspaper', so two AECs in one video!
That was fun. Makes my day to wake up to your videos. Thanks to Julie for being supportive also.
Thanks Wthrmm Pechin i shall pass you thanks onto Julie!
Marty you inspire me to bring my childhood back, to make my precious ones shine once more! Thank you.
Your videos have gone up a level, by inserting stills, proper display of all separate parts, and your camera angles as well. And your green screen running gags are hilarious. Hats off to Marty!

I’m loving the orange! Very nice finish!
Me too, looks great as well as the lemon coloured one, hats off to Matchbox!
Great restoration with wonderful humor as always.
Another childhood memory resurrected.
Thank you, Marty.

Just watched this one while eating my breakfast as I am on my own working away from home. As usual from you, a wonderful video. What a great way to start the day!
I Enjoy watching your makeovers all the time They're quite therapeutic there!.
Alright, the humor is getting real subtle and dry. I love it. Love it. Love it. Keep being you Sir!
Nothing like a Marty video with morning coffee. Truck looks great, and I love the addition of the reproduction box.
Yeah! - Thought I would throw that in for something different! - Glad you liked it!
It's still amazing the amount of detail matchbox cars have from this time period
I know , I never noticed as a kid but now with a new appreciation of these models I am amazed at the details!
No worries Marty, 1 video a week is just fine. I get it nice and early Saturday morning and sit on the back porch with coffee while I watch, great way to start the day!
Simple pleasures. We get you.
Briliant job with superb attention to detail. Great job on the paint and decal.
1 or 2 quality videos is better than 5 not as great videos. Take your time and remember to enjoy what you do. Thanks for the videos!
Thanks mate, i try my best! :)
Agree👍
I had two of the Douglas trucks when I was a boy. Thanks for doing such a great job.
Thanks for yet another soothing video. "A bit fiddly, but doable," is now my go-to expression for awkward or difficult tasks and situations.
Looks like someone is mowing the yard again that is as soon as you can get yourself out of there. Another awesome build look forward to the next

Me too , I had my doubts about the silver but turned out really good in the end.

Turned out Fantastic Marty, looks like Kevin got his revenge for the mowing of the lawn!
I know! - The little Pri++k!
Ain't it a great feeling when you don't have to mix any colours and you've got the colour straight from the shelf
OOOOh... yeah!!!! :)
Another beautiful restoration. Love the Orange color.
Me too Jerome, the other one in the lemon yellow was good too!
Marty, this is to me is your best video yet! Very smooth and well narrated. Maybe your best restoration as well, much better than the yellow truck. Thank you for producing such fun and interesting videos.
the dumb truck looks great and that vintage newspaper is pretty fresh for a thirty year old periodical
Nice restoration, looks like the day it was made.

Really love what you do, it looks better than new. Just beautiful.
Gives me the inspiration to go do mine!
Go for it!

Professional quality video! Amazing job not only on the restoration, but the photography.editing as well. 👍🏻
You really nailed this one, it’s perfect!
Love the projects and of course the humor Marty. I especially enjoy the interactive scenes now and the outtakes! LOL

What can I say Marty! It looks brand new right out of the package lol it’s that great of a job! Thank you for sharing!
Just finished watching your first video, awesome work and skill !!! Love watching your videos ❤
Great trick with the greaseproof paper Mate
It's great for that wheel wash, haven't found another use for it yet though!
LMAO! Marty, you always seem so prim and proper throughout the videos then we get to the outtakes and realize you're human just like the rest of us. 😄 Great video. Awesome looking truck.
Thanks for watching Weston Ward, I thought that I would make it real and show that it's not all 'Beer and Skittles!'. :)
"I get a lot of pleasure out of it."
As do we sir. Thank you for making the time.
Thanks Phil, so glad that you enjoy my weekly uploads!

Now to find this orange version soon 😎 love how you made yours look.

And what I like best? Your sense of humor
Great job!
Idea for video: Go through the process how you like to clean your air brush.
SingleStacked Yes please!
i think thats one of the best finishes you've done !
Thanks so much for your support!
Lovely restoration there, well done. Cool ending too 😊
The Douglas, pointer, and the hoveringham are my favorite trucks.
What an awesome truck. I remember it when I was a child
Love it. One of my favorites! Looks better than new!

Good job, they look beautiful.
Thanks Rob. I agree!
Great Work as Always

The clips with the magnets are a good idea for holding the freshly painted parts while they dry.
I bought two and now I can't find them anywhere. If you see any buy at least 6 they are so handy.

Julie's toothbrush really gets multi-use workouts....lol! We call it wax paper in the U.S., and a "Tipper" is called a "Dump Truck". Great video.
