Lyrics:
doin it right, on a weird night
(vrs):
between 3 and 6 when my big ideas hit
green freeways, green freeways, driving fast, at last
its hard to be fake with nobody else awake
I can live how I live baby, hanging hard, working hard
(ch):
In the weird part of the night, yeah
thats the time I feel alright, yeah
all the bull s--- goes away, oh yeah
then it comes back during the day, yeah
doin it right, on a weird night
(vrs 2):
between 3 and 6 when no one can f--- your s---
so in touch, thats the best, send that girl a risky text
thrill seeking, gland squeezing, give your life meaning
that spot on the clock, when the world can't throw you off
(ch again)
(insane throat slap vocal run)
(ch again)
He feels like a lost Earthbound boss.
EarlyEJ he looks like one too in this video
Probably never came to the us because of Nintendo...
Lmao
**You engage the Funky Gold Singer and its cohorts.**
I'm pretty sure he came over with John Lithgow during Buckaroo Banzai.
What in Jesus' name did I just watch?
And why was it so awesome?
Brilliant, underrated, one of my favorite songs.
I see you got great tastes !
this man has taste
Oh damn, Bobby Duke's here.
... I like thayat.
W- wait...
Weird walking Bobby...
Weird walking Louis...
*Gasp*
oh hey! ahaha didn’t expect to see you here
Imagine not being able to sleep, deciding to go on a walk (for some reason) and seeing this guy on the road dancing and singing
As someone who is currently writing this at two in the morning my answer is a firm and enthusiastic "I'd fucking join him"
This more or likely happened to someone too lmfaoo 😭😭
Join them
this boi was prolly doin this vid alone
bet da 2 gurls r just other insomniacz who decided 2 join in
You'd probably just go "oh he's hit that point too"
I can’t believe there’s a legit song about that time of night where no one else in the house is awake and it’s just you and your Nintendo
Around 3 for me sometimes lol
Sega Genesis
Hey also 5:00 AM lol.
3 to 6 sounds about right
*just you and your studio
If this guy was around during the 80's & early 90's he would be famous and rich.
He is famous
Well now !
He reminds me of vanilla ice
Herbie Hancock, Thundercat, Flying Lotus, and Vulfpeck dig him so...
Why focus on his popularity? Popularity has zero to do with talent as seen in a lot of cases. What's important is that this guy has dedicated cult followers that appreciate his talent, and that too me is more special than divulging his fans worldwide and having him potentially succumb to the celebrity life and destroying his independence and therefore uniqueness.
I’m going to listen to this until I hate it
Omg.. hahahahaha!!!
I've been trying for about a year. Still not hating it.
Me at every song I rlly like
Any success?
I’m on my second year and probably thirtieth time trying to convince myself I hate it and that it’s not one of my favorite songs
not working
Dude. It's only a matter of time. Enjoy your undergroundness for now.
How the fuck is he still not wicked popular?!?!
He is really. They won't play him on mainstrean channels unless he's owned by Sony, Warners, or Univeral. They've got it all sewn up now. Louis would make all the rest of their product look bland and mediocre so they probably won't risk it. Bieber shaped cardboard dildos making wack slosh are much safer for them.
Indeed. He's very close to capturing the Chainsmoker's audience. The only thing they have over him is "sentimental lyrics" that resonate with millennial chicks! Lol Harmonically, rhythmically and compositionally...he smokes them :-) In fact, if he opened for them they'd have to have him join their set, because the energy drop would be intolerable.
crimsondesolation Knower opening for RHCP sounds like the best concert night ever to me! Awesome! :D
Singing skills probably not strong enough for mainstream career. But does he want that?
Someone should go check on the green one and make sure she survived the fall
LMAO XDDDDD
btw she's called margo
Cy broccoli!
@@Lessembarrassingman i guess XD
Eh....wait no sure. If she's dead i can have a new cape.
She survived shooting herself in the face. She fine.
This is... modern earthbound music
It looks like some sort of earthbound battle screen at times

This isn’t the only comment that said this.
Man who hasn't quite figured out walking yet approaches!
The whole song obviously rules but my favourite part is whenever Genevieve's headband blinks in time to the music
Weird how I just noticed that after watching the video for the 50th time! Then I read the comments and boom you've noticed it too :D
Did you guys ever collab?
well noticed!
LilDeuceDeuce I caught that too! So awesome!

The ministry of silly walks would accept Louis in an instant

I'm not so sure- I mean, the right leg isn't silly at all and the left leg merely does a forward aerial half turn every alternate step.

So funky he can't walk straight
First time seeing and hearing this song. How freaking awesome!
Seriously...Dive into the Louis Cole Rabbit-hole!
2:58 Genevieve's antennae blinking in sync with the synth is a wildly specific touch
I love Louis coles dancing, he’s moves like a an action figure being shaken around
Or a game character glitching
Have you tried registering in the ministry of silly walks?
Research grant!
When I first read that, I thought it said silky and it was some kind of slang. I would also enjoy a ministry of silky walks as well.
check out silly walks by monty python if you didnt already, its hilarious
Stop that. It's silly.
No need to registering for a ministry job, he should go for president : even hilary can't beat him, he's unstopable
I love that Louis seems to get that music videos are kind of a dumb, necessary part of being a known musician. Knower and LC have cultivated this low budget, sarcastic music video aesthetic that totally works for their music. It feels like Louis just says, "Yeah, put some dorky looking pants on me and I'm going to dance around like a spaz", it's great and works so well with their music.
And clowncore
Louis Cole is like the foil to Jacob Collier.
Jacob's out here singing with a grin and open arms from the rooftops about how great and wonderful and soulful and happy and curative music is.
Louis is sitting in a port-a-potty slamming out sarcastic virtuoso jazz/grind and winking while he says "yeah but it pretty dumb tho."
I honestly don't think he believes there's anything dumb about them. He is creating an entire aesthetic with these things lol. It's more than just music to him.
Sarcastic implies that making music videos is something he doesn't want to do and doesn't enjoy. He's definitely having fun with them and you can plainly see it's something he wants to do. This is just his aesthetic.
@@pickledparsleyparty I'd love to see them collab though, I bet they'd make something wild together.
Things I love about this video/song:
1. Victoriously emerging from dumpster @ 1:14
2. Look on face during "risky text" 1:22
3. Those outro chords at 3:06
4. The overall socially awkward/confident/wildly talented ways
5. Makes me feel better about music/humanity.
Dear Louis,
Thank you. We love you.
6. The trance-like pilgrimage to the food store at 3am
I spesifically fuckin can not get enought of that drum transition at 1:38
8 that sort of 8 bit style wich is used expertly used throughout the song

He made not being able to sleep sound cool
Ohhhh hell yeah HAHA
I love this song.
The fact this song made the NBA2K22 soundtrack five years later brings me so much joy. I lost it the first time I heard it in the game, so happy for Louis. Also a testament to how ahead of its time this song was.

He plays guitar, too

Legitimate lo-fi epic.
Louis, I think you are an absolute genius!!
I have been a huge Prince fan for 35 years and admired him for his overall funkiness and DIY attitude. I was heartbroken when he died last year and thought I would never witness anyone as creative and funky as him again.
Fast forward one year and voila, I found out about you and your music this week and I have to admit I am completely hooked! Your musicality, your attitude, your creativity and your ability to mix (and operate in) different genres is totally awesome and excites me the way Prince's music excited me in my teenage years. You are the complete package and you totally fit the Zeitgeist. Your music and videos put a huge smile on my face everytime I listen/watch.
Keep doing what you are doing and never stop believing in yourself, you are an exceptional talent. Please stay authentic and never sell out, even if it means no big money you will have our everlasting adulation. And please never ever stop making music: your music is a great gift and a breathe of fresh air in this corporate controlled world.
I wish you and your music all the best!

Ok...The video is intriguing. The disjointed dancing in MC Hammer pants and period punctuation of the melody by the lights of genevieve's bug eye headpiece is just another hidden jewel along with Louis vibrato generated by the two fingers to the throat......damn, this is some funny interesting stuff.
This has been my alarm for having to wake up at 4 for morning shift for the last 6 months.
Along with the resounding Bass phrases and modes, and the stunning arrangements, I am drawn to the ' living room made' effect very very much. KNOWER has class and refraining from the MEGA PRODUCED SLICK SMOOTH SILKY SHOWSTOPPER is a big reason I like them so much. They come across as friends I had in college, and I am now 62 years old. So while I wont be attending any mad wild concerts, I am dancing and feeling coles magnificent arrangements of exciting beauty, and swimming in mid air to Gueniviues vouce and melodies.
