Imagine what it must be like living next to this house, you're just going about your day relaxing, and then all of a sudden the sickest baselines in the world come blasting through the air accompanied by a full fucking band out of nowhere, and then just as suddenly as it started, it stops, and you realise just how empty your life is and how you long to hear that music again.
Basslines. GDI phone

I would like to live next to this house.

This is awesome
Oh my fuck yes
There isn’t a moment in his career where he hasn’t had his snares tuned to perfection
not to mention that fucking perfect kick sound
@@xRickAstleyx yup
Nah, you're thinking of Lars Ulrich. St. Anger especially.
I find it hilarious that one of the best drummers out there, Nate Wood, is just next to Louis hitting a water kettle.
and there are three backing singers on the porch who don’t sing.
@@dewimatthews they do sing tho
He's playing arguably the one part that can fuck it up.
The claves must be the rock that everything stands on.
That's why Louis puts him right by his ear.
I have just noticed him on my tenth replay of this video. Made my day :)
@@pavelhoral Yeah, it took me a while as well.
Someday I want to love something as much as Sam Wilkes loves playing bass

I think the bass loves him back.
That's why the relationship works because they love each other.

He's a beast.
The guy banging the pot is actually an incredible multi-instrumentalist. It's like having a basketball game and making Steph Curry the towel guy.
Or when Nathan For You makes a band and puts the guitarist on the smoke detector
Hes nate wood, cool guy
He looks like Putin.

but he said FUCK 13 times, is it a sin ?
I knew you would show!
Nate wood playing a pot is one of the greatest inside jokes in music history to this point.
This has to be one of the greatest videos I've ever watched, the moment he goes down the stairs and there is just a whole band waiting - wow.
“Hello officer. My neighbor has a full fucking band playing next outdoor. This isn’t a noise complainant. It’s just funky as hell. Get down here!”
That's like that moment in Fats Waller's soundie of "The Joint is Jumpin' " where the cops show up to haul everyone off to jail and instead stay and start dancing.
I'd love to live next-door to him
...and I already thought it was a cool video when he was just playing keyboard with a mannequin butt stand.
Better bottom end, apparently...
I wonder if he was inspired by Chromeo, seems like something they'd do

No lie! Band kids in their final form

So apparently I've been living under a rock, because I'm just now finding out about Louis Cole. Damn.
How far down the rabbit hole of Cole have you gone now? 😊

So this is why the MMX is taking so long. We really can't blame you!
No wonder Thundercat wrote his new song "I Love Louis Cole." I think I love Louis Cole too as a musician. The music in this is phenomenal and the idea for the video entirety was ingenious.

Wasn't sure if anyone spotted that! I wasn't alone then! 😅
One minute earlier Igor Stravinsky makes a surprise appearance in the lower right corner. I initially thought it was Gustav Holst, also known for dissonant spicy intervals and wearing similar glasses but the same picture pops up when I Google Stravinsky. Apparently Louis Cole knows what he's doing, although he claims he hardly does.
His drum tempo is so insane, it almost sounds like bongos. Amazeballs.
He's on record admitting that he used to sleep with a metronome under his pillow
@@BennyboyTruth wow that’s cool as shit
Discovering Louis Cole, Vulfpeck, and Thundercat in the same year for me has made me want to start playing bass and making music again.
Now look for Marc Rebillet and do you a favor, you're welcome xD
Same! As a leftie open-hand drummer I am so inspired and somehow the beats feel so... natural
This is only one of the reasons why Louis Coles stands out so much when compared to other musicians. This casual humor is just, insane.
Casual humor plus awesome musicianship is a winning recipe.
The "Who Cares" at the end got me.
You know about Clown Core, right?
scowell Are they D.C. based?
Check out Ceephax Acid Crew for a similar vibe
I like how I started thinking this was a video of a guy rehearsing his song by himself, pre recording every line. Then he just casually has a big band downstairs...
i mean the beginning on it's own is killer, the addition of the band even more, BUT THEN THE STRAVINSKY LINES??? A TROMBONE SOLO SECTION?????? THIS MAN AND THIS BAND ARE A GIFT TO HUMANITY
I was about to close the tab at 1:24. Can you imagine.

It's 2024 and I still lose it when that guy pulls the knife out 🤣
I listened to this song for the first time a few weeks ago and couldn't figure out why the main hook sounded so familiar. Finally figured it out that it was "Dance of Doom" from the Lego Ninjago movie soundtrack. I pull up the song so I can listen to the original and it's credited to Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi aka Knower. Mind. Blown.
this is the anthem of a new generation
There is a lot more happening than people realize:

My Top 10 favorite things about this music video:
1. The big band reveal from what starts as a solo live looping song.
2 - 10. The various faces of the base player.
Right...he musta ate a can of beans for dinner the night before
Sam Wilkes is such a beast
2-5: The face of the guy playing the Juno at 3:09

"Oh he's gone down here to get a big deal drumset to jam to the loop-"
"AN ENTIRE CONCERT BAND?!"
I swear... I could be having the shittiest damn day, and all of a sudden I put this on... And I'm transported to a world that don't give a shit about my depression... This song makes me smile.
when Louis Cole says "come over to my house," you go.
"Plastic ninjas in your room, they're all doin' the Dance of Doom"

Hahaha right? It's a more mature version! ;D
Conceptual continuity or maybe motif 🤘🏽
Almost 4 million people knew about this before I did. Incredible.
the sudden reveal of the full band is so good
Bass dude is having SO MUCH FUN!
As all bass dudes should
YES
He's feeling that shit!
He is a fucking monster of a bass player. You can tell he is into it everytime.
Sam Wilkes is the man. Him and Joe Dart from Vulfpeck are the funkiest of bass players.
I'm an old guy. I've seen Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, and on and on. This is hands down, one of my favorite songs ever. I've heard it probably 100 times. Louis is a musical genius. The entire crew is so damned good. Thanks.
Check out his recently released KNOWER album, it's everything Cole & co. in around an hour. Amazing.
@@computer_toucheri second this. KNOWER are going to be huge. Greetings from Australia ❤
I feel like in the 80's again... I'm from the 90's, but never mind.
Jesus Christ... IMO: Everything about this song is truly original, unique, and has never been done before. Most of the time, on endeavors such as this, the vast majority of art just doesn't work out and artists tend to drift back to "what everybody else is going" average mean. But this guy seems to have created an everlasting masterpiece which'll be hard to top due to the sheer creative elements factor set to infinity ♾️

I wish I could watch this video for the first time again, and get the full band surprise! Also the "yeah" choir might seem corny at first, but that one note is actually what holds it all together!
