How To Crochet Granny Squares

Thank you for watching my video on how to make crochet granny squares!
There are a ton of projects, like tote bags and blankets, you can make once you know this first step. So stay tuned for when I post a video on what I make with my granny squares.
Step by step:
Make slip knot
Chain 4 (yarn over, pull through)
Each “V” is a chain
Put your hook back into the first chain
Yarn over and pull through both loops
chain 2
Now to create a double crochet:
Yarn over and put your hook into the center of the circle
Yarn over again and pull through
(You should have 3 loops on you hook)
Yarn over and pull through the first 2
Yarn over and pull through another 2
First chain counts as 1, we just did the second double crochet
Add one more double crochet to create a group of 3 double crochets
(This whole project will be working in groups of 3 double crochets)
Now chain two before starting your next set of 3 double crochets
For this section youll need 4 sets of 3 double crochets
To join, you’ll find the top of the original chain, go into the top stitch and yarn over and pull through all 3 loops
Chain one stitch, keep the loop there, cut off tail and pull through and tighten
Use a yarn needle to hide tails
Now pick your next color
Good side facing up,
Put your hook into a corner space and grab a loop of yarn and pull through
Yarn over with both strands and pull through
Now drop the tail and chain 2
Create your first set of 3 double crochets
Each corner hole will have 2 sets of 3 double crochets, separated by chaining 2
Do not chain 2 when going from one corner hole to the next, only corners will have a chain 2
Once you’ve gone all the way around, connect them and move on to your next color
Once you’ve attached your new color in the corner again,
Make your two sets of 3 double crochets
(Since its a corner remember to separate your double crochets with a chain 2)
Then add one set of 3 double crochets in the side hole (remember not to chain 2 before starting your next set of double crochets)
Complete the whole square and join where you started.
By now you should be able to rinse and repeat as many times as you want until youre happy with the size of your granny square!
