Knowing Nirvana played 45 minutes away from my house twice when they played at Maxwell's in Hoboken NJ on July 13, 1989 and April 28, 1990 and then 30 minutes away from my house at City Gardens Trenton NJ on September 27, 1991. When Nirvana played in NJ for the first time on July 13, 1989 at Maxwell's, Hoboken, NJ they played at J.C. Dobbs in Philadelphia PA on July 12, 1989 so Nirvana had to drive down the highway pass my house to get up to Hoboken NJ to play at Maxwell's on July 13, 1989 so Nirvana Drove passed my town then played a show 45 minutes away from my house (Kurdt also smashed his Univox Hi-Flier guitar which is my favorite guitar model) and also that show was the first time Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon (of Sonic Youth) and J. Mascis (of Dinosaur JR.) First seen and met Nirvana as they were brought to the show by Susie Tennant (who worked for Sonic Youth). After the first few chords of the Opening song Thurston and J went up front to the stage and stayed there the entire show. Then after Nirvana's show they all hung-out. Unfortunately I was only 7 months old but If I was old enough I would of been able to see Nirvana Live, maybe get to keep a piece of Kurt's Smashed Univox Hi-Flier, and would of got to also meet Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and J. Mascis of Dinosaur JR. Then the second time Nirvana played in NJ was again at Maxwell's in Hoboken, NJ some Footage of this show is seen in the Alternate Sub Pop In Bloom Music Video (the parts where Kurt is wearing the Mudhoney "Big Muff" T-shirt and is playing his Home-Made Hybrid Surf Green Mustang (that footage from the Sub Pop Alternate In Bloom Music Video was flimed at Maxwell's Hoboken NJ on April 28, 1990). Then the third and final time Nirvana played in NJ was at the legendary Punk Venue City Gardens in Trenton, NJ on September 27, 1991. (Ironically at the 09/27/91 City Gardens Trenton NJ show Kurt is wearing the same Flannel Kurt wore at the first NJ show Nirvana played at Maxwell's on July 13, 1989 and underneath he is wearing the Mudhoney Big Muff T-shirt which Kurt wore at the second Maxwell's show on April 28, 1990. And on September 27, 1991 Kurt is wearing both of them.... Though the 07/13/89 show I was 7 months old, the 04/28/90 show I was 16 months old and the 09/27/91 show I was almost 3 years old. Though the 2 shows at Maxwell's, Hoboken and the one show at City Gardens, Trenton were the only 3 shows Nirvana ever played in New Jersey.... But Nirvana did do their Rehearsals for MTV Unplugged on November 16 & 17, 1993 at SST INC. Rehearsal Facility In Weehawken, NJ (but obviously these were private Rehearsals and not open to the Public). Would of been Amazing to have been front row to all 3 Nirvana shows and also been allowed to watch their private Rehearsals for MTV Unplugged... (These are not the Unplugged Rehearsals from November 18, 1993 at Sony Music Studios, New York, NY that is Included on the MTV Unplugged DVD.
