    my first gig....moshed, crowd surfed, shifted some cute bird, drank a nagging of vodka in one go, sang and danced like loon....i formed a band with my mates shortly after this...and the 3 of us still jam to this day!...ah, the 90's.....

      Dude, that's seriously super rad. I'm envious you got to see them live, they've been my favorite band since I was 11 yrs old in '92 I just think it's so awesome that Nirvana inspired so many to start a band, including myself. Anyway, cheers to a fellow Nirvana fan.

      @Jefferson Andres Araujo Mendoza That's because Kurt blew his voice after touring for 7 months plus the hard use of drugs. Krist told that they tuned half step lower because it was easier for kurt to sing.

      @TheJean590. While tuning down a half step does make some things easier to sing it’s also a staple of the heavy sound of the northwest bands. It just makes stuff sound heavier. Down tuning was something Kurt (and lots of others AIC, GnR, The Beetles, Stevie ray Vaughan and a ton more). During the pre-bleach stuff like the Dale Demo they use E-flat and Bleach has Floyd, Paper Cuts, Blew (drop C). Then in order to sound poppier/lighter Nevermind was in standard except for Drain You, I think. And everything post 1992 is back to e flat.

    Just under 22 years ago, on my 15th birthday I went to see the first major gig of my life. Nirvana at the Point Theatre in Dublin. It would be the second and last time they played in Ireland. I couldn't see much of the gig as I was about 5'4" at the time and midway back but it was still an electrifying set. Can't believe someone made this pretty passable (by modern standards) recording and put it up on YT in May last year. Happy days! Nice job poster!

      I was born in 1981 and didn't get to see them. I didn't go to my first concert until I was like 14. Back then I liked Nirvana but I really didn't get into them until I was a lot older. I remember when the grunge look took over my middle school. I never even wore a flannel until like 1995. The girls were a lot more hardcore than the boys that I can remember.

    First time I ever felt old at a gig (all of 25). The screams of young girls were just like in Beatles footage. Had a girl on my shoulders for most of the gig because she couldn't see anything. This gig was originally supposed to be in McGonagles (a small venue) but in a few short weeks Nirvana became one of the biggest bands on the planet. Wished they'd waited a few more weeks.. Great to see this though.

    Jaysus. Just Googled this thinking there's no chance there's a recording. Thank you for uploading. I was there, aged 23. I'm not 23 any more. I'm quite elderly now. It was really full on up the front and after a half hour I had to get the f* outta there. It wasn't a great gig in fairness. Kurt was pretty disengaged and the Point was lousy. They never came back. Never mind.

      +Alexander Share I'm pretty sure this was actually the point where he was "in and out of rehab, holed up in this apartment in LA,painting and doing heroin" based on the dates. would love to be wrong, at the very least I found this performance and most others at this point in their career rushed, distracted and very sloppy

    • @phoxjawlivearchive
      @phoxjawlivearchive 8 років тому +4

      He had red hair that he was doing that, at its peak either way. He was in and out of rehab at this point, so he was most probably taking less, to get a better high, which would have just made him less groggy in general. I think he was just getting back into the swing of playing shows again, so he was just relearning shit - on stage. Classic Kurt haha.

    I was there too - aged 16, someone’s parents drove us down from Belfast (fair play to them, on reflection!). Have to confess I was slightly disappointed with Nirvana - in retrospect Kurt was obviously not in a good place. The Breeders - as the relatively unknown backing band (Kim Deal aside) - really rocked it though and turned us into big fans from that day on.

    Having listened to this I wonder how I ever remotely liked the junkie and his band. I am glad I have moved on though. I guess I was an impressionable teen who would listen to shite back then and this is exactly that......shite.

    • @manovpeace7110
      @manovpeace7110 8 років тому

      ***** I don't listen to mainstream rap. I did however used to listen to that junkie Cobain and his mates when I was a teenager. Shocking stuff. Cobain had not got a clue what to do with a guitar.

    • @manovpeace7110
      @manovpeace7110 8 років тому

      ***** The wonders of a studio make them sound good on albums. A live performance shows them up for what they really were.

    • @manovpeace7110
      @manovpeace7110 8 років тому

      ***** Not really Mark. Nirvana were shit. Put a band on a stage and you soon figure out how good they are. Nirvana were one of the worst live bands ever.
      For some reason you asked me about rap music!

    • @manovpeace7110
      @manovpeace7110 8 років тому

      ***** The very least I expect when I go to listen tot a band is the band being able to play their instruments and after that being able to play together. Cobain ensured that Nirvana could do neither. The man was a junkie. Nothing more.
      I never mentioned that I wanted a crisp and perfect sound from a live band.
      Nirvana were brutal. Totally brutal.
      You are correct. There are plenty of bands who sound shit live. They all fall into the category known as 'Shit Bands' along with Nirvana.

    • @manovpeace7110
      @manovpeace7110 8 років тому

      ***** they were so successful because at the time teenagers like me bought into their hype. They were 'sold' to the world and we never really gave the quality of the music a thought. There are plenty of Nirvana fans who look back and think the same way. Besides, most of their record sales are from emo pricks in the years since the junkie blew his head off.
