How to get on and off the stage during an orchestra concert, when you are not needed for every piece. My story of how I learned how it works. Stage etiquette. Hawaiiflute
Did that once! But at the end of the piece instead. Someone played a concerto, they got their applause, she and the conductor walked off stage briefly, cane back for more bows, walked off again. Since I was the only person who had joined for this one piece (I forget if it was like 3rd flute or oboe), I thought they were done since the applause had stopped, but then they both came back on the stage for another bow, which is when I practically ran into the soloist!
Often, but not always, that's worked out at rehearsal. Either the conductor, assistant conductor or concert meister or meistress...(howsabout how I worked that one out)...anyway, it's often a rehearsal discussion.

Not the worst offense but we do need to read the room so to speak, eh? Brava.
Yep!
