I love the Myth of Medusa - and I mean the actual one, that most people don't even know. He snake hair wasn't a curse at all but a gift instead after Medusa got r*ped by Poseidon. Athene gave her snake hair that would turn anyone who looked at her into stone to protect her from further unwanted advances from other men.

It was a curse. Athena could not punish her Uncle because he was a god and so cursed her because her temple had been compromised. The sacrilege made her so angry that she had to punish someone. She was pregnant and could not give birth until Perseus chopped her head off. Then she gave birth to Pegasus and Chrysaor.

"gift" Poseidon r*ped medusa in athenas' temple therefore in good old fashioned Greek mythology style, she punished the victim because she know she can't punish the abuser (i.e. every myth about Hera punishing some poor mortal because Zeus decided to r*pe them or just straight up impregnate them as a "golden shower".
My point being, sure now she won't have unwanted advances, but now she's doomed to a fate of being known as 'that monster Perseus killed when she was sleeping' (using a shield he was given by Athena herself no less). What happened to medusa was no gift or a mercy, it was petty revenge on the victim because she couldn't punish the abuser.

Athena cursed her because she blamed her beauty and was jealous of Medusa.
Medusa was so beautiful that made all people love her and Athena didn’t like this and when Poseidon raped Medusa, Athena used this to blame the Medusa’s beauty and cursed her to be a reptile person then she closed her in a cave.
In the end Perseus killed her with Athena’s help so yeah Athena was a bitch and Medusa was a rape victim not a monster.

According to my Encyclopedia of Mythology ISBN 1-84309-432-0 all that’s listed is she’s a Gorgon who “mated” (exact words) with Poseidon, and Perseus killed her and out of her sprung Pegasus. Encyclopedia Britannica doesn’t even say Poseidon raped her.

Yeah I absolutely remember this. People would see sponsorships as annoying ads telling them to buy useless stuff. Although I think once people realized that people on UA-cam are small business owners (with the exception of the millionaire youtubers lol) they were very much humanized. Plus we all learned that that the only way people on youtube make consistent money is if they diversify their income. Now, people usually get mad when influencers try to hide ads or lack transparency, which is frowned upon
