As someone who worships her, I was so excited to see her interpretation of her!! She is a complex goddess and beautiful as well!!! Edit: actually many times her necklace is depicted with skulls instead of heads so that was awesome! They are actually often associated with the letters of the alphabet, and actually the death of one's ego. She is all about change and she teaches us that we must shed our pride and our ego so that we can become our true unhindered selves.

Tengliu is the Chinese goddess of snow. I haven't seen an interpretation of her, but I think an Asian goddess would be beautiful. Khione is the greek goddess of snow too, so you can go there. Yuki-onna are snow demons from Japan that wear white kimonos, which would look amazing. Nerrivik or Sedna are goddesses important to the Inuit people. I think it would be amazing if you could capture the intricate fur and beading that they are famous for. Just some ideas for winter

Goddess Kali.... Another image of goddess Durga. The destroyer of the evil and the protector of the innocent. Today's project was really a surprise to me. While watching the whole video I felt a different joy. Thanks a lot for choosing this one. The labour, time and effort you put in the project are just beyond imagination. It was just perfect. As a Hindu by birth and a worshipper of goddess Kali since childhood today I really felt very proud. But one thing I must say that the length of the hair should be a little longer. Kali has long hair, crossing the length of her hip and you forgot to add the hibiscus garland. For us hibiscus is considered as the flower must needed for Kali's worship. Thanks a lot ❤️❤️❤️❤️ lots of love from West Bengal, India.

The only important detail that you seem to have missed is Goddess Kali always has her blood-red tongue sticking out of her mouth, which is her characteristic feature. It is to be feared, and is a reminder that nature ultimately consumes all life that it gives birth to.

In all fairness, the doll's sculpt just didn't have an open mouth. I feel like if it were, she would have included it, but maybe that's just me? Still, very cool

My goddess! The colours, the proportions. I couldn't believe how perfect the chains were, the most opulent gold tone and shine. Your research and references were on point. This was extremely satisfying. As an Indian (who is also a fashion designer) I can attest that Kali is the *coolest* one of them all. You NAILED the hair texture as well! UGHH
I‘m glad you‘ve been making more and more ambitious projects lately. You executed Kali really well. For your winter queen, maybe you can do Jadis the White Witch from The Chronicles of Narnia, or maybe an aurora borealis-inspired queen decorated in neon and uv paints.

@@nikotm2856 to be fair the 'giants' in Norse mythology arent necessarily more gigantic in size than the other deities. Loki is a giant, Tyr’s father is a giant, one of Thor’s wives is a giant, and the giants can be eagles (like Skaði's father) or horses or cats or serpents, or personifications of old age - just the same as dwarves/elves, they're shapeshifters and master craftsmen too. The 'giants' are more just a different, more wild and magical set of chaos deities to fight against the agriculture-war deities that the main bunch are. And not so much like the greek cyclops in that they're really big in size.

For a winter goddess, Cailleach is the Queen of Winter and an ancient 'divine hag' from Galic and Celtic folklore in Irland, Scottland, and the Isle of Man. She's often depicted as a wrinkled old woman with a wool cloak or veil and is said to have created the land and the weather, specifically the winter and cold wind.
It'd be really interesting how you'd deal with an elderly/wrinkled face because the character is very grand but also sort of harsh.
She also has a big ass hammer which I just adore. The Cailleach is GOALZ
Grand and harsh is literally winter in a nutshell.
I would love to see a doll that was based on the myths and legends from your culture. I think that would be very interesting and informative. As for this video, I cannot believe how amazing this doll turned out! I must have paused the end a hundred times just to take in all the details!

That’s so cool because the Monster High doll is called Kali’ Mari a play on words of Calamari (fried squid) and similar to the name of the Indian Goddess Kali.
Perhaps winter queen suggestion: Queen Frostine from CandyLand. Several versions to choose from.

A beautiful Earth Goddess with a pregnant belly, naked and adorned with leaves and flowers to hide her modesty… and if you’re up for the challenge, make her belly open at the front with a miniature diorama inside of lush greenery and a waterfall… She’d look absolutely stunning 💚

I would love to see Yue the Moon Spirit from Avatar! She's from the Northern Water tribe which is in a frozen area (very wintery).
If I think about winter gods, I think about Mythology. There is Demeter, Greek Goddess of Agriculture and Fertility. When her daughter Persephone was given to Hades as a wife, she grew angry and laid winter on the human realm until her Daughter would come back from the Underworld.
Another thought would be the Ice Giants (Jötnar) from North Mythology.
Ooh! A Demeter doll with a winter side and a summer side to show her despair when Persephone is away

Greek mythology also has Khione the Greek Goddess of snow, she is the daughter of Boreas, the god of the North Wind and Winter, though she is more often depicted as a nymph rather then a goddess. Her name literally means snow in greek, χιόνι.
There's actually a winter version of Demeter in the game Hades too. Perhaps seeing that design could give some inspiration. As appropriate as it would be though(with a Persephone doll having been made), as someone else mentioned elsewhere in the comments, Jadis(aka the White Witch) from Narnia would be interesting to see. She's had many interpretations, and I'd like to see Poppen Atelier try her out.
I would love to see an Aztec goddess. I'm not familiar with any of them, but the bright colors and skulls of the doll reminded me of some interesting Aztec artwork I have come across.

I am amazed at how you were able to sculpt the bottom half of the doll so well around all the articulating joints and still keeping it so smooth!

I personally love seeing doll repaints like this because it's so interesting seeing your interpretation of something with a theme but no fixed appearance. Perhaps you could do one based on Japanese mythology (if that is the right terminology for it)
Seconded! The goddess of the sun Amaterasu, the myth of Ishinami and Ishinagi, any number of yokai or minor deities or spirits... there are so many cool stories to choose from! I'd love to see Poppen Atelier do something from Japanese mythology as well!

The gorgeous head piece reminds me of Fan Bingbing's portrayal of Wu Zetian in The Empress of China. Would be interesting to see a doll version of the only ruling Empress in China, with all the colorful headpieces and accessories and make up and clothes!

I'm pretty sure she was Emperor Wu. In China the title is for the job, not the gender, empress is a different job. She would make a great doll either way. ^_^

@@LadyDynamitez Yeah, it's really interesting stuff. Xiran Jay Zhao recently did a two part video summarizing her history, it's quite the drama. She was a very clever and driven lady. Also was an empress at one point, so you weren't wrong, but she would absolutely prefer the title of emperor.

Most of the things looks quite accurate but actually goddess Kali's hair length is around her knees & also covering her breast region otherwise everything looks great 💕

Bears are sacred in Karelian culture, and life of a bear is celebrated after their death, and skulls hoisted up a tree so that the spirit of the bear could find their way back into the forest.

I think you did an excellent job, it is very detailed! I was surprised you got the two halves to work together since the top half of the body looked much larger than the lower half. But it did come out very natural looking.
For winter dolls I think Yuki-onna would be cool. And not really winter themed, but I think it would be cool if you painted a doll to make it look like a porcelain doll!

If you ever get time, try doing your lil research on different hindu god and goddess ....I think at the end of the everyone will relate with the core beliefs of any religion because every culture or religion teaches love, humanity and kindness be it Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam etc. ....It is us human who makes religion toxic at times, when clearly it meant to unite all of us in the first place.. .. 🙂
@Sangeeta Mukherjee I feel a little sad because I was always taught about "dead" mythology, like Greek and Egyptian in school, or my region's primary religion, but never about the cultures living around us unless I went out of my way to look something up myself. Though my research was discouraged by some people, even about "dead" mythologies because it conflicted with the religion I grew up with. They've never really been tolerant of other cultures, unfortunately.
I think if we learned more about each others culture and beliefs, maybe there would be less toxic people misunderstanding that most religions, at least the ones I'm familiar with, do teach core beliefs of kindness and love like you said. People do make it messy and toxic a lot of the time, but thankfully there's people like you who encourage learning and sharing. So, Thank you.
@@erinnix3197 Trust me .....it's same everywhere.....we too are never taught in school about other cultures and religions around us ..just the mere basics like who was the founder, how did it started like that ...
But atleast in this day of technology we can get all the information be need from reliable sources and also meet with kind, wonderful and educated people from different parts of world who have the thrist of knowledge like you ..... ♥️
