      When you said “so the earthworms have access” I was wondering; aren't americans pumped with conservation fluids, like on Six Feet Under? I live in Europe, where all coffins are closed, and all remains are buried. Not kept on mantlepieces or snorted by rockstars :-)

    Love your sense of humour. You can relax, no worms 6ft down. One tip, put some blocks above the rope handles so when you lift with them it stands the rope off the side of the coffin. Your pallbearers knuckles will thank you for them. (I'm a funeral director in New Zealand, seen a few skinned knuckles with rope handles)

    Steve add a green light or two inside and a motor with a cam on it, to rattle the lid. You could add a second motor, with a cam to lift then drop a mallet inside the coffin to make banging noise.

    Great video.
    Last fall, my son came home from high school and asked if I could build him a coffin. After he explained it was for a Halloween costume contest, I agreed. He also wanted it so that his friends could carry him in the coffin. I used 3/8" plywood with 1x's for framing. To figure out the angles, I drew the outline on paper. I adjusted the lines until it looked right and measured the angles with a student protractor. It is a prop, it is not fine furniture.

  • @warlockcommandcenter

    I built a coffin in 1990 used it for about 6 years and sold it for 10 bucks at a garage sale. I built it first as a prop and secondarily to store my Halloween stuff first year I put a red light in it and a speaker. I sat inside and spooked the front yard had a group of 4 teenage girls start trying to look in the coffin and when they got about 24" away started yelling and they screamed and backed their butts in to one of my prized rose bushes and I got two screams for the price of one. So the reason I bring this up mine was black reused plywood from an old real estate sign I was haunting around the goodwill store for stuff and there it was part of their display still standing proud and tall at 6'-6" tall and the interior was still unpainted it had a price tag of $80.00.

    The arbor on your table saw is it .625 and if so you can use a 3/4" dado stack with that right? I've seen you use them
    before ,but I'm about to buy my first table saw and just wanted to make sure I got one that would handle a 3/4" stack.
    I know the question is unrelated to this video. Sorry.

    • @brucelee3388
      @brucelee3388 7 років тому

      Bookshelves in various styles and blanket/toy chests can be made with limited tools and dimensional lumber aka Big Box store SPF (if you short through it and eliminate the warped, split & otherwise damaged boards).

  • @brucelee3388
    @brucelee3388 7 років тому +1

    Surprised you didn't go the coffin/bookcase project line, we all need somewhere to stash stuff, just cut the side battens so the top edge is level then screw them to the sides. The shelves can then just sit on top of the battens making them easily removed when you need the coffin for something else, like Halloween or stashing the bodies of annoying door-to-door callers in the back yard.

    You should have gotten a Casper mattress and cut it to size to fit in the coffin. If you're buried alive, you'll want to be comfortable, seeing as you'll be six feet under and you'd need supernatural strength (like the kind you get after being turned by a vampire) to escape that.
