- Enjoy some of the best outtakes of The Royle Family between 2006-2010.
How the hell did they actually get any filming done? :D

The most underrated comedy series ever. And it is a typical working class family we can all, well most of us, relate to. Loved it.
I'm sure people just like calling something underrated for the hell of it. How the hell is it underrated? There are four seasons spanning over eight years. It was hugely successful and very popular. Tens of millions of people tuned in for the Christmas specials. It won four BAFTA Awards, four British Comedy Awards, two NTA Awards..to name but a few. What the hell are you talking about?
@@judgeberry6071 speaking of 'underrated'. A spinoff from Royle Family, 'Early Doors'. That's one I reckon is underrated.
@@judgeberry6071 well more like 3 proper series, season 4 is made up of Xmas specials
This definitely wasn't/isn't underrated. It was lauded with praise when it was originally aired and won every award going
Underrated? It won everything going and was one of the most watched sitcoms ever.
One of the funniest shows ever written. Seen every episode and special at least 10 times. RIP Caroline Aherne, Geoffrey Hughes and Liz Smith. Gone but never forgotten ❤️
Doreen Keogh (Mary) has passed now aswell. RIP
Class 😁
over rated
Absolutely agree
ya know, Helen, the worst thing ya can do is watch this stuff "back", cos ya realise how shite all the other stuff is now. coincidence or not, just after this finished, i sacked me telly. " no regrets", as Edith said.
Caroline. Bless her heart, what a gifted lady she was.
andrew johnson and twiggy , Liz Smith ,and Mary
She sure was she will be sadly missed
andrew johnson she was fantastic but let’s credit graig cash aka Dave as he was also the writer for the Royale family and without the two of them the Royale family wouldn’t exist.
Well caroline aherne and Craig cash for there brilliant writing and very well acted by all
She certainly was. Every single performance in that show was perfect, there isn’t a better sitcom in my opinion. Absolute first class.
The Christmas Special when Nana dies is one of the best things ever to have been on TV. It had everything a good drama should have: comedy, pathos, gut wrenching sadness and irony. Sinead O'Connor's haunting rendition of 'Scarlet Ribbons' sealed the deal. RIP Denise, Nana and Twiggy.
True. When her daughter combs her hair and they talk, very thouching 🥰
God rest them all💚
I cried through the whole thing.
Made me bawl my bloody eyes out
yep, ya never forget the "good un's, Whippy, for obvious reasons. when these sort of "progs" finished", i sacked the telly. 30 years on with no "goggle box", no regrets.
Loved it when Craig said to Joanne "do you get this on downton abbey"
this has to be one of the very best comedies ever - Unbelievably witty and subtle humour, as well as the completely obviously funny stuff. It was also capable of making very sad and very powerful moments. 10/10 for me
This show is so nostalgic for me, and my Dad watched it when I was a little girl. I'm 19 now and its such comfort show to me, feels like home when I'm watching it.
Hello Beth
How are you doing today?
Same I watched it with nan who's passed bring me comfort and lovely memories of us just laughing together
The out takes are even funnier than the final scenes. I thought gormless Dave just had to be exactly the same in real life, but here he is laughing his pants down trying to deliver his lines. Brilliant stuff.
He wrote the show with Denise, he also wrote a fantastic film called Sunshine. He plays a dinlo so well. Hilarious.x
Just shows then, how much of a brilliant actor Craig is, if he can make Dave seem so realistic.
He also co wrote the brilliant Early Doors which deserved more recognition than it got
Why would he be the same in real life ?
He's an actor.
This was one of thoes once in a generation shows. Captured the working class brits so well. Such amazing characters wraped in the smallest setting. It felt like you were spending time with family not watching a show. The Royle Family will always have a special place in my heart
Dear Lord I was bellying laughing through almost all of it. "There's been a MUR-DER" 🤣 that scene was classic. Dave kept laughing. What it must have been like working together. Laughing during the takes. Fantastic
I never get tired of the Royle Family. One of my favourite sitcoms. The outtakes are hilarious especially Dave continuously corpsing 😂
I have the complete Royle Family DVD box set and these outtakes are part of the set :) when I'm feeling down I watch the outtakes to cheer myself up . Hard to believe it's 23 yrs old...yet still relevant today :)
Caroline's writing talent is superb, she was a clever lady, so sadly missed.
How in God's name did they ever get this show completed, it must have been a joy to work on the set for everyone ,the outtakes had me in stitches, absolutely hilarious and rest easy caroline
Denise. Nana and Twiggy. RIP
Mary has sadly passed as well RIP Doreen keough.
I can't believe how many have died from this show recently.
So very sad 😢😢
Can't believe it ..four people passed on ...from the program 😫😫 miss them I've DVDs and kept playing it
Brake my heart that all of that made it great are no longer with us my they rest in peace 💔
RIP Caroline. Heard some very good things about how she treated the crew behind the scenes, she would often (apparently) buy lottery tickets and sweets and stuff for everyone involved. Absolute class.
That's right. Everyone got a lottery ticket every week and on a Friday at the end of filming there would be a table with drinks for all the cast and crew, whatever their preferred tipple might be.
@@DoctorVision Aaw I'm genuinely happy that's confirmed then - what an absolute star she was. Just a pity a lot (not all) celebs are egotistical wankers who look down on the crew. She hopefully made a difference. Fantastic, you've made my night :)
I’m dehydrated from all the tears of laughter during this video. A beautiful show which is sadly missed.
Love watching stuff like this, really helps my depression at lot 😊
Stephanie Jane Tennant Me too, that’s the reason I watch it!
Takes me back to the good old days x
Sometimes the outtakes are funnier than the series. One of those wish i was there to be part of it. Try phoenix nights outtakes even if didn't like the series the outtakes are funny.
Are you still suffering from depression Stephanie? X
@@mattstuart2550 Phoenix nights is brill, loved it back in the day thanks for the reminder 😊
It is sad when watching this,Caroline no longer here,to think how much fun they had on set,a perfect tv gem, never to be seen again.
Nor is Nan
nor is Twiggy
It's so nice to see them laughing and joking. The show was the same, full of fun. Imagine pitching a show where the whole show is based in one house. It was an amazing cast and script that made it what it was.
Yes it was. It wudda gone on if it wasn't for poor Caroline Aherne. Death . Sad. God bless her and Nana , Twiggy 👍🙏
This show is up there with Fools and Horses and Faulty Towers for me. Absolute genius. Sad to know they'll never be able to do any more. Caroline Aherne was a true comedian.
This, alongside One Foot in the Grave and Fawlty Towers is one of my Top 3 favourite sitcoms of all time.
And blackadder
On the buses aswell for me
@@chezer9236 Dad's army .
This is better than fools'
5:47 - Oh my goodness, Ralf & Craig laughing - this is the best thing I've seen all day! Love it!
Heartbreaking that this phenominal observational comedy will never happen again. The writing, timing, acting. It all looked so simple and easy but the writing, the lines, the characterisation was second to non. R.I.P. Caroline.
I think you either loved it or hated it, but maybe saw a little bit of yourself in it. I did and I loved it. Tears strolling down my face thanks Dave!!
I love love love Royal family..seen all episodes hundred times..bt still watch it again..
RIP, Denise, twiggy, Nana and Mary will sadly be missed by all their fans..
love you guys..Xx
When I think about how much I laughed watching this show week in week out, it’s a poignant happiness to know that the cast had as much fun making it, if not more. We thank you and miss you 😘
If anyone ever needs cheering up watch the full outtakes, brilliant!! Genius
Rip Caroline, brought me so many laughs with this series, perfect timing when it was released but still funny today and the outtakes are hilarious
This show will forever have a place in my heart. My parents and I used to watch this together. Now whenever I see a re-run or clips like this on UA-cam I get nostalgic. RIP Caroline Aherne, Liz Smith and Geoffrey Hughes. 💜
Sheer brilliance pure joy to watch and very funny! Rest in peace to the ones who passed!
Thank you for posting this, I laughed all the way through. Absolutely love this show, one of the best. Still can't believe the wonderful Caroline Aherne is no longer with us, what a loss! She and Craig were a brilliant team writing this brilliant show and loved Jim and Barbara, loved them all x
I could watch this a hundred times & still cry with laughter every time XXXXX
I just discovered the show. Unbelievably entertaining. The wonderful cast made me care about these people. I am now mourning the loss if Caroline Aherne and Liz Smith. Unfortunately, I don't think most Americans would get it. I need more of these people.
It's refreshing to find people who appreciate British comedy as many of the people of my (young) generation only seem to watch American sitcoms.
I only just found this wonderful show a few months ago myself..being a fan of 'keeping up appearances'..I thought I would check this one out. And so happy I did..I love every character on here. SO wish they would make more episodes, some say it wouldn't be the same without Caroline, but I say what a great tribute that would be to her. This from a super fan across the pond👍❤️
Oh there's plenty of British sitcoms you should check out. I know how popular Keeping Up Appearances was abroad, but there's some real gems here that missed out on the international limelight.
Great to see all the american comments on here. The Royle family always seemed so British, kind of like it wouldn't travel well but I'm glad to be proven wrong
DoctorVision
Many Australians love a good Brit comedy, soap, drama etc.
Heck, we have several channels on subscription tv in Australia (UKTV, BBC First and so on) that are completely dedicated to Brit programmes.
But then again, it's totally understandable, considering the heritage of some Aussies.
They don't make them like this anymore ! Superb .
3 of them are dead it wouldn't work sadly 😢
That must have been the perfect acting job. Great characters, great scripts, and the bond this cast had with each other. It must have been pure joy to be part of that family and google your way through the day.
I miss them all so much! 😭
There's been a murrrderrrr!!! One of the funniest things I've seen...
KingLaudrup
That would have to be my favourite Christmas episode 🖒
I know, such a simple little bit, but so very funny :)
Oh god that “tropical” punch with the whole banana floating in it, so so so funny 🤣
I still watch all my episodes of the Royle Family every night & watch this every outtake every week too! 😂😂😂😍 has me crying 😂😂 #FeelsLikeHome
good evening im on an outtake binge.
This gives me so much nostalgia I feel like crying every time the theme song comes on
Wouldn’t it be marvellous if we all had a job were you get paid to laugh with your friends. Brilliant
What a sad loss losing Caroline. So so talented am so glad we have moments like this to look back on. I spent this week watching every episode on the BBC IPlayer. Only to find last night that bbc1 had started from the beginning. I still watched it. Thank you. You Will never be forgotten xx. 🇬🇧 31/10/20.
The funniest thing I've seen lately. They must have had great fun doing that series. I couldn't have kept a straight face, either...🙃🤣😀
These are classics they make me laugh and bring a tear to my eye , they remind me of times when my kids were teenagers and we all sat and watched these , they can still recite Denise’s lines RIP lovely xxxx
Shame Caroline gave us all such a good belly laugh with her brilliant scripts...yet couldn’t find that inner joy within herself 🌸
fair chance, ender, this kept her going a bit longer, like.
Does anyone know why Season 1-3 was so genius and the rest were so bad? Was it a fall out between Aherne and Cash? Something must have happened. I enjoyed Aherne's Dossa and Joe much more than the later Royle Familys.
The earlier series felt literally like a fly on the wall watching a real family. The later specials seemed like they made caricatures of their own characters, the acting become over the top, rather than natural. It may have been something other than the acting or writing, such as the director, that made it feel so different.
@@alfraedo304 I reckon it might have been all of those things (how was Caroline at the time?). As a fan i enjoyed seeing them more, but with each bad scene, i couldn't help but feel let down. It should have been a classic (or THE classic) not a cult classic
@@alfraedo304 yeah Denise and Dave were dim but they wouldn't have put a bloody frozen turkey in the bath to defrost in the earlier series.
One of the best TV shows ever god bless Caroline aherne what a talent you was
We should all be so lucky to have such a good time at work
Thank you soooo much for putting this on. I laughed out loud throughout.Sadness too,for everyone's loss, but proud of the show. The memories live on💟xx
Man I miss this show so much :(
Imagine having this much fun and being paid for it ❤
Love this programme. Doesn't matter how many times you watch it you still laugh out loud!🤣
So sad that there will never be any more new Christmas specials of the Royal family.
Thank you thank you thank you. I really needed that. Im a giggler too, so this did me the world of good.
I absolutely love The Royal Family and this video is hilarious.
Thank you!
That's perked me right up. Caroline was a comedy genius 💖
3:36 "get that will you Dave" bloody brilliant this show!
2.25 when caroline reaches out to craig as too be one of the most touching scenes......what a great lass she was. God Bless Her.
Closest of friends
watching this while on lockdown and it's a tonic ,laughed so much
I love watching bloopers and The Royal Family. I hope they make a new series of the Royal Family
Absolutely genius...I can watch this so many times over....God bless them all 💚
Absolutely love this show, I still watch it daily. Caroline Aherne was a genius writer, the cast were amazing and Nana always had me in stitches with her banter with Jim. R.I.P Liz, Caroline, Geoffrey and Doreen.
Getting paid to have a good laugh what a brilliant job to have
Once upon a time the BBC didn't take itself so seriously, this is a gem. This would never get on air today
I think it would still.
Explain why not?
I've only just tripped across this - hysterical!!!! Love it!! RIP the bloody lot of 'em!! XXX
God I love this show! They looked like they had such a laugh making this great comedy programme! X
Absolutely bloody brilliant! Never forgotten!
Seems like they all had so much fun , and couldn't stop laughing.....creating this great comedy
A very clever show ....
The script is superb
The looks
The timing
The tone of voice all amazing
Thanks for the wonderful series ❤️
These outakes make my day 😆
Pure class! Comedy script writing at its very best. To think they made a masterpiece of us watching them watching telly!!
Must've been such a laugh making that. Absolutely hilarious.
Great show with great actors.Should have made more show.
Fantastic....now I'm looking forward to the Christmas specials.
Brilliant scripts from the much missed Caroline, fantastic stuff great comedy actors
Absolutely f*cking brilliant. And if you've given it a thumbs down....my arse!
Without doubt one of the best shows ever
Just a fantastic piece of work god bless you all
The best no other words needed
Never been a better or funnier show on tv than this. The casting and script was nothing short of genius. And it hit home to all the working class people out there as it was like looking at ourselves in the mirror !!!! I still say to my family when I see them what you had for dinner !!! 😂😂😂😂and I can’t eat a club or penguin without laughing. We still eat them now !!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Am currently binge watching The Royle Family in chorological order for the first time as I've only ever seen the odd episode here and there when it first came out. What a genius series, it's making me grin all the way.
It was so funny to watch this again after all those years. Cracked me up just as much as when I saw it for the first time. To me this was one of the best comedy series ever. Wish the BBC did a repeat if this one.
They actually did repeat a few episodes of the first series in a weekly slot during lockdown which was rather bizarre at the time.
That is great, but as I am Dutch, I did not know that, shame.... would have loved to see it again.
@@DirkjeA It is currently available to watch in full on BBC iPlayer but you won't be able to get that unless you can use a VPN, otherwise BritBox might be your best option or a DVD set.
Awww, brought back some memories of some bloody fine actors here. God bless Caroline Aherne, one talented lady. ❤️
You know, people were talking about the first episodes of the show, so I had a look-in and just didn't get it. Some family sitting around watching telly? Then I began to snigger and laugh out loud - such subtlety, such slyness, such cleverness. Got the box set. I cherish the series now.
I have watched this programme so many times I know the scrip it's just genius.
I have most of these series on Dvd and I love too watch them over and over but this is Soooo hilarious 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Love them all
The best comedy without a doubt, superb writing, actors , sadly missed
Caroline aherne was an absolute gem
Beautiful!!! One of the best!
Just watching Ralph Little all gown up in Death in Paradise and couldn't resist finding this programme to rewatch. Brilliant
Love how in the final cut you can still see Ralph Little holding in a laugh when him and Craig are lifting Ricky
Looked such fun... Happy days,
Nannuuuuuuur saying ‘phuck off’ absolutely finished me off! 😂😂😂
Craig Cash is fantastic and poor Caroline too young RIP, this was casted perfectly ;')
Still best show on telly 2022 !! You avin that dave !!
So much fun on set I imagine. Love this show. It is missed
Excellent cast. All superb actors.🤗🤗
Thanks best show ever. When it works it works thanks to all of the superb actors and the whole production.....
This program is a masterpiece
I just ADORE & LOVE this program. Miss it so much. I watch re runs when I need a good laugh.. R. I. P. To beautiful Caroline O'hearn. Passed far too young and so talented. 😢
