I’ve had one for a month and love it. As for marked balls: I’ve found Taylormade TP5x with the soccer ball pattern does a fantastic job with picking up spin. I’ve hit the Square marked balls and the Taylormade one after the other, and they both register approx the same spin numbers.
@ I tried that with some Vice balls. It works just as well as the Square balls. But sharpie ink will get transferred to your projector screen and make it really ugly, really quick. I only tested sharpie because I hit into a net so it doesn’t matter for me.
@@PikeyScott I guess you could order balls of your preference with dots as "personalization" from companies that make it with UV plotters... UV paint will not get transferred to the screen. Normally they print logos on golfballs and so on. The downside is that it can be a bit pricy, but SQ wants 70 euro for a dozen, and usually you pay 50 euro for pro v1, and 30 for personalization. And you practice with the balls you want.
Very excited about this. Am currently building a setup in my garage and I'm so glad this came on the market when it did. It's my number one choice at this stage.
For Bluetooth connection issues, throw a USB extension cable onto the PC, then run the cable it out closer to the LM and plug in the Bluetooth adapter.
try to keep this short but Ive had one for a few weeks and I like it alot, needed a camera unit for space reasons and use it almost every night. Is it perfect-no, I know my irons are a little off with it but it picks up shot shapes really well. Rarely misses wedge/chips and picks up driver/wood/hybrid distance close enough and you can putt. Its worth every penny to me, I didnt want to drop 5K to keep my swing going over the winter in my garage. takes 30sec to be playing a round of sim golf (ipad to hdmi to LCD flat screen) and the courses on it are pretty good. Really hope balls are available again for it (which was my biggest concern) and they continue to grow program compatibility. for the money, ease of use, what it can do I think its really hard to beat.
A very interesting launch monitor. Hard to decision between this and the MLM2Pro. Seems like the MLM2Pro might be more accurate and allows for outdoor use, but the Square allows for putting and placing the LM next to the ball, so great for small spaces. The surprising thing to me is the fact that SquareGolf LM does NOT provide swing speed.
For bluetooth, if you're using the the on board Bluetooth it could be trying to get through several things and getting interference. You could get a Bluetooth dongle and either get a USB extension or plug it in to a forward USB port if you have one, that way it's outside the case and not bouncing off anything or catching as much interference within the case.

Quick question - you used the Square golf patterned balls with the comparison and both LMs seemed to pick them up well; do you think the Square Golf LM will work well with the Rapsodo pattern golf balls? Tough one. I tend to trust SkyTrak data a little more as I haven't used the Square for as long as I've used ST. But on initial tests it is looking impressive

Different mfr's competing and prices are dropping very quickly. This is bringing high accuracy golf simulation to the masses

Not liking the fact that the accuracy drops when using regular golf balls. I wonder if marking them up would help with accuracy. How is it with missed shots? I have the OG SkyTrak and get a few missed shots every now and then, usually on well struck shots, where the LM just doesn't pick up anything. How does the Square compete with SykTrak?
Skytrak is old hardware. When I used one they had a lot of misreads and issues with higher wedge shots. I would absolutely consider this as an upgrade. That being said, there's better and more accurate launch monitors, but for this price, it is very difficult to find much fault in it especially if it's fairly accurate. Biggest flaw is probably the need for specific golf balls.
@@gl0ry I don’t have many issues with misreads. My main temptation for the square golf is the club data and credits-based course play. I hit around 100 balls every other day and it’s nice to be able to use cheaper ones Iike Costco Kirkland balls. Hence why I’m still on the fence for this.

That being said, if you've never experienced other launch monitors, skytrak is fine, but once you step up to newer technology it's difficult to go back. In my opinion the eye mini (non lite version) and foresight gc3 (or Bushnell launch pro) are the best in the portable launch monitor category. I have a bias for those two companies because I trust their data. That being said. Square seems to be killing it in the budget category. I can't see anything beating this.

You can’t use this launch monitor outside (I haven’t tried it) but I Square Golf say the sunlight can damage the technology. As for which one to go for, I trust the SkyTrak a lot. I’d need to use the Square for quite a while longer yet to be sure. Wedges concern me a little with the Square
Placement so far in front is a no-go for my family. With kids,that would get broken in no time (even if putting in a wooden box). 4 person limit is also too limiting unfortunately.
@@hcpgolf apparently you should have gotten like 100+ gray colored band type stickers to put on the shaft of your club it specifies that it needs to be like 17 or 20 cm from the clubhead and you can use that in the club data setting to get clubhead speed. I just watched another review on this LM yesterday and honestly the Data seemed pretty robust to me for the price point. It just doesn’t seem to have clubhead speed while doing driving range, etc. it’s a separate club data setting.
With respect to the launch time, this is a nice trick they use where they send the ball in a rough direction and then modify once the calculations can be done. You will notice this on chips, the ball will always go in a different direction after the first bounce.
Not that I'm aware of. I haven't actually tested it offline - I will give it a go and find out! I feel like you just need bluetooth and you're good to go
I bought this Launch Monitor a few weeks ago and one of the issues I’ve had is you can’t change the server location. I live in a higher elevation and I’m not able to change to that. Also, the sim stick should not be swung at full force. I was swinging it in my house and the weight inside the stick flew out and into my wall. Another issue I have is I’m LH and when I have buddies over to use the driving range I have to exit out of the driving range to switch which hand it reads. Bluetooth connection to other devices besides your phone is difficult. Overall a good sim and I understand the software is still being updated with changes to these issues. But figured I’d give my 2 cents.
How does this work if you were to play a round with a lefty? My dad is lefty and if I was to try and play a round with him, does it allow you to move the LM back and forth or how does that work?
why was the club data in green?? Surely this is not measured data but instead calculated data based on the ball characteristics. More info is needed for this as that was potentially very very wrong information.
I don't like the credit system, bit of a scam if you play a lot of rounds and with friends. Just purchase GSpro for $250 and then there is no cost from what I understand.

Especially if you only plan to use it inside anyway. At2500+ for club data on mevo it’s criminal to see this LM do exactly the same if not read certain things better

This thing is really low quality, in terms of build quality. There are already people having to take the thing apart and re-solder connectors. Keep away.
IMO, it's not very good and provides little data. Had the Square Golf LM for about a week and sent it back. Both the Garmin and Rapsodo are much better for the money. Fighting with the company for my refund. Buyer beware!
Really ? What “little” data are you talking about ? The data seems pretty great in the reviews I saw. The rapsodo is not giving you face data and doesn’t offer spin etc without subscription so I’m not sure why you’d think it’s better ? Check other reviews on this unit

As a budget option or entry level launch monitor it’s great ⛳️
i have one and lm in love with it lol 5 mins and lm gaming, no miss reads and putting is a dream.
I bought one and it does everything and does it well.

Without being able to use my own ball to get accurate data I would choose OG Skytrak over this any day. Price now of OG Skytrak is very similar now.
If playing with righties and lefties, is it easy to just move it to other side? Or does that throw off the calibration ?
It’s simple to move. Might throw off the alignment a little but if you mark a spot for both sides and align to that it should be straight forward

select in settings the distance ball square will update the distances in a update

I haven't noticed the ball changing direction on chips after the first bounce... 🤷🏻♂️ I'll keep an eye out for it

That’s your decision mate, the MLM2 is great but if you don’t fancy paying a subscription the Square might be the way forward ⛳️
