Great review. Had mine a couple of years or so. Despite being in a dry workshop the labels have all peeled back. The plastic guard frame snapped off at the narrowest point, where it hinges. Bought a commercially made replacement at over a third of the cost of the whole drill... but it is made of a much better plastic and should last. For light duty, infrequent use it represents amazing value.
Thanks for the review I bought one of these, be careful the threads on the bolts are bad screw them in gently , the chuck wobble is really annoying me, if you need precise holes buy a more expensive machine , got it new for £50 , was still worth the price .
For what you need it for it should serve you well after some initial set up. I use mine about once a month on small projects and have not had any problems.
I've had one of these for about 7 years, no torque and it sounds like the bearings are falling apart (from new) but it copes with what I use it for, had to replce the belt on it recently . I'll replace it with something better when it finally gives up
Bought one yesterday. Had all the problems you described PLUS, the safety cut out switch in the belt box doesn't work. The pin on the lid does not line up with the switch, and can't be adjusted, as the nut and bolt are pants. It's going back tomorrow !
Random question: i have the same drill that has stopped working. On the back off the motor is a cover with two screws containing a capacitor. Mine has melted and taken out all the markings so i can't buy a replacement. Might you be able to have a look on yours and let me know what rating it has? The markings start CBB60 I'll paypal you enough to buy a pint
I DRILLED A 5.5MM HOLE Through THE CENTRE OF A 2 INCH LONG 25MM STEEL RE BAR AND IT DRILLED THAT NO PROBLEM. YOU NEED TO GET BETTER QUALITY DRILL BITS.

I just purchased this and it is fine,
Nothing bad about it.
I bought one of the weekend and this video was useful. I'm not expecting a lot from it - drilling ply and soft woods, infrequently.

An honest and informative review, many thanks mate.

Shame about that. Poor quality control. Hope you find a suitable replacement.

I agree. Used cheap ones from Lidl. Big mistake. It’s a great drill for the money as ling as it’s used with in its limits 👍
