My husband bought me the F7NP for Christmas. This video answered ALL of my questions. Thank you so much! (Also, reading the comments, I learned a few things too!!)
Thanks for the video. I did a few things differently. Mounting the back camera on the window points it downward so half the view is inside the car. Tucking all the cables took me less than 45 minutes.

I do appreciate your comment and that you subscribed...much appreciated!!! Let me know if there's any other subject you'd like me to make a video about and I'll do it. Thank you again!
Thank you also you helped me convince to buy the cam after watching your Install! Made me feel that I can do it also. Keep those videos coming and reviews too
Nice video explanation, and you got taste in music 😁. I can't wait to get mine tomorrow and install it, i got the latest F7NP fully loaded kit including the hard wire kit and also the Polarizing Lens to help and deflect opposit car's lights and get a clearer video of their licence plates. Also finally i am answering some of the comments i read. This man clearly stated his wife's car is a lease, so that is why he is not bothered to install the cabling nice and tidy cause they switch cars often.
Thanks for the comment! Hope you enjoy your REDTIGER F7NP! Best of luck to you!!! Oh, and thanks about the music! It’s hard to find good music that has no royalties.
Thank you for the detailed unboxing and installation at actual speed. I’d rather watch a video that I can skip ahead if I want than have to go back and rewatch parts of it over because it was uploaded with a fast playback speed. And I completely understand why you did an easily-removable setup. If you’re leasing, you don’t want to go prying back molding around the windshield and doors. Again, thanks for the video.
Very nice video, sir! I'd already purchased mine with the hardwiring kit but your video makes a great reference point for installation and for showcasing to my significant other the awesome camera we now have. Thanks mate - much appreciated
Thank you so much for a great video. You could start your own production company. The amount of information you gave was optimal in my opinion and your camera work was great. Keep up the good work!
Without watching your videos. I don’t think I would buy it. Thank you very very much. I will let you know how it goes when I get it. I might have some questions for you (hope not) thank you again . Helen
I ordered it yesterday. Questions, When i turn off the car; do i need to turn off the cam or just leave it ? And can i delete all videos from the cam so it won’t use up so much space?
@@gracieki7231 The dash cam will turn off once you turn off the ignition (unless you purchase and install a hardwire kit separately). You shouldn't have to worry about the video taking up space. Once the microSD card reaches it's hard drive space limit, it will record over the oldest video. This is called loop recording. So a 64 GByte microSD card will record about 5 hours of driving time before it starts looping and recording over old video. This dash cam also has G-shock capability, so if you're in an accident or if you have to slam on your breaks, it will store that video in a locked file that will not be recorded over. Appreciate again that you watched the video. Best of luck to you.
I’ve been thinking about purchasing this dash cam. I really enjoyed watching this in depth video, so thank you for the video! I am new to the world of dash cams so I’m hesitant about them at the moment. I have been browsing for a while and I stumbled upon your video. And this cam is very convincing since it has all the features I am looking for. Is a protection plan worth getting through Amazon for this cam? Thanks so much!
Thanks for the comment! Great question! I usually take a chance and do not purchase the protection plan for these dash cams. It's $16.99 for a 2 year plan and $24.99 for a 3 year protection plan. If you want peace of mind, I'd go ahead and get a protection plan. I can tell you I've had my REDTIGER F7N for 2 years now and it's awesome. Never have to worry about it. Best of luck to you!!!
Great question. I’ve owned Vantrue dash cameras in the past and in my opinion they are comparable to the REDTIGER F7N line of dash cameras. Aside from that, it’s up to the person to chose which they want to buy. It’s good that you are comparing brands and their technology versus price. Best of luck to you!
Do you have the option of switching the rear view camera screen to the other side of the main camera screen????? like on the left side that is where I would want it
I believe what you currently see is what you get with this dash cam. Here are the directions from the User Manual to switch views: You can switch the view display by short press. Front and near camera→ Front camera Rear camera →Front and rear camera→ Screen off. You can see the User Manual online here if needed: dashcamtalk.com/cams/f7n/REDTIGER%204K%20Dual%20Dash%20Camera%20English%20User%20Manual.pdf
They have an upgrade the F7NP which uses a suction cup for the front camera a MUCH BETTER design because those 3M stickers do NOT hold in Southern climates due to heat related issues when the vehicle is parked in the sun. I also did NOT use the electrostatic shields AND I glued the REAR camera directly to the rear window using titebond glue and a thin piece of plywood (1/16th"). I removed the glue "sticky" completely from the rear camera mount (and did NOT use the 3M stick mount anywhere). The rear camera is also a lot lighter with the new model. BTW why does he select NOT having your speed stamp in your files? You need to turn that ON (I have no idea why he has it off... yeah you want YOUR speed in those recordings (so do NOT speed!)). I also select 24 hour time stamp as all my clocks are set that way. One final note. Even in my Kia Soul the rear camera wire was too short! It has a lift gate thus you need extra length for those. I extended mine because I'm highly technically oriented BUT you probably ain't THUS you can order a longer extension from redTiger's website. About $20. They have a 33' & 50' version (obviously for RV's).
Thanks for the comment and your insight. I was born and raised in the south east (central Georgia and central Florida) and I understand how hot and humid it gets there. I say "to each his own" as far as how folks install their dash cameras. Best of luck to you and I sure hope your cameras stay in place!
Thanks for the comment! The driver can't really see the screen unless they duck down and take a look. Passenger and backseat folks can see it fine. Appreciate that you watched the video!
@@daytonpyro I mainly try to keep the camera up and out of the way so there's no visual impairment. The windshield in the Q8 e-tron has a steep angle from the roof to the hood and there isn't much room at all where the camera won't be in the driver's view. That's why I placed it where I did. Once it's in the car, we kind of forget its there and we only go to it when we need to pull the video. Good thing is, you can place the camera anywhere you'd like. Thanks again, and I appreciate that you watched the video!
Rear dash cam installation does not make sense because the way you did it, the camera would be pointing down inside the vehicle. What did you do exactly to make the camera point out to the road?
I installed the rear camera in the middle and at the top of the rear window with the rear hatch open which makes it look a bit odd at the time. Once the rear hatch closes, this is the position the rear camera should be in. The problem with the Audi Q8 Etron is the rear of the car has an aggressive slant from the top to the end of the rear window which drastically reduces the camera's vision. So far, the dash cam has worked great for us. Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Thank you for the comment! I don't know personally since I haven't had an android phone in a while, but according to the interweb, "The Redtiger F7N is compatible with a smartphone app called 'Redtiger' (formerly Ucam). It's a free app which allows you to operate a Redtiger dash cam from your iPhone or Android via WLAN." So, if you can find the app withing Android's app store you should be able to connect to it. Best of luck to you!
I received the F8 model. I had trouble connecting to the app, or WIFI, until I realized it may be a hidden SSDD. I typed that in as a hidden WIFI and it connected as soon as I typed in the password.
Wish I had one of them to check into and try to see what you did. I do like the model (just took a look at if online). I really enjoy the large screen I have on my F7N. Yours is touch screen and it looks a little larger than 3 inches. That's cool!!! I need to see which REDTIGER dash cam I'll be purchasing and reviewing next. Would be nice if they sent me one on their own to review. Thanks for the comment! Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Thanks for the comment! There may be some interference between the bluetooth and the wifi signal for the dash camera. I could also be wrong. We'd have to have a very technical person to see if they could help you. Appreciate that you watched my video!!!
Thanks for the comment! My F7N REDTIGER dash cam did not come with a microSD card. I checked Amazon today here: www.amazon.com/dp/B08TT1RRGP It says on Amazon that the package comes with a 64GB Card. I'm not sure why my dash cam didn't have a card with it. Best of luck to you and I appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Do you have to log into the Wi-Fi and have it on your phone? Would rather just install the camera and have it recorded to the SD card and not involve my phone at all if possible
Thanks for the comment! It seems the F7N is the latest dash cam model from REDTIGER. Aside from the F7N, there is the F7N-P, the F7N-S, and the F7N Touch. The "Touch" and the F7N-S are suction cup mounted dash cams, and the F7N-P's only difference from the F7N I've seen is it comes with a 32 GByte microSD card. Hopefully this helps, and I appreciate that you watched the video!
How much time do you have between video clips? I have 1 min videos at 4K and when one stops it takes 1 min to start recording the second. Curious if normal or if the enclosed sd is just too slow. Thank you
Thanks for the comment! I set my videos to record for 3 minute increments. It could be your microSD card. Make sure it has a U with a 3 inside of it (This means it's Ultra High Speed and can write 30MB per second to the disc). Also, make sure it has V30 on the label (this is the Video Speed Class and means the card can write at 30MB per second to disc). If it has a Circle with a 10 inside of it (means the Video Speed Class is 10 and it can write a minimum of 10MB per second to the disc). If you have the U with a 3 in it and either V30 or the Circle with a 10 in it, you should have no problems recording 4K do the microSD card. You can also try to reformat your microSD card and see if that corrects the problem, or you could reset your dash cam. Best of luck to you! Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Thanks for the comment! The WiFi feature was designed to allow you to pair your dash camera wirelessly with your smartphone and access your recordings instantly from the dash cam. With this capability, you no longer need to remove the camera or the microSD card from your vehicle to download videos. I still pull the microSD card every time I need to access my DVR videos. I never actually use the WiFi feature. Appreciate that you watched the video!
Thanks for the comment! Just checked my wife's microSD card rear camera video and I can read the license plates very clear. Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Thanks for the comment! One thought I had was to (if there’s enough room in the overhead from the front door to the rear window) fold the cable back “once” onto itself for as many feet as you can in an effort to take up all the slack. Best of luck to you!
If you have the front camera tucked away to the right side, then it's the same way for the rear, every tiny gap you see shove the cable into it until the rear window, but go left for the rear if that makes sense.. Sorry that is the best way I can explain it lol. Just search more install videos on UA-cam and you will find someone who shows how it is done, it's not hard to do it on your own. I wish I can remember the video so I could paste the link for you. Good luck 🙏🏻
@@Baking_Baker Thanks a lot. Actually, my current dashcam is set right below the rear-view mirror, and the cable is amost invisible, I hide it inside the plastic part of the roof, then of the left door, and then under the seat, all the way to the usb port. I found another video with a clean install, and all the cable for the rear camera is hidden in the same way, even if there are 2 meters of remaining cable.
Thanks for the comment! If you use an electrostatic sticker, it’s easier to remove the dash cam when needed. Also, no residual traces of glue remain on the glass, so you will have no problems cleaning the glass after removing the dash cam. Appreciate that you watched the video!
Hello, I think your first issue is something that can easily be overcome, and your WiFi question has a YES answer to it. Let me explain: The REDTIGER F7N comes with a power cable that is USB-C connected to the front camera and USB-A connected to a 12 volt source which could either be the lighter adapter that is provided with the dash cam, or you could just directly plug the power cord into a USB-A power source within the GMC vehicle. Yes, the REDTIGER App connects via WiFi in order to view video and pictures from the main unit, to make changes to settings, or to download video from the main unit to your smartphone. Please let me know if this helps. I appreciate that you watched my video!!!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, the two REDTIGER F7N units I purchased did not have a microSD card included on the box either. They usually have to be purchased separately. When you purchase your microSD card, make sure (for 4K recording) that you have a U 3 rating and at least 30 Mega Bytes (MB) for read/write onto the drive, 100 MB is even better. Here's a good choice from Amazon: www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B09X7BK27V/ref=sr_1_1?crid=G8465AIFKF7N&keywords=microsd%2Bcard&qid=1695809503&s=instant-video&sprefix=microsd%2Bcard%2Cinstant-video%2C71&sr=1-1-catcorr&th=1 Best of luck to you and I appreciate that you watched the video!
@@williamwyatt9273 That sounds great! My F7N didn't come with a microSD card. I've had to purchase microSD cards for both of my F7Ns. Appreciate that you watched the video!
Thanks for the comment! It’s up to you. If you leave it on it will draw power, but I’m not sure how much power it draws. Interesting that your 12 volt power remains on. If mine did, I’d get it checked out. You might have a wiring problem. Best of luck to you!!!
Hi I just recently bought this dashcam and was wondering if you have the same problem where every time you turn on the car you have to connect to wifi and to your app
Thanks for the comment. Sorry, but I usually do not use the WiFi feature or the app. I just drive with the dash cam on and recording, and if I need to take a look at recorded video, I remove the MicroSD card and plug the MicroSD card into my laptop, download videos I want to take a look at or keep. I believe the WiFi feature was designed so you can wirelessly access and download recordings without having to remove your MicroSD card from the dash cam. With that said, no, I do not have to connect to WiFi and the app every time I turn on the car. Best of luck to you!
So what video format, I.E. mp3, mp4, etc, does this camera record, and how easy/hard is it to download to provide a usable copy to your insurance provider???
The REDTIGER F7N video format is MP4 with a H.264 compression which is currently the most ideal for in car dash cameras. It's very easy to either download a copy of your video via the the RedTiger app (requires WiFi connection) from the dash cam to your smartphone, or you can remove the microSD card and upload the file to your computer/laptop. Currently, my 5 minute clips recorded to the microSD card are 934.8 MBytes in size, so it records at ~186.96 MBytes per minute. Of course you can cut your video down to just what you want to present to your insurance agency which could be only 10 or 20 seconds of video. Appreciate that you watched my video! Best of luck to you!!!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, the unit powers off when you turn off the car. You can purchase and install a hardwire kit which would continue to power the dash cam using the car’s battery if you’d like. Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Bro gotta nice new Audi, and installs via the Sanford & Son school of installation. C'mon brother, you're being 'layzee'! All joking aside, it's VERY simple to slip those wires under the trim pieces around the windshield and other areas. Most of those pieces just snap-off, snap-on. You can even use something like a credit card to use to push behind them without removing them, which is again, really easy to do. There are probably model-specific YT vids for that. If not, there's some content for you to create. You're leasing? So you'd have to look at that mess for what, 2-3 yrs? Triggers my OCD, lol!
"Oh, this is the big one! You hear that, Elizabeth?! I'm coming to you honey!!!" Thanks for the comment! Yes, my wife is already looking at another car. “C'est la vie”
Thanks for the comment! No, I didn't do that this time. These dash cameras do have very clear imagery compared to others. I like the F7N so much I purchased the first one for myself, then purchased another one for my wife. These weren't sent to me to review like the other dash cameras I've reviewed. So, with that said, I'd recommend this dash camera over the others as my favorite.
The worst Customer Service I have ever had to deal with. It takes a week between each email response. I've had 2 different types and both have had problems. The first one had to be replaced after a year the 2nd F7N after 2 months turns off by itself still dealing with Customer No Service.
That does sound pretty bad. I have 2 F7N REDTIGER dash cams. I've had one for over 2 years and the other for 9 months. Luckily, I've had no problems from either so far. Hopefully you can get yours working properly. Best of luck to you!
Thanks for the comment! No, the hardwire kit is separate. I don't invest in them because I don't keep my cars very long. Here's a URL to the hardwire kit on Amazon: www.amazon.com/REDTIGER-Hardwire-Dashboard-Protection-Double-4/dp/B09WCTZ3Y8?th=1 Best of luck to you!
Thank you for the comment! @@LaurieHSherrod When your vehicle is turned off, unless you have a hardwire kit, you won't be able to remain connected to the F7N DVR because it will have no power to it. Once there's no power, there's no connectivity to your smartphone's app. Sorry, but I don't usually use the app on my phone. I remove the microSD card, bring it to my computer and view videos from my computer, then download the video I want. Hopefully this information helps. Best of luck to you!
Sorry, but there's no way that back camera was installed correctly! Once you close the tunk its pointed down and inside. You must have done something differently afterwards without showing. Anyway, i do appreciate you going through the camera in detail showing features and functions. Much better than most reviewers do. I get it about the wiring. That's the tedious part and no need to waste time on. I am fighting with the rear camera position and i just don't think they did a good job designing that particular rear camera. I do see that they have a new better design that allows better positioning of rear. Good stuff! Thanks!
Thanks for the comment! Early on in the video, the rear camera was laying on the floor of the rear trunk area before I installed it on the rear window. The rear hatch window area of the Q8 E-tron Sportback is very limited, plus the trunk cover limits the view even more. Positioning of the camera is pushed as far north as possible. I did think about adding 3M material to the bottom of the rear camera mount to push it up more, but it covers enough of the rear to video tape vehicles behind us. Much appreciated that you watched the video! Best of luck to you in the future!
@@tomrivans9102 Appreciate that you watched the video. We agree the cables could be better concealed. The current installation works for my needs. My husband did a simple install as the Audi is just a lease and he did not want to mess up any of the interior. I tend to trade vehicles in every 2-3 years so we’d rather not do permanent installations on leased vehicles.
Thanks for the comment! Right now they're on sale on Amazon for $118.99. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08TT1RRGP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Best of luck to you!!!
@@e.me.miranda9472 As far as powering the unit, it plugs into a standard 12 volt cigarette lighter socket/outlet. If you plan to hardwire the dash cam, I'm not familiar with performing that function and couldn't confidently tell you which hardwire kit to purchase.
Such a gorgeous car and a awful installation. Great tutorial on the functions, but seriously reroute the wires and look into a hardwired kit. Your wife will be super happy you did.
Thanks for the comment! I did think about routing the wires in the overhead, but Audi's overhead interior is very strong and very tight compared to other cars and I was worried I might damage the interior. If you take a look at my other dash cam installs in my Wagoneer you'll see that wiring easily fits in the interior overhead so I'm very confident when I install in the Jeep. I'll be turning in my wife's car soon since it's a leased vehicle and I didn't want to damage any of the interior. That's the main reason it's installed the way it is. We've had it like that for 8 months now and haven't had an issue with it. I get it, it's not ideal, but it's the way we plan to keep it until we turn the car in... unless it becomes a problem. Thanks for watching my video, it's much appreciated. Hope you have a great day!!!
I agree, the installation was very sloppy. You have a nice Audi & your installation doesn’t match the car quality. Take the time & do it right & I think you will appreciate it more.
I thought his audio was perfect. A lot of these sound like the presenter has their heads stuck on a barrel but that is most certainly not the case here. I also don't care about pretty what I need is accurate data.

Thanks for the comment! Yes, I didn't install this dash cam very professionally. I want to be able to easily place the dash cam in the car and remove it quickly. The main thing for me is that it works. And it does work very well. We love these REDTIGER dash cams. Appreciate that you watched the video.
There was a comment about why you would use the WiFi to sync to the phone app. Of course the main reason you have this camera is to record an accident to show how much at fault, if any, you were. My son-in-law has been in two no fault accidents. When the Police arrived, the other driver claimed that the accident was 100% the other driver's fault, a big lie. so my son-in-law was able to show the Police right then and there a large video on his cell phone (expandable with your fingers), showing the other driver was 100% at fault. The other driver then admitted fault and the Police report was written up right then and there with the truth. If you have to go home, get your laptop and download the video, take it to the Police station to prove your case, you are buying a lot of headaches and it still might not come out with you ahead.
Thanks for the comment! That’s an awesome real-life explanation concerning how these in car dash cams can help you in an accident. Thanks very much for this information.

@@Teehee1619 Well, this video is available and broadcasted on the world stage with UA-cam, a better attention to the quality of the installation is required. The author is advised that when he broadcasts videos, he will be called upon if he posts videos lacking in quality, he will be told so.
Do you have to log into the Wi-Fi and have it on your phone? Would rather just install the camera and have it recorded to the SD card and not involve my phone at all if possible
Thanks for the comment! If you use the dash cam with the microSD card installed, no, you do not need to access it via WiFi to download the videos. Thanks for the comment and best of luck to you. We’re still enjoying our F7N dash cams.
I ordered it yesterday. Questions,
When i turn off the car; do i need to turn off the cam or just leave it ?
Thank you again. Once I received the it , I will let you know. Hope you get notice when I write to you
I’ve been thinking about purchasing this dash cam.
@@GrayTrend thank you so much!
Better or same camera has Vantrue that uses Sony? Price is better.

Do you have to log into the Wi-Fi and have it on your phone? Would rather just install the camera and have it recorded to the SD card and not involve my phone at all if possible
Hello , thanks for sharing … planning to get one each for my wife’s car and my daughter’s. Is this the top model for red tiger? Tnx

Thank you !Great video ! one question , whats the reason for wifi Just for settings and setup ?
Thanks for the comment! The WiFi feature was designed to allow you to pair your dash camera wirelessly with your smartphone and access your recordings instantly from the dash cam. With this capability, you no longer need to remove the camera or the microSD card from your vehicle to download videos. I still pull the microSD card every time I need to access my DVR videos. I never actually use the WiFi feature. Appreciate that you watched the video!

Thanks for the comment! Just checked my wife's microSD card rear camera video and I can read the license plates very clear. Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Could someone please explain how we can hide the excess of rear camera cable, if we want a clean setup with no apparent cables ?
@@Baking_Baker Thanks for the comment! Appreciate anyone’s advice about this.
I'm unclear about the need for the electrostatic sheets. Are they necessary and do you know their purpose?
Thanks!!
Thanks for the comment! If you use an electrostatic sticker, it’s easier to remove the dash cam when needed. Also, no residual traces of glue remain on the glass, so you will have no problems cleaning the glass after removing the dash cam. Appreciate that you watched the video!

I don't have a cigarette plug in my 2024 GMC.
Can it run on wifi?
Hello, I think your first issue is something that can easily be overcome, and your WiFi question has a YES answer to it. Let me explain:
The REDTIGER F7N comes with a power cable that is USB-C connected to the front camera and USB-A connected to a 12 volt source which could either be the lighter adapter that is provided with the dash cam, or you could just directly plug the power cord into a USB-A power source within the GMC vehicle.
Yes, the REDTIGER App connects via WiFi in order to view video and pictures from the main unit, to make changes to settings, or to download video from the main unit to your smartphone.
Please let me know if this helps. I appreciate that you watched my video!!!
Today, I got my f7np user manual, but there was no 32GB micro SD card
Thanks for the comment! Yes, the two REDTIGER F7N units I purchased did not have a microSD card included on the box either. They usually have to be purchased separately. When you purchase your microSD card, make sure (for 4K recording) that you have a U 3 rating and at least 30 Mega Bytes (MB) for read/write onto the drive, 100 MB is even better.
Here's a good choice from Amazon: www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-microSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B09X7BK27V/ref=sr_1_1?crid=G8465AIFKF7N&keywords=microsd%2Bcard&qid=1695809503&s=instant-video&sprefix=microsd%2Bcard%2Cinstant-video%2C71&sr=1-1-catcorr&th=1

So my cigarette lighter has power even when my trucks off can I just let it go or should I turn it off and on?
Does the camera switch off when you turn off the engine?
Thanks for the comment! Yes, the unit powers off when you turn off the car. You can purchase and install a hardwire kit which would continue to power the dash cam using the car’s battery if you’d like. Appreciate that you watched the video!!!
Amazing thanks for the reply. Keep up the good work!
So do I need the hard wire kit if I want the collision parking feature ?

Thanks for the comment! Have you installed it yet? How do you like it?
Every time I set my time it goes back yo an hour early. Hopefully i can fix it later

Thank you sir
