I have a 2024 CRV and I had hell installing mine. I didn’t have the holes you have in your hatch in the back. Also my weather strips on the door would not budge! I pulled hard too. I think my are sealed in somehow. I was sad when I saw mine wasn’t the same as yours. I got it in though and it looks good!
On rear camera just stick to top inside roof panel, add spacer to drop down about 1 inch if needed , much easier and no messing with tail light wiring harness
Nice video! Did you need the BCM at all, or did using the fusebox power up the cameras? My plan is to use the fusebox only, but I'll check with the pros here first. Thanks!
I wanted to do it as if it were you guys doing it, not a professional. Most of the stuff that comes in the box is meant to be for a diyer. So I have been doing it that way so I can appeal to whoever is attempting it. Listen man, there is a method to my madness..🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪..nice screen name..🤣🤣🤣
@@richideates you made it easy by just using the fuse box. That's what I'm going to do lol. And thanks for pointing out which fuses to use as well! I did not want to mess with the BCM.
For those using the “fuse splitter” (or whatever they’re called) in the fuse box as I did, make sure you plug it in with the tail oriented on the load side of the fuse socket. With the splitter plugged in with the right orientation, It splits the fuse box hot to go to both fuses in the splitter with the original fuse going back to its load side in the box (as before) and the camera fuse going to the tail. If you plug the splitter in 180 degrees off, the effect is that the original fuse still connects to its load side as before, but the camera fuse is now in series (that is, after) the original fuse.
Dude! You installed that rear camera 3M adhesive pad"touching" that rear defroster line! When or if you remove that camera for whatever reason you can say goodbye to that rear defroster top line! The 3M adhesive should be "In between any of the grids not touching the lines! FYI only!
🤣🤣🤣..absoutely UNTRUE..but thanks for that..3M is strong, but not that strong..if that were the case..evwry single car that has tint on the rear defroster window..would be bad when removed. Whoever told you that my friend is incorrect. You do realize that copper line is attached to the glass and either you "scrape" it off and break the "line" but some double sided tape. Never in a million years.
I was looking at a camera with “24 hour parking mode” recording. Is the final wiring process any different and wouldn’t that potentially drain the battery? Thanks for the video.
But yes. If you have a 24 hour parking mode, you can potentially kill the battery. It depends if you have numerous things making the camera turn on. But if the camera kows that it is in parking mode, it should go back to sleep. But anything pulling power from the battery will lead the battery to not last as long as it should.
On my 2015 CRV used a piece of 12 or 14 gauge electric wire (with cut end protected with electrical tape) rather than a pilot drill bit to snake through the rubber boot in the lift gate. I also wet the cable a bit with water and a little Dawn dishwashing detergent reduce the friction. I’m about to install on the 2025 I just got and I’ve been getting cold feet pulling the interior apart as I did on the 2015. Thanks for the video hep.
I had no problem locating power, but I'm hesitant to pull off the trim trying to locate a good ground point... Are those trim pieces easily removed and replaced? THANKS!
When routing the cables across the pillars should you be concerned with interfering with the curtain airbags? I'm not sure how all that works, but I'm about to do this same install and was wondering?
Well if you go across the stretch of the vehicle, no, I wouldnt be. When you come around the pillar by the windshield, thats a toss up. I say no dont worry because the wire is so thin. But some people argue that and say you should go behind the airbag. I just put up another video for the Grand Highlander I just did. Go look at that one because I didnt go behind the airbag in the CRV. I say it doesnt matter either way, but it can be arguement to some people. The airbag practically "explodes" open, so a thin wire like that stands no chance to not break. BUT, you shouldnt think about getting into an accident of that magnitude. Its not good thoughts. Lol
@@richideates I think the obstruction of the airbag is a legitimate concern. The dashcam cable may very well keep the air bag from deploying appropriately. I highly recommend going behind the air bag with a little bit more effort. It could save a life one day.
So where you see the radio thru the hole where you pulled the rubber tubing out of the rear window, I cannot see thru it as it is all enclosed on my 2022 crv. I was hoping to pull the cable thru like you did but see no way of getting thru to the other side without drilling or poking a hole thru the plastic that’s stopping me from seeing thru like yours
@@richideates I did, it was still covered by some plastic covering though. It was thin so I could see light thru it when shining a flashlight, so I just drilled a small hole thru it, ran the cable thru it, pulled it thru, and put the panel back. So other than that, everything was the same. That just threw me off a little at first. Your video was EXTREMELY helpful! Thanks for posting it!
So my honda crv is 04 and has the traditional back door/hatch. How the heck can i get this attached.... i csnt use half my product we spent good money on we arent rich. 😂
Sorry for going into laugh mode first.. but thats just me..isnt the 04 the one that opens up to the left side swing?? Tire on the back and table in the floor??
Ah, so we just need to do ua-cam.com/video/JxCcEb1wUbI/v-deo.html and no need to snake through one of the two rubber hoses (that hold electrical wires)?
I just installed the version that fits behind the mirror in my car. I've never done anything like this and amazed at how easy it was. Getting the wire through the rubber boot doesn't require any kind of guide. Just shove it in, compress the boot and hold the connector as you let the boot expand. Took about 30 seconds to feed it through doing this.
@@richideates not at all. Showing how to route the wire, pull back the door trim, etc was very valuable. I just used a different method to get the connector through the boot. Also, I mentioned your video in my review of the camera.
Not sure. But yes. It is 1 and 14. Not sure what they are for but funny enough. I paused the video on the fuse diagram under the steering wheel cover to see what number the fuse was. I cant make out what their for through the video.

All weatherstripping is very tough when the vehicle is new..im sorry to hear that
That video was informative and funny, good job bro!
Thanks. I try. I plan on doing a "podcast" soon. So stay tuned. 😁🤣

Until you knock it off and break it..🤣🤣🤣

Awesome video dude! Im going to try this weekend. But, you did not connect to the BCM? You just plugged into the fuse?

@@richideates OK Rich! Thank you for your response....👍🏻

No..wiring has nothing to do with how often the parking mode works..

@DanielChang-z4d well we also shouldnt be so worried about the airnags deploying..that is negative all.of its own..but a valid point

Which fuses did you use? #1 and 14?
Do you know what those two correlate to on your fuse diagram?

@LarrySoliman but..isnt everything fused at the fuse box??
You only need to tap into one fuse, the ACC fuse #45 on the diagram.
