    I recently bought a power steering pump with the reservoir attached and after installing it i turned on my jeep and it began leaking pretty bad from where the reservoir meets the pump, where you said to add some lube. After watching this im just glad i dont have to remove and install that pulley again. Thanks for making a video bro

    Thank you for posting! This is the same type of reservoir that is on many GM vehicles. This is the only video I found on how to remove them. I'm sure I could have figured it out. But, a good video sure helps.

    Thanks for the vid martin
    Im allmost ready to transform the cooling system on my 04 wj...bougth the alluminum radiator from ebay, the 12 blade ford fan and clutch, the 180° thermostat and the reservoir also has to be changed since the one for the hydraulic fan has two return outlets on it...so im getting one from an older model jeep...what a mission!

    Thanks very much dude. Ive had a leak coming from my PS hydros and your vid makes me believe its leaking from the pump o-ring to the reservoir. Now I know how to work those clamps ;) Much obliged sir. PS have you ever heard of the plastic reservoirs ever cracking?

    Hi Martin. This is exactly what I was seeking for my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Classic. I'm just replacing the reservoir. I'm guessing I'll need to remove the entire pump/reservoir apparatus to make clip removal easy. Do you have a video for removing that entire set you have in the video? I'd like to do this at home. I hope my pump hasn't failed, but not sure how to test or discern that just yet. This is great. Thank you.

    Thanks I always wondered how those connect together also had wondered if they were like two separate units that were just attached together. Granted I have a different model but at least on the model you are showing it seems to connect the two or does fluid not actually pass through there?

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  3 роки тому

      The fluid passes from the reservoir through the pump and exit to the high pressure hose. Thank you for watching.

    Nice pump, I just picked up a PSC and am putting it on my Wrangler. The ATSCO reman from AutoZone failed in less than a week.
    How do you like your pump?

    Me again…do you think a bad pump and/or dirty filter could cause the hydraulic radiator fan pump to have so low a flow that the fan never spins, but the pressure is still good enough for power steering? trying to troubleshoot my 06 Commander 5.7L overheating condition, i.e. fan never coming “on” (it’s not seized, changed fluid, checked solenoid, verified PWM signal, temporarily disconnected engine temp sensor, etc.). seems like folks experience low rpm problems, but i don’t see anyone having a “no rpm” condition like i have

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  2 роки тому +1

      If it doesn't spin at all I think it's the fan motor

    I have a question:
    The plastic sleeve and o ring proper position between the pump and reservoir?
    could not find any info so far, and i cannot see it clearly in this video.
    Could someone tell me please.

    Have you upgraded your power steering pump? I've been thinking of doing the WJ upgrade. Im running 33s. Probably wont go bigger or will I ever do hydro assist.

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  8 років тому

      yes I have upgraded to the WJ pump it works great.. I also added a 1 quart spin on filter and a power steering cooler. Total with everything I have a 4 quart capacity.

    • @TexasRedneck
      @TexasRedneck 8 років тому

      Very nice. I just got done doing the upgrade yesterday. My first pump leaked really badly so I had to get another one. Could you do a video on your filter and how you did your power steering cooler? Thank you!

    I looked up your video to see the O ring. The one that came with my pump from Autozone is a white ring with a rectangular cross section that does not fit onto the tube of the reservoir but just sits in the bottom of the bore if the pump. It does not feel like the reservoir tube is compressing that ring when it bottoms out. I had a leak before and this may be the reason. Should there be another O ring that fits over the tube on the reservoir?

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  5 років тому

      Yes, that's how I remember it.

    • @philwarner6604
      @philwarner6604 5 років тому

      @@martinbuilt OK, thanks for the reply. I did find a black rubber O ring still in the bore of the old pump and I put that on the reservoir tube along with the white ring in the bottom of the new pump's bore. I reinstalled the pump and did the flushing of the system by jacking up the front wheels and turning them back and forth and letting the fluid come out of the return line until it was clear and then purged it by reinstalling the return line and then turning the wheels a turn to the right and left 5 times as the instructions that came with the pump said to do. After all that when I finally started the engine, the new pump squealed like a stuck pig so I shut it off and turned the wheel back and forth 10 more times with the engine off and then tried again. The pump was not as loud the second time but still squealed. ( I must add that my TPS is malfunctioning and the "idle" is 2000 to 2500 RPM - a new TPS is on the way) I am afraid that Autozone may have given me a bad pump (not the first time BTW) and I may have to do this all over again if it does not quiet down. I'll wait for the new TPS before I try it again, though.

    Do you need to take the whole pump out to change the reservoir?
    Thanks!

      martinbuilt Thanks. I might as well try it, tricky part will probably be releasing that clip on the bottom with the pump still in. Thanks.

    Could you possibly, do it with the pump still attached to the car ? I don’t want to go threw the trouble of taking of the whole pump just for the res

    • @martinbuilt
      @martinbuilt  4 роки тому

      I would think it would be very difficult to get to the bottom clip that holds the reservoir on.
