  • It started with what we thought was a front pinion seal which turned out to be a bad o-ring between the power steering pump reservoir and pump. In this video we pull the power steering pump, separate it from the reservoir and replace the o-ring. At the end of the video we also measure the o-ring if you are looking for the size of the o-ring.

    Really well done video. I'll be dropping a new pump/pulley in my 98 this week and this gives me confidence.

    Thanks, very helpful to see it done in advance. I hope mine is just an o ring as well.

    Great video, timely too, I have an '01 that's leaking in the power steering system. BTW, your audio levels are a little low, had to turn up to max to listen to your commentary. Thanks for the good explanations.

    I have 1997 jeep tj I bought brand new, hard top full and half doors, garaged kept. Has some holes in frame, I tried selling it very cheap but seems in my part of the country, ‘’Pittsburgh’’ no one fixes these jeeps, been sitting in the garage for 3 years, still runs great, need my garage back . Off to the scrap yard ,

    I used an approximate Viton o-ring and it still leaked. (I probably used the wrong size) I’m guessing I have to pull out the micrometer to accurately measure a generic replacement o-ring

    My reservoir leaks from the friction point between the reservoir and the pump. There is a little O-ring between the services that seems to always create a leak. I have replaced the larger O-ring that fits over the Reservoir, but there is another depression within the power steering pump that might need another O-ring I’m not too sure on this.

    Any chance you know where I can get high pressure hose o ring or what size it is? Thanks

      Unfortunately I do not, they come with the hose, if you have the old one you could measure it and buy one from McMaster Carr

    So do l need different for Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0 1995 Anyone done this on a YJ?

      The reservoirs are the same from 93-04 the pumps however were slightly different from 91-96 vs later years. If you are looking at replacing the O Ring this should still pretty much apply.

    Does the oring for high pressure line come in kit?

    • @TabooCustoms
      @TabooCustoms  Рік тому

      No, it does not have the small o ring that goes on the end of the high pressure line.
